Really cute but a bit too short for proper development to happen.

I knew I would enjoy it even from the very first chapter hehe. The story was pretty fun and quirky with all the interesting mix of personalities. Lots of (cute) characters and many CPs in this one. It just doesn't feel like the story is cohesive(?). Like, there's too many characters and details that aren't explained in depth and it doesn't feel like there's a definite plot and direction. I especially liked the exploration of morality and value differences between humans and monsters. Those parts were interesting and balances the unserious and comedic parts.

Romance part is okay tho a bit lacking. Hnnng I wish they gave more screen time for and fluff from the main CP. I would love to have that and would be willing to remove 1 less CP for that (Di Wu × Qin Chuan pretty meh and unnecessary imho). Also, the non-human sub-district office part had so much unused potential. It allowed MC to discover his origins and meet ML but after that it slowly lost significance. Maybe it's just me hoping for a supernatural office romance but fineee good enough~~ >_>

Also just want to say: Very stressed at some of the chapter comments advocating for the (crack) ship between the fathers of the two protagonists. THEY HAVE/HAD WIVES. I am a disturbed baby, please no hahahah <<less

☆ Read this because I'm desperate for more (zombie) apocalypse setting novels. And you know what, I didn't get it here HAHAHAHA. Worldbuilding wise, author pulled inspiration from different existing sci-fi and dystopian stories. They managed to tie up all these ideas together seamlessly and create a believable world with its own distinct philosophy. Humanity survived and technological progress continued but everyone's "morals" changed post-apocalypse. Now people allowed themselves to indulge in primal desires like violence and s*x. There's distinct societal division and the power one holds because of their status is of utmost importance as there's no concept of values limiting their actions. There's no conscience that'll stop you if you want to use it for evil. The oppression can be so severe that our MC has to worry about his possible fate of becoming helpless human fleshlight for 18 years. But, it's still not a black and white society where you can easily say who is good or bad. The oppressed can be the oppressor at the same time. Each person/faction have different vested interests creating a complex relationship. People in this world can be pitied, loathed, and understood all at the same time. The picture the author paints is really vivid and well done waaah ♡ 

MC is so rational and adaptable haha. Sometimes it feels like he's /too/ adaptable with his current hell when he originally gave the impression of a soft and gentle shou at first. Heck, he needed kitty videos to cleanse his eyes, okay? Plus, he was short for a boy (170~ cm afaik). Very cute. But f*ck me, he became this calm and rational gong who's a bit of a badass (at least on the outside). He has a cold aura and unyielding attitude that the dystopian people can't get enough of. This new world and the people around him are so vastly different from his old life that he's always affected and tempted to become like them. But he does his best and tries hard to hold on to his values and survive the way he wanted. His being so ressolute was a bit unreal but I like it. I accept this steeling of oneself during a tough situation. I won't accept any other type of character anyway since what he is right now makes the story work and he vibes with the ML so well aaaaaaa 

Okay, for the ML. [SPOILER & TRIGGER WARNING] to readers: This is one f*cked up little shou okay. The worst things that happened to the MC was because of him. The lies, the torture, the humiliation, the manipulation. All him. He saw the MC as his toy and wanted the MC to be look at him alone and be affected by him alone. He's the main one trying to blacken the MC and destroy his principles. The story isn't like the usual YA novels where you find someone good in a f*cked up world and you rebel together. Nopeeee, it's facing the worst monster you've encountered in your life and making peace with it and even loving it in the end. If you don't like bad MLs who hurt others and/or hurt their partners, this isn't for ya. I usually dislike this type of character but this ML was written so well. A really complex person. He's both terrible and sympathetic. His actions, while cruel, lead to some good consequences. He is a complete contrast to ML is and stands for. 

Their romance is absolutely chaotic. Started from wariness and fascination. Then some friendly feelings which turned to hatred and one-sided obsession. ML desired to control MC and he totally can and did because he holds power and the other is just a s*ave. But the MC resisted the best he can and the ML who wanted to change the other ended up as the one changing instead. Finally believing in things like love which he disdained so much. If MC was even a little bit weaker and more yielding than he is now, I'd have thrown out this story for being toxic af. The road to a loving relationship rooted on equal grounds is hard and fraught with challenges. This HE is hard won and absolutely deserved. ♡ 

I probably only have 2 gripes with this novel: 1) The double transmigration part was a bit weird and unexplained. Somehow I'm fine with the magical concept of transmigration but having 2 different but seemingly connected realities not be explained is a bit off. It's not like we can do away with the extra one tho since it's the reason MC got stronger and more importantly, it's how his mental state survived. Somehow that's question was left to god. And, 2) Ahhhh the ending!!! [Spoiler!] It was good up to the point of them leaving the city. After that it feels like things went a bit /too/ smoothly and quickly for them afterwards. We're still in a dystopian fiction, yes? I would have loved more chapters on that. Doesn't have to be many since this isn't a "create your own society and become a god there" type of novel. Just a bit more is good. Also, earlier I was praising MC's adaptability when finally outside the ML's the one being so adaptable. Like, really hun? You, a privileged little boy who grew up with a very different set of ideas, are okay with living like this just because of love? A POV from him would be nice. I want an HE but things went a little too well which was super uncharacteristic of the gritty messed up novel that this is. 

Anyway heck I said so much sorry. Can't help but ramble. It's just a really good novel and I have many feelings about it. Bowing down to author as thanks for this really good story. Sending them blessings for more stories to come ♡♡♡ <<less

I just see the potential of this QAQ Also, also, also it's an ABO novel! It could be spicier! hahaha ;u; Anyway, I like it. This story is about a married couple who slowly became estranged through the years despite loving each other very much. Love is important in a relationship but a relationship can't survive with just that alone. Proper understanding, actions, and communication is necessary too. The story focuses on the protagonists as they try to rekindle their relationship and work through their issues.

