Infinite flow novel about a disabled and somewhat washed-up magician who transmigrates into a survival horror game where everyone is ranked by letter and the lowest ranks are eliminated. Transmigration is not all that big in this novel until the very end, mostly because the MC didn't actually read the whole story. Starts just a little bit slow, but every 'instance' or 'stage' is completely unique and deeply immersive - so even though the romance is really slow, the story's plot really shined through and kept the momentum going. MC is competent, cold, and tsundere, while the ML (No.1) is the top S-class in rankings with a playful and manipulative side. This one seems to have come out of nowhere - I'm not usually a lover of sci-fi, but this novel was written so well and immersive that I fell in anyway. It plays with the idea of alpha/omega dynamics without actually BEING an ABO story. Instead, they're Qizi and Qizhua (I think that's how it's spelled?), with specific rules about how one can behave in society based on your role. However, that's not the most interesting part - it's HOW one can become a qizi or qizhua that's the hook to this story. You're not born as one or the other, you 'obtain' the designation. It's written a bit like a mystery, where the rowdy... more>> and ambitious MC (who will eventually become the qizi) slowly learns the truth about this hyper-intellectual, constantly-reincarnating society that eventually dominated the galaxy. 

Fair warning, the ML is an absolute bastard in the first couple weeks of their 'companionship' (literally the worst). However, he gets his face slapped a couple of times and finally gets his act together soon enough - that's when the relationship between the MC and ML truly shines. 

I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys the sub/dom dynamic, because the story really likes to play around with the idea.  <<less

What can I say? Who doesn't want a man like Hua Chang? My favorite of MXTX's works by far. If you haven't read it and you're looking for stories with a hyper-competent, doting, possessive, and devoted (in the most literal of ways) ML, then this one is for you. I'm a grown adult who NEVER squeals, but this novel broke that record. Plus, the ML and MC's relationship is equal, both are powerful in their own rights. The settings and stages are pretty cool, with an emphasis on solving puzzles rather than action, unlike Thriller Trainee. Romance starts pretty quickly, with the MC intentionally and unintentionally pressing ALL of the ML's buttons. ML is flirtatious while the MC is tsundere, you know how this goes.  <<less

The readers get to watch as a literal psychopath (for reasons) re-learns what it means to love by going through his past once more and seeing clues that he'd missed the first time around start to paint an ugly picture about what truly happened the day it all fell apart and the MC went over the edge. 

Chu Wanning (the shou ML) is the most tragic character ever. Every time we're privy to his thoughts I want to cry for this poor man. We get to see him happy in the end though, and that's all that matters. 

Also, giant warning for s*xual abuse and overall smut in general if that's not your tea. The story opens with it, so don't start it in front of your coworkers or there's going to be some awkward questions being asked. <<less

A staple of the unlimited flow genre, with a heavy focus on puzzle mystery solving and horror. Each instance is a different narrative story that unravels as the characters find clues to put the pieces together. The romance is minimal for the most part, which is actually fine with me because the story carried it so well - so if your aim is for the fluffy and cute moments, this one probably isn't it. It takes itself very seriously, and you can't be surprised when characters die (NOT the CP - it's HEA). ... more>>

HOWEVER, the slow(ish?) romance is pretty fun at times, and the introduction to the male lead - who follows the MC into almost every instance so no worries about him being left behind in the story - is PERFECT. I personally had a lot of fun reading the first 'door' again knowing what I learned in the story after. The only thing that I didn't really enjoy was the ML's dual personality inside and outside the doors, being way more playful and teasing than outside in reality. Otherwise, it's a cute couple, and it's fun when the ML pulls the MC into his shenanigans.

Despite the pairing's toxicity (the ML is not a good person, nor does he try to be), something about this story is super interesting to me? Like the beginning was fun to read as it's a BL mix of spy thriller with a sprinkle of spicy tension and action. The story doesn't really lose any momentum later either, when the ML fully develops his obsession and they get to the island arc (where the story is right now at 53 ch). It transforms into a psychological horror (but the r*pe also ramps up so another warning for that - and the author doesn't really spare any details for it :/ ) 

The ML is certainly unlikable in many ways, but in some respects he's also kinda charming? Like I know I've got a bias for crazy bastards, but I think the author does a good job making him sound suave. He's obsessive, crazy (don't ignore this adjective, he's genuine psychopath material), and very sexually driven (there's a scene where a... third unimportant character is literally interjected between them as they have a threesome). The more you learn about him, the more you realize you don't know ANYTHING about him - and that's half of what makes him so interesting. The MC thinks he's got it all figured out, but he doesn't (this applies to more than just the ML). It's great. In recent chapters, there's actually hints of genuine affection in the way the ML speaks to the MC, and I'm quite certain that there's a softer romance brewing somewhere as the story continues to be translated. Enemies to lovers, almost. We'll see. 

Overall, it's a f*cked up story about a respected yet arrogant spy getting absolutely blindsided by a much larger predator. Juicy stuff, definitely recommended if you've got questionable tastes like me.  <<less
