this novel got me back into reading Asian novels again, and i enjoyed it very much. the beginning is very slow and draggy, but when the plot gets sorted out, you’re in for a treat.

i found Juho’s fear of failure such a relatable thing. the anxieties of not being good enough or being forgotten in the rivers of time are all things that constantly plague my thoughts.

i also loved how Juho could “see” his characters and “speak” to them. it was always so imaginative and fun.

tbh, i didn’t find the last 100 or so chapters all that good. i loved Kelley Coin and that director dude as much as the next guy, but i hated how they became the main side characters. the colorful cast from Korea were all thrown in the background. i missed Sang tt

like character-wise, most of the characters are pretty rounded and fun.

i know this is supposed to be a parody of reincarnation fantasy JP webnovels, but i think the parody is in the fact that this novel is actually good?

ah, and the world-building is wonderful. i definitely didn’t expect this novel to have such a vast and interesting world, but im not complaining about it

sadly, this story has the staple “hot babe”descriptions but it bothers me even more than usual for some reason. it just feels very out of place when the narrator starts going in detail about a woman’s curves or long legs or whatever 

also Planet Aquamarine/ Black Phantom arc was the best one, it’s simply a fact. <<less

i was intrigued by the high rating, so i picked it up. first few hundred chapters were great, but then i grew tired. 

the same scenario happens over and over and over: Pei Qian wants to lose some money > he creates a new product or business as terribly as he can > sike! the thing in question doesn’t actually fail

very funny the first few times, but soon grows boring. i got so bored that i gave up reading, so i don’t know if this problem will get better in the future. 

i do like this novel, so i plan on picking it back up, i just don’t know when <<less

lots of silly misunderstandings, but also a pinch of a darker understory. the darker bits are handed really well (they’re horrifying)

this is basically what you get when you mix Lord of the Mysteries with I’m Really not the Evil God’s Lackey. 

Duncan (our MC) is clever and kind-hearted while also being very OP & a lil oblivious to his true abilities. he’s also really cheeky, like he knows people fear him and he lowkey loves seeing them scared. he’s the perfect blend of Klein and Lin Jie. 

the plot progresses really naturally and the world building is amazing! the deep sea vibes are immaculate & the mystery draws you in. every major character gets their own little arc so we can get to know them better, and characters that seem like they’ll be irrelevant end up coming back and stealing my heart.

i love how he has complete trust in his family (the bond between them is kinda cute) while everyone else just sees him as mentally unstable.

 this novel has such an obvious dark and twisted overtone, so Lu Xin’s “normal-ness” is the perfect contrast. he seems like the only sane person left in the world, until you learn that he’s probably the craziest of them all.

i dunno, i just didn’t find the characters all that interesting. Luo Qiu is a pretty bland dude. oh, and i also HATE his aunt. she’s so annoying and obnoxious and every time i see a piece of her dialogue i start grinding my teeth. she’s supposed to be likable or something. wonder what went wrong?

as i read the novel, i realized what kind of story it would be, so i moved to the manhua. yup, it was as i expected.

entertaining for the first 50 or so chapters, but that’s all. it’s repetitive and a really boring read after you digest the premise.

if you’re bored or wanting something lighthearted, you probably can read this. but if you want a novel with more substance, this defo  is not for you. <<less
