This is a story about a person reincarnated into a white dragon which is in the lowest spectrum among the 5 colors dragon race. The reincarnated part is not overly mentioned and only exists to keep his morality in check and help in cultivating some food. MC is born with a system element that is not excessively cheating, only to help him identify stuff and detecting enemies. He also got above average in terms of power level compared to the same dragon color but in this world where any race... more>> can go up in level to legendary and above, many things can threaten him. Lately, he went on an adventure with 3 of his sibling, striving to survive and grow up into adult dragons.

The story progress at a steady pace with time skip during his sleep or waiting for the town to progress. The element of town building is well written, not overly focus on minor details, and only shows the real result that the reader can picture. In this early chapter, MC starts to build his own little force on a faraway island. Where, of course, force all nearby into submission as a dragon would but he's not killing anyone unnecessarily which is likable. The combat scenes are fun to read. MC and his band fought against enemies at the same rank and suffered some damage all the time. Even though they are dragons, they can't just stream roll everybody. The carefulness of the MC also makes the story interesting while he is not two-step ahead of anyone, in particular, it also shows that he can sometimes make mistakes in his decision. The MC is very calculative and there is no leapfrog face slapping. He's either fighting people at the same rank or under. When he meets someone stronger, if it's the common enemy of the plane, he will call in his friend, Guardian Council, to beat it up. Anyone else, he will not provoke them in the first place. Most characters are memorable. The background story and lore are quite deep as well and came with good explanations at an acceptable length. It can be dated back 10, 000 years of history (as all Chinese novels do, unreasonably long time), with relics, ruins, heritages, devil war still have an impact up to this day.

The story ends in a very generic way, lacking epicness. Honestly, it could be better but it still good enough. The last part was rush through with MC gaining a leap in power and suddenly world war.

Verdict: Very addictive but lacking in the main story aspect. 4.5 out of 5. <<less

The MC of this story is a White Dragon with a human soul. Basically, the MC, using his Earth knowledge and special cheat/system-gift, slowly grows up in the fantasy world, founds a nation (uniting several monster species), and, eventually, becomes a leading figure in the universe.

I thought, overall, the story was entertaining and I binged the series in the span of a few days by reading what was available here and then finishing the novel through an MTL website. In particular, there were three things I especially loved in "White... more>> Dragon Lord." First, I found the MC's relationship with his three siblings--Felicia, Elena, and Willy--heartwarming. All three siblings were interesting characters and I liked how the MC's initial human perspective lead him to take actions to unite all the four dragons together to create a unique sibling bond in the story's universe.

Next, I found the nation-building aspects of the story to be interesting. After the MC, Amos and his siblings came-of-age and left the nest, the four conquered, over many years an island archipelago, founding a nation. The nation, through the passing of many years (trust me, there are a lot of time skips), slowly becomes an important world player--and this process was fun to follow.

Finally, I liked that the author chose to use other P.O.V. (Points of view) chapters to highlight the changes Amos, his country, and/or the universe experienced after certain events. For example, the chapter from the perspective of a Murloc in the Kingdom, or a human opponent in a war against the MC's forces in a subplan, or, much later in the story, Felicia, the MC's sister. These brief chapters or, in some cases, series of chapters help us get an outside perspective of the MC, Amos and how he is influencing the fantasy universe (on the whole) in a positive direction.

In regards to complaints, I have only two critiques to offer, which may in time turn out to be unnecessary--they are that the novel has a slight pacing problem and there are one (1) to two (2) dropped plot points. To begin, I feel that as the story progressed--especially the last few arcs--the author wanted to conclude the story quickly so we are left with a relatively open-ended conclusion. In earlier parts of the story the author seemed to world-build and foreshadow or plant upcoming events for them to be resolved in a truncated matter later in the story. I will addresses this more in the following spoiler section along with the two potentially dropped plot points.

Spoiler

First, it appears that the author may have forgot about the Demon Balrog who followed the MC to the Madelyn plane. Unless, I missed something in the MTL (which is possible) we never read about him again, unless the Balrog died along with the other psuedo-snake God, Cthulhu Cult God. To me, I'm glad the Madelyn arc came back into focus, but, I didn't quite understand everything that happened there--was the entire plane a prison planet--so besides the imprisoned Titan-Dragon egg the other four were trapped in the surrounding sea? If this is the case, then I feel it was a lackluster ending to the conflict.

Similarly, what exactly happened to some of the rest of Amos' other enemies. To me, it appears the author lost interest in dealing with them--unless, this was an intentional choice by the author to show us that sometimes things aren't always wrapped up in a nice bow (but if this was the case, then I wish the author would have been more explicit about it). In particular, what happened to the Snake Demon Abyss Queen after she retreated with her injuries and what about the Dragon Cult? Earlier in the story, it seemed that the MC would pursue/expunge the Dragon Cult in vengeance for his mother and because of the threat they posed to dragons overall. However, the focus later shifted to the Titan-Dragon war so I understand the distraction.

