You’ve Got The Wrong House, Villain

Description

As if it wasn’t enough for me to be reincarnated as a child in the slums, I was taken to a city of crime and became a test subject.

But then, when I saw the man that came to destroy the research institute, I realized that this was the world of an angst-filled reverse harem novel.

While living a relatively normal life after escaping from the institute, the heroine of the novel moved in next door.

From the looks of it, I might be the heroine’s neighbor extra.

Originally, the heroine was to save the unconscious and fatally wounded villain and in return, be subject to a fanatical obsession.

But, why. Why is the sub-villain collapsed in front of my house?

The sub-villain, Lakis Avalon, was the king of the underworld and the very same frightening man that I had met at the institute before.

“…”

I took a moment’s glance around then I kicked the man’s body away.

You’ve got the wrong house, Villain.

Its okay. Honestly if your reading this for the romance, don't bother. It's the focus of the story for the first chunk, then it slowly devolves into more action + plot and the ML and FL don't see each other for 30-40 chapters at a time because so much focus is spent on the side action sub-plots that I don't necessarily care about. It's not like the side characters have romance or anything so it was a letdown for me because the main love plot is not focused on at... more>> all and that's what I read romance novels for. <<less

As boring as waiting for it to rain!

So the MC is called Arachne, she can produce thread but rarely does anything except get kidnapped. Lakis is a handsome/powerful/typical OP guy and they fall in love near instantly and then move directly to the "I can't live without you" stage, but there was no actual development for this??

ALSO: Kidnapping is the only way the author knows how to progress the plot! By ch 152! There! Were! SIX! Six kidnappings to move the plot! It very frustrating "Oh, she got taken again"... more>> and even side characters get taken and it's just, somehow very exhausting. ML has an evil twin, for no particular reason I can see except to be evil and kidnap people, and looking at some of the newer reviews complaining about the ending, I'm glad I set it down when I did!!! <<less

Too much going on with very little plot progression. Everything seems to revolve around how someone loves the main character. I like Lakis and their interactions but I find myself wanting to ignore everything else.

Oh My God!!!

The s*xual tension!

Aaaaaasasaaaaaaahhhhhh!

This story is so good, addictive, superb storyline. If you are still hesitant, just read the 1st chapter, there’s no going back.

Also,

Lakis I Luv you 💗

Full of plotholes. The author didn't even bother elaborating about the strange connection between the MC and ml. Even the progress of the supposedly novel she transmigrated into was unexplained. What about the progress of the novel and the ending? I was really looking forward to how each character plotline will differ when MC in actually involved now in their life but it actually turned into a plothole with no proper information. The male leads that werre supposed to be significant were thrown into bus to emphasize the image of... more>> the strong the ML was. And I wont be surprised if the author decided it to be a transmigration like story just to give the MC a cheat or halo effect

The ending is very anticlimactic too. Overall, the author create more subplots and at the end note, its a bunch of all loose threads. I would rate this one if not for other supporting characters and the fluffs <<less

This was a clear 4 STAR story... It was a romance-mystery story nicely mix with slice of life and light action... This had the potential to enter my favorites list, I loved it even with my nitpicking... AND THEN the story went to the toilet AFTER Lakis gone for 30+ chapters. To be honest, I already don't like stories that separate FL and ML for too long, however in this case this wasn't my prior complaint: The story gets... messy after Lakis leaves. Chapters end in funny ways. The side... more>> character's plotline gets monotone. While the main event (aka the main action) was happening, two main characters are separated. The big bad guy defeated very easily. There is no satisfaction in that. How did the story turn out like this? You wait for 100 chapters for something dangerous to happen and the two are already on different continents. What. The. Hell.

I saw people here complaining about POV shifts but believe me I've seen some real bad ones. This novel wasn't one of them.

Also, there is a witch hunt going on in the last 20 chapters... That part of the story seems way too out of place. The last struggle of the author for filling the plot holes was very poorly done.

ANYWAY.
THINGS THAT I LIKED *BEFORE CH115:
-I really enjoyed that FL didn't give much importance to the real story she read in her 1st life. She knew things can be different from the original plot and didn't get obsessive about it like in many reincarnation stories.
-I've kept imagining the parasite's voice as the venom and it added so much humor to it.
-Genos is the most normal character in this novel. I love him.
-I laughed at Siren so much in their first chapter. Such a fun character. Didn't wait for a tsundere out of nowhere in that scene.
-Anne-Marie the lesbian: Some will complain this a queer-bait but I don't care. It was cute. The character is just precious.

