At seventeen, I was annoyed just seeing him.

At eighteen, I left home for college. He came to find me, and I kissed him.

He cried, saying I didn’t even like him.

He was right.

At nineteen, he still came to see me often, but I never told him I loved him.

At twenty, he said he wanted to discuss something important with me. I got drunk, pretending to be clueless while knowing full well, and told him to talk about it later.

At twenty-one, he disappeared.

At twenty-two, I put on a suit and went to work. There was no more news of him.

Every year after that, I kept imagining what it would be like to reunite with him.

On the day before the end of the world, I decided to go find him. I decided to tell him I had liked him, decided to say to him:

“The world is falling apart; let’s fall in love.”

I didn’t expect that he was actually waiting for me.

This was a truly unique story that was very bittersweet in many ways. There were so many twists in the story that I did not see coming and at the very end, I was left thinking, I need to re-read this once it's fully translated because what was that?!

It's a story about a pair of lovers who left off on bad terms and lost contact. It's the end of the world and MC dives into a simulated game world of the past in an attempt to find traces of... more>> ML. It looks at their past, finding out details that MC had not known before and ultimately leads them back together. But not everything is as it seems. There's a heavy angst undertone to the story because something is just off at the beginning

like, it's the END of the world, apocalyptic style, what kind of hope could MC even have to finding ML in that situation?

Despite the super dark background, it's surprisingly lighthearted for the school days arc of the story, and there are even noteworthy side characters like their school friends and ML's sister.

As for MC and ML's relationship, it's hard to say if it were a relationship gone wrong or who did whom wrong. But they clearly love each other very much and I was actually thinking hard on MC's decisions later on. Like

I don't know what to say except it's f*cking beautiful and devastating but HE nonetheless. I came in completely unprepared for the bitterness and the sweetness but it left me speechless either way. The novel is in first person pov and since I google translated the later half many things were confusing and I'm pretty sure I only got 80% of it but it was 100% worth it.

Now I came into this novel expecting some slice of life, angst, drama etc so I was caught so off guard when everything turned sci-fi post apocalyptic but like in a good way. Not only that, from the flashbacks of our MC you also get some of the school life and slice of life that I was expecting. This story crushed me in a way I didn't anticipate at all, even tho we never personally witnessed their every milestone of their love nor their growth, each line that seeped through seemed to penetrate me strangely I didn't shed a single tear but my eyes were watery and my heart hurt. You get glimpses of their past until everything naturally unfolds. This novel really explores what one would do for love, the bad and the ugly, the good and the sightly, the selfishness and selflessness, they balance each other perfectly, no matter what timeline or universe, they find each other in each one and honestly even when it ended so many what ifs were circling around me I was screaming for more but I was sure they would have their happy forever after. I think this novel did an amazing job at tackling the theme of transforming in love and the whole "to love is to change and be changed." Honestly I gotta know what the author was on while writing this cause there's no way they were able to create such a resonating story without basing some of it it off something at least. <<less
