Childish, childish, childish and oh and oh and also childish.

Besides the smug*-like-ret*rded feeling of "i write more and more different special things" it is also the obnoxious "whatever the MC does makes the non MC feel ashamed".

Bad bad bad novel, meany.

... more>> Oh I see number 1, look is now 4, ok now the matter of course for the number 1 to go and become realize evolve upgrade to number 4...

just that boring and annoying is, at certain point I couldnt feel anything else but annoyance. I felt pissed off the more I read.

And so, the time where now everything that is talked about ALWAYS AND WILL ALWAYS HAVE "MC -something-" with a delusional sense of smokescreen of "more things are happenin around!".

No sense of having a main character, nowhere near feeling related or close to the supposed to be MC. Feels like im reading some korean novel where its author got bored real fast. And this is grave failure, for a novel with barely 915 chapters, having close to 10% and not feeling the story at all, yea that's trouble, and is f*cking failure, if anything, i'll leave an update if I manage to keep on reading, because interactions are getting more fags and soyboy out of nowhere, and then back to "i want to kill it all" ret*rd, too much chunni for me, too mush worthless shit.

Yea, I categorize this novel as brainless. <<less

Love the characters, the plot line and the action scene. Just kinda felt rushed toward the end. I was really hoping for to know more about the character after the war. But I still love it anyways. A definite 5 star from me ❤️. Thank you translator for the translation 💕🙌

I read this because of the high ratings. Truthfully, it doesn't deserve such praise. Overall decent, one of the better novels on this site. But, I have read better stories here which have worse ratings. Would recommend to people interested in kingdom-building, army warfare etc. Now, let's get on to the review:

Plot:

The plot is good but not tied up well. There were many backstories that never finished. The ending is rushed and even more abrupt than Warlock of Magus World. The author tried to build an overarching plot but was... more>> derailed somewhere in between and from then on, the story became a mess. In the end, this seems like a fragmented work. Had the author successfully tied the plot together, this book would truly deserve the ratings it has.

Spoiler

There was no suitable ending given to any character. The bird became a phoenix but was not talked about later. The antagonist lost but even his death was not emphasized and was brushed off. The backstory of MC's family was never completed, the shen device was not fully assembled. Even the love interest loses screen time after being freed. Pu and Wei backstory never finished, the MC never went to the yao art house to pay respects to his grand teacher. The yao facton was subdued in a single chapter. No idea what happened to the rest of the characters in the end. Heck, we don't even know what the MC does after the war. Does he unite the world or not? Not written. Basically, there were many plot devices but everything was just left off. I have never been more disappointed in an ending.

[collapse]

Lore:

This is where this book shines. The world is unique and the details have been very well thought. The concept of armies and experts and military strategies is very well portrayed. And in my opinion, it is much more interesting than a one-man show. Overall, in army warfare and kingdom building genre, this is top quality.

Characters:

The character interaction in this book is really good. The characters are lively, have their own back-stories, and realistic. The development of loyalty in the MC's subordinates is truly well portrayed. The antagonists also feel respectable. Every faction is shown very well and the interactions between characters and factions are interesting and entertaining.

Overall, the book is good but leaves one disappointed in the end. Had the potential here been realised, even if it wouldn't be a masterpiece, it would still be one of the top-quality books on this site. Seeing so much potential go to waste really fills one up with frustration. <<less

I want to give this novel 4, 5 star but it also deserve the 5 star.

Just like the title of this novel tell you, its about cultivation world. Story revolve around the world it self but that will start at mid chapter.

Its a story about MC that try to unify the world, thats it

RECOMMENDED? YES.

Good story and MC is unique. The ending though is a little incomplete and disappointing because there was no final conclusion to what happened to the world after the final battle.

It's a fresh air in the starting arc, with all the farming and mc's funny but leveled attitude.

But it digresses sharply at the last arc with total lack of consistency, and a whole lot of vomiting plot points. This should be a nominee for the most plot lines left hanging.

  1. Don't get me wrong it's a great read with epic chapters that will make one think for a long time, but that's exactly why the ruined ending has more impact on my review.

Loved it! I think this might be one of my favorite novels out of all I've red so far. I think the easygoing MC gives the story a fun twist when compared to other novels where MC is too dumbed down.

It was really good at start, and it somewhat declined at the end. But the fights and characters are written well, at least most of them. I don't understand why most of the authors fail to deliver a good climax.

Generally overrated novel by most. Plot development is on the slow slide, but there isn't much more depth to characters than in the average novel. What is different is people have more common sense and are not so belligerent killing each other at every corner.

Still, I was vey dissapointed to find the same cheat mechanics and young masters. The MC receives the old grandmaster grandpa in his head that provides him with extinct powerful techniques. But the MC still dismisses them and is basically forced to practice even if... more>> he experienced himself their op-ness.... The author is very uncertain if the MC is determined to get stronger or not, courageous or fearful for his little life, greedy for money or rejecting good deals from his sect members, fearful of his cheat or friends with him etc. <<less

Honestly, the ending made me laugh. It was slightly rushed, but to be fair, it covered what it needed to without unnecessary fillers.

