Kang San is the unluckiest man alive. Orphaned at a young age by monsters, betrayed by his relatives, and cursed with a talentless F-rank Hunter rating, misfortune seems to follow him everywhere.

But everything changes when a mysterious messenger reveals a shocking truth: Kang San is the reincarnation of the Blood Demon, a legendary mu*derer whose karma now plagues his life.

Offered a chance to atone through trials and tribulations, Kang San is granted Azmoon’s blessing, a system that bestows powerful skills and stat boosts upon completing dangerous quests.

I genuinely can't fathom why this has a such low review score. At first glance, it's very simillar to other stories of its genre, but distinguishes itself through its protagonist.

He's a selfless hero, a person who does good because he wants to prove that he's a good person, and not his past life. He abhors his past self, and the deeds that demon committed.

It's so unlike other types of Korean webnovels where the MC does things for selfish reasons, and hoards gear, people and whatnot. Yes he's OP to an... more>> extent, but he's bloodied, scarred and mired in the various catastrophes he selfeslly throws himself into.

Of course the story isn't without its fault, but the very notion that a selfless MC, who acts and fights for good, is unfortunately unique in a genre focused on adventures is kinda sad.

The positives for me far outweigh the negatives and I desperatly want there to be more stories where MC is a good guy, and not a "law of the jungle" type of douchebag. <<less

I like the novel so far. Well-written with great pacing and a good-natured MC.

MC is intelligent and knows how to repay gratitude and grudges. He isn't the type of person to let others walk all over him despite being kind by nature.

Many protagonists unfortunately only care about what they can gain from saving people, but the MC does it out of heart. He's not some saint or anything like that, but he has basic human courtesy that many lack due to greed and he tries his best to make sure... more>> the people around him are safe.

The story is a bit generic with your typical hunters/dungeons scenario. Luckily, there is none of that regression, necromancy, or sick parents trope. MC is really making the story nice to read. <<less

I think the concept of a past life dooming your next life is a piece of work. This tries to make it feel like a valid excuse to ruin a new life... but it doesn't really make me think/feel the philosophy/theology has any justification. It doesn't seem to make the narrative structure better, or enhance the story in any way.

This might as well be an arbitrary survival/death game protag in a hunter society... except he's the only one in the trial.

It's kind of just that annoying a concept... now imagine... more>> it tries to put on airs and justify itself through a theological concept that is hardly addressed in the world building.

The thing is fine, it's frustrating me... it's probably 3-4 stars I'll give it 4 for using a different concept and trying to work it up. It's awkward at times, and a downer in others which is why I want to give it a 3... but the world building outside of randomly pulling out this concept and applying it awkwardly is at least genuinely contributing towards a cohesive oppressive mood.

The contrast between him doing good things, and then being arbitrarily denied a mary sue sort of notion only because his past life is a piece of work doesn't feel earned at all for addressing that either. <<less
