An extraordinarily excellent read despite being a short story.

It is a happy ending (HE), so please do not be afraid. There is some angst before the ending, but it wasn't exaggerated and very well done.

This is also a rare case in C-novels where the FL starts off older (29) and stays single all her life (implied that she is asexual). Yet it is a positive message and she still lives a very happy and fulfilled life. Her aunt, an older woman who also never married, is also written positively.

I cried my eyes out when I came near the last chapters. As a cowardly person with a deep fear of losing my loved ones to death, I really resonated with this story. Also, we have a dog in our family and we got him when he is already quite old. He's become very dear to me as much as my other loved ones, so the thought of when the time to part has come fills my heart with heaviness.

Getting into the car, leaving the warm yellow light behind, she couldn't help but cry sitting in the front seat, her fiance is a considerate man, holding on to her hand not saying anything at all.

She doesn't regret it, no matter what she doesn't regret it.

A relationship isn't only valuable because it produced a positive result.

She understood this, and was able to survive through, walking on determined.

Sometimes I can't help but wonder, what if the ML didn't get his body back and the story ended with the FL continuing her life alone. To have lived a life of sweetness and content with your loved one, however short it may be, can it still be considered a happy ending?

I think that would have been a sad but realistic ending, although it can still be considered a happy one if you have made the most of the time you spent together with that loved one. When they leave you for the other side, you will eventually find the strength to accept the inevitable and continue without them. Their physical body might have perished, but they'll continue to live on in your memories. They might leave you writhing in pain and heartbreak, but that is the proof that you love and cherish them.

It really was a nice slice of life road, which although weird with being as a cat, I liked the author's writing which encrypted the feeling of being a family where the cat loves the FL and the FL later loving the ML cat as a family member and as a little cat-------friend, plus accompanying the FL = not being lonely :D.

Happy that Hai Ruo rejected Xu Jing that girl, otherwise I would have dropped the novel, phew.

This is a must read! It was so very sweet.

So ML was in a car crash and died. Then he swapped bodies with a cat and that cat was taken care of by our FL.

So when they started living together there were some awkward moments *snicker snicker and also many sweet moments as well

So there were some love rivals for our ML ... more>>

Cute story? Wth this is totally angst. Unless theres a twist midway or at the end, this is angst for sure.

Basically, just think of this as Strange Life of a Cat but the cat's in love with his owner. Obviously, that won't work out, so he has to deal with the angst that comes with a girl that's trying to romance the FL and him not being able to do anything about it.

This is the first time I've made a review. What can I say that this story is a masterpiece. I'm crying for 4 hours nonstop because how bittersweet the story is. Also somehow, it's soothing and at the same time, leaving me very melancholic. Reminds me that we can fall in love at any age. Since we are keep getting old day by day and maybe getting restless, this gentle story can help a lot to ease your worries.

I would fullheartedly give this story 100/10. Despite the nonsense about cat... more>> and lives, I got the message clearly. Don't be afraid of aging and dying, it's what makes a life more beautiful and more precious. Keep cherish your life right now. I hope whoever read this may found their loved ones that can stay with them until their hair turn grey.

Please try on this story. If you hate those fantasies stories, then just get the message that the author want to convey. I wish you all happiness. <<less

A unique perspective of love.

This short novel is a poignant story about a cat who was once a person. He came from a bleak background from his childhood until his sudden death. He finds himself alive, living as a cat adopted by one of the loveliest soul he ever met. With her, he finds light in his years of darkness. He get to experience love, comfort, and home. Even in the limited lifespan of a cat.

The thing about this story that makes me so emotional is that it embraces sexuality.... more>> The female lead is pursued by a woman. The female lead talks about "maybe" being asexual. It is open and welcoming. Despite the main leads relationship between man and woman, it approaches the topic of LGBTQ+ relationship the same way.

While this story is definitely a happy ending, it surely is quite sad in some of its chapters. If you love cats, you would surely cry your eyes out because I did. ;&Lt;

4-stars for the plot itself because of the weird ending that left a lot of loopholes.

But the last chapter though - it got me bawling. As someone who has lost a loved one to death, that was probably the most realistic emotional journey. And I have a senior dog and cat, so I just went to hug them while I cried like a baby. 5 stars for the feelings.

I loved this story so much and I can't wait to know what would happen so I MTLed it. Thankfully, the mtl is not hard to understand and there are only 13 chapters. It's short but very impactful. I would still read the translated versions since I want to feel these emotions again. I wish it had a longer version.

I loved their interactions a lot. If this had a movie, I would definitely watch it. Huhu

This has a happy ending. ML (cat) died after 13 years due to cancer but was reincarnated (? Not quite sure about this since some details may be lost due to MTL or it wasn't really explained) to his own body. I'm not sure though whether ML's body was the same as when he was carcrashed or he got a new body. Not really sure about their ages. Whichever the case, I'm extremely glad that they were able to be together after such a long time.

It's a really nice short read, made me cry and laugh in some parts. Totally recommended!

Although the ending might be too good, I got no complaints since I love happy endings lol. This also made me really scared to have pets because in the end, there is always goodbye waiting.

If you like the cat protagonist, I recommend 'Strange Life of a Cat'. And though I haven't read this, but maybe 'Why Harem Intrigue When You Can Just Raise a Dog Instead' would have somewhat similar premise.

Beautifully written and translated, heartfelt, sweet short story. Although it has a happy ending, it still one of the few stories that made me cry (usually I am not the type of person who cry). Characters have depths and well portrayed, good world building and there isn't unnecessary drawn out dramas and plots like other novels. It was written simply and perfectly.

*siiiiiiiigghhhh* This was written so beautifully that I honestly didn't want it to end. The translations are excellent and the story itself is sweet and heart-warming. The only drawback for me is that it was just too short....... but still, this novel is superb!! I 100% definitely recommend you to read this. I promise you won't regret :)

This is definitely a gem!

It's short but it still made me cry. My gosh, the feelings in here are so... wow

I love both of the main characters interaction. They are so cute!!

Even though he was a cat, he was still seen as MC's knight in shining armor and her proxy boyfriend.

Definitely a must read!

WORTH IT!

You definitely won't regret spending time on this. It's a satisfying read! It's just a short read so you'll finish it soon. Translation is also well done.

I don't really leave reviews much, after many novels this might only be the 3rd or 4th time. I felt I should leave one for this novel to encourage people to not skip this!

... more>> The leads are really a wonderful pair. Both ML and FL are admirable and likable. FL is kind yet firm and a considerate and responsible person.

There's a real tearjerker chapter, so sad but well done.

The time turning back and them just suddenly getting together? It's so weird that just a couple paragraphs ago Hai Ruo was grieving her pet—her companion—and then she's suddenly dating him? Huh?

I'll be honest, I really had to power through the beginning chapters. The high rating was appealing so although this isn't a story I'd typically go for, I read until the end. For me, there are two ways to rate a book: rationally and emotionally. Sometimes I'd analyze the plot, the characters, and express my enjoyment. But when I read chapter 13, it felt like all of the previous chapters coagulated into a very, very memorable and heartbreaking scene. My thinking for the 5 star rating is simple. For all... more>> the tears I shed over chapter 13, I consider it a job well done by the author.

I recommend at least reading once for the experience. It's nothing ground-breaking but the story really taps into your empathy. <<less

Short, sweet, and straight forward story. The mellow feel is good for a relaxing, chill read.

FL raises cat MC for 13 years. FL never dated and felt having her cat was enough. After cat MC died, he went back to the day he died as a human and escaped death. He found FL and they got together. Both of them remembered the past life when MC was a cat.
