Xue Ling is a nine tailed fox who has been cultivating for thousands of years but lost all his tails in a moment of capriciousness.

Tails are easy to self destruct, but not easy to recover. In order to restore his human figure, he must struggle to destroy the plot, forcibly change the protagonist’s fate, and be the cannon fodder in the first line of attack.

But why are these plots more and more irrational? The setup is getting more and more weird, and what is with this person that is showing up in every single world?

It seems that before going through all these worlds, he has forgotten some very important affairs?

Su Xuanyan: Yes, you’ve forgotten me.

Xue Ling: Get lost! (▼皿▼#) Clearly every time you are the one that doesn’t remember anything!

Su Xuanyan: Oh, this is purely an accident.

Overall, this novel is just kind of... boring. The story follows Xue Ling, a demon fox that lost his tails and must go through various worlds to steal the luck of the world's darlings to regain his strength. It's a quick transmigration novel.

The general attitude XL takes towards the tasks are exactly like that of a fox/cat: indolent, a little haughty, mischievous, cold, and quick to bore. I've gone through 4 arcs at this point, and there's just very little tension. The original plots he finds himself embroiled in are... more>> pretty nonsensical. The world's darlings are all scum with no redeeming qualities.

You'd think the scheming and face slapping would be the highlights, with the targets being tr*sh and the MC being a cunning fox, but the main plots are usually solved quite quickly. He schemes a bit, makes some headway, meets the ML who has so far been some high powered individual, toys with his targets, and eventually gets bored, letting the ML mop up the rest. This setup isn't new to quick trans novels, but it's just... not very dramatic. His schemes aren't complicated, and they work without twists and turns or any surprises whatsoever. He also has access to the ML's golden thigh, so like I said, there's just no tension and it ends very quickly. Pacing is all-around an issue in this novel. WTMT simply has one or two major face slapping confrontations after the MC quickly rises to power (sometimes even in the background after a time skip) and then it's onto the next world.

The relationship between the leads is much more interesting. Overarching relationship is shrouded in mystery, and it's been fun seeing their personalities play off each other in the worlds - the fox and his emotionally repressed but indulgent lover. XL acts as the sly but distant seductress, never the first to initiate, and reading about the ML's evolving response to it is interesting, if only I didn't have to slog through the rest of the novel.

Edit: it was unfair of me to mention other novels in my review of this one, so I've removed any references, especially since the other work wasn't perfect by any standard. Regardless, my issues with this novel remain. I brought up the comparison simply to highlight different approaches to story pacing and dramatic tension/resolution, which WTMT is just unexceptional at. Effort was made to have us hate the villains in each arc completely. In that, the author is wildly successful. It's just frustrating when the "plots" of the arcs are treated as complete afterthoughts and the MC loses interest before we even really get to any sort of confrontation. At first, it was kind of disheartening. After a few arcs, I thought to myself: "If even the MC doesn't care, why should I?" And so, a significant portion of this novel became a nuisance to get through. All-in-all, this novel is just extremely mediocre. <<less

As other people have pointed out, the biggest frustration with this novel is that it starts one way, giving an interesting premise for quick transmigration face slapping, with a scheming fox protagonist, and then very very quickly downslides into very boring stories with no obstacles, no cleverness on the MCs part, and just lots of back and forth banter between the main couple.

For this reason, I was waffling between rating this 2 or 3, because while it's just kind of boring and there's no conflict or excitement at all, it's... more>> not like the novel is particularly bad or offensive, it just completely lacks any kind of character or anything about it that's interesting. Also, a QT novel completely ignoring the plots and face slapping of each world as it progressively dedicates more and more entire chapters to just the main couple interacting isn't anything new to the genre - most QT novels I read always end up throwing plot by the way side to focus on the romance, so while I find the ML kind of creepy and unlikeable, which makes the focus on their relationship less interesting to me, singling this novel out specfically for doing what most QT novels do still didn't seem fair.