THINGS THAT I DISLIKE *BEFORE CH115:
-That too salty food joke in every 4 chapters: Fortunately, the author did cut out of those after a while. Couldn't found it funny.
-Odin's character change: Licking shoes quotes weren't funny either. It bored me, after a while, I skimmed his conversations.
-Kalian you rich-f*ck: Secretly the biggest a**hole. Well of course we can blame the elitist father but na. He's very c*cky in some scenes and clearly doesn't know his place. Didn't like the righteous prick a bit.

The ending was especially abrupt and shıtty. Filled with plotholes. 2 whole stars goes to the excellent translation of Ruby. <<less

The summary is better than the story.

The MC is lazy and goes goes with the flow. After getting super powers is her first thought " I must plan my escape!" Nope its sit there let them experiment more on you and after your saved then run away.... 6 years she wasted in that lab. 3 couldnt help. But this is a girl who is reincarnated and is older mentally but..... Just lets herself be experimented on. If the author wanted to use the excuse of her getting more power from... more>> them. Then make the three years interesting. Show her training secretly, crawling through vents to get the lay out, grab things for her big escape I would of been happy with her tricking the scientist. But nope...3 years wasted. Fine moving on from that big ol disappoinment that only existed to introduce the ML [again she could have been sneaky or plotting not just sitting there being tortured by medical instruments for the sake of the plot for 3 YEARS]

She learns she is in a novel... ok smart girl now she is thinking about how to avoid it or be part of it? She wants nothing to do with it.. gotcha author please stick to that then!

She is some how strong armed into working at a coffee shop.... Doesnt use her memory to be and powers to be a badass thief or invent anything... Nope forced to work as a waiter.... yeah that tripped me up.... Moving on again from things that make no sense but are so irritating...

She meets the FL of the book.... and becomes her bestie somehow.... again she wanted nothing to do with the chick but... She reminds the emotionless girl of her past dead dog from a life ago and just melt.... Plus the FL can't be in the area without our MC gushing how pure and good she is and just has the biggest soft spot for her and will now do everything she can for her [like kill ppl for her without FL knowing because she is creepy like that].... How is this girl emotionless again? Brainless yes. But for an emotionless girl she has them constantly... Author that is not an emotionless girl that is a dead faced girl who still has feeling just doesnt show them on her face.... Moving on again from irritating things that don't make sense...

Now we havent even gotten to the ML landing on her doorstep and deposing of him elsewhere as the summary says but already the author is contradicting themselves at ever turn.

  • Your write your MC as emotionless but she actions on her emotions and conscience constantly, not rational or logical like was implying when you constantly state she is emotionless!
  • You write your MC as someone who remembers another life and is mentally older, but she doesnt use past knowledge to her advantage, she doesn't act mentally mature as she constantly makes desicions on a whim passed on her supposed none existent feelings...... What was the point of having all that information if your MC is acting like a regular person with no foreknowledge. What was the point of saying she is "Reincarnated in Another World"
  • She has powers but is more passive aggressive. Which would be fine if she was witty and clever. If your character is going to be passive aggressive then being clever and witty should be a given. If you only have the passive aggressive part that makes a dull character.
  • She goes on and on about how pure and wholesome the FL is... Like so much so I thought this girl was crushing on her. Again emotionless girl gushes about the FL every time. The FL has a scene. Not to mention the huge soft apot for her. I was hoping since she was going to end up with the villain that the MC would be more gray morally even a villainess and not whorship the naive and light FL [i could be biased here since I dont like naive light dumb characters who only have "naive but wholesome charm" like thats the only strength is being a good person and the world is handed to her... unrealistic plus boring]
  • Now once the ML lands on her doorstep does she push him off onto the FL or somewhere else and ignore him like is suggested? Nope she takes him in after the FL in all her godly light goodness steps outside. Because the emotionless girl..... has emotions and makes decisions based off them and is weak to her emotions. Once treats him it just seems to get even worse.
Again this author throughout the whole story [15 chapters that I have read so far] states one thing but has the MC act the total opposite.