When I first started to read this novel, I dropped it twice until I was able to read past chapter 60. At that time I felt that it was very slow and boring. especially with how very detailed it was about farming and the methods of the world. It later becomes much better honestly. I enjoyed the greedy character of Zuo Mo.

My comments would be first, around the... more>> second half of the novel there's too many characters to such an extent that we see many, many, many fights without the MC. A bulk of it was boring. Second, there were still a few questions left unanswered. For example, MC's past is still shrouded in mystery. There's supposed to be a romance aspect, but it just jumped from 0... 10%... to 100% without any character growth.

Overall, the story is still better than a lot of novels out there. The author didn't drag the story on for too long. The down side would be around chapter 800, the author started to somewhat rush to finish it. <<less

It's a great novel, there some flaws but all in all it's a good one, you can divide it on 3 phases; the sect, the rogue, the empire.

The sect opens the MC and all the world around him, it's a good opening that ends with the war escape.

The rogue is where MC get the most luck opportunities, gather allies, find enemies and escapes again, also very good.

The empire, now here is the trouble since this is the biggest part, the MC need to keep his people safe, find a place,... more>> then resources and money, misteries are solved (or half of it) side characters dissapear and some reappear only at the end (just a few, very few), the war, the strugle to survive, and the end. But there so much that is ignored or not said at the end, well you can give a look on the 1 star reviews, there is much who got forgot or half revealed but the end is the end.
Also I know this sound like a spolier but it's not: THERE ARE 2 MC's ON THIS NOVEL! If you read it like this you will understand why the second MC is the one who end the war and get so much light on the novel.

Good read! <<less

The story is good and full of excitement. But it is because of too much thrill that would cause dissatisfaction.

Spoiler

The plot makes you excited but it turns out to be a cheap tricks. It's like when you saw a gold coin only to find it fake. No value.

I have high hopes that the plan was grand when you consider the MC's hardwork preparing such a lot of set ups, creating traps and all but ended up cheap.

The first half of the story was good but later part was lame especially great peace city arc. When you thought the MC was powerful after levelup but suddenly can't use his powers. Excitement for nothing -_-

One of the best Cultivation novel I have ever read. Highly recommended to those who are tired of the usual trope of "inheriting a future memory" or "super smart ass ghost become your lovey dovey teacher" that give you everthing you need. That said the story is not without flawed but compare to the massive pile of terrible cultivation novel, this one manage to held my attention to the very end while many of the other just make me bored out at around chapter 300+

Pros:

    • Interesting MC, most side character have varied personalities with interesting backstory
    • Deep interweaving schemes and plots that span out multiple story arcs
    • Good comedy sprinkled through out
    • Strong MC but not too OP, victory while cheesy with last minute power up feel earned and not ass-pulled like many other cultivation novel
    • The "bad guy" have sufficient motivation to act that way. While "bad for the sake of bad" do exist, they aren't many to the point of comedy. Most villain have good reason to act that way and there aren't any that make you roll your eye going "this is getting ridiculous
Cons:

    • Too many side characters making some receive less attention than others and as the story go by, some character you like might not appear at all later on. While most of them do have some conclusion, many just end with 1 liner which might feel frustrated to read.
    • Lack of good romance. While I don't expect romance to be in a cultivation novel, some good few chapter with fluff would go along way to at least build up something between MC and the suppose to be heroin. One example from me would be "Way of Choices" - a cultivation novel with romance while going no where, would at least make you feel nice while reading
Some forgotten side character (obviously some ending spoiler but can also make you have less expectation for your favorite side characters)

Spoiler
    • Pu Yao: Wish this guy got more screen time later on. Love his character tropes but sadly he become more and more irrelevant as the story progress and got zero mention in the last few chapters. Even his suppose plot line gone no where
    • Wei: Same with Pu
    • Luo Li: Zero mention in the ending
    • Literately everyone on Mo Cloud Sea

Ending Spoiler/Rant
Spoiler

I was kinda depressing while start to read the last chapter you know then it hit me, NOTHING. I even chuckled at the "The End" cause how lack luster the whole damn thing is. It is basically Zou Mo and Wei Sheng going "Come to my wedding", "I want good wine" - The End. Well at least better than trying to come up with some random ass story for every side character but at least some epilogue for how they turn up cause this is just depressing. Still a good read but I lost my motivation to reread the novel due to the ending.

I mean when you first start out its slow as heck, but the character development is good no generic villain tropes. It does start to fall apart during the end, there are loose ends plot holes that are ignored, but I would say its a good read and well written due to how the general world is developed and not just made into a heterogeneous mix where everyone is pretty much a the same 'race' in conduct and thought. Give it a shot you might not like it, but you... more>> might not abhor it. <<less

I recommend it until around chapter 300 or 400, to be more specific about when you should stop reading i'd say around 520 since it's a reasonably good arc to end it on, after that the author stops caring and just writes whatever, i've only read up to 600 in hope the story would get better and out of curiosity about the characters and world i've grown to care about. After 400 it gets worse and worse and i'd say it's around 1 or 2 stars at c600.

