Completed. 4/5!!! [Transmigration, Golden Finger, Slice of Life, Poor-to-Rich] The summary for this novel put me off at first but I'm glad that I read it in the end! I think I would have rated it higher if the MTL was a little better (it's only 65% readable most of the time), but anyway-- The MC transmigrates into the 1960s with a Tabao Shop inside of her head that allows her to buy and sell things. This, of course, becomes the key to her survival during this time. At first, it starts off pretty slowly as she has to get out of a bad family situation (her parents abandoned them to abusive relatives in the... more>> country while they (parents) raised other people's children). The romance is not really the focus at first, it's the MC fighting for herself and her newly acquired sister. As for the rest, there's lots of drama with the family following, as well as more get-rich schemes until it becomes national.

Definitely worth the read, ahhhh the Mc is good and the ML too. i had thought that the lack of romance in the beginning would be a bad thing, but there's no doubt that I was kept interested thanks to the golden finger alone, which is a rare one. The worldbuilding in this is also not bad. It's the 1960s (which is usually 10 years before other novels are set-up) and the MC is a working woman, not necessarily focused on getting rich quick all the time. <<less

I could have read more, since the TL isn’t so bad. But I got bored in the end cause the family drama dragged on and on. I just wanted the timeskip to happen already — and I hate time skips!!! Definitely shouldn’t be read as a romance. Lore comedy and drama. <<less

SUMMARY: The FL transmigrates into ancient times with a magical space and expert apothecary skills bred from an apocalypse modern-day Earth. She finds her soul transmigrated into the body of Gu Ye, the 'daughter' of the 7th Gu branch family that lives in the remote mountains. Her stepmother is unkind and her father has never treated her as a daughter (because he's not actually his biological father XD). She has a twin brother that cares for her, and so she sticks around this remote place with seemingly no ambition aside from living as well as she can. In the process, she and her brother will get adopted by a military man, and she'll have an early encounter with the ML (who is also a transmigrator -- and one she knew well, to boot!)

THOUGHTS: The rating I'll be giving is pretty low (3/5), but not as low as it could be. I think the author's writing is not bad, if they were a little more careful about the beginning of the story, I would have probably been able to continue reading. It's just that there was not much there for me to care about the characters for, and I ended up getting bored early as a result. The chapters I read was mostly slice of life, but based on the other reviews, things will start to change in the future. There's already foreshadowing with the FL's biological family, so yeah. This should be one of those self-indulgent novels where the FL has a relatively smooth path in life. Which is not so bad a read if you're looking for something less dramatic and tragic, and more fluffy and smooth-sailing. <<less

The thing I liked best about the novel is the writing. The quality is great as the slow pacing allows you to get to know all the characters. The focus of the story is mainly on how difficult like is during these times. It’s not as indulgent as most poor-to-rich historical novels, and is actually pretty realistic. I like the worldbuilding and the character-centric direction of the plot. Even the cannon fodders have good foundations here. Everyone has a reason for doing the things that they do and it’s not all about black or white. The reason I stopped 2/3s of the way through is because of the MTL. The author’s writing doesn’t translate well mechanically because their language is pretty flowery, making the text only 60% readable. <<less

219. I’ll be honest, I really like this novel. It’s a slow paced slice of life novel wherein a smart and precocious little girl (that belongs in a big family) is outfitted with a futuristic SYSTEM that asks her to collect ancient fauna and flora. She starts off as a four years old, so when I say slow, I mean slow. As she is not a transmigrator, her thoughts are of course childish, even if she is rather smart, she stl lacks the wisdom of an adult. Anyway, she has a big family that has been carefully developed. However, their positions were different. She was an orphan and he an heir to a rich family. After six years, they still weren't married, but now the boyfriend has to marry a rich goal in order to succeed. the MC says no and then runs off into the mountains to live a simple life. She's too much of a mary sue too. good at embroidery, cooking, teaching, self-defense, etc. And her cold personality makes the cadence of the novel feel too... more>> dull. The ML is a general living in the same village. No one knows his identity and he mostly makes a living off of mountain prey. He's also a bit boring tbh. So yeah.

I think it would have been interesting if there was most business management. I mean, that's what I started reading this for LOL. so I guess I was a bit disappointed. <<less

C8. Don’t read the summary, it’s misleading! FL is someone that was trained to be an imperial concubine. She was sent along with several other girls to the Jing Wang fief to become spies for the current empress dowager. Just before they arrive her book—given to her by a monk who claimed that it would help her improve her unlucky life—began to fill out with details on the life of Zhou Shunhua (the protagonist of the novel and one of the girls that came along with her.) It doesn’t completely expose knowledge  of the future, but from the summary and index pages, the FL realizes that she’s only a side character to the OG!FL and... more>> OG!ML’s story. 

With the hints she gets from her book, she starts to scheme to get her hands on the heir of Jing Wang (the original ML), and ends up catching the attention of Jing Wang himself. 

The premise is not bad but I lost interest after realizing g that the summary was pretty much a lie. Lolol. The TL is also not very good. Only 75% readable. So better to wait till I’m in a better mood.  <<less