I was looking for a morally gray MC who takes advantage of her past and foreknowledge to plan ahead to her way of life. That she was going to have superpowers and her emotions dulled were a huge plus! The MC had endless possibilities to succeed in life. Thats what the summary implied along with the tags. What was delivered was the complete opposite. <<less

So far, the story is really great, love the main character, her personality and the way she handles certain situations just really makes me admire her. I am really satisfied, with her relationship with Lakis (who I think is the ML) I find it really cute how both of them just seem to be blend with one another, their personalities just match, and I really love how everything is going so far. Would love to read more to see how the story develops.

This novel is very good, it is one of the best novels that I have read about the incarnation in the novel read the main personal in her previous life

Spoiler

The main male character is very interesting as he fell in love with the female main character from the first sight, unlike what he did with Anmari (the main character in the novel from previous life).

[collapse]

I hope that the plot will continue in this way calmly and steadily

I am still waiting for chapter 21 This is the only drawback

I have read the entire novel.

The novel has several pros and cons. Both the leads have an interesting persona and interactions. The story also has a decent plot.

However, the shifting of POV in the story feels rather unprofessional. The worst thing about the story is the ending as it feels as if the author got bored writing the story and ended it abruptly. This is due to the fact that several key aspects go unanswered even after the novel is completed. I was really disappointed with this as it felt... more>> like an unfinished novel. Overall I would give it a 4/5 star, but the ending takes it down to a 2.5/5. <<less

How is there no Slice of Life tag, but there's Romance tag? Whose Romance? I don't want to say scam, but it's one of the worse romantic relationship build-up ever.

That's right, this is a slice of life of a coffee shop waitress with bunch of stalkers, and telling how many events just unfold to disturb her peaceful daily life each and every times until eventually it drove her out of her house and left her unemployed. Sad ending indeed.

A lot of unanswered/unsatisfied stuff until the end,

What was actually the... more>> microorganism-Schizophrenia inside the Male Lead..? Y'know, the one which at one point eventually fell silent and forgotten after it's role (whatever that was) was no longer necessary?

What about her fluffy-emotional-h**ny-whatever feeling when MC touch the Male Lead guy? Why was that happen? Blatantly obvious Plot device to induce romance between MC and the Male Lead?

Why introduce the Ancient Nuclear site whatever / Ruin fragment mysteries at the very end like it would make things more explainable?

*sigh*

If I read this with the expectation of someone reading a Slice of Life Novel then this would be relatively good read, but.... *sigh* <<less

The synopsis piqued my interest in this novel. However, as I read chapter by chapter, it became dull. I like the MCs, but there's so much going on that I'm not interested in reading the other parts anymore. The other characters, namely the fl's unordinary friends, were very interesting tho. This novel isn't bad but it's not that great either. The plot is good, and I'd like to see how it ends, though I'll probably skip some parts.

I'm giving this a 3/5. The premise is interesting, however, the author ruined it. The author didn't focus on the interaction between our protagonists or the action from the interesting premise, and instead, he focused more on boring conversations between side characters that won't advance the plot at all. It's all over the place.

If you're starting to read this novel, I highly suggest that you start reading Prologue on MissRuby's website translation. I think the low rating comments have read the first versions of the translation. Miss Ruby translated it well that's why a lot of readers love it. The link of prologue in this website will bring you to other translator's work so make sure to directly visit miss rubys website for a better experience of this novel.

This is really great novel. The plot is well written and the characters are amazing.... more>> The story will be much more interesting as you read it. One of the best webnovels I read so far 👍💯🌟 <<less

The novel should focus more on the relationship between the MC and the male lead. Instead you have this boring subplot you have to skim through, just to get some short interactions between MC and the male lead. The neighbour Anne-Marie is enjoyable too, but all the other characters are unnecessary and can be easily cut out of the story.

Everyone should've expect that this wouldn't have much action because the tags say so that it's a shoujo romance so it should be obvious that there wouldn't be much action involved. The ending wasn't as bomb as I thought it would but I think it suits the MC's character and I mean as long as Lakis is fine with it then ig good for him lolll

Other might perceive MC as Mary Sue just cuz she has powers and pretty but IMO she doesn't sounds like one. After all it's not... more>> like she's free of weaknesses (she has some too), goes around beating up bad people in the name of justice, seducing people with kindness and blah blah (insert Mary Sue's other characteristics) The MC isn't really mean, she's quite nice towards other people around her and I think she's a pretty normal person that function normally like the way she treats people who annoys her seems normal to me, don't we all do that? Like when we're done with people's bullcrap.

