Firstly, rainbowturtle is my absolute favorite translator and I’ve read almost all of their translations and loved it! SMAA is another legendary read to add to my completed list and kudos to the excellent translation!

Now onto the story- this novel is fast paced, intelligent and intriguing and you don’t feel bored with any of the arcs. Each arc grows smarter and more interesting with every page and so many wonderful ideas are conveyed with analogies and the horror scripts. It really comes across well. I liked the world that the app is built within and the ghost audience was really fun.

The app was portrayed as quite fair which I really liked- it wasn’t a cheap system type thing and the exchange of your life for your greatest desire was fair in a way.

I really loved the MC. He was calm and level headed and he never loses sight of what really matters or what he really is working towards. He also has a humane side but keeps his selfishness when he needs to. Both the beautiful and ugly of humanity can be seen in him and it was not overly oppressive or distasteful.

The relationship between ML and MC fits into this story really well. It’s not fluffy but rather it’s beautiful and dark, honest and raw. I loved them both. The romance isn’t a big part of the story in terms of actual interaction but this is important to the plot and is written well with a great ending. Also you feel that the ML is also a character even without a corporeal body. Mentally though- he’s present 100%.

The secondary characters were lovely, especially the friends that the MC made. I loved Ren Ze, Lu Wen and Yan Jing, Shen Yi and Su Qing (even though Shen Yi is an as*hole to Su Qing in my opinion and Su Qing deserved way better).

Almost all the arcs had face slapping and some of the villains really did think too much of themselves but were quite s*upid. I think irrespective of many scenes being quite OP there is a sense of mystery and crisis and I didn’t feel like the MC would win easily even if I was confident in his ability to overcome.

I have become an avid horror reader and it’s mainly for books like these. This book balances all the elements of a well written horror that isn’t too much or too little. This novel really steps up the horror genre and it was so well worth each page! Give this a go because you won’t regret it! <<less

The Earth is Online is definitely deserving of the high ratings and rave reviews. It’s captivating, thrilling and depicts humanity at its finest and its worst. The plot is clever and the characters are wonderfully brought to life.

No character is perfect but even the most annoying humans and bosses find a way to creep into your heart or memory. The usage of universally recognised characters and ruthless behaviour with mild comedy in between made this intriguing, gripping and satisfying.

I must be honest, many of the games made no sense to me even when each reached its conclusion but it was interesting. The BL element in this story is so minimal that it is basically non-existent in the novel, but the novel in itself is spectacular! (There are like 3 kisses at best in the whole story). Also you don’t really feel like it’s a bad thing that there’s no romance coz they are surviving the end of the world- like there’s no time for romance. Whatever little romance exists is satisfying and sweet and very realistic!

Before Global University Exam and The Earth is Online I wouldn’t really count myself as a horror reader, but these two books have definitely opened up a new door of wonders for me. I’m certainly looking forward to more horror BL (with hopefully a bit more of a romance element)

The story ends on a really bittersweet note for some reason, maybe because of the dreary reality and the heartbreak many of the characters live through. It just got me thinking that if I had to experience the end of the world in a similar manner would I survive? (I highly doubt it coz I’m weak AF)

My one complaint was that the ending should have been a few chapters longer. There were some plot holes and it felt very rushed when concluding the black tower saga. A bit more interpretation would have nicely closed the story. I just felt a little whiplashed when it came to the real secret of the black tower. Also- what happened with Eve’s Apple?

This is an incredible read that you will never forget. Highly recommend reading this for a spectacular plot about the human spirit. <<less

I kept contemplating about starting this novel for almost a year and then eventually took the plunge and got into it from chapter 2. It’s one of those books that once you pick up, it’s difficult to put down until you see it to the end.

The pacing of the story is great and you’re always kept in the right amount of suspense whilst never losing the love story that this novel really is. I truly never expected it to be so romance centred but this is the first couple that had such feelings in all the BLs I’ve ever read (even though the ML definitely has obsessive tendencies and the relationship does have dubious undertones when looked at from a realistic perspective).

Every single arc is about falling in love over and over again. The concept of the slag can get a bit frustrating throughout the worlds, but in the context of simple reading I personally didn’t mind it too much. I eventually read this this as more of a romance than a plot heavy story. Reason being is if you keep such an expectation after the third arc then you may feel slightly underwhelmed, because finer details and more life centric information are never truly explored. It felt to me like the author wanted to focus on the relationship mostly and didn’t really expand on the characters backstories or the even the concept of central and the zone. You know about them, but do you really know about them? It kind of feels like that.

I think I went in expecting action but got some and then a whole lot of dog food! And I am not complaining coz it was great, even the repetitive parts. It’s a satisfying read from that perspective, especially if you’re looking for an easy flow and non-complicated story. Like the dog blood isn’t really dog blood and you always know that they will make it out.

My favourite arcs have to be The Open World and the Collapsed 12. In fact I enjoyed every arc overall and I liked the characters across the 300 chapters. It was hard to feel bored and each aspect and personality of both leads in each world was fascinating. I was happy with how the story began and ended and especially liked how they developed feelings for each other. It was different from the usual.

I would probably read this again in the future. It’s adventurous, thrilling and paints a beautiful world each time. I think what makes this book better than the average is that the story is unexpected in many ways but also very simple. This was also my first gaming and world building novel so I think that is why I found it more enjoyable than most. <<less

So I am new to the QT/ World-hopping genres and my first entrance into it was “The Perfect Destiny” which I didn’t really enjoy as much as I’d wanted to. That being said, I didn’t go into this book with much expectation and simply started it as a casual read to fill my tragedy and angst needs. (I am a masochist- I know) I was in fact really happy with this novel.

The first arc is what gets to a lot of readers and it’s actually one of the poorer plots in all 12 arcs. The remaining arcs are actually quite interesting and the angst is really well played out. I found myself tearing up for quite a few. If you can get through the first arc you may actually really enjoy this if you want pure dog blood tragedy because that’s the purpose of this book: To make you suffer.

It’s a read that you don’t have to do in one go (unlike me, I usually just gobble up novels in one go and this one was no different). You can pace yourself with this book and enjoy each arc for its own nuances. It’s easy for many repetitive plot points to resurface in QT novels but this story makes it quite bearable and I didn’t hate it all that much in the context of the arcs. Some of the arcs were really dark and disturbing and the translators (Chrysanthemum Garden, who are indeed the true MVPs and my favorite group of translators) indicate these triggers throughout the book so you can skip through any really heavily themed ones.

The highlight is probably the last arc and how the story is tied together. The pairing is truly realistic and flawed and the HE makes all the pain you feel throughout the novel worth it. I liked the very human last arc and probably (in my personal opinion) the most painful. Even though it feels like you’re just reading short angsty stories throughout, the last arc really puts everything into perspective and answers a lot of the plot holes and questions.

The novel is definitely flawed, and you can see this in the first arc and where the author was going through writer’s block or exhaustion. But even with these flaws I really enjoyed this author’s work and look forward to her other works. It was a refreshing experience for me and i loved the systems, 666 and the baby 444. They were the gems in this story.

I think overall it’s a definite must read for tragedy lovers and it’s definitely a novel that’s allowed me to get more into the QT genre <<less