Lastly, I found that there appeared to be a missing Divinity and/or Abyss Arc. Not only did the story not end with the MC becoming a God (which many authors in the genre do) --but there was no conclusion to the demon war--or even the Titan-Dragon conflict. (Although, if fairness, the Dragons do seem to be the overall victors). It seems the author didn't want to give enough time to write out all everything that happens and/or lost interest. Another example of this is that when the MC is trapped in the abyss, the MC's clone passes one or more of the other winter trials without us seeing it and his potential to be the successor to the Ice Elemental plan is handwaved with Amos concluding he never wanted the position anyways. (I do understand prioritize his main body's life over potential future power, but I wish we got to see those trials and/or understood all of his thought processes.)

Nonetheless, all of my critiques could be irrelevant, since it appears, upon research, that this story is set in a greater Shared Universe. If this is one novel among many, then I don't think there is or should be pressure on one author to tie up all the loose ends. It may be more interesting to see what becomes of Amos, Felicia, Elena, Willy, and all their friends, subordinates, and enemies in other entries of the series. Moreover, I know in my haste to read the novel and due to the difficulties of MTL, I most likely skimmed over or misread key details.

In conclusion, read this story if you like Dragons, family, and kingdom-building. Give it several chapters to see if it's the novel for you. Personally, I think it's worth your time! <<less

Fantastic! I don't comment much on this platform but this— oh I believe it's a must. From the get-go, it doesn't give the feeling of being under the weather, and the pacing is self, for me is likeable. As the saying goes, don't judge a book by its first couple of chapters. Well done.

Stories can get divided into two categories. One is cool characters doing cool things or a story about characters overcoming their fears or whatever and seeing if they can overcome them. This is a story about cool characters doing cool things. The characters are not cool, they are names on paper but that's ok that's not the most harmful thing to this novel. So what about the cool things? Well... that's actually problematic. Chapter 1 spoiler: ... more>>
Spoiler

The MC is born with a system that scans everything and that, I feel, takes away all the cool things the event could have been. Like, imagine, if the character was a super genius in comparison to the super idiot character trait of his species and he was doing all the analysis of items and coming to somewhat accurate conclusions? (this could have also been interesting to see in battle since he could have made an incorrect assumption of the object and backfired on him and he has to turn the tides even more so) and he was one who had clever battle tactics like playing 3-D chess? That's the system doing all the (correct) work for him.

Anyway back to the main point, about doing cool things, I don't think the magic system was designed well enough for these 'cool things'. It's very plain and lackadaisical, the only 'magic system' is the ranking and levels, which doesn't help the fighting to become spectacular. It's not that this novel is bad, it's just not good and boring since nothing is spectacular or there is no reason to continue clicking next. <<less

Most characters are called in at least 2 ways, by name or title by the narrator. Sometimes you get confused, when the narrator calls the person by name, in the next paragraph calls by the title and then goes back to calling the name again or worse, calls by the name of the race. The MC is called by the 3: White Dragon Lord (title), White Dragon (Race), Amos (Name)...

Spoiler

It all escalates really fast, one paragraph he's chasing a defeated enemy, a few paragraphs later he's on the brink of death and then he pulls some new skill out of his ass to survive. Do you want an explanation of the new skill? Simple, >>> Inheritance <<<, you don't get explanation before or after about such ability.

Was the system really necessary?

It's a little difficult for you to care about the MC because he is narrated in almost the same way as any random character.

The first half of this novel I would rate a 5. It has excellent world building and characters have plenty of thought put into them, for the first half. Around chapters 200-250 or so the author just seems to lose interest in the novel. Many interesting plot points are just cut short and have simple resolutions and it feels as if the author just tries to end the novel, which feels very early and unsatisfying. I will be rating this a 5 still though, purely because I believe this novel... more>> deserves more attention than it has. The current TL is very good and switching to MTL from it is very difficult. <<less

There's not much to talk about this novel since it's just beginning. I like the works where the protagonist is not a human being because it breaks the cliche and beyond to make a difference, though most of these works MC have human souls. I just hope it doesn't have the nonsense of him winning the method of having a humanoid shape, this already stresses me a lot in other works.... more>>
Spoiler

And it seems that it will follow the same path as "The crimson dragon" which is from the same universe, even the way of acting of the two protagonists of the work is similar, but it has its differences, for example the protagonist is not a character without emotions and feelings, he cares about his brothers who by the way are charismatic.
