Hi, I'm the current translator for the novel. As the time of writing this, the novel's raws are at chapter 1411, and that's what I've read. This is my overall opinion on the novel, so please take it with a grain of salt, but know that it's good enough that I'm surprised no one has translated it before I did.

The positives:

+Overall, the real genre of the novel are Action and Comedy, while there are many more genres mixed in, the essence of it are Action and Comedy. There's going to... more>> be an abundant of comic relief, coming from every single character, even the most serious ones that you don't really expect to know how to crack a joke.

+Comedy is used as a sort of tool to break up the level of tension that's built up through the constant high-stakes action. And it's used in all the correct places, since I've not felt bored throughout the whole novel, no matter if it's the jaw-biting cliff hangers, or the occasional mini-filler arcs that lasts for 1-4 chapters at a time, mostly acting as world building (and trust me, with 1k4 worth of chapters, there's a LOT of filler arcs).

+Different from the normal brainless power-doping of the MC, this MC actually uses his head, a lot, like, 90% of the problems he solve he uses his head, 9% that he solved with violence, but actually couldn't be solved unless he used his head first, and a measly 1% where he just goes ham.

+There are many lovable and memorable side characters, many of which are actually just as clever if not more clever than our MC, and our MC is plenty clever, many of which manage to pull the rug under our MC without him knowing soon enough.

The negatives:

+The first 200-300 chapters are widely believed to be the worst part of the novel, as this is the author's first novel. It's filled with misinformation, details that would later be retcon-ed and typical Chinese novel troupes, which discourage many readers. This is the reason why I'm currently releasing 18 chapters a week, to try and leave the boring parts behind while quickly getting to the good parts.

+Our MC is almost always the weakest person in his environment, despite the fact that the resources he has makes him seem the like strong OP MC. So people who likes OP MCs that would steamroll through everything wouldn't find what they want here.

+Fast pace: there's almost always something happening. The author have used techniques to stop the pace from being too overwhelming, but if you're a reader that likes a slice-of-life plot, you won't find it here.

+The amount of fillers, despite the fact that this novel is so fast-paced you almost never see the MC take a rest, ever, the author still manage to sneak in plenty of filler arcs. Of course they're resolved quite quickly (1-4 chapters) and are written in such a way that people can enjoy, and not all of them are useless filler, but the readers don't quite know that until at least a dozen chapters later (sometimes hundreds). So some might be tempted to just skip fillers altogether, and miss details that would later become a crucial plot point.

tl;dr: I consider the novel to be one of the best in the Apocalypse genre, and a masterpiece in its own right, but it have its flaws and will not fit everybody. At the least, it'll be an enjoyable read to binge through once there's like 400-500 chapters (I'll try my best XD). <<less

SUMMARY
Decent speed read if you have nothing better to do.
Basically a poorer xianxia version of "Rebirth of the Thief Who Roamed the World" (2010) . With all the identical faults that other novel had and more. World building is pretty confusing and illogical. Chapters and chapters of pointless face-smacking.

PREMISE
MC Gu Qing Shan gets a second chance to time-travel to the past and save humanity against the invasion of dimensional traveling demonic races. He has to use his newfound god-level cheat skills to help a parallel xianxia world... more>> as the last dimensional bastion against the demonic race, while simultaneously defending his own dimension.

COMMENTS

(1) Odd / poor world building
MC is from a technologically advanced dimension. Humans experience a constant dimensional shift (author's version of VRMMORPG) that allows them to access a parallel xianxia world. They have to work with xianxia cultivators to fight against a demonic race... else once xianxia world falls, the flood gates will open to MC's own dimension. Note that demons are already able to make "minor" incursions into MC's current dimension.

-- The shift between the sci-fi and xianxia dimensions is really odd. No use of a "NerveGear", nada, just a random system prompt that happens to everyone. And yet somehow humanity just accepts all of this as a "virtual game" until the government tells them later that it isn't a game.
No discussion about who were the higher powers that gave these powers to humanity (as of Chap 110). People just accept it.

-- The time dilation doesn't make any sense. Xianxia world is much faster where 1 day xianxia = 1 hr sci-fi.... going one way. But you can only enter xianxia world after 1 day in sci-fi world, and no time dilation happens. i.e. 1 day sci-fi = 0 hr xianxia. Yup, I bet I just broke your mind there.

