You’ve Got The Wrong House, Villain

As if it wasn’t enough for me to be reincarnated as a child in the slums, I was taken to a city of crime and became a test subject.

But then, when I saw the man that came to destroy the research institute, I realized that this was the world of an angst-filled reverse harem novel.

While living a relatively normal life after escaping from the institute, the heroine of the novel moved in next door.

From the looks of it, I might be the heroine’s neighbor extra.

Originally, the heroine was to save the unconscious and fatally wounded villain and in return, be subject to a fanatical obsession.

But, why. Why is the sub-villain collapsed in front of my house?

The sub-villain, Lakis Avalon, was the king of the underworld and the very same frightening man that I had met at the institute before.

“…”

I took a moment’s glance around then I kicked the man’s body away.

You’ve got the wrong house, Villain.

I was really invested in this story, but I always get kinda turn off when everyone is so obssessed with the FL for no reason (?) and basically all other characters are cast aside bc of the power of protagonism.

Also, the ending was so bad... The were a lot of things that could give the same result but it all felt so rushed, very disappointing.

Spoiler

no, they do not end up together oficially.

Translation was fantastic, but story itself had a lot to be desired.

Overall pacing was a little scattered and too much like episodes of an anime... which in written form, gets tiring after awhile. The initial premise was really interesting and done very well, but the plot progressed at the pace of molasses. After the initial setup, the following events were like slice-of-life dragged on by 100+ chapters.

There are numerous plotholes left unexplored or unexplained and most of the events could have concluded in 1-2 chapters, not the 100+ chapters that... more>> it actually took.

Spoiler

For example, the huge majority of the story is taken up by the multiple main characters showing up and yelling at each other at the MC's coffee shop. Yet, all of these extra scenes and interactions literally ended up not contributing a single wit to the main storyline. There are so many such happenings that the story becomes extremely dragged-on and boring.

[collapse]

In terms of information density, there are way more novels out there with higher complexity plots and interesting things that happen in the same amount of words that happened to this story. There was just a ridiculous amount of groups that each took baby steps to try to discover an identical amount of information at a snail's pace.

Very little was ever resolved and the story itself ended with another open ending, almost like an anime saying that there's a second season coming. Again, not very enjoyable. <<less

Really enjoyed this one. Although it had a lot of loose ends, I still think the overall story reflected very well the sentiment of the MC.

Reading her and her interactions with everyone else was surprisingly funny, especially since she's described as expressionless, but the best commentary was definitely the bug's, Genos', and Odin's. The original FL of this story was lovely, very light-hearted and frankly maintained her Protagonist characteristic very well, no green tea, entitled b*tch to see.

The ML was the most funny with his mood swings and his blatant... more>> simping for his FML. And the OG ML wasn't bad at all.

I like that this isn't exactly a reverse harem where all the other ML s*upidly fall in love with the FL, but this interest is more subdued, and the pressing matter for them was not romance but politics. That was refreshing.

The schemes were resolved in a much more lukewarm way than the usual face slapping, but it did felt more accordingly to the characters.

Very nice read, enjoyable. With enough fluffiness, romance, sexiness, action and drama, honestly it was just a sprinkle of yandere. <<less

I have a great time reading it. The storyline is great. I finished this so fast!

The romance part though had some development in the beginning and nothing more later on. FL and ML have such a good chemistry together, I wish we get to see their sweet time together more.

I love the fact that FL hardly shows her emotions. She's strong in every senses. She probably didn't even need ML. Well, he didn't have much impact to the story in the most parts anyway.

Rubymaybe, the translater, did a wonderful job... more>> translated this novel. <<less

I decided to drop this novel since I kinda got fed up with how the story was going. The FL was too much of a busy body and seemed to have an extremely low EQ and lack of decision making skills. The author also kept on introducing new characters without properly developing the story. It felt like I was reading filler chapters one after the other.

The writing is well done, but I dropped the series because the ML’s love for the MC is so toxic. I tried to power through but I just did not enjoy the direction that the novel was going in.

I completed this novel and it is one of the novels I read to the end and enjoyed it sincerely, especially FL I can't get tired of it despite its low expression, perhaps because it sees things realistically☺😍

My only regret is not having a chapter on their wedding

It is... fine. Starts well and loses steam. I don't even remember why I dropped it. In the later half I just got bored and let it go. The female lead is a strong woman with a tragic past, but some innate kindness. On paper, this is in my ball park.

Maybe my problem was with the main lead, who has no personality beyond possesive-mafia-boss-with-magical-powers. I would have liked the story more if she got together with the heroine, that one has spunk.

Rubymaybe is an excellent translator, one of my favorites, and she did a great job on this translation

I really enjoyed this novel. The FL was not a damsel in distress and she did not become s*upid after she fell in love

The romance takes a back seat to action adventure at times, so if you are expecting pure fluff you will be disappointed

I highly recommend this novel if you like strong female leads

3 stars just because Ruby is an amazing translator. The novel in itself is boring and feels extremely long. The romance is nonexistent and the ending is unsatisfying.

Many parts of the plot were left unanswered which is incredibly annoying.

I regret pulling an all-nighter for this. I had hope it would get better but it just became a drag and I just wanted to get over it.

Give me some reaction damnit. Everyone is so nonchalant in this that it makes me mildly mad. The main couple is this power couple that fights alongside this crime syndicate thing in their town. You would expect a typical villainess story from the synopsis and initial chapters but you would be proved wrong.

There are capture-target-esque developments here but it's mostly focused on action and mystery. And that would have been fine. I love me some action mystery novels once in a while.