This work is really done beautifully by the author. Even the sentiment put into it as talked about by the author in the extras under the text was wonderful too. This really is a work full of sincere emotions that can pull on your heartstrings and make you feel a lot of happiness and sadness. The characters are done realistically. They are good and capable individuals who care for each other a lot. But still, they're only normal people each with their own flaws only and both of their actions have contributed to creating cracks in their relationship. They're characters you can love and sympathize with.

I daresay this work is a perfect story. I don't have anything I can criticize nor can I find anything lacking. Usually I'm the type of reader who wishes for more content but for this, 17 wonderful chapters are enough. I just really love this story so much and feel really strongly about it. Thank you, author. I am really happy to have read this and see our characters find the happiness they deserve. ♡ <<less

I am convinced by the romance in this compared to other pet turned to partner novels. In other novels, it can be really awkward because the pet-master or father-son relationship is too defined and to transition from that to romantic partners once the pet becomes human is just uhhhh... Here tho, from the beginning they were partners/family to each other and ML already knew his dog was too smart to be a normal dog so it's a smoother ride to becoming a couple. I like the dynamic they have with each other. It can feel a bit like MC is too possessive and ML has a bit of an unhealthy dependence on our MC, but their relationship is romantic in it's own way and brings a sense of security that they both need (esp for ML huhu he deserves it!) Although I do think ML accepted being with his dog too quickly. Like on one hand I understand the reasons written but on the other I'm just... I wouldn't be able to do this too fast if he were me. Where is the frog being slowly boiled in hot water? I'm glad there's no long drawn out (unnecessary) drama but also QAQ. Oh well, ML is just decisive like that hahaha

This CP is very good but for a novel about a dog, I feel deprived of dog food! MC spent too much time as a dog in the novel and when he became human there were a lot of things that needed to be dealt with. Not only was the papapa part vague which made me very sad but they don't have enough cute moments together. I am in need of more fluff, author please feed us!

The characters were very likeable. I like our MC's childishness and effort to make ML happy and his life better. ML's toughness in the face of hardship and capability is good too. Even if he was blind, he wasn't written as a soft character to be protected. I had fun reading MC trying to be assertive and show off in front of his partner but ML just beats him too it and exudes even more of the overbearing CEO aura compared to the actual overbearing CEO MC. The wife is just too capable~ Hehehe it's not the usual soft shou × strong, overbearing gong pairing. Sometimes it feels like we have a strong shou × soft and gentle (only to ML) gong instead.

Anyway, the story is just really good and I enjoyed reading it (even if now I have to suffer swollen eyes the whole day). Thank you to the author for this lovely story <<less

Like the writing is a bit clunky and the development doesn't seem natural. Story is very shallow. Since the author didn't choose to focus on certain characters or events for better exposition nor limit their work to a smaller period of time, my emotional investment on this is limited. After finishing book: Ah f*ck it seems that this a trilogy and this just HAD to end that way *sad wailing*

[Spoiler/Warning] Main CP aren't together by the end of this book and I hate itttttt.

So yeaaah, I'm now currently suffering from the lack of book 2 and 3 hahaha. By book 1, I thought it would be interconnected stories in the same world and each book has different protags. I didn't expect one long story revolving around our protags QAQ. Where did I even reach my original conclusion that lead me to fearlessly starting this? Ugh anyway, Welcome to the Nightmare Game is good ♡ I can't really count it among my favorites at the moment but I can't put it down. 

The story is really engaging with the awesome worldbuilding and it includes a lot of references to classical works. There's lots of foreshadowing which is really neat especially in hindsight when you finally understand what it was trying to hint at. I really feel like I'm reading a fantasy genre /book/ book with this. You know what I mean? It's a different painting style from the usual BL webnovel that I read and it's pretty great.

Also just want to say, I love the women on this one. Usually in BL novels there's either hardly any female characters or there's female characters but they're narrow minded or evil. I hate that. Strong and kind female characters can coexist with gay couples, ok??? This book satisfies my love and desire for strong female characters and each one is complex and not 2D. Thank you author ♡

The novel is a pretty easy read and I'm surprised at how quickly I'm passing through chapters when each chapter didn't seem that short. But there's still 3 books so OTL. Ahhh I really want to read the continuation now~~

Usually I'd be rushing to pair two close MLs but in this case it really does feel like a legendary bromance with /some/ hints of ambiguity. The protags are not holy mothers saving and forgiving everyone. They retaliate when wronged and take out tr*sh who doesn't need to exist and may bring trouble in the future. The protag's group is strong but within reasonable limits. MC is pretty OP with his abilities + rebirth but I like how he's still somewhat normal. Even with his advantages he's not the type of MC who does everything perfectly and can defeat enemies with ease. I really appreciate how they still cooperate with others to survive and that this isn't a story about them kicking ass and ruling all.

ML is pretty bland as a character, not gonna lie. And uhhh... kinda predatory??? I'm bothered that MC is only 17. ML's age isn't mentioned but he's already a working man and his childhood friend is almost 30 (27+) so he's maybe around that age too. His type is probably the typically soft uke and MC fits that. But still??? This romance progressed too quickly. He just straight up accepts being with a 17 year old and just mentioning every once in a while that MC's still too young. BUT YOU'RE OKAY WITH IT ANYWAY. Aahhh *flips table*  Someone please address this horrifying age gap. I'm just pretending to forget about it ;-; My only consolation is there's no smut scene despite the yaoi tag. The novel is shounen ai at most.

Update: there is one non explicit papapa part on MC's birthday, the day he has legally come of age -_-"

Ugh. Anyway, ignoring the questionable age difference, I still like this a lot. The story is more focused on the survival anyway; The romance is just a bonus.