-- Modern tech is virtually useless against demons, only xianxia powers work. WEIRD.
All humans can bring back inventory/skills/powers from the xianxia world to sci-fi world and strengthen themselves against demonic incursions. But nobody ever mentions bringing advanced technology to the xianxia world. So what's the point of having a sci-fi world? Why bother writing about modern tech, spaceships, mecha, or random sci-fi jargon thrown around in the first 30 chapters??!
Did nobody think that modern tech has at least several supportive functions that might help? Communication tools? Satellites to chart maps and detect troop movements? A giant demon could smack down a flying communication talisman, but I'm pretty sure it can't block radiowaves? Heck they were even talking about how easy it was to stop enemy communication by SHOOTING DOWN A MESSENGER BIRD!

-- In one chapter we have mechs and spaceships flying around with pointless infighting amongst humans in MC's dimension, and the difference comes down to minute technological superiority.
In the next chapter we have Saint level human completely destroying half a dozen other Saint level demons with a wave of her hand. The dichotomy between science and xianxia is ridiculous and poorly balanced.

There are tons of other novels out there that have written about different dimensions co-existing (sci-fi vs mystical) and powers/levels that balanced. Best example is "The Ultimate Evolution", where different movie worlds had completely different systems (scifi, magic, mystic, etc) but the character stats worked out well.
There are also popular strategy games with this kind of background (Starcraft's Terrans/Zerg/Protoss, Endless Legend's 14 different factions with their own unique powers, etc). And yet the author can't balance 3 different factions (2 humans 1 demonic).

(2) Broken system mechanics
-- There are 4 basic classes with normal skills and growth skills, generally from levels 1-5, with growth skills supposedly being super amazing because they can break that limit. There is one class called "God's Chosen" that has random powers... makes no sense. That's not even a class anymore, that's a CLASSLESS category.

-- There are also cultivation levels that follow typical xianxia conventions (Qi Training - Formation - Golden Dan - Ascension.... you know the drill). And there are sublevels 1-7 or whatever for each level. But somehow it's easy to leap across entire realms and kill someone higher leveled. MC just straight up goes Rambo OP at the beginning, and starts killing monsters way past his level (Qi Training killing Golden Dan). Huh??

-- MC's cheat skill is confusing and breaks the dynamics of the story.
He gains the abilities of the previous user of whatever weapon he pick up. Then MC proceeds to kill demons in entirely different realms ALL THE TIME (Qi Training sniping Golden Dan). That's a... 10-20 level difference? Huh?

MC was an OP super-skilled swordsman in his past life. What's the point of becoming Legolas (bow) or a weapon master now? How does being an all-round expert fit into the greater narrative of saving humanity? This selfish power just makes ALL side characters completely irrelevant since MC can do anything/everything.
There's no I in TEAM. There's just Gu Qing Shan. Utterly s*upid setup.

(3) Weak harem / cast of characters

Not sure what's the point of building a harem of beautiful women around the MC when he hardly pursues any love interest. That's just a pointless tease and distraction. Which is unfortunate because several of these female leads (the princess, his master, etc) actually have decent origin stories and personalities. And as mentioned above, the entire cast is weakened because of MC's pointless superpower.

Other reviewers have noted that the novel supposedly gets better after a couple of hundred chapters, but I doubt any reader is willing to wait that long if it started out that bad in the beginning. I'm not sure how the world building and structural problems mentioned before can actually be retconned/fixed. If I'm mistaken, please send me a message. I'll edit my review if needed. I'm guessing the pointless face-smacking and snobby Chinese nobility will disappear at least. <<less

One of those standard xuanhuans poorly disguised as something else, in this case as Sci-fi, and full of plot/worldbuilding holes because of it.

The premise is overly convoluted, bear with me: MC is from a tech world with Mechas and interstelar spaceships. There was a VR game that took ppl to a cultivation world being invaded by demons, but it's not a game but another reality. After the cultivation world is destroyed it was the MC world's turn. Still following? It's not over yet. Anyways, ppl in the Mecha world logged... more>> into the cultivation world with a system to help in the battle agaisnt demons. In the end they lost, but the MC got back in time with a War God System which is basically a cheat, because... bah, who knows.... 'god did it', probably. For some reason, only he can access the 'game' right now even though it wasn't 'launched' and go to and from these two realities every day.

