Upon receiving the news of her older sister’s passing, Shen Qing immediately boarded a flight back to the country.

At the funeral, she locked eyes once again with that agonizingly familiar face—her sister-in-law, Jiang Wangshu.

Jiang Wangshu was the eldest daughter of a prominent family in Haicheng. Elegant and breathtakingly beautiful, she possessed a gentle grace that mirrored a pristine moon in the night sky. Yet, trapped by an awkward family status, she had been used as a pawn, married off to the eldest Miss of the Shen family—a woman who had spent her entire life confined to a sickbed.

Watching Jiang Wangshu stand trembling before her sister’s funeral portrait, her eyes red as tears streamed down her face, Shen Qing was suddenly reminded of her sister’s final plea:

Protect Jiang Wangshu. Look after her until she finds a partner whose capability and power match your own.

Shen Qing had shared a deep, bitter rift with her sister, so much so that when her sister fell gravely ill, Shen Qing had left the country without a second thought. But now that the dust had settled and her sister was gone, even the deepest resentments had dissolved into nothingness.

From that day forward, she faithfully honored her sister’s dying wish, keeping a close eye on Jiang Wangshu.

Eventually, she crossed the line. Ignoring Jiang Wangshu’s protests, she boldly moved her sister-in-law into her own villa. Then, on a dark and stormy night, she climbed into her bed, murmuring “Sister-in-law” over and over again.

After all, who else could possibly be a better match for Jiang Wangshu?

Jiang Wangshu was supposed to be hers from the very beginning.
