Imagine being forced to live, after death, as incorporeal bodies trapped in a vast space of nothingness for thousands of years, with nothing to do but exchanging past memories with other cohabitants (read: weirdos). Everybody wanted out, but there was no way to leave the Void…

Until one day, a young man was finally summoned, as a powerful but reluctant mentor, by a bubbly and motivated but completely naive young girl. Baiyi, finally out of the Void, was the only one who could save all of the other 32 souls from their prison and his summoner might just be The Key to their freedom.

However, Baiyi had to use the techniques and abilities the other souls had taught him throughout the years, and together with his own extensive knowledge of anime and game tropes from his shady and dangerous past as an otaku, to face the biggest challenge of them all: training the clumsy young girl he was forced to partner up with… into a competent sorcerer!

This is a story of heroic adventures, cunning strategies and romantic tales. How will our MC thrive in a world completely strange to him? Where will his ambitions and abilities take him in the palace?

Update ch. 141

[email protected] this ecchi waifu Bull $h1t. There was about 15 chapters of good action when I updated last time, so I didn't really mention it, but the ecchi waifu crap is GROSSLY overused. When action scenes aren't happening, 1/2 of each chapter is focused on describing about the female characters in some SOFTEST-core provocative situation. It's like reading a tween's journal entry about the one time they saw a page from a lingerie catalogue. Adding onto the problem with jokes bogging down the story, and 2/3rds of every... more>> chapter is just wasted ink (excluding the rare action chapter where only 10% of a chapter is wasted.)

If the author skipped 90% of the repetitive ecchi BS and halved the number of jokes, this story would be less than half as long and twice as good. It's honestly bogging down the story to the point where I'm going to stop reading altogether. There's a good story buried under all the SOFTEST-core ecchi crap, maybe even a great story, but the overuse of ecchi scenes and jokes is LITERALLY RUINING THIS NOVEL.

Update ch. 124

Stuff's been happening since ch. 60, but nothing really outstanding. They've left the school around ch 110, but it's temporary, and the cheap harem element and sexualization of every female character continue to cling to this novel. If a female character's of note is introduced, you can be sure the first thing the author will describe is how big her ti*s are.

There's some amusing humor, but nothing exceptional, and it's mostly the type of humor that sidetracks the plot rather than contributing. Honestly, the humorous moments are thrown around so much that it's probably doubled the story's length. The story and character development are largely neglected in favor of jokes and humor, but the humor is used too often, and is largely mediocre, thus losing most of its impact. The overuse of humor has choked the life out of this story.

I'm going to keep reading simply because the translator posts a chapter every day. It's not great, but I don't mind reading it for 10 minutes a day. However, I doubt many people will enjoy binge reading it.

Review at ch. 47 below

This novel is just wasted potential. It had some unique elements, but is currently in the process of devolving into a typical "OP MC School Harem" novel.

However, the real problem is the MC's objective. The writer gave the MC a long term goal, but no short term goals except to make money in preparation for their long term goal. Without short term goals, there is no payoff, and the novel's narrative feels like a flat line as a result.

I'm at c47 and nothing of note has happened since c1... <<less

I was expecting a more serious novel, this is a lot like the japanese novels (op main character who hides his strength, loli's, bunch of old op perverts, the use of the word moe) Oh well it's not a bad novel, at least at chapter 12 it seems promising.

I'm not sure why but I like it.

Spending power stone to this novel

But as I reach chapter 16 I feel like I am loosing interest.

Maybe the serious plot or the meat of the soup is not yet serve, the progress of the story feels bland. The conversation of the voidwalkers are now repetitive.

... more>> I feel like I am reading an O.P japanese novel, rather than a refreshing western like Chinese novel.

Mia is a drag, hate this kind of meak character, hope they improve her or just turn her to a lich or puppet instead.

M.C, Is he a chinese or a japanese protagonist? They keep interjecting manga and anime in the story. He is too soft or naive and kind hearted, not like your usual CN protagonist.

I hope in the near future they explain how come the voidwalkers got stock in their.

Hope they improve the story and progress the plot now because it is becoming a tasteless meal right now. <<less

1 out of 5.

This story straight up lies to you: this isn't from the point of view of a mentor, this is similar to sao (sword arts online).

I expected discussions on training, very little of that in early chapters.

... more>> I expected most of the action scenes to be from the heroine stand point, none are.

Everything revolves around the author's ego with the characters: nothing seems to cause meaningful changes to the personalities of the main characters.