But what I don't like is how flat the... more>> whole novel is. It takes all the action, all the interesting concepts and make it bland as hell. Just because your M.C. Is bland in the emotion sector doesn't mean your whole novel has to be like that.

The writer writes every big event so blandly that loses all the impact it might have had. It's the same as reading a document at a 9-5 job and that makes me feel that I'm doing a chore by reading this novel.

Spoiler

Literally, the ML kissed the MC for the first time and the author managed to make that beautiful scene seem bland and unimportant.

[collapse]

The story has a lot going on and somehow the writing makes it seem like no big deal.

When I read this when the translations started, I thought, "Wow this is setting up for a ride."

But when I actually finished it, it felt like I wasted my time. Neither the MC nor the author deem the plot points as important so why should I? <<less

Its super cute, I love the FL and I would DIE for Leo. The plot was complex and interesting but not too complicated to the point that it confused me, and there wasn't a single character I didn't like or at least find interesting :) The only thing I didn't like about it was I think the ending was a little rushed, I wish I could've seen more about their lives after the main conflict :P

This novel is just a gem!

It was so interesting from the begging and kept me interested till the end. Here we have a nice characters, through a bit overpowered but that’s unexpectedly good point here, plot with action, fluff and romance. Also, what was more unexpected - comedy. For me it was very entertaining. I love the characters, especially Yuri and Lakis.
The ending and epilogue are also good. As expected. Author-nim, translator-nim, thank you! It will be my favorite novel now.

Strongly recommend, if you want to read nice and... more>> entertaining story, without much drama. <<less

Read everything through and honestly it was barely passing overall.
props to ms. Ruby for doing the amazing translations to the end.

the story itself was pretty meh, lots of characters were introduced but I feel like they didn’t get any character progress (except for maybe Kalian). Lots of loose ends weren’t properly resolved, like why’d Yuri and Lakis have this weird feeling when they touch each other, or how come Yuri looks like Selena. Though we can just deduce them from fan theories, but I feel like a proper end... more>> wasn’t really given.

The only thing that kept me going here was how yuri and lakis chemistry went, Yuri’s straightforwardness and Laki’s slyness was really fresh for me at least we didn’t have to deal with the main couple’s constant misunderstanding like how other Korean (isekai/shoujo?) novels go. They were a nice couple, but other than that everything else was anticlimactic. <<less

I'm quite conflicted with this story. On one hand, I really liked the characters. The FL, Yuri, was consistent (though she practically had no growth), and the ML, Lakis, was entertaining to read. The storytelling style made me feel like I was reading fanfiction instead of an actual novel, though. There are also many (and I am not exaggerating) plot points that don't get any conclusion/clarification at all. For example,

Spoiler

1) there's no real explanation as to why Yuri gets back her emotions when she touches Lakis

2) there's no explanation for Lakis' bug and what exactly it is

I'm also a bit dissatisfied at the ending. It was not rushed as they ended the main story, but it did not feel like it was well-thought out. I'm giving this a 3.5 stars mainly because of the translators' hard work and the fact that I liked most of the characters. <<less

My only gripes are due to personal preferences. I quite enjoyed the novel overall and am quite satisfied. I recommend it to anyone who likes OP characters whose only soft spots are the ones they care for. It's also interesting to see the characters unravel the major conspiracy.

Something unique about this novel would be that the villain never changes his stripes. He is soft in front of Yuri, but otherwise fully maintains his original personality to the end and that is OK.

Fun theory that definitely isn't true:

Spoiler

What if the 'bug' that harasses Lakis is actually an older or alternate version of himself that insults Lakis all the time due to jealousy? He's trapped inside Lakis' psyche so he can't interact with the woman that he loves. Instead he has to watch Lakis happily fall in love with no escape... heh. The best (?) part is that he wouldn't want to truly hurt Lakis or his companions, so his only method to lash out is vicious mockery. The main hole in this theory is the lack of supporting evidence.

The novel is great. The characters were interesting and I really enjoyed the journey. But the ending left me really unsatisfied. The main plot was completed but many subplots that were opened were left unsolved.

Spoiler

There were so many mysterious things like the bug, origin of ruin fragments, MC's transmigration (although I never expected it to be solved in the first place) and I thought they would be explained in the extras but the author instead wasted them on miscellaneous things. Heck, even Yuri's identity as a mutant was not revealed to the main characters of the book. We didn't even get to see Lakis' proposal!

[collapse]

It's a good read but if you are like me, who likes everything wrapped up, you have been warned. <<less

Yuri literally has the vibes of 'The Male Lead, The Hero. The Lady Boss' Like bruh, she's hot, cool, and idolized by almost everyone but still remains unbothered.

    • There's an unexpected 'Psychological' and 'Comedy' genre that keeps the story interesting.
    • The Female lead with this type of character is rare.
    • She is not overpowered but because of the experimental stuff that was done to them, she became strong.
    • Other character's POV was included in the story.
    • This ain't a reverse harem but also a reverse harem at the same time.
    • The male lead is a maiden, I love this duo so much.
On the bad side: The story is slow-paced.

The story is focused on the plot maybe that's why other characters aren't defined that much.

I only managed to read 6 chapters in full. The story seems interesting.

However, the author (or translator) likes to mix povs which disrupts the reading. In two sentences next to each other we have "I was surprised. She used to be xxxx" so mixing I and She while refering to the lead. Why not keep it either as 1st person narrative or 3rd person narrative consistently. And just on chapter 6 we have additional point of view of another character.

Don't take me wrong - I read some with different POVs.... more>> But mixing the narrative and on top adding another chara POV is too much and was simply hard to read through.

I will put it on hold. A real shame that some minor stuff pull down a good looking plot. <<less