So, Cultivator vs Mechas vs Demons while the time traveler MC pings between realities every few days. Ok, a little too much at the beginning but sounds cool. There's also Professionalist (another word for cultivators) in the Mecha world, but let's ignore that for now.

Eventually you'll see technology sucks and Mechas are being destroyed by a bow and arrow or a bone spear, all because 'cultivation energy'. Guns don't exist and don't work just because, missiles also don't exist even when intergalatic travel already does and in summary, the author doesn't know sh*t about modern warfare or technology, nor he developed his own fantasy version properly.

I was raging when a few chapter after a Mecha, with the greatest technology available, a more than 1 ton hunk of hardened steel, was cleaved in half by a bone spear, but the MC get's a thin golden armor that takes several hits of demons without breaking. Why? Because 'cultivation energy'. Nitpicking or bad worldbuilding, I'll let you decide. But know that the author doesn't bother to create a special alloy or element that would explain why thick plates of steel are tofu and the thin golden armor is virtually indestructible. He just says 'because cultivators'.

In the end, it's all about the MC in the cultivator world eating pills, killing stuff and leveling up. Kill a monster and gain xp/soul points, get that super cool manual to be strong, go to sect competitions, sword enlighment (even though there's a system) etc. Then he comes to his reality with all his cool powers and slap faces, save people and collect beauties. Yes, there are plenty of c*cky young masters showing hate for no reason only to be bit*h slapped and come back with family reinforcements.

As for the Professionalists in the Mecha world, they are more powerful than Mechas and aircrafts as well, why? Not explained either, except that they are 'noob cultivators' that don't understand 'energy' and while some ppl are born with it, most aren't.

This doesn't deserve the current high ratings at all. I'd give this a 3 instead of 1 otherwise, since even though is generic with awful worldbuilding and power systems, the pacing is good and there's always something happening at all times. The Author manages to create good tension and characters but usually blows it up with the plot/worldbuilding holes.

I liked most of the female character so far as well, except for the first Su something that is bland, but insteresting female characters in these kind of novels was a good surprise, even though they all love the MC for plot reasons.

Anyways, I wrote this for those who, like me, got into this novel thinking it would be an original idea. It's not. This is generic cultivation overpowering technology and demons. The cultivators powers are vast and reality bending, to the point that it becomes anything the author wants at that particular time. There is no proper 'power system' even though cultivation power is used to solve most problems, which broke the novel apart for me. That and the usual young masters, harem, plot armor cliches, of course.

Let me just add that the reason I mention Mechas so much is because the Author spent the first dozen chapters foreshadowing it: The MC was a god level engineer that would revolutionze the current tech of the world, going to a Mecha related school, working at a Mecha factory, etc. He even built a super Mecha for love interest #1 and gained infinite money because of it. Then suddenly the Author must've thought "I can't write about Mechas... f*ck it, they all tr*sh now. Any move with 'energy' can blow them up!" and it became all about cultivation. There was too much preparation for suddenly not mentioning them at all. <<less

Of all the going back in time to pre-apocalypse novels I've seen, this one has the most solid start with the most coherent plot

Solid 4.5/5

The only problem I have with the story so far is the earth sequences tend to be really over the top, not nonsensical but pretty unbelievable

Edit ch 990

3/5 for me at this point, if I have time I'll come back to it later but I don't feel like sinking more time into the story when it still feels like the author has no idea of what he wants to do with it.
Spoiler

The good

- characters have some funny moments

-side characters aren't all one dimensional accessories to the protagonist

-MC usually wins major victories in interesting ways

The bad

-the world building, everything about it is random, MC goes to try to repair his sword? Better make it a 300 chapter arc where I introduce and invalidate 2 major groups of enemies and rewrite the world structure

MC needs to build an entire world inside of himself for some reason? Two incredibly vague chapters

Enemies are introduced as unbeatable God level threats and quietly swept aside to make room for new metavillians seemingly on a whim, why build up actual tangible villains with their own established factions when you just randomly expand the universe on a whim to create new enemies and then rewrite the old enemies as joke level fights.

- The power structure

The author points out constantly how power in the world is more rock paper scissors then it is one size fits all, not everyone cultivates etc etc, but offers 0 explanations for how everyone else gets stronger if they don't cultivate, or any type of power divisions beyond mentioning the cultivation realms once, it's impossible to have any tangible grasp of how strong the MC is 99% of the time and when we do know you better believe the author is about to expand the world and make him an ant that runs around avoiding all the invincible new guys

- The MC is always right, plot armor isn't always super heavy but you notice after awhile that seemingly every random decision really gets squeezed to the extreme to praise and benefit the mc

Kill some random on the way to the land of the dead?