An excellent example os, during the tournament arc. Everything happens from the mentor's prospective; how am I suppose to be invested in the heroine's trials when the mentor gushes all over her. I don't really see her being nervous, dealing with a difficulty on her own without the mentor stepping in and doing it for her, or learn about what she sees with each opponent. Instead we get mentor acting like the insecure boyfriend who constantly attempts to kill the dudes who fight his girlfriend.

Same series of events with the barbarian arc; everything perfectly handled by the mentor, and everyone else screws up forcing the mentor to fix their problems. Did we get to see the heroic last stand from his two students? Nope, we get to see the mentor be a prevert with two other girls.

After this arc, everything wants the mentor's d, and that is why I stopped. Nothing new, no real conflict, and nothing changes: wifus grow in number and remain fixed to their particular fetish, and the hero does no wrongs and suffers little to no consequences for his actions. <<less

He talks with the voices in his head too often. The majority of the chapters seem to be him talking about nonsense to them. I love the idea of this story, but iv'e lost interest and I'm starting to get really bored reading it.

It's an inferior version of Zero no tsukaima. Well too be fair, it's just similar in some aspects to it, it's obvious the author wasn't trying to copy others work. Still I couldn't help but compare the two.

I find it really interesting, it may not be the best out there but it's still good. There are a lot of characters however they all have different and simple name so it's easy to remember ^^

It doesn't deserve all those one star marks at all!

Looks great so far, unlike a lot of other Qidian novels that are rather booring - this novel has an interesting vibe to it. Hopefully it will continue the same way, and wont get failed midway like some other novels.

This is not your usual chinese cultivation novel, at least for now, an it really feels like a somewhat japanese, and this is exactly what I like. Japanese novels tend to be more interesting plotwise and more rich in a world building aspect, a lot of usual chinese cultivation novels feel... more>> very bland in this aspect, at least for me. And paired with a more decisive and less whimpy chinese MC (comparing to your usual japanese MC) we can expect some really good action to come here. <<less

Not bad

This is surprisingly better than I thought, I randomly found this novel, did not read any review nor summary of it so I have no expectation going in

The first few chapters feel a bit lacking, I can already see the quality of the writing is mediocre at best, but not as bad as most random WN, still acceptable (some example would be how the author often like to state things again despite the obvious information that he gives out already clearly pointing out to a certain direction, making it... more>> less effective although not to the point of the average xianxia where a few chapters could be summarized in a few paragraphs because of how many sentence and information are repeated, but I still find that kinda annoying and show the lack of author's ability and trust in the reader cognitive ability to put the obvious information and come with their own conclusion without having someone pointing that out to them)

on the early chapter there will be quite a bit of info dump about the MC and the main heroine, his main objective as well as his motivation is stated clearly which is really nice, so although the slice of life and moe interaction is the main reason I enjoy this novel, the process in which the MC trying to achieve his goal is a decent way to keep the plot going and work as a clear direction for the story, unlike in most slice of life WN where the author is often just filling most of the chapter with filler and a common troupe without any clear goal in mind, another thing to note is that the MC act decent and although not completely still somewhat convincing and suit his background, because in a lot of WN that I regretly read, some of the MC is *said* or *supposed* to be a reincarnation of an old veteran or adult, yet they act very unlike their age, most of them is incopetent, impulsive, emotional, naive, and or ignorant, it is as if they are children pretending to be an adult instead of an adult being in a child body, in here, however, the MC does seems like an elder, although sometimes depicted in an unnatural fashion/forced

that said there will be many small details that might piss some people off, such as stereotype side characters that will appear here and there, unnecessary and excessive sexual description, the overly dramatic beautiful character just like most xianxia, and some other minor details that you would often find in a shounen amateur web novel/xianxia (well, although there is a clear japanese influence but the subtle yet clear chinese influence is definitely noticable, my fav kind of novel usually lean on neither side)

still, I think 3.5 rating is too low especially since a lot of aspects in this novel is generally better than some higher rated novel

conclusion, this novel is fairly light and enjoyable to read as long as you understand what you are getting into and didn't expect more than what is offered, I would definitely recommend in picking this up if you like cute girl, cool-headed OP MC, school life, slice of life and could tolerate minor inconsistency and a mediocre quality in writing <<less

Like most novels, the MC's aquire an old master that teaches them mysterious techniques and skills.

However in this novel, the MC is the old master and he has a gang of other masters that whisper into his ear, bidding to get reincarnated (in a sense). The MC is summoned by a young girl and thus the shenanigans begin.

About half the story is the gang making comments on the MC's actions and whats happening with the girl.

I found the character interactions unique in this sense and interesting. I felt the need... more>> to write this review since the other reviews here didn't quite explain this point. <<less
