Peak novels

Peak novels
The cream of the crop. No BL. Ranking after the first page is largely the order I remembered and added them. I think they’re all worth reading anyway so I didn’t put a huge amount of thought into rankings past the first page. I added small reviews/blurbs with my thoughts on each.

A story that manages to keep a great balance between comedy and high-stakes action. The premise of a hardcore sweaty gamer being reincarnated into the game they’ve grinded for years is an interesting one that can be seen elsewhere, but is presented differently here by it being not one but two of these gamers and the interactions and relationship the two have.  I’m also a fan of the total lootgoblin nature of the two protagonists in their pursuit of basically every top-tier item or event in the original game.... more>>

Unfortunately on hiatus basically indefinitely, and unlikely to ever resume (in the LN format) due to scandals surrounding the author in Korea. That doesn’t mean this isn’t worth reading, though. It’s by far probably one of if not the best “schemer” or “strategist” protagonist novels I’ve read, made even better by the backstory, world, and supporting cast.  The protagonist is written in a way that makes him seem actually intelligent (not in the forced way that many authors try to make their protagonists seem intelligent by making everyone else morons in comparison) while remaining relatable and lets you root for him even as he schemes to have atrocities occur or directly oversee them himself. Great... more>>

I’ll admit I’ve fallen behind on this one, but up to the point I had stopped reading (and I do intend to continue) this novel has been pretty consistently great. There’s an interesting (if sometimes frustrating) protagonist and cast of supporting characters who grow and change, forming real, mutable relationships. The basis of the martial arts being songs is a really interesting change from the typical cultivation and basic technique-based systems of many other novels, and the protagonist’s historical knowledge creates some interesting and often frustrating interactions with the modern world he finds himself in.... more>>

An interesting and relatively uncommon premise done very well. People are transported to another world and granted limited powers, but have every moment of their lives there available to be watched by anyone on Earth, with those on Earth being able to send messages. I like the chapters that are written as though they were posts on an imageboard or a forum, and while the protagonist seems a little wishy-washy as of now, it looks as though things may be changing. Written at ch46... more>>

This one I really like. It's an interesting idea with the setting being that of a sort-of alternate medieval earth, where the geography is similar but everything else is different. The protagonist is a cold, borderline-sociopathic individual who rises to prominence in his semi-matriarchal nation of not-elves through genuine and fairly well-written intelligence and strategic thinking. His main goal is not to rule his birth nation which he has already been given opportunity to do at this point, but rather to delay its inevitable collapse and subjugation until after he establishes a fallback home for himself outside their borders.... more>>

I really like your recommendation. I had read most on the list but there are some that I hadn't read. And I think we do like the same so I recommend "Rakuin no monshou" and "Resurrection of Duke Werstein"

    Thanks!!!! (。・ω・。)ノ♡