Oh you freed my spirit have a reward

Refuse to give up the armor?

Oh I would have betrayed you anyways if you had

Repair the random sword instead of doing the easier smarter task of getting another one first?

Oh it's the secret super god tier sword despite no prior indication

Choose to upgrade your stun every single time you get a chance at a new random magical power for no overt reason?

Okay we'll give you a secret sword technique to actually make that stun useful and now you're a God if you get near anyone

- romance, 950 chapters in the author points out the MC has spent less than a day with two of the "main girls" and yet they seem to be willing to chase and throw themselves at him despite not seeing him for years at a time, honestly it's more like a Japanese harem protagonist than anything at this point with the only woman who is consistently around him being his anthropomorphic swords

-cultivation, this ties into power systems but seriously bugs me unto itself, everyone constantly jumps in power for seemingly no reason, there's a point where the MC trains for years and years in an alternate past universe, comes out and is barely stronger than his friends/the girls

Why? For that matter why can the MC jump major level to level to level at times then go hundreds of chapters at one level and never even considers cultivating, theres seemingly no thought put into it at all half the time

Overall the story feels like the author didn't plan anything out past 50 chapters and he let's his imagination run away from him regardless of how well it fits in the established plot, and instead of trying to tie anything up, he's more interested in constantly adding in higher civilizations and power systems to throw the MC in, which is fun for awhile but gets tedious fast.

Very disappointing. It started great and had a great premise but completely threw it out the window after a few hundred chapters.

For a first time story writer, the author had been too ambitious to make a huge universe. If you've read a chinese novel before, you would know how it gets repetitive and boring when the main character gets to the "higher planes", well, this novel takes it to another level by having different planes every single arc.

You would think that the story is about the MC having to save... more>> his own world and the "other" world, but then it became a rinse and repeat of saving other "other worlds" which was fine at first but becomes a big mess later on, and as he goes through more and more worlds, the 2 main worlds he had to save barely gets any attention in later chapters.

The story is ridden with bunch of bad chinese novel clichés too, it was executed in a more entertaining way than other novels at first, but became just your usual cliché in later chapters. <<less

This novel is a tr*sh.

The MC have every opportunity in the world to grow strong but always set it aside to fight. But that is not the problem. The problem is the ridiculous plot armor the author gave him and the side characters questionable growth. Would you believe it? He is 5 ranks cultivation higher than his friends yet they managed to get stronger than him after a few hundred chapters but of course he actually have the resources and means to get stronger but he doesn't rank up. He... more>> fights opponents thousands of times stronger than him and won but what will he do next is extremely infuriating. He fights another strong enemy without him getting strong. He is always weaker than his opponents yet always winning. The author do it by schemes. But for me that's bullshit. If written well I can ignore it but if thats the whole plot... that is ridiculous.

He shoulders the fate of the whole universe with ant like strength but depends on others to win. Why not seclude and cultivate for a while?

The novel is bad, the author is bad. The characters are unreasonable. Damn this novel. The only thing good is the schemes. But that's not enough to be a good novel. Putting cultivation ranks but disregard there actual existence when fighting... wtf... why put it if you won't factor it in fighting.

Novel is good until he left for other worlds. What a disappointment. <<less

First of all: I love this novel, I think its truly a masterpiece. Our MC isn't OP and can't just smash everyone around him without breaking a sweat. He truly has to scheme his way out of situations, he is clever and uses almost all of his items and skills.

The harem romance is not the focus of the novel (as of yet), many girls don't appear for hundrets of chapter, but im fine with it. Im more interessted on the situations our MC gets thrown into and how he will... more>> resolve them with his schemes.

