Often times, it is luck that allows an mc to be successful, to be a mary sue or salted fish. But in this novel, the mc doesn't exactly have much luck. The story builds on the mc's 'misfortune,' his poverty, in a humorous way to build the plot. Creative and original!  <<less

Societal concepts like race, class, gender are all complex. Thus, it’s hard to comprehensively discuss the injustices and the struggles faced by those societal constructs. Considering this, the novel did an amazing job in discussing the struggles and disparities faced by omegas in an alpha- driven society. If an ABO world, really existed, I can see the ideas discussed in this novel occurring in real life. In fact, most parts of it are parallel in today’s world within various social constructs. And for that, this novel deserves much more recognition!  <<less

The arcs - its storyline, the idea behind it, the logical plot twists, the characters - it was all executed well. Too well that I binged through it and got addicted to it. At one point, esp in the last arc, I had my heart racing, worrying if the mc would be able to succeed. Yes, I know, it’s a frivolous thing to worry about since the mc is an op mc, but still.. this novel had me at the edge of the seat, having me using my brain, and leaving me charmed.  <<less

I’m not going to lie, I’m not the biggest fan of slice of life. They’re often too boring, monotone, and repetitive. I’m putting this novel here because it’s a well-executed slice of life, one that had me captivated from the start. But it’s not just that…

Life’s hard! Arggh, but whyyyyy? When you think about everything you have to go through to find your own happiness, it’s easier to just go back to bed, to cry, and be drunk on helplessness. This novel portrays the hardship of life while showcasing the beauty of strength, courage, and love. It demonstrates neglect, poverty, and plain survival all while celebrating humanity. It’s a story of grit, friendship, and hope. And I could go on and on and rave more, but the ultimate reason why this novel is here is because it was just so heartwarming! There were moments when I wanted to cry, wanted to laugh… and well, it was something I needed.

For all the emotions it had me feeling, for its story, characters, writing and plot, this novel deserves much more viewers and recognition! For all the new readers, I hope this novel gives you hope in the same way it did for me! <<less

If you’ve checked out my other rec lists, you probably know by now that this novel holds a special place for me. But I’m not going to lie, I didn't think of adding it here till now. In all honesty, this novel is very dramatic, unrealistic, and well it already has a lot of viewers and likes. Does it really need more recognition? I’m not sure. But, as I’ve written in other recs, I haven’t read another novel that does the showbiz, family, drama, slice of life combo as well as this one. It’s short, it has its moment of fluff, moments of wholesome family moments… it has romance, drama, and what more do you... more>> want? The spices are all there, it just needs someone to read it and savor it. 

Soo to answer my question again, “does it really need to be in this list?” I think so, I think it deserves to be here for its well-executed rare combination of flavors that usually don’t go well together.  <<less
