Ban Yu-won can understand all the languages in existence. He was able to translate every language, modify it.

As a child, when Ban Yu-won first learned about the existence of the fictional building called the Tower of Babel in the Bible, his respectable grandfather told him it was their ancestors who built it.

“The Tower of Babel was completed without collapse, and people have the wrong idea.”

One day, out of the blue, the Union Academy practical exam began. Finding traces of his ancestors at the academy, Ban Yu-won decides to enroll in the academy full of monsters.

I'm gonna be the first to say that I am an avid Toika hater. I love his good actions scenes but the power scaling of his novels is typically awful for the sake of making the protagonist look good. Most of all however, I absolutely despise the interactions the main character has with other people. It feels like someone got locked in a closet with nothing but anime for social interaction and was like "Damn, this is exactly how people talk!". Unfortunately, like a rat to poisoned cheese, I keep... more>> reading all his novels expecting something different. Definition of insanity, anyone? Anyways, with all the Toika hate out of me, the novel so far is actually pretty good.

To be fair, I've only read the first 30 chapters so far but I feel like he's certainly learned from his previous novels. The interactions don't feel exaggerated too much. The protagonist is actually pretty witty and comes up with the occasional scheme that doesn't feel like it was just made up on the spot by the author. I will say, there are so many cliché's in this that Toika loves to do such as:

Spoiler

Oh gee oh golly, it's so odd how Light, the second male character in the novel, behaves weirdly feminine sometimes and gets shy when the main character takes off his shirt. It's almost like he isn't actually a 'he' and is in fact a 'she'. And oh, isn't it odd how all of his inventions that are sentient have female names? I wonder if they'll have a human female form later down the line...

[collapse]

I'm honestly just so happy that Toika has improved on his interactions. It feels like he's actually gone outside and talked to people to write this novel. That might change later on, and I'll update this review if it does. Until then, I'm enjoying it.

I was stuck between a 3.5 and a 4 star for this novel but I'm gonna give it the benefit of the doubt and give it a 4. Hopefully, I won't be smashed down on the floor like I've been with all of his previous novels. <<less

this novel feels like it was written by Toika.

that is what I wanted to say after reading the first 25 chapters. admittedly, I should have looked at who wrote this first before picking it up but, you know, better late than never.

this book is easily one of Toika's best, and if you read his previous book like Everyone Else is a Returnee, Infinite Competitive Dungeon Society, Stop, Friendly Fire! and A VIP as Soon as You Log In that means you know it would be incredible.

one thing I like about... more>> Toika is that he is able to mix modern and fantasy in a way that makes sense, I mean if you have a problem with this... just give up on this genre.

right off the bat, I can tell you that the MC's power is something you are familiar with yet have never seen anywhere before... like every Toika book, you know shopkeeper noona is somewhere here!

ps: if the translation team read this... please put Disqus on your website. <<less

The premise of this novel is extremely unique and intriguing. An Academy across dimensions, where only the most qualified can attend. Earth being the lowest dimension haven't even heard of the Academy nor magic. The academy revolves around the goal of clearing a tower. The tower which is said you would become a god after clearing. That tower? It is the mc's ancestry heritage.

Even the power of the MC is very unique. He has ability to understand all languages. Extract the core concepts from everything, and convert it to anything.... more>> He can even combine and dilute the concepts. These concepts are like skills or the essence of things.

The novel was great at the start. Interesting from C10, and then from C20 it already fell off... To finish the novel, ud need to be a person in a phase looking for these specific cores: MC way too OP, convenient cardboard harem, and JPN isekai styled writing. Although it's not an isekai novel, the writing and story devolve into the beta jpn isekai style. Lack of main reaching plot, though present very weak as it is literally to get stronger... thats it... Paper antagonists. They might as well not exist and are often very forced into the plot. And lastly everything is just oh so extremely conveniently there and easy going for the MC... plot armor.

The biggest problem as u could guess was the overpowerdness of the MC. Though it's in a phase of weak to strong, not to mention the countless amount of plot holes such as not using his endless money to just pay2win, he's already the most op in his grade pretty much.

And again, the plot armor are too numerous... and those that are smarter would see countless plot holes and ways things could've been better.

Over the course of 20 chaps the chaps literally decline in quality every 10ish. The side characters all lack depth. And his core class side chars, those from the lower dimensions, all have isekai type character problems ud commonly spot in jpn novels. Essentially, they're flat and/or cliched/cringe.

Not the best in depth reviewer but grand thing I'm saying is unless u r looking for these niches all you'll get is regret reading this for what it could've been.

Honestly to me Toika the author has some of the best premise story starters, but he is like a Chinese writer where it's amazing at start to hook, fluff, then sht cause they moved on as his stories always bring ruins to themselves. The saving grace is there isn't filler for dozens of chaps on end, though this novel of his has the most filler out of other 2 I distinctly remember. <<less

So far so good.

Great world building and tracking the MCs growth is enjoyable.

As of chapter 40, villains and over arching threat hasn't been established yet.

Also, MC growth power is pretty broken. Combination of the powers from level 1 hero and and gluttony type powers without having to eat people.

As of now. Worth a read.

Well what can I say, it's a Toy Car novel. Harem of beautiful girls, comedy, and absurd amounts of power scaling and plot armor. While it's something I personally enjoy it might not be everyone's cup of tea, I suggest giving it a go.
