It sometimes seems like edited MTL where some phrases slips by, like Yang energy being s*xual energy or "the strongest martial artist" is "the strongest swordsman"... just how?

Was drawn in by the martial arts in the beginning, but the bad harem tropes and business management is really not my thing <<less

This is a fantastic Wuxia about a Shaolin monk wandering the Murim fighting evildoers. To be fair, he isn't a proper Shaolin monk, he is a reincarnator and has no problem breaking the rules of their monastic order. So it is more like a regular Wuxia martial artist dressed as a monk. It is very exciting with lots of action and thwarting the plans of an evil organization. There is also a really interesting concept at the beginning (which never goes anywhere, sadly) where the author explains his own interpretation... more>> of what "special constitutions" are in this genre and establishes that the MC's modern muscle-building techniques can basically create most special constitution with targeted training regimens.

Sadly, the author loses his momentum from time to time. I nearly dropped this entirely around chapter 30 when the author spent way too much time talking about the MC setting up a workout clinic. Even after that finished the whole story stayed pretty weak. All the stuff about the merchant group he helps and the old Buddhist he helps to heal (staying vague to avoid spoilers) is pretty weak. Thankfully the story moves on to other locations and people and then gets better but it takes a long time to build up momentum back to being exciting.

You can expect this to start interesting, take a huge dip in quality while the author focuses on boring stuff, and then improve again when the author finally starts writing about proper Wuxia activity. I am kind of torn between 3 and 4 for the average quality over the chapters so far but I am really enjoying the adventures right now so I will go with 4 stars.

An interesting story for sure!

This is the first isekai / reincarnation story I found that is based on a Shaolin monk! MC is a physical trainer in the modern world who gets isekaied into a novel he was reading, straight into the temple of the Shaolin as a young disciple!

The story starts out as quite fun as we see the bewildered MC trying his best to make sense of his situation, then realizing that the impossible has happened, and coming to terms with his situation.

MC is not over powered, he... more>> builds his power up step by step, his only super power is modern knowledge, and knowledge of the Novels he has read, as he has been put into the Novel world!

MC builds strong and eduring relationships with other monks, who also play interesting role in the story - each with their own nuances and intracies.

Theres just a flavour of subtle hint of possible romance but its nothing major, it does not detract from the major theme of the story,

Plenty of battles, especially the battles at the end is of grand scale and thrilling.

This is a solid read!

Feedback on translation by brightnovels team - the names used are inconsistent, sometime names of characters are inconsistent, sometimes name of clans or poaces are inconistent. I womder if they are using AI generated translation for this work? Name changes/confusion has been irritating to say the least! I hope the team cleans up their work. <<less
