Unironically Well Written

Unironically Well Written
For the novels that don't just expose endless descriptors, but also have a clever and well thought out story to tell. Whether it be tragic grinds that test your limits or joyful romps that celebrate life, these novels are things that I consider fulfilling reads from cover to cover. The novels that I unironically think are well written.

I have a bit of a hard on for Korean Novels in particular. It's just because of the stylistic choices these authors make. If Chinese Novels are about blood-thirsty, cruel, never-ending, arrogant, one-sided and shallow stories; and Japanese Novels are about weak-willed, nonsensical, piddling constantly hesitant stories; then Korean Novels are a different beast all together.

There are also novels that I REALLY loved reading but have no entries on this site. These novels are *legally* hosted on WebNovel and elsewhere. I will list the novels that struck me as abnormally good here in the description.

Reincarnated with the Strongest System

Divine Emperor of Death

Villain Cultivator

God of Tricksters

Tyranny of Steel

The Beginning After the End

Vile Evil Hides Under the Veil

Why Should I Stop Being a Villain

Supreme Magus

Rupegia

The Simulacrum

Worth the Candle

Shadow s*ave

Dimensional Descent

Sword God in a World of Magic

Jackal Among Snakes

The Bleak Walker

Another note for the entries on my list. This site lists an inaccurate amount of chapters quite often. I like longer novels that give me a lot of time to sink my teeth into them. I generally don't read ANYTHING without at least 300 Chapters. So if you see any entries with 8 chapters, 60,112, etc assume that it's incorrect.

I read a lot of things. If the list didn't make it obvious enough, I have a bit of a hard on for Korean Novels in particular. It's just because of the stylistic choices these authors make. If Chinese Novels are about blood-thirsty, cruel, never-ending, arrogant, and shallow stories; and Japanese Novels are about weak-willed, nonsensical, piddling, constantly hesitant stories; then Korean Novels are a different beast entirely.

Protags that know how to put their foot down, but don't end up killing entire clans. Antagonists that think with their head and keep the fights contained instead of bringing in some Nascent Soul senior to slap face. Love Interests that can be soul nurturing at the best of times and anxiety inflicting messes that force you to read one more chapter before bed at the worst of times.

Very seldom do I find novels that show these aspects outside of Korean Novels, but when I do, it always stands out. Maybe it's just really good editing. Maybe the authors themselves use the thousands of pages of their previous works as foundations that make their new novels insanely strong. I'm not too sure what the magic ingredient is, but it's insanely powerful and very addicting.

I say all of this to say, I don't hate A Desolate Era, Warlock of the Magus World, or Martial God Asura. I also don't hate Is it Wrong to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon, Youkoso Jitsuryoku Shijou Shugi no Kyoushitsu e, or The Death Mage Who Doesn’t Want a Fourth Time.

These novels aren't bad, but just because a novel has over 6k chapters and over 20k readers, doesn't mean I'm willing to add it to this list. These are the stories that really stick with me. The stories that I can recommend to anyone in this culture. Tales that will stand as benchmarks for a long time to come.

ALSO SOME OF THESE NOVELS HAVE TERRIBLE NAMES AND EVEN WORSE DESCRIPTIONS! I know how bad they sound but I promise that I wouldn't put it on here if it didn't meet a certain bar. Don't judge a book by it's cover n all that. clear.png

I am of the same mind of you in regard to novels, and have exactly the same feelings regarding the distinction of Korean, Japanese and Chinese novels. Maybe you should add a short description for every novel in the list regarding your emotions and why you think it should be in the list. Everyone can find out the plot when looking it up so you don't really need to write a summary for it unless it helps explaining the plot or something

@Patikekfad That'd be tough lol. If I did the short version (here's why this novel deserves it's spot), then I think there would be a lot of repeating entries. If I did the long version (basically just a better plot summary that focuses on the story's main hook) then that would take too much of my time. At that point I might as well make a whole book review collection! (I won't tho lol)