But eventually I did decide to give it two stars. The reason why: I asked myself, "if you had to say one good thing about this novel, what would it be?" and I drew a blank. My personal views on the ML aside, there is nothing objectively bad about this story in particular that isn't a problem with many QT novels, but other QT novels at least in the beginning had clever face slapping scenarios, dogblood drama, heightened soap operatic characters that made them fun and interesting.

But WTMT is not the worst novel; it's not even a bad novel. Its greatest crime is that it is an absolutely mediocre novel, so much so that I wrote three paragraphs reviewing this but I didn't actually say a single thing about it, because there was nothing in the novel to say. <<less

The story is really good. I wonder why this was not on the recommendations of the FOD. If you have read FOD and you really enjoyed it, you might want to try this one. I think it might be even better than it. I really like the flow of the story, you can see how the MC struggles to accept his feelings for ML.

Spoiler

He alfinally accepted his feelings at the 3rd arc.

[collapse]

I also like the last part where the MC was the one who have no memories this time.

Also, the system is seriously a pit haha. Always digging grave.

Let me tell you a story:

On a far far away world, there lived a mysterious family. Every time their patriarch was born, they would have an artifact (or any physical entity) would be born with them, bonding with it, together through thick and thin.

One day, their little patriarch was born but what was born with him was a spiritual being. The spiritual being was so weak and fragile. Apparently, the will of the world cannot tolerate the existence of the two being together in it's world. The family was worried what to do since this was the first time they encountered a situation like this. They could only hopelessly send it to other world so it would grow up well.

As thousands of years goes by, the little patriarch grew up, becoming a powerful existence. The spiritual being grew into a enchanting figure with thousands of years of experience and skills.

However, while the former knew the existence of the other, the latter does not.

One day, Patriarch went to find the man and told him their relationship. The proud man was angry. He lived without being restrained by anything then someone suddenly claimed that he was bound with him, he was of course angry. But patriarch will not give up so he made a bet with the man. If the man wins he would have his freedom, if patriarch wins, they would spend their immortal lives together.

At the end, who do you think won the bet? <<less

Stop comparing EVERY SINGLE FAST WEAR BL NOVEL to QOD. If I have a penny for every review that mentions QOD in their review section, I’ll be drowning in riches.

As mentioned by other reviewers, the story focuses mainly on the MC and ML. It’s not the best novel there is, nor is it the worst. I suppose it’s a good read if you want to pass the time, but there’s not many good points here that’ll make me stick around for the long run.

UPDATE: Still same old, still awful, still boring. I highly recommend [Don't Pick Up Boyfriends From the tr*sh Bin] which is probably 10x better than this one in every aspect, serious.

The novel started out very good and there are even a few very enjoyable arcs (the earlier arcs), but overall, there has been a trending lack of tension. Too much of the climaxes and other events in this story are merely summarized in 1-2 sentences.

The author pretty much only spends a bit of effort to describe the first 10% of... more>> the original plot before quickly accelerating to "top-power-level" and wrapping up the story at the speed of a train wreck. Basically, when readers finally get a little bit invested in the story, it's over.

Don't bother caring about any of the side characters because they're completely mindless/2D/only there to decorate the world, and they disappear equally quickly. Including the supposed "protagonists" of the world. Literally none of them get fleshed out more than appearing in the background. The only people that matter in the story are the MC and ML and their 'epic' romance.

Yeah, so about that romance.

Spoiler

It's shallow, wish-fulfillment, and pretty boring. The author repeatedly emphasizes cliched confessions, a perfect godly ML chasing and pampering the MC through every world while the MC plays hard-to-get. There's no tension or drama, and zero obstacles. Just endless sap.

Honestly, I like fluff and sap as much as the next person. But seriously, the writing style is so boring, there's no sense of discovery. After they become a couple, the different situations in each world have no effect on the romance or relationship, so everything stays static. At this point, every time the ML is about to appear, I'm seriously dreading it because that means the rest of the world will be completely pointless and we'll be moving on shortly.

[collapse]

The MC was great in the beginning, and he was OP but not to the point of making the story pointless. Well, that's changed.

