I Transmigrated as the Academy’s Weary Instructor

Ten years of devotedly reading a novel ended in catastrophe.

Unable to contain myself, I wrote a heartfelt letter and sent it to the author’s email.

And then…

“What in the world…”

I was transmigrated into a delusional, broken instructor in a world without dreams or hope.

I really shouldn’t have sent that email.

It's quite a nice novel actually. I just wished that it was a little longer. I mean that's quite a common desire for most people. But honestly? There were many parts that I wanted to last longer. There were also many parts were I wished the author had expanded on. I would have especially loved it if the author wrote a bit more from other people's perspectives (especially durring the latter half of the novel), their feelings and how they view the MC and his actions. I also wanted to... more>> see more interactions between the MC and the other characters (especially durring the latter half of the novel).

To summarize, I wanted the whole storyline before 'The Red Night' (idk if it was called that, but I meant the day when

the MC basically faked his death + when 'The Red Hand' terrorist group basically got destroyed

) to last longer, and I wanted the author to expand more on the feelings and interactions between the MC and the other characters after 'The Red Night' happened. It honestly feels like so much wasted potential. The author could've turned this novel into a real tear-jerker. I mean everything before 'the red night' was fine, I just felt a little regretful that it didn't last any longer (but that is just the complaint of a reader, it wasn't really something that affected the quality if the story).

But everything after 'the red night' just felt a little... rushed? soulless? robotic? emotionless? one-dimensional? I don't really know how to describe it, it honestly felt more like the difference between listening to a person narrating events, and immersing yourself in a story. It was a golden opportunity to expand on the thoughts, emotions and interactions between the characters. I mean sometimes there were indeed some short descriptions about a character's feelings/views, but it just wasn't enough you know? It almost felt like the author abandoned almost all possible interactions between the MC and other characters. For example, when

Dokgo Ran (or whatever she was called. I meant the reckless girl who loves fighting and is part of that regressor's friendgroup) didn't even get the chance to talk to the MC after he returned from faking his death, she was constantly cast aside as a side note. I mean it is indeed not really realistic to have a personal conversation with the MC about that (considering their personalities), but besides the dry mentions about the fact that she felt betrayed or something, the author didn't even expand on how she truly felt, what I meant was that we didn't even get a pov change in her perspective, or there wasn't even a deeper conversation about how she felt. I honestly don't even know if she got any closure at the end. Even if she wouldn't be able to get a direct answer from the MC, at least let her have a conversation with another character about how she felt and why the MC did what he did or something like that.

Honestly, after 'the red night' happened, all the other characters just felt one-dimensional. It had so much potential to be turned into a tear-jerker and tragedy. Honestly, it was the first time ever that I wanted to read a fanfiction of a novel, not for the sake of nostalgia, but simply because I felt unsatisfied, unsatisfied because there was so much lost potential.

Okay, I'm finally done complaining. Let's talk about the story now. It's quite an interesting concept. The story is about our MC who transmigrates into a novel, and has to try to exterminate the 'Creatures' (that's what those monsters are called) who would eventually bring the extinction of humans (+ all the other intelligent galaxy species). That novel he transmigrated into, was about a regressor who tries to prevent the extinction of mankind (caused by the 'creatures'). I think that regressor was already in his 7th (or somewhere around that number) regression, but the novel ended with him failing to save humanity again. That rotten ending was precisely the reason why our MC was so disatisfied with the author of the novel. It already sounds quite interesting, don't you think?

The setting of that novel was about humans who have entered space/galaxy. Humans are one of the dominant species in the galaxy. Currently (timeline where our MC has just transmigrated + the regressor has regressed again after failing to prevent their extinction) none of the galaxy species realises the danger that the 'creatures' pose, they are too busy fighting each other. There are superhumans whose strength are based on the number of 'gears' they have. 'Gears' are basically virtual organs that are necessary to use mana/psysonic energy (i dont think that's how it should be spelled but whatever). With 5 gears being the strongest, while 1 gears are the weakest (not counting the ordinary people who don't even have a single gear).

Our MC transmigrated as an instructor in a military academy. That instructor has a terrible reputation of being crazy, sensitive and rude. He basically pulled out a sword on a cadet, just because that cadet provoked him. He is also backed by a faction called 'Rosen', so most people don't want to provoke a crazy guy like him. What little is known of his past, is that he was an orphan and child-soldier, who served for 20 years in the third galactic war before he became an instructor. All records of his service are confidential.

The instructor's health status indicates that he has various issues like PTSD, chronic headaches, chronic fatigue, drug addiction, etc. After transmigrating our MC drinks quite a lot (although i've never seen him drunk before) and is a heavy smoker.

After transmigrating our MC mainly tries to prevent the extinction of mankind, by introducing a new course about 'creatures' and teaches it himself, so that he can prepare/train the cadets for fighting 'creatures', and tries to get stronger/regain his strength. As the story progresses ghosts of the past will eventually catch up to him.

That's basically the gist of this novel, hope you have a nice time reading it.

But honestly, I really like cold main characters who are a bit crazy. It's definitely a plus if they are broken, sensitive and deal with trauma. But what really made me like this MC, is his sense or responsibility as an instructor. It's not that he is a great good person or something like that, no, he is someone who just does what he has to do. <<less
