we get to see the characters from teens to adulthood. it was endearing how the ml discovered his feelings and confessed. that he worried if she would be willing to enter the palace.

the first part of the novel focuses on them sizing each other up. but the latter half focuses on their romance. it didn't focus on politics. there are some angst here and there but it was still overly sweet.

She really knows how to read him. But kudos to the ML because in this novel (although we all know how unrealistic it is deep down in the true ancient times) he really stayed true to her even though he had other concubines.   <<less

I absolutely love how this ML knew that there are obstacles in obtaining the female lead's heart yet he did not make unfair moves to his rivals but he did what should honestly be done in any love stories, make himself appealing to her. He trusts her and respects her.