The world building is vast, some might say even to excessive, but I love it. From cultivation to Sci-Fi to a whole galaxy filled with unique lifeforms. Also about the few chapters/dead links. The translator moved WAO to webnovels aka. Qidian and removed all chapters from their original site. WN is hated by many for their huge pay wall per chapter. For free readers truly sad as u can only unlock 2 chapters per day for free. It is possible to read is elsewhere tho. <<less

Overrated, disorganized mess of a novel. I have no idea what kind of novel the author is trying to write. Here are some stuff that kind of blend together into a messy blob

    1. Starts off as a apocalypse real live game where the MC is in an apocalypse but also has game like stats. He can kill demons to get stronger and improve his stats with experience.
    2. Then it actually transitions to where he can switch between the apocalypse live game and the real world but the real world is in the past, so he becomes this peudo-Jesus where he knows knowledge that shouldn't exist and acts high and mighty about it.
    3. The real world is a hyper sci-fi version of earth with crazy tech and different political structure. So it gets really confusing when the author starts throwing a lot of sci-fi elements into the story like mechs, space travel, super AIs.
    4. Then the apocalypse real live game transforms randomly into a xianxia cultivation where the MC joins a sect. Then you go through the normal ups and downs of sect life you'd read so many times before in actual xianxia novels.
In the middle of all this, you have mentally challenged young masters and noble clans trying to kill the MC. Also have princesses of those clans falling in love with the MC for no good reason.

EDIT, c48*: OK, the repeated arrogance and face slapping in this is super obnoxious. People are just throwing themselves at MC for the slightest reason. -1 star.

Judging by the reviews I thought this would be amazing, but it's really the same old chinese style novel, complete with arrogant young masters, "toad lusting after swan meat" quotes and all the other stuff you expect, often in a really contrived manner. Only the skin covering it is a mishmash of multiple genres. We currently have:

    • high-tech sci-fi
    • fantasy with demons and whatnot
    • cultivation
    • a system
    • devastating beauties getting involved with the MC
    • nobles and their noble bullsh*t you see in all these novels
    • lots more stuff that's spoiler territory so I can't mention it
It really is a giant soup made out of a whole load of genres. There's enough novelty to keep you reading, but it's nothing amazing so far (chapter 23). It does, however, lay it on thick at times, so don't go expecting some genre busting work of art that will blow your mind; It's just a fun story. As for whether or not it turns to crap in 100-200 chapters like 99% of all the other stories? Can't say. But you should expect CN/LN tropes, so don't get disappointed when the same old, tired tropes rear their ugly heads. Just roll with the punches.

There is a lot of stuff wrong in this novel let's get that out of the way first. The plot is excessively fast so it feels like that there is a lack of cohesion between the chapters, the plot is absolutely riddled with plot holes. It has so much plot holes, that if you start minding them, you probably won't enjoy this novel much. If you aren't bugged by the inconsistencies in the plot, the story is very interesting, especially if you're reading this kind of genre (gaming system, AI... more>> and such) for the first time.

One of those novels where everyone and their dog aren't out for MC's blood. He has clear enemies as well as fair share of allies, which I appreciate very much. And not the usual weak, useless allies who do nothing. Some of his allies are equal to or even stronger than him.

In many haram novels, the girls don't feel have that much character and are just there to be a companion for the MC but this novel has girls who have their own character, their own stories, their own thoughts and struggles which makes it a lot more interesting. Obviously they need the MC to come and help them in the most desperate times but the fact that they have their own character is something to be admired.

One annoying thing is that, everywhere MC goes, there is a massive conspiracy/plot which only he can find clues to and solve them. Despite the 900 million worlds having countless peerless powerhouses, it all depends upon the MC to save the day. Of course this happens in other cultivation novel as well but this novel took it a bit too far. Stretched the concept of one man army too much.

Started off really unique and interesting but it started getting annoying (annoying, not boring mind you) since the author kept nerfing MC, gave him powerful abilities but can never use them because his cultivation base is never 'enough'. Stream of enemies that far far exceed MC. Yes it's interesting reading about a weak MC surmounting all odds to defeat beings way stronger than him but when everyone and their dog is insurmountably high levelled, it's annoying. Here the author took the concept of David vs Goliath too far.

Apart from that, this novel is very interesting. Nearly 1700 chapters read and I never felt like it is enough and maybe it's time to take a break from this novel or drop it altogether. Pretty rare occurrence for me, who gets bored easily. I couldn't even finish great novels like King of Gods and Martial World, just because I lost interest after chapters. It is easily one of my favourite cultivation novels without a doubt. Has some generic plot obviously, considering that it's a long novel but has a lot of new stuff doesn't come up often (at least for me, who hasn't explored the gaming cultivation genre too much) which keeps the novel refreshing. One thing I wish was that the MC be a bit more ruthless, but then again, that kindness of his really does help at times.

All in all, one of the best cultivation novels out there, for me. <<less

I gotta admit this is good, just not great.

