MC is also pretty refreshing. He's cunning, smart, and somewhat manipulative but he's not the typical cold cruel MC at all (his personality is closer to shameless/slightly pe*verted/may have some screws loose). He reminds me somewhat of KDJ and TCF Cale (but he's less cold and more interested in woman lol, no harem I promise) in that sense. Hmmm I guess in a way him and Judgement does feel a bit like ORV KDJ and YJH. While him and the 12th Knight/Adair reminds me of TCF Cale and Choi Han. 

The primary difference is that the book basically has a "no-kill" policy (or if they die then they get revived) and is generally not that heavy compared to the other books listed here.  <<less

MC is not an idiot - check, MC is smart and cautious and uses the tools available to him to the max. Plus points for the antagonists being not idiots too. 

Bromance - kind of? MC does have some sort of bromance with Leonard/Will/Mr Azik (also does a mirror count?) but it isn't that explored/deep (unlike say TCF/ORV). And also friendship with the Tarot Club members ofc. However I would say that MC is mostly a lone wolf, so the bromance level is relatively low (but not as low as Kill the Hero/Second Life Ranker).  <<less

- The MC fits my "not an idiot" criteria. In fact, he's very cunning and probably maxed the charisma and bs stats. My only issue is that his morals is a tad bit too tr*sh (very very grey, borderline evil, a reviewer mentioned uber chaotic neutral and I think that fits...in fact out of this list he's probably the tr*shiest, but at least he's self-aware that he's tr*sh... ) but he actually does care for his comrades (to his own surprise perhaps since his initial intention was only to use them). 

- The harem didn't bother me, I actually quite like the girls, probably since MC's interactions with them isn't romantic nor cringey (the one with the most romantic interactions is probably Hayan but it's more like MC trying to reign them in so they don't cause explosions). Also probably because the most prominent harem member is crazy, girl is a whole ticking time bomb OP Yandere.  My favorite is probably Jihye though since MC's relationship with her feels more like partners in crime/friends, also MC is probably closest to his real self around her (since they both know that they are tr*sh lol).

- The bromance is actually much more prominent than the romance (is the romance even existent if MC isn't in love...)  and is integral to the whole story so it gets a big plus point. The story's main focus is on MC and the lovely regressor Hyunsung, but personally I really like the bromance of MC and Deokgu.  <<less

- This MC is more empathetic/less cunning than my typical preferred MC, she was able to keep her cool and be rational in her choices most of the time (can kill if necessary, isn't overly rash, might choose to help out of goodwill reluctantly while cursing herself as to why she is doing this but only up to a reasonable extent and only after thinking it through first) and she's smart enough to be able to draw the conclusions that the readers guessed within a reasonable amount of time/chapters. Overall, while it's not at a level where you will say wow, it's also not at a level where you will facepalm. 

- It's Yu Wo. Of course bromance abounds. Their interactions are wholesome (Dage best character, fight me). And as its Yu Wo, the comedy is quite funny as well (well it fits my taste at least). The part that really hit is still the extra story of the Ice Emperor though, that one was ouch. 

- The plot is written well. Action scenes are well-illustrated so it's quite fun to read.   <<less

- The bromance is exquisite. The relationship progress between the two brothers is really sweet and the other side characters are pretty awesome too. I like how the MC deeply cares for his friends/brother/uncle/dad and also how his care is reciprocated by those around him. 

- MC (Yuyin)  is an idiot but a likable idiot (really I was surprised at how much I ended up liking him since his characteristics doesn't fit my preferences for protagonists). An idiot in the sense that he isn't actually s*upid (the genre is mystery after all so MC does have some level of intelligence) but sometimes he acts like how horror movie characters act (you know that alley is hella suspicious so why go there?) and when someone he cares about is in danger he throws all caution into the wind and rushes head first into danger despite having 0 self defense ability without calling for support/back-up first (gahhh MC whyyy). But since the only consequence is our poor MC getting beaten up (I am in awe at how durable his body is) it doesn't feel too awful. And the wholesome fluff moment of people worrying over MC afterwards makes up for it I think. 

- The other MC/Main Side Character (Yu) is smarter than Yuyin in that he is normally not as rash (but sometimes gets dragged into Yuyin's....adventures) and is quicker in solving the mystery/connecting the dots. He is particularly rash if it concerns the one thing related to what happened to him in the past though (this is the one overarching mystery/plot in this novel).  <<less

- The bromance is still exquisite and since the focus shift on every arc/volume we get to see other friendships aside from Yuyin's! Like Yan Si and Prosecutor Li's friendship which is mostly comical but kind of sweet in its own way. 

- Our MC Yuyin finally learns some basic self-defense skills and also learns to call for support first (when possible) before rushing headlong into danger yay! Also since the focus shifted towards other side characters (like Yan Si!) who are more mature/experienced, they are generally smarter as well and know what they are doing (well ok maybe not all of them, but Yan Si definitely knows what he's doing).  

- The cases are more complicated with more details and the ending is also less "perfect" compared to the previous book, the most affected character being Yuyin who is psychologically impacted by it (our MC is too kind....) but on the more wholesome side his friends are there to cheer him up and support him through it <<less

First of all the story itself is well done. I was a little worried since the last arc had less chapters than normal but I thought the ending was decently done (slightly rushed but it's not bad and the open ending is somewhat fitting). The horror/mystery element makes it a thrilling read and the author wrote this part really well (the suspense!). The comedy was funny as well which is nice (I think the sypnosis blurp gives a pretty good indicator of both the comedy element present in the novel as well as the MC's personality). The action scenes are also well-written and MC's hammer is iconic. I highly recommend this book but only if... more>> you are cool with horror novels (if not, I'd read something less scary first). 

- No harem. The only "romance" allowed is Zhang Ya. 

- MC is great. He's cunning and smart, really brave and somewhat mad (no really that one scene where he's the one chasing after the mad mu*derers and they are the ones running away was hilarious). However, he still has morals and bottom lines. That combo of mad/cunning makes for an entertaining read. 

- The bromance isn't exactly explicit or pushed to the forefront but I loved the relationship MC had with his ghost employees and I think the development was quite well done (there is angst, thrill, touching moments and even comedy). I especially love Xu Yin (I think that one kind of counts as bromance?). Heck, I'd put a friendship tag in addition to loyal subordinates.  <<less
