Also, when I say the schemes are top-notch, I mean the schemes are top-notch. MC sets up her schemes several steps in advance. For rebirth novels, I'm used to reading MCs setting up a scheme to counteract the current trap. Not Shen Miao. Oh no. She sets up a scheme, sets up a scheme, sets up another scheme and you won't see them in play until two traps later. The plot is wonderfully thought out and I can't tell you guys how much I love this novel.

Another thing I love about this novel is the way the romance is handled, especially considering that romance is not this novel's main genre. MC and ML start off as... not exactly enemies but definitely not allies either. As you continue to read, you can understand how they go from not-allies to sort of allies to definitely allies, et cetera. You understand why they fell in love with each other. They share the same goals and ideals, they help and support each other through their lowest point, they understand each other. Their love is beyond the words you read in the novel; there will never be an exact point where you read a sentence and you think, "Ah, s/he's definitely in love now." Instead, you have to sit back and about the storyline as a whole and their interactions and realize that they've probably been slowly falling in love the entire time. <<less