The author clearly didn't have a competent or clever editor. The biggest issue I have is the author's desire to make time dilation a "thing" in the novel.

Spoiler

Roughly 1-hour real world seems to equate to a day or a few days in the cultivation world. So he enters it for a little over a day, and an hour passes. This makes sense actually and is in line with the theory of relativity.

What doesn't make sense is how when 24 hours pass in the real world 0 seconds pass in the cultivation world. In other words, time is effectively frozen when he leaves that world relative to reality. This could make fathomable sense if it was some sort of isolated single-player game of some kind only he can access. Yet he implies the cultivation world was filled with others from his world regularly travelling between worlds. Paradoxes unfold from this.

As an example. In one part of the cultivation world, a group of monsters leaves it to invade his world. In order to make them withdraw, he needs to win the war in the cultivation world to get them scared in the real world. But what if he just never entered the cultivation world causing time to freeze there? They would never get into our world to begin with.

The correct answer to this should be as follows: 24 hours in cultivation world should be 1 hour in real, 1 day in real should be 24 in cultivation.

[collapse]

Politics is another serious issue going on.

Spoiler

So they have a group of people called the 9 lords who are seemingly emperors of the entire government without going too deep into spoilers they very clearly defined a huge part of the government, their political power isn't perfectly explained as far as I know but it's large enough to amend something to the constitution which will give someone with enough merit a position of equal authority to the president... and of all the schools one prospective daughter and heiress happens to go to, it's the public one our low-middle class MC who barbecues meat on the side of a street for a living is also going to. Ok? So we're just going to accept that. Next, we have a President in control of the region MC lives in, and a King+pope in control of another region in space. There's another one that's been hinted at but not delved in too deeply.

They're all desperate for space technology such as mechs. The MC brings 20+ future formula to make a supermech. The big issue with mechs, however, is that conventional weaponry is completely useless against demons. So why even bother writing about mecha? They're useless here right? Why are they a part of the story? They're glorified transportation units.

[collapse]

The main character is making weird decisions. Instead of actively hunting and growing he's pointlessly involving himself in conflict with characters and villains. Here's an example of the MC being completely dumb and the author being unable to write a proper story arc.

Spoiler

So he gets massive connections as a scientist because of his future knowledge, the president adopts him as a son making him effectively protected from most political issues. On top of that, another major governing body which has arguably the largest influence in the world "the impartial goddess" is supporting him as a scientist she believes will greatly help humanity.

He comes to a problem where he needs to get a sample of a demon from space. The story describes most biological dead space demons as very common across warp space, very dangerous to fight, and pointless to do so. Somehow they're able to kill them with mech technology yet they weren't supposed to be able to. They begin researching the alien dna at a major lab, despite the material being very worthless.

But back to the problem, he needs that dna, which is held at a lab. Being a scientist with major governing bodies considering him the greatest scientist and hope of humanity, how does the MC get in? He doesn't. In fact he says "there's no chance I'd even be able to get close to a sample of that alien dna." The guy next to him agrees as if it's natural, and the impartial goddess doesn't bother to interrupt despite listening in.

So how does he get it? He goes to a casino which, despite not having 1% the political/economic support manages to get alien dna in it every week as a grand prize... The method of gambling allows you to attack people in a fighting pit and the MC gambles that the guy will survive with 1 billion of his own merit, which got him the position of being the same level of authority as the president.

After winning the bet in a cheap way without breaking rules the casino returns his bet. He says "I'm only interested in the grand prize, I don't even mind if you keep my merit!" He gets sent to the pit himself and survives in a bet. Then the owner of the casino comes by and tells him to go away, not giving him any merit, only vip cards.

Wow. The story gets wilder. The governing body finally steps in and puts the casino dude on trial and gives the casino to the MC. Finally he gets the alien dna.

I'm glad the problem was logically solved with great story-telling.

In spite of all this, I'm enjoying the ride, no matter how s*upid it occasionally gets. <<less

Somehow the description is different with the one I read. But, whatever. It summed up everything about this novel. Now, let me make a much longer description for you to really understand what's this novel about.

You have an MC, he was one of last survivors of apocalypse in his world which directed by an extraordinary game-like system. Against all odds, he powered up to the peak of his world, but sadly, it was still not enough for him to survive. His enemy were demons, much powerful demons. Their power were... more>> out of his world. No one could stop them from invading his world. Finally, he - along with other survivor- had no other choice but to sacrifice themselves to kill one of the most powerful demon. In the end, he died.