There's nothing wrong with game-breaking skills, if the author could handle writing them well. With the MC's personality as "if there is a easy way out, I will take it, " the author doesn't bother to make any creative solutions and pretty much just has the MC completely cheese through all obstacles. *Snap* challenge is won, plot is overcome.

And the novel started out with such potential!! ‧º· (˚ ˃̣̣̥⌓˂̣̣̥) ‧º·˚

Spoiler

There were good parts in the beginning when the MC and ML didn't get together right away. There was a lot of humor and slow burn, and the MC worked hard to deal with the world's issues because he had lost much of his power.

Additionally, since the author wrote some interesting parts poking logic at other illogical novel set-ups, I thought the author would take a better route with their own story...

I was wrong.

[collapse]

The translation is really fantastic, so the reading is quite fluid and smooth. You can still enjoy it if all you're looking for is some mindless dog-food to read. <<less

I have exactly two problems with this novel.

1. The romance between the MC and ML.

2. There is a plot that is boring as heck.

1. The MC was interesting and funny at first especially with his system but he starts to get annoying after 2 arcs (for me at least). There is a phrase that love turns man onto fools. I can say this phrase apply very well to ML. He is a masochistic fool when it comes to MC. Their relationship is so unequal it hurts physically to read. I... more>> frankly can't see MC love for ML. Their relationship is one of the worst I have ever read about.

2. The novel is mainly about the MC and ML and about them being oh so romantic. The different arcs are undeveloped in favour of the romance. Most of the characters are one dimensional and bland. If you take the romance out of the novel, there would literally be nothing in the novel. There is no character development for the mains. MC remains as lazy, arrogant and pompous as ever and ML is as lovesick as ever.

This novel was really disappointing, really don't recommend it. <<less

If you like to fantasize about how it feels like to be chased by a man again and again or how it feels like to have different romantic settings with one person then this is the story for you.

It's been fun reading what MC and ML go through each world. It reminds me a lot of [As the Minor Gay Rival in Het Novels] but a little easier to read and a lot more repetitive. The worlds are the standard, there's face slapping if that's your cup of tea. BUT... more>> and this is a big but, the whole novel feels like a story about MC's cry for attention. There's a standard routine- MC meets ML > teases ML by acting hard-to-get > MC waits for ML's confession of his undying love (I'm rolling my eyes here) > ML says some really sweet, touching words > MC and ML roll in the sheets. Don't get me wrong, it's not bad or boring but after a few worlds, it really got me rolling my eyes, which is almost impossible since I'm essentially the biggest sap when it comes to love. Overall, this is a 3.5 but I rounded it down for the above reason. It doesn't bring anything new to the world hopping genre but is a decent read. <<less

This is definitely in my top 3 fast-wear novels. Each arc is interesting, the overall plot progression is well done, and it doesn't get repetitive like some world-hopping romances do. The translator does an excellent job as well.

Other reviewers have said it better, but I really love the MC's foxy tsundere personality and his relationship dynamic with the ML. They show their love for each other in their own unique ways. The ML could easily lock his lover in a black room like he wants to, but he also wants... more>> to see MC fly freely, so he is willing to do absolutely anything to make the MC happy. I love watching the MC tease the repressed ML until he finally blows his top haha. MC definitely wears the pants in the relationship, lol. <<less

I tired *so* hard to like this... but it’s a waste of time. MC is a vindictive, petty, vain little f*ck who spends most of the stories kicking people who are already down. ML is usually a powerful character the MC can conveniently use to punish ppl- while being abused and mistreated by the MC for just happening to occupy the body of someone who was mean to the host body in the OG plotline. MC just went though every story line being pampered and catered to by both system... more>> and ML and yet still feeling like he deserved more. Exhausting to read. <<less

This novel started out really good but then it began to get more and more less exciting.

The MC & ML are always OP which I don't mind considering the fact that Face of the Devil is one of my favorite novels. But in this case the different arcs seem so boring & monotonous because of the absence of an obstacle. It's like the MC doesn't even take his missions seriously (which he doesn't if you ask me).

