I read this a while ago but the set up is much better than the later half to be quite honest. FL is kind of your stereotypical cold, lofty CEO but indulgent when it comes to MC. MC's a little bit of a play girl in the beginning but she falls for FL really quickly and diligently tries to gain FL's attention. For better or worse it's not as dog blood as the summary makes it out to be, the "love triangle" is more just FL and MC getting together... more>> and the husband isn't much of a obstacle as you might think. In fact, MC pretty much never sleeps with the husband during the story, once MC and FL meet for the first time MC states she isn't willing to sleep with him again.

if you're curious about the husband problem:
Spoiler

the FL divorces the husband pretty quickly after falling for MC and removes him from the story not very long afterwards.

[collapse]

The problem is the story is incredibly disorganized. MC and her best friend open up a cafe only for literally 3 chapters to pass and her best friend leaves to become a doctor??? What's even the point of the whole "come join me" parts then?! The ending was also a disappointment because it gets a little deus ex machina with characters coming out of no where and then a time skip happens.

Overall the story was really average, a solid ok I guess. It wasn't entirely what I was looking for (i wanted a story with "MC sleeps with both, FL and husband have increasing tension between each other".) but I still say give it a shot, it's pretty good in the beginning at least. <<less

I was pleasantly surprised after knowing this novel's plot. At leas for me seems unusual. Smut was good, some drama, I don't like drama but it was ok.

The side couples were also good.

For a moment I felt bad for her husband but later he showed his true bastard self. That other man, the weak one, was cute : (

This is a quick read but slow burn. Its nice but I got bored and stopped halfway. No smut until around ch 61 and it was well done. I havent found much yuri I like but this is good. It's has mature characters which I do like and I think is a major selling point for this novel.

The beginning of the story was so, so promising and it's unfortunate how the the story just declined somewhere in the middle. Honestly with the author's notes in between chapters, it seemed that they had lost interest to continue which would explain the situation. Longer review, with possible spoilers ahead.

The story started with Zuo Qinghuan and Li Xin's interactions and I thought it was clever for the author to prop these 2 characters who are both best friends and mistresses - one to a man, one to a woman and... more>> showed their parallels and how their fate would eventually differ from each other. It's smart, and in the beginning that was delivered excellently but like I mentioned in the beginning, it went downhill somewhere in the middle to the point I had to skip Li Xin's arc at times.

The main couple's journey was interesting. Their dynamic was destined to be explosive from the start, considering they're sharing a man. I like how they grew from relative stranger to reluctant friends (on Qin Wanshu's side) to eventual lovers. Their relationship growth was gradual and tender and I love how protective Qin Wanshu can be of Zuo Qinghuan.

Zuo Qinghuan's tragic backstory was expected but really underutilized in the story. Some characters of her past could've played a stronger role in her current one but the author didn't do really well integrating them and establishing their relationship with Zuo Qinghuan and their importance.

On Qin Wanshu's side... she really has terrible people around her. The author tries to gloss over their actions as the act of love and care for her but they all train and put her on pedestal and seem determined to punish her or Zuo Qinghuan when they realized Qin Wanshu was stepping out from the established role they had for her. Again, author introduced Qin Wanshu's extended family and for a second we thought they were going to appear again either to hinder or help her but nah lol. Her best friend and her little brother acted so sh*tty to her girlfriend
Spoiler

after Zuo Qinghuan literally risked her life and almost died for Qin Wanshu. They blamed her instead of the terrible dude who was a horrible excuse of a human being.

[collapse]
The only decent person probably would be her mother who prioritised her happiness despite not understanding her daughter's preference for another woman. Oh even her older brother was disappointing. I can't remember what he did but he's the best after their mom so there's that I suppose. Don't even wanna get into the grandfather here.

Major spoiler to be marked below, basically a rant and you can feel free to disagree but:

Spoiler

The three year condition to Japan was such bs. While I understand the need for Zuo Qinghuan to grow, I thought it would be through her freaking coffee shop as the starting point. Maybe she'd sell the luxury apartment Han Shibin got her to get more capital (hey author, remember all these things you set up?) So despite Zuo Qinghuan's insecurities and apparently abandonment issue, on top of her mommy issues that keep being repeated in the story for some reasons and despite Qin Wanshu's objection, she still went ahead to Japan? They didn't even know if that old man would keep his words? His whole intention wasn't good in the first place so why hurt the both of you just to please him? Qin Wanshu's parents were coming around and the both of them could've made a plan together to help Zuo Qinghuan grow but noooo just go Japan.

Another bs reasoning was that she wanted to grow more than Qin Wanshu so she had to go find someone even better. Despite Qin Wanshu being described as goddess on Earth and put on the pedestal by literally everyone she knew but okay. Then when she came back..."Oh Qin Wanshu grew during the time you were gone so she'll always be better and you'll never stand beside her as equal sorry x"

What. Was. The. Point. If the point was just to make Zuo Qinghuan confident enough, she could've done that in China. There was no need for 3 years torture for the both of them. God.

Also this reminds me of the song Grow As We Go by Ben Platt in which the narrator basically requests for their lover to stay and grow alongside with them together rather than being apart. Great song, check it out.

[collapse]

Despite everything I want to love Zuo Qinghuan and Qin Wanshu very much because their love for each other is tender, passionate and careful. I wish the author had executed it better.

Li Xin's arc with her partner
Spoiler

literally started with a r*pe by Li Xin.

[collapse]
Once I found that out, I had completely lost interest in their story, especially considering the unreasonable condition set by Li Xin. I'd have respected her more if she rescinded her condition after everything was said and done but she had no conscience so that didn't happen. I'm not sure if there's character growth or any redemption going on in her arc because I quit somewhere in the middle but it felt like the author was enabling some really horrible things so I can't condone this ship.

Might be ironic since the main premise of the story is about cheating partner. While it's unacceptable in general I give some grace to those who are stuck in comphet (compulsory heteronormative) relationships. But the things Li Xin did were just unacceptable.

I don't even want to start on Shi (?) Yunyang's arc. She's not a good person or a good friend and perhaps she's redeemed in her arc but I just can't care enough after the terrible way she treats her supposed best friend and her best friend's partner. <<less

It had a nice start and an interesting premise but the plot gets weird 1/3 of the way into the story. I lost interest in the story halfway through since it got convoluted. Like one of the other reviewers here said, the set up was better than the later half. It could have totally been better but it wasn't, so I'm giving it a generous 4 stars just for the premise.
