I also just wanted to clarify how I determine how good a novel is: 

- Although I do take “enjoyment” into consideration there are also many other factors which determine whether or not I add this novel to this list

- For example, how realistic it is. Not in the sense that the novel has to be set in a reality similar to that of our own but in the sense that the character’s actions, feelings and thoughts are realistic to a certain degree.

- I have more factors but this is gonna take forever so I’ll talk about the most important one: What can I or you take from this novel? What does it make you feel or think? What lessons can you learn? 

I tend to say that the best novels are the novels that best reflect irl societal issues and there’s many reasons for that. I feel that by portraying societal issues through characters gives readers the opportunity to view certain issues from a different perspective. I also feel that the novels that best reflect society are the ones that feel closest and most real. They’re the best to me cause they make me feel the most.
