In a world where reality and game seemed to have merged, with countless Monsters running rampant, with various Secret Realms and Dungeon Instances, one needed to be strong.

Strong enough to withstand the onslaught of these Monsters!

To do that, each person must go through Profession Changes and madly Level Up!

On the day of his Profession Change, Lu Fan had obtained the Hidden Profession, Dragon Tamer. However, this Profession was deemed the most useless since the Dragon Tamer would need a Giant Dragon to show its true prowess.

What were Giant Dragons? They were deity level existences. Taming them was impossible, thus Dragon Tamer rightfully earned the title of the most useless Profession. Fortunately, Lu Fan was not normal. He was a transmigrator who had awakened a System, the Super Treasure Map System!

With his Giant Dragon accompanying him, Lu Fan could sweep through everything, causing the entire world to tremble.

Not sure why the nationalism tag was missing, but I added it. The translator claims in a chapter note that they toned it down because it was irksome but even that was way too much for me. Normally I'd give it one star for that, but I actually found it reasonably fun before that, even if not particularly original, so I gave it two.

Maybe the events around chapter 50 are just a short burst and the nationalism won't pop up again, but I'm not willing to give it a second... more>> chance. <<less

I came for copper and got some high quality copper.

I came in expecting a power trip fantasy with dragons and that's what I got. It's better than I expected so far though.

Pros:

    • Dragons
    • Decent translation (Better than MOST Chinese novels I've read, outside of WuxiaWorld)
    • Occasional genuinely funny moments
    • The harem is not a big part of the plot (it pretty much just exists)
    • The System doesn't force the main character to do s*upid things for "comedy"
    • Dragons being Cute (Not like Roan Miru, but still cute)
Cons: (mostly the usual)

    • Underutilized plot devices
    • The dragons don't get enough "screen time" (especially outside battle) because the main character is always hiding his power (an overused plot device to limit an OP MC)
    • Aside from a few decent ones most battles are boring/filler (a common problem with overpowered protagonists)
    • Occasional moments of strong nationalism and nationalist sentiment. (Can a Chinese novel without an overt, or covert, dose of government propaganda even exist?)
    • No Dragons have polymorphed/anthropomorphized yet, so the cover image feels like a lie (this one is mostly personal).
Overall: Enjoyable (Especially if you like dragons) as long as you don't get hung up on the occasional moments of strong Nationalism (that the translator already toned down). Just don't expect a masterpiece and enjoy with a light heart.

Chinese fantasy novel about a guy who transmigrated to a world that seems to be more of a game world (eg something like Diablo) than a real world with game elements. Everyone has a level, everyone can get a 'profession' at level 10, everybody sees status screens for people and items, etc. The whole world building seems to be focussed on not having to talk about background stories, build up of a subplot, and other things that are normally needed to connect all the subplots and major plots into a... more>> cohesive whole. The story only contains the things that make the main character look good and none of the things that are needed to make it a good complete cohesive story.

For me there are 3 elements to writing a good story, the story itself, writing quality and character design.

The story itself contains elements that could lead to a good story but since most of these elements are stripped away to focus solely on action and making the main character look good it fails at the story part.

The character design is awful, really lacking a lot. None of the characters have personality, they are 1 dimensional and are only there to fulfill one role and none are there to spice up the story. There isn't even a traditional 'fatty' best friend that is there to bring in some humor. There is only the main character and his harem.

The writing quality is not good. Even though the author has preemptively removed so many things that should make writing a good quality story much easier but it only results in it being too obvious that those things are missing. For instance the MC is an orphan but there is no explanation of how his parents died. He lives with his 'aunt' but there is no mention of if they are blood related or not (she is described as the 'older sister' character but has a different last name than the mc). The only other people that are mentioned more than once are either part of a future harem or are part of a peanut gallery that is there to express amazement at how cool the main character is.... the only thing that I'm missing to make me stop reading completely is a main character with annoying character flaws (the greedy 'rip off everyone' type of characters are the worst)

The only reason why I gave the story 2 stars is because the translation quality is, so far, pretty good. I haven't seen any indication that this is a machine translation (the gender pronouns are used correctly till chapter 80) <<less
