I don't know why either, but even after the timeskip, I always vividly remembered the moments of loneliness and destitution in the first few chapters. It's pretty easy to find a good novel; what's far more challenging is a novel you love. This, I love. <<less

Simply superb. Even as he schemes, building his victory upon countless deaths, Luo Wei still remains one of my all time favourite characters. The sheer amount of torture and pain our dear MC has gone through is almost unbelievable to me. Still, there is something so pure about his heart, something that can never be tainted - be it saving Wei Lan's life, or sparing a family he owes nothing to, or those small moments when he can just enjoy sitting with friends and family.... more>>

MC actually cares about the owner of the body he transmigrates to, and he always keeps their particular circumstance in mind, in hopes that they will be able to lead their lives well. His consideration and empathy make him so satisfying to follow, and you can't help but support him. If you're still hesitant, just read it! But that sense of uncertainty & vulnerability is also mixed in with the anticipation & confusion of falling desperately in love. And not understanding one bit of your own foolish feelings. Which is why, I especially savoured and related to this story. The two characters were truly fools, lovesick fools, drunk on their love. But I witnessed the moment when heartbreak transformed into elation. And just like how it is for everyone who ever fell in love, that single moment made the entire damn journey worth it. <<less

Mystery is very difficult to write in a realistic way, due to all the complex plots and motives involved; yet, MC and ML's adventures and even the moral dilemmas they face on occasion, all feel extremely real and relevant to the situation (even the concept of "kindness" is questioned!). Kudos to the author, a wonderful read. <<less

We follow the MC on a healing journey as he tries to overcome his past trauma and suffering. Could've been boring because it started slow, but it was so immersive, I felt a strong sense of connection and was invested enough in the characters to continue. Reading it was actually kinda mesmerizing, I totally got s**ked into the setting. Gentle yet bittersweet, like savouring a cup of tea. <<less

Surprisingly entertaining plots for the movies, which felt very immersive. To me, this is a standout among other superstar BL novels.

One of the most unique and interesting premises in BL, and super well executed to boot. The dreamscapes dug deep into the psyche of characters, and it was really interesting to connect the imagery there to reality. Some of the metaphors like the "General" and defeating dragons are so compelling, I even used it to encourage myself when I was down. MC and ML's relationship is one of my favourite aspects - it's very realistic; while both have complex inner lives, their love feels like a source of strength, instead of just stirring drama like in some other novels. They genuinely want the best for each other, they know how to compromise etc -  it feels so damn refreshing to read about a funny and healthy BL relationship. Can't recommend it enough! At some points, the plots were so angsty that I couldn't help being glad that the MC was just putting on an act. This is melodrama done right - it's dramatic, it's exaggerated, it's not even real - but the depth of emotion experienced by the characters is true, from beginning to end. That's good writing - I really enjoyed this! <<less

Interesting & entertaining, as long as you don't take the exaggerated plot too seriously. On a deeper level, I really appreciate that every child is given proper care and understanding. You can tell how much the MC believes his students can grow and learn from their mistakes. The innocence and sincerity of children was also captured well, leading to some heartwarming interactions. Yet, growing up inevitably leads to times when the child's world is shattered, forcing them to face the bleak adult truths that surround them.
