The main premise is on exploring the golden finger. Basically, a poor-to-rich story! It's not the most organized, and you will definitely discover many areas where things appear a bit clumsy. Too many things happen as well, and most of it was convenient for the MC -- making this more of a shuangwen type of story (where the progress of the protagonists is relatively smooth). I don't think there's anything wrong with that though. I had fun, and that's enough for me! [Oh, and as for the translation, it's edited MTL, and starts off pretty rough. The quality improves a little overtime, but in the end, it remains as edited MTL.) <<less

He maintained the water abilities he had from his previous life, but because of his inability to communicate with humans and his relatively weak strength, he had no choice but to go with the flow and be sold off as a pet. Fortunately, he doesn't have high requirements after living in the Zombie Apocalypse for so long, and being a Mermaid Pet in this era, where the strong humans require the spiritual soothing unique to mermaids, was a pretty cushy life. The two clumsily try to work with each other despite the MC's lack of knowledge on a mermaid's strengths and their lack of communication ability. Prompting a rather fluffy slow burn intermixed with lots of worldbuilding.

The focus is on the relationship between the MC and ML at first, with the MC working hard to bridge the communication gap and the ML doing his best to be an understanding and doting "Master" turned Potential Mate. The tone of the story is light overall! I started to lose interest by the end, I don't think it was handled very well. But I liked the beginning arcs a lot and will highly recommend it for that reason! The TL is also pretty good. Better in the beginning, kinda needs editing by the end.

A lot of readers compare it to the author's... more>> other work, called "After I Got Married, Those Who Betrayed Me Were Reborn", which is around 6-7 points similar in terms of character and world settings, but I don't think the two should be compared cause the style the author used to tell both stories are very different. This novel still has a beautiful MC struggling against his family -- who have undermined him all this time. But the MC in question is quite scheming and self-aware (opposite of the kind and aloof MC in the other novel). In that same vein, the ML in this novel is also completely different -- he's kind and benevolent rather than cold and domineering. The plot of the novel is them rising above their families and slowly working their way through the rotted upper-society ranks. I enjoyed the complex character dynamics most, and definitely recommend it for that reason! I stopped reading only because I thought that most of the character plots were out of the way, and had no interest in the external kingdom-building plots. (In terms of the futuristic setting or the sentinel & guide setting, it's not really explored in full. It's more drama than anything else.) <<less
