Very well written plot in completely realistic settings. The book is written in style of QT, with 4 crime mystery segments but they are well connected in one world (no transmigration)

MC and ML are actors. MC has heart desease and is connected to a system which gives out tasks, completion of which will increase MC's years of life.

In each segment MC has to solve a mystery behind crime in entrtainment industry and punish the wrong doers.

ML gets involved in each case and helps MC. Their relationship progresses naturally from... more>> rivals to lovers. Their interactions with MC's agent is cute and funny.

The topics are heavy and makes you feel chocked since the writting is completely realistic. You can see this sh*t happening in reality.

Also, at the end even though the culprit is punished, life which is lost is still lost and the one who is ruined is still ruined (except arc 3). This kind of realisation makes the heart heavy, but interaction of MC with people close to him lightens the burden.

Hilarious, and thrilling as well. The plot was supposed to be very heavy as it involved crimes, but was lightened up because of how MC interacted with other people.

I personally like his laziness lol.

ML was also great. He started off as MC’s rival but ended up helping MC a lot through several cases.

took me days to finally gathered my thoughts on this novel and I could say, if you interested in reading showbiz but also want the spice up of darker (!!!!) side in this (cruel) industry, then please this novel. you wont regret it.

i frecking love this novel, but I have love and hate with every single arcs (four arcs in total) in this novel. but nothing pissed me of when reading the third arc and the fourth arc. (the second arc was fudging depressing to read. I... more>> felt suffocated. sighs.)

it poked plagiarism issue AGAIN (like YMABLTY) I just h8 it so much because this kind of thing keeps happening irl too. you STEAL something from people, make it like this "thing" is yours. get all the profits/deals from it. get achievements, but dont you ever think all the blood, sweat and fu cking tears those real creator went through to create those thing you f*cking stole? :D

and the fourth arc. this arc, takes the cake for almost made want to k word the REAL culprit. je sus fuc king christ. he's disgusting, mentally unstable. just please rot in jail and never see the light, ever, again. [ I cut off my rant because am afraid my temper will flare off like fire. ]

a slow burn story that fell into "burn me into ashes, babe." category, aka, CHEFS KISS. and please NEVER doubt Shou Si's (MC) love to Gu Yanzhou (ML) just because his "appearance." NEVER.

This book was a really good read.
The pacing is really good, it’s exciting, and it’s good (my language skills are getting worse so I don’t know how to explain). To be honest, there are some minor things I feel aren’t written well or lack some explanation and details (the MC’ heart disease, their feelings for each other, how the system works) but the novel really made me enjoy reading it despite these things, so I do think it deserves 5 stars.
Please give this novel a chance if you have time. Sorry for the bad English and have a nice day.

Maybe it because I MTL'ed it, so I kinda feel bored, took a while to finish it, but the story is okay. The MC and ML are good. It just I don't know, I really can't fit in much.

The author likes to kill the character directly before leading the MC to solve the cases, which I hate very much, especially the last one concerning kids. Seriously it hurts my heart. The most favourite chapter for me, if I'm not mistaken it is chapter 130? The one Shao Si cried, worried... more>> and scared about ML. Only that one make me feel "ah the loves is real".

Overall it is a good read when you are too bored. <<less

i rarely ever write reviews (this is a first actually), but I just Had to leave one here because of how much I really enjoyed reading this novel.

mgh really never fails to astound me, and I read this novel after I read fake slackers (which I heard came after this one) bcs of a friend’s recommendation, so I had Some Expectations. The chronology doesn’t really matter, both can be read as standalones, but moving back, i’m really glad I picked this up.

truthfully I agree with the first review here -... more>> the way the story was weaved really does pick you up. It’s not very hard to follow if you’re used to the showbiz system gigs, the genres that seemed to be mashed in together ended up working really well, and the characters are one of those who you’d be talking about for a long time. Characterization is consistent and may! I! Just! Talk abt my love for the main cp! It’ll end up taking too much space but you’ll definitely love them!!!

there’s nothing that will shock you too much (in my opinion?) and each moment builds up just right to the next, so don’t worry too much!! It’s really a great novel and i’m so so so glad someone’s picked it up for translation ㅠㅠ <<less

really a good novel!!! Ahhhh!!! Usually when couples get together after some slow burn in a novel, it gets boring and dull. But seriously this author is too good at writing dog food! Too good at writing crime and weaving it with the entertainment industry! Too good at writing a multidimensional relationship! I appreciate the fact that its a crime/showbiz novel, because it means that the drama we do get isnt just the same "netizen reversal of opinions face slapping" drama that we've all seen a thousand times before.

although there... more>> isn't any grand reveal of a huge conspiracy theory behind the dark side of the entertainment industry, and the system doesn't really have a huge role in the story, the author takes care of loose ends and treats each character well. Honestly, the fact that the story stayed true to its roots and didnt let delusions of a grandiose plot take over is a blessing unto itself. Each arc seemed pretty realistic; the author balances the blossoming romance and the pace of each crime arc well. I love the main couple so much. There aren't any side couples. I wish it was longer! But I have to appreciate the author for ending it decisively. The author of fake slackers does not disappoint. <<less

I'm unsure how to rate the novel, maybe like a 3stars? I read it via MTL (which was kinda hard to read) and I have a feeling I may have chosen the wrong source for the raws. I'll try to reread with the real translations and that might change my rating.

If the raws were complete, then a lot of the chapters felt so cut off, as if I'm missing a couple of paragraphs, but at the same time it connected to the next chapter coherently? Idk, it made me feel... more>> empty

And all the cases/mysteries were equally empty. I felt that the resolutions were so anti-climactic--especially the last case which started very heavy. It was just like: oh hey, this guy was the culprit and here's a quick rundown of their backstory. Ta-dah!

But I loved the main characters (and their relationship) and their agents. Their personalities were refreshing compared to the usual 'entertainment industry' novels and it was kind of nice that the author only glossed over some the films that they do. But even the family/character background felt like it dropped off? Like, what happened the MC's parents? One moment they're super concerned about him and then they never showup again. What happened with his heart problems? Did they just go away? What happened to his limited life span? Does he have to just keep solving cases to extend his life a couple more years?

Maybe this was all answered and I just had major translation issues. Otherwise, I loved the concept, characters, and pacing. Hate the way it was delivered. <<less

I really enjoyed reading the novel at first but the last case kind of left a bad taste in my mouth. For me, the crime for the last case was very brutal but the story telling on how it was handled and the reaction by the public didn't match the severity of the situation.