I think during the making of this novel the author decided to turn this... more>> quick transmigration story into a sappy romance story which is sometimes really cringeworthy when you see how spoiled the MC acts... like there's obviously a big personality switch from the "beginning" MC and the current MC.

For me, the beginning of this novel was really promising. I would have rated the story simply a 4.5 or 5 out of 5. The latest arcs are.... not really my cup of tea, so to me this novels is starting to get worse. Although I have to say that it isn't THAT bad. It's just not that interesting and exciting anymore.

I really hope the author gets back to the usual "style" (mature!MC come back pls) or can somehow make the arcs more interesting by balancing the romance and action out or just putting a (worthy) antagonist in this story instead of focusing basically only on the romance part (or just make the romance part less cringey)...

Update: Nothing changed. <<less

Not one of the better world-hopping novels, unfortunately. People were comparing it to QWFOD so I was pretty excited, but although there are similarities it fell (way way) short for me. Would've rated a 2 but I felt overall rating was way too high hense a 1 instead. Honestly, probably one of the worst QT stories I've read, and trust me I've read a LOT.

Firstly, the characters. I don't like how the MC treats the ML; expects to be spoiled, super selfish, and always waiting for ML to chase them.... more>> Unreasonably gets mad and blames ML for situations out of his control. ML always spoils MC to the heavens, yet the way MC shows his love is always lacking in comparison. It's fine in the first few arcs, but I was really irritated with how the MC treated the ML when he was the General.

He's also always OOC (out of character) too. He always acts the exact same, even though the premise is supposed to be that he's supposed to act similar to the actual character he's playing, and honestly, it gets tiring. For example, in QWFOD, the MC does a really good job of playing the character while still being himself; here, it's always just the MC's selfish personality. There's also no real plotting, just a lot of OP-ness that solves everything for him.

MC is also pretty hypocritical. He enters a world with a rebirth character, who eliminates their opponents before they turn black because they know what will happen, and MC admonishes them since his character is usually cannon fodder. But MC does the exact same thing! Although I guess it's just a strong eat weak world.

Regarding the plot, I haven't really felt anything was particularly amazing about the arcs. They're very classic, and I haven't felt that much from them.

For writing and translation, it's actually pretty annoying, especially in the first few chapters. I'm pretty sure this was MTL, since sentence structure and wording is strange.

All in all, not a really good read. It's not terrible, but there's better. Tbh QWFOD is better in pretty much every way... <<less

At first I dont really expect this story because in two first world the ML is passive and I abandoned this story---lmao abandoned.

But suddenly I want to read it again and it turn out too sweet I cant stop grinning xD

I love the character development?

This story is so cute! The translation quality is also excellent and there are daily updates (sometimes even more).

I find myself waiting excitedly for every new chapter. Very similar to quickly wear the face of the devil, especially the most recent chapters. The MC has such a cute and mischievous character and the ML is so devoted and loving. The system is also very cute and it’s not overly powerful, but still useful. Guides the MC as well as it can, the way a system should be!

Spoiler

I like the fact that the MC & ML have a good reason to be that powerful/cunning. It’s because they’re originally from a cultivation world and have lived a long time and this is the MC’s tribulation of sorts. So we can see that he has to learn a lot when he goes to worlds that aren’t like the one he comes from. Like this most recent futuristic interstellar world.

Story is just... meh

The translation is what makes it a decent read.

The story became repetitive. The MC doesn't have to put much effort to complete the tasks as the ML is always around to do it for him. No chemistry.

This is a novel I'd recommend to anyone who likes QWTFOD. There are many similarities between the two. My actual rating would be something between 4 to 4.25 but I gave it 5 just to boost the novel's reputation more. (Not that it needs it :p) This novel has some pretty good points and some "meh" points but overall it's a very good read.