Suddenly, he got reincarnated just months before apocalypse began. Somehow, he could came to another world to level up. Somehow, he got one of the most powerful system to help him sped up his cultivation progress and helped him directing the plots based on his memory of the past.

But, after he directed plots differently from the past. MC realized that, this was not normal game-like apocalypse thing. It was not only his world that faced apocalypse and, his enemy was not as simple as demons.

Now, the + and - of this novel:

(+) Things:

Spoiler
    • The battles are superbly written. You can easily imagine whatever the author wrote in the battle scenes.
    • The plots are so unusual compared to other novels. It's all about apocalypse, but it's not that simple as other apocalypse novel.
    • Rather than powerful, you can feel how weak the MC is whenever he levels up, why? Because his enemies are always much powerful than him.
    • Then, how does MC beat his enemies? He uses tricks and calculations, sometimes system helping him calculate things.
    • There are more than cultivation things here. Magic, Mecha, Modern World, Ancient World, System, Wizard, all of them are included in here.
[collapse]

(-) Things:

Spoiler
    • I just don't like how Author always spent almost 1 - 2 chapters on harem-related things. (I know it was important as to show the readers harem member's feeling on MC and their struggled to accept reality that MC had more than 1 lover) Still, It's just waste of time for me. Often, I skipped this.
    • His companion even after reincarnated are so weak.
[collapse]

Finally, I really recommend this novel as it has different vibe than other chinese novel out there. A really underrated novel. Deserve more recognition. Should be top 10 in NU all-time ranking in terms of quality.

P.S: I'd rather call this novel "All-heaven Armageddon Online". Why? Because it sounds cool, isn't it? <<less

This novel is a hidden gem. The plot is solid and exciting. And the translator is doing a very great job at this. The translation is perfect.

Meh definitely very good start.

I'd even say very exceptional if it were not for the few flaws of being a novice writer. But writing it's sincere.

While reading It really gives me the sense of "this author writes about what he wants to see in a novel. So this next segment won't disappoint.

... more>> As a first choice would not recommend. But I'd you are looking for second choice kind of novel, the kind of choice that your don't want to invest 100% brain matter but just want to enjoy time reading.

this is one of my top picks. I'd say top 3. Others would be: inadvertently invincible, God level bodyguard and this one.

The defining characteristic of this novel is it's creativity and originality. It feels very adventury and MC can relate as a friend I'd have. Not brilliant really but really nice to have in friend circle. You know.

Sadly author bro lacks value in writing about dealing with bullies. That kind of scene just skip my friend. Maybe read the first two or three. Author bro needs kill some neurons. As by wuxia ritual.

You know I'd recommend just completely skip the being harassed by young masters and old farts part.

Until you find a paragraph about anything else related because that things rarely are bigger than the chapter. And can be completely ignored.

And more and more things are just going to be ignored in the future but I'd say it's worth it if you really just want to read an interesting novel in my opinion.

Also lots of contradictive lots of like sutile hand weaving of abstract things. I always see it as my 5yo grandson trying to explain science. Nice son. But no son.

I'd say the author is really bright but lacks experience writing but if you want something kind of original you know this I'd recommend to you.

I mean it's wuxia by it self and then author bro added tech and a bunch of things he likes. I appreciate.

But it's good definitely good. I mean if you are not a scrounge.

Obviously this novel was written by 10 yo spirit in 15 yo brain; not the best but unique writing. You mean to enjoy the ride. Not the best but yes enjoyable if you like the kind of explosive creativity. <<less

Story: The novel has an interesting plot and a bit different from traditional game elements/apocalypse novels. The MC is reincarnated back to just when the apocalypse was due to arrive. There is a supernatural power out in universe which causes other worlds to invade each other including earth (where MC story starts) in order to gain more natural resources and in order to resist this apocalypse, this 'supernatural power' has designed a 'Game', wherein the 'players' - resident of the attacked world are teleported for some fixed duration of times... more>> to other more powerful worlds in order to rapidly gain strength and thus gain power to resist the invading forces.

This is interesting becoz here, unlike other such novels, the earth is attacked and people gain strength in other worlds and come back to earth to fight invaders (unlike vice-versa).