But the highlight of this story, the main dish, the spice in my curry (at least for me) is the interaction between Yuri and Lakis. Like they're so cute together mans. Yuri's pretty bold and straightforward about her relationship with Lakis, she just straight up asked him whether he likes her and that's actually pretty 😳 Lakis's gap moe is my favourite part though. Both of them really match well with each other.

Ah, don't forget about the excellent translation. They're great and very easy to understand. Kudos to Miss Ruby for translating this gem and 2 other novels. I wish other people can try to at least finish the story before giving bad reviews but I guess you don't want to waste your time :/, well it's fine. I'm just saying, not many people will agree with my opinion but it's okay, we are allowed to have different opinions about everything as long as it doesn't hurt people's feelings, that is. Though if the other person's opinion is plain rude then I guess that's a different thing <<less

To be honest, it's a mixed bag for me.

I really enjoy the side characters, and the MC is fine for the most part, aside from a few specific issues.

It's really unfortunate. I really like the entire 'mutants' thing, how all these people are living the consequences of being former test subjects, yet it's not played out angsty or anything. It's just their new norm, as weird it is compared to any normal life.

These people are unable to care about things beyond themselves and one or two obsessions. The mutant excuse... more>> works really well to avoid them feeling shallow as it's essentially a defining characteristic for them. Aside from the MC, who just seems like she gets a mellowed out version of the obsession, but shares it around much more liberally. It's not too bad, but it's a bit tough when she goes through a lot of effort to do something, then when it's ruined, she just shrugs and says that she didn't really care that much about it in the first place.

It's especially bad when
Spoiler

Leo and Siren get hurt by Odin, who she's proven to care about, and yet she mostly just shrugs it off as a minor issue. The fact that Odin even stole the ruin fragment she obsessed enough to forget entirely about a job she was doing just to steal it, then shrug it off like it was nothing but a cheap collector's coin. The fact that Lakis got it, and yet Yuri never even notices was even worse.

[collapse]

There's an amazing amount of plot contrivances which are spawned because the FL conveniently stopped caring about something enough to just gloss it over. She's written as a smart, observant character, yet half the time she's written as an air head when it's more convenient for the author. It's not always bad and her indifference makes sense, but occasionally something she has reason to care about then suddenly stops for no good reason can get frustrating.

The thing though I could no longer stand is that the ML and FL's relationship is essentially an abusive one, and the ML's getting away with it without any hints of actually changing for the better. He effectively follows the same path he does in the book he came from, yet there isn't any hint of him being punished for it like he was in the book.

Honestly, their relationship is basically that of a druggy and her dealer. Actually, if it ended at only that level, it wouldn't be that bad, but the FL lets the ML walk all over her, and hardly even notices that it's happening. And the few times she does, she just shrugs with indifference despite fully knowing what sort of character he is.

An MC is a character you're generally supposed to care and root for (obvious exceptions not withstanding). It's hard to continue rooting for a character when they conveniently become a door mat the moment the ML or any of the major male characters walks into the scene.

It's one thing if there was tangible growth, but I couldn't' see any hints of that in any of the characters.

Personally, I keep rooting for the FL and the Mary Sue to get together even though I know it's not going to happen. The FL and ML are definitely written to being together unless if the ML does something the FL decides is unforgivable, but where I'm at, there's no fallback character. The original book's ML isn't viable due to his beliefs. Her favourite character isn't viable as other than being her favourite character in the book, he had no real relationship with her.

All the other major male characters from the book aren't real candidates either. The only remote possibility is the Mary Sue, as she seems to have some interest in the MC in that way, but it's hard to imagine that the author will write things that way due to the gender wall when yuri hasn't been hinted at beyond some one sided blushing in over 80 chapters.

It feels like the only way for the FL to become happy is to abandon romance all together, but I can't see that happening when the story is so full of flirting between the FL and ML.

If you can stomach a story which is half awesome stuff going on in a fantasy city, and half about an abusive relationship told in detail, then this is the story for you.

If you can't handle the MC being someone who keeps coming back to her drug lord over and over, then I recommend you look elsewhere. <<less