I like and at the same time, dislike the MC's personality. On one hand he's a very cunning, sassy character who can occasionally use his OP powers in the different arcs. What I dislike about him is his arrogance and at times, his tendency of testing the ML. Although, this point actually makes him more believable - behind his arrogance and sassiness, there are insecurities that everyone faces. So he becomes lovable and appears to be somewhat "tsundere". The ML on the other hand seems a 50/50 combination of positives and negatives. I love some of his characteristics while I find some of them to be very questionable - but I guess that goes for almost any quick transmigration ML. Some of the aspects of character seem to be over-emphasized. But
Spoiler

I like how the author provides explanation for that when ML confesses that the ten directions world actually emphasizes different sides of his character like jealousy, possessiveness etc. According to the need of the plot.

[collapse]

Overall, the ML seems sweet, indulges and smothers the MC to death and is ALWAYS OP! I have to be honest though, I loved the first two arcs
Spoiler

even though the protagonists didn't hook up in those 2 arcs. They helped to set the tone for the characters

[collapse]

The story itself has some loopholes and logic that should've been considered but they don't bother you too much unless you're nitpicking. I just wish these types of stories elaborated on the later life of the characters instead of just announcing what happened afterwards. But I guess you can't have it all. ╮ (╯▽╰) ╭ Finally, I'd definitely recommend reading this even if you just want to read it for the fluff and interaction of the MC & System.

I will definitely recommend this novel it's worth it. Also I may read this again couples of years later when I will almost forget it.

I am totally into transmigration/ rebirth/world hopping novels now so it's really worth for me. Truth to be told at first I didn't the arcs much I thought there was something missing compared to few transmigration stories. I think the each of the arcs moves very fast the author dose not give importance to the side characters they are just kept to bridge the line for... more>> MC and ML lovestory. It mainly focus on the development of relation between the MC and ML and bits of MC's past unfolds in the continuation of the arcs. I liked the concept of fox eyes and the tear drop mole of MC which doesn't change with the transmigration. Also I really liked the relation between the 'system' (which is a little fox) and the MC

[As in the last arc it was not allowed for the system to go with the MC but still it did by adjusting few things. It used to nag to the MC about the ML which he is scared of but in the last arc he wants to help the MC to reunite with ML as he forgets every thing][/spoiler]

Overall it's a worth reading novel thought the concept is quite similar to the 'transmigration world' yet it has its own charm.

I want to conclude the review with applause for the translator XIIN. The updates are very consistent and well translated. <<less

The MC is mischievous and the ML is very patient and repressed in the beginning. They don't get together for a couple of worlds so some people might consider this a slow burn romance. I really like that they actually explain why the ML is always rich and powerful in each of the worlds and the explanation makes sense to the reader; most of the time that's just how it is and we never know why.

my favorite was the story with his brother. The MC is not and never has been human and therefore doesn't conform to human social norms. It helped to highlight his innate differences as "other" and I think it was cleverly done by the author

there are a couple worlds I disliked or lost interest in (don't really like the abo or 3 (6) gender stories). This novel is very sweet over all and the endings of each world didn't leave me in tears. Usually it was just a paragraph boiling down to "and they grew old and died together." the ending was cute. I felt sorry for the poor system, who had to suffer from diabetic coma at times and was kicked out to go sit in the cold while its host got busy with his man. This story is really more of a 3.5 but its good enough that I went ahead and rounded up instead of down. <<less

I honestly don’t know what to say about this story. It was good until it wasn’t. I got bored and skipped several worlds. Somehow pushed and got to the last segment and was still disappointed.

I usually like reading system & transmigration novels. But I feel that this one was rushed af. I feel that if the author took their time to actually fully develop the worlds, it would have been way better than this. This had potential to be so much better than it was.

A really nice multiple world hopping story! The MC is cunning, cool and smart so expect some nice face slappings. He is like a crafty fox and enjoys watching his prey at the height of their life and then fall abruptly, which is really satisfying considering what they did to the host.

It is kinda like FOD so if you liked that then I can definitely recommend this! Also the translation is really nice with really fast releases!

Just wanted to write a review since there aren't any yet.

Its about a fox spirit who wants to become a celestial fox but loses all this tails so he has to transmigrate to different worlds to gain energy to find his tails. Each arc is different, the MC is smart but not too OP, the ML is the same in each arc. Lots of faceslapping and cute moments, its worth reading.