REVIEWER RANTS:

  1. First 200 chaps are fun to read as MC gains power quickly and becomes op on the earth (home planet) and first 200 chaps introduce the story in depth with good pacing and slow character introduction.
  2. HOWEVER, all this goes to sh*it as after 300 chaps, author just unleashed power realms of the world and starting introducing large scale universe with 'millions' of worlds and apocalypse happening in each of them and them being only in the 'outer fringes' of the 'outer layers' of the space. Thats right, after 500 f*king chaps, we are still, ladies and gentleman, at fringes of the outer layers of the space. There is still outer layer, middle layer, inner layer and core layers of space where even more powerful worlds reside in. Are kidding me? Expanding world and power realms at chap 500 and that too at such ridiculous scale?? Then I went to Novel updates page for this novel and read that it has 1761 chaps till now and still going strong. I realised this is one of those 2000+ chaps novels with same thing happening over and over again and I quit at chap 515.
  3. After chap 350, as world building expands at rapid pace, there is hardly an interesting character introduced in the story and the characters are not provided any back stories neither is there any solid lore or rationale behind many of the world building choices.
Drawbacks:

  1. repetitive
  2. too fast paced with too much side 'quests' and no story telling of substance (author tries to make apocalypse some sort of a big mystery that all the worlds are trying to solve - but no actual substantive development till chap 500 in that regard)
  3. boring MC - there is no personality to the MC at all
  4. Boring side characters - (although the author tried at-least in first 300 chaps then gave completely later on to develop any interesting characters)
If you want MMO type apocalypse WN, sure go ahead, there are'nt many to go around in that genre but otherwise if u are really desperate then u can try skimming chapters (an ability I developed recently reading LNs LOL) <<less

This novel is a mess with tons of plot armor. +1 star for translator, but I won't be reading this anymore.

I gave this novel a try because it was ranked top 20s on NU. Novel started out decent; massive info dump, too much in fact, and the info was just everywhere. Mechas, AI system, chip system, demons vs mech vs otherworldly beings vs humans. Seems to me the author took from what was popular from other novels and added it into this. The MC also has too many love interests,... more>> both in the game and in real life. The MCs reason for liking them? because they were "kind" to him in his other life, and the females reason for liking the MC is... well because he's the MC. I wanted to stop reading after the first s*x scene MC had, it was pathetic. Author tried too hard and ended up failing. <<less

It's mediocre.

It has lots of fillers, in which there's illogical, out of character behaviors and reactions, and a princess illogically popping up anywhere the MC is, lots of pointless texts astrayed from the main plot, some nobles who are too adamant about picking up with and killing the MC, a forced love story, and the element of mecha in a cultivation novel is a turn off to me.

The main plot seems good, but these fillers above turns me off every time I try to enjoy the story, what a pity.

From what I have read so far, this seems to be extremely good and leave you wanting more. Instead of it being a game MC travels to another world that's real. He can travel to both his reality and the other world bringing skills and equipment into his "reality". I can't wait to see how this novel plays out.

For what I could read, it sounds interesting. Not the classical troupe of 'I lost everything and now I will stack resources and save all my close people'. The concept that the apocalypse begins in a game and spreads to reality sounds good, as he can't directly affect humanity and will be probably thought of as a NPC. As there are so little chapters there is no guarantee how it will end this novel, but for now I give four stars.

EDIT: So I was wrong. He can travel between reality... more>> and the "game".

The only turndown is that it seems to be a harem, but it's a personal issue and honestly I wouldnt be so surprised, after all like 99% of chinese novels are harem, and this seems good enough to gloss over the matter.

I keep the four stars, as he seems to become overpowered way too fast, but I have no other qualms (*cough*harem*cough*). Truthly hope he won't become an as*hole who keeps collecting women like pokemons. <<less

It seems most of these review are outdated. The longer you read this series the more you will understand the initial premise of the story. Nothing in this novel is done without reason, this means you have to pay keen attention to the smallest details hidden within the plot to have the best experience when reading this novel. I can promise this is one of the best novels I have ever read. The Main character has multiple love interests, the writing also has a comedic flow with a sense of... more>> seriousness added when "sh*ts about to go down." The main character is EXTREMELY SMART I cannot stress this enough he's not. In the later aspects of the novel he isn't feared because of his strength but because of his schemes and hax. He is extremely smart and haxi to the point that even if you're a hundred to a million times stronger than him he will find a way to beat you. <<less