The story starts... more>> off very well, MC is a farmer, doesn't care much about swords and power. The author seems to rub MC's powerlessness on your face too much when a certain character appears, but it's only a small problem and the relationship changes with time. A bigger problem is how this author doesn't know how to write multiple perspectives and combat.

Multiple perspectives in this novel start coming up more when there's a large number of characters important to the story, and it's so badly done it's impressive, even things that could be exciting are made boring. And worst of all: the author seems to always end "scenes" on a cliffhanger, that makes you not care about the other perspective he's starting to talk about and skip ahead to see what happens after the cliffhanger.

Now combat. Most cultivation novels i've read have badly written combat and, ironically, give a lot of focus to combat at the same time. I think it's because describing skills and the reactions of the peanut gallery is a very easy way to increase word count, but it might also be because the authors have read so much cultivation novels they just think this is how it's supposed to be. *hint hint: if you have to write 5 paragraphs describing the attack of a irrelevant character, you're probably doing it wrong*

About the cultivation: it's mostly passable, but it bothers me a lot how the author builds things up lots and lots, but when MC actually uses it, it's pretty much always underwhelming. I feel this is because the author has the inability to allow the MC to NOT be the underdog. Example:
Spoiler

MC sets up a death trap that can kill a "level 3" enemy with the snap of his fingers, yet, when a large amount of level 3s show up, the death trap suddenly seems much weaker than before for no reason

[collapse]

Summing it up: while this novel has many of the same issues of other shallow cultivation novels, it's qualities make up for that... at the begining at least hahaha.
Also, crying girl = best girl, fight me irl. <<less

I binged read this novel again and I decided to write a review.
Spoiler

First of all, this novel is not truly focused on the cultivation. The author used it to introduce new plot or at least get the plot moving. The novel still has the plots where enemies with strong cultivation tried to kill the MC, etc... but the flow is more organic and less repetitive. If you look for more positive reviews, just read a couple of 4-5 star review; then you should get a general ideas about this novel.

Let's talk about the bad things about this novel:

  1. I read this novel the second time and I had to admit the first 40-50 chapters is so hard to read. The translator decided to keep the Chinese pronouns such as Shidong, Shimei, Xiaodong, etc... And it is really disrupted the reading flow. For name and location, it is the correct choice to keep the Chinese name. However, I believe the translator should have used the proper pronouns like Elder Brother, Elder Sister, Big Boss, etc... But that is just my pet peeves.
  2. The author has a habit of switching views rapidly. It is a good idea to make the novel feels like repetitive, but he did it way too often and sometimes it served no purpose other than word-count.
  3. The ending is too anticlimactic. 914 chapters to build up the final battle and the author ended it in a single chapter. That is right, a single chapter. It feels really unsatisfactory. With the ongoing plot, the author could have easily written another 100-200 chapters to develop a better ending. I guessed he just woke up one day and said F**k it, this is the end. That also makes sense because the last 200 chapters, he repeated the same info over and over again. Yes, Fang Xian! Bie Han really suffered hardship when he was captive but you don't have to remind me his hardship every 5 chapters.

Overall, I think this novel is a fun read. You should give a try.

If you like Xianxia or Xuanhuan, then this is one of the best translated novels out there. It has a unique pace and somehow incorporates enough of the side characters plot. The ending feels a bit rushed, but this novel definitely tug at my heart when it ended. It's got bits of humor, adventure, character development, and tons of action. Good story for underdogs.

The story.. Fell apart. It added so many things that at some point I just couldn't understand what made cultivators strong or weak. There is always some sort of enemy that only has one purpose, to elevate the MC party to the next level. The power ups become so numerous that I can hardly keep track of what was strong or what isn't anymore. The pets that seemed to be holding some special purpose just simply disappeared while the one that was closest to the MC, the prideful bird turned... more>> from a loyal and friendly companion to the bit*h next door. Talismans that were so awesome that the MC would salivate in one chapter would suddenly become scrap in the next one. Cultivation techniques that were the creme of the crop bestowed unto him by the most dangerous and strongest being from the past war turned into mediocre level once some other sort of inheritances were given. And my last complain, the so called tower of suppression, if that was the name, where Pu and many other yao and mo were kept because they couldn't be destroyed losses it's sense once you find out just how strong are other cultivators from the big clans. The line that connects the weak from the strong looks like it was drawn by an autistic child. There is some sort of infinite circle that makes the weak strong the strong weak again and then strong again and so on. And all of this because of the huge number of coincidences.

I loved this story, it was one of the best for it's first 400 chapters. Then too many things were added and it turned into some stew served in the last layer of hell. Enjoy it with a spoon if it doesn't melt. Mine melted so I will just give it 2 stars, as I can't even remotely bring myself to continue reading from here. <<less
