Jiang Bao never thought she would have a younger twin sister.….. they were fraternal twins with totally different looks and personalities, and the other twin had always been wandering outside.

She was 16 when she enrolled in Massachusetts (MIT), where she lived in a manor with a horseracing track. She was the top rich and beautiful young lady in the social circle, with an overbearing personality.

Lin Can was the meal ticket for her whole family, with low self-esteem. She was arranged to work as a hostess and was discriminated against in school and by the members of her 18 line girl group.

When the fair rich beauty and the poor girl exchange bodies, everyone around them notices that the girl who always wanted fame and experienced extreme bullying and criticism, and the prideful and aloof girl are different from before..

Notes:
1. Fair Rich Beauty is directly translated from the Chinese term 白富美 (baifumei), which is a positive term and refers to a girl who is fair-skinned, rich, and beautiful in appearance.
2. 18 line girl group, or 十八线女团 (shi ba xian nu tuan), is a chinese term that refers to an unpopular girl group, often known to take more measures to gain traction compared to famous groups. A K-pop equivalent term would be a nugu girl group.

It's best not to think of this as a body switch so much as a Mary Sue transmigrates into a loser but the loser is still hanging around. It's a pretty good concept as far as it is worked out, and I honestly want to see where it goes, but I just can't take the pain of reading it.

The translator has done a really fine job but unless they feel like doing a rewrite using the original as a guideline there's no helping this novel. I had a tremendous... more>> difficulty following where things were, what was happening, what the setting was. It was just exceptionally confusing despite the fact the novel machine translated relatively well. The author just has a habit of jerking around the reader that made me want to find something else to read.

Like many of these novels it does try to make wealth p*rn a big thing, but the author just doesn't have the ability to pull it off. It takes a certain amount of avarice and lust for luxury to do a proper job of this and they just didn't have it. They have some words and brand names and don't do a great job of using them.

On the plus side you have an incredibly powerful Mary Sue for the MC, and when you can figure what is happening it's fun to watch. Even so, you are always wondering why the MC is doing X when she could just short circuit to Z. It's still very very confusing and frustrating.

Bottom line: I'd avoid. It's too incoherent and has too little integrity to skip through and is too painful to read closely. <<less

entertaining read. MC is very OP, problems are solved quite quickly, MC’s emotional journey was great to see and it was really cool seeing how the switch and 2nd chance really changed MC and her twin LC’s lives for the better.

What I liked about the novel:

1. MC is OP. Very very OP. She’s very intelligent, very accomplished and she’s confident in herself. And it’s all completely deserved. At the start of the novel, her OP-ness might seem like luck, it’s later shown how hard she worked to earn her accomplishments... more>> (compared to her peers with similar backgrounds) along with the fact that she’s had to rely on herself from a very young age to get to where she was.

2. MC’s emotional journey. At the beginning, MC just seems super guarded and calculative and kind of alone. She tries as much as possible to solve issues herself, she doesn’t want to let others know when she has problems because she doesn’t trust anyone, even family members that she is supposed to be close to. She’s also quite cold and she has high expectations of everyone around her. It is pretty understandable that she turned out that way because she was basically forced to fend for herself from a very young age. She never had anyone to rely on and she was raised in a complicated environment where everyone was calculative and business interests rule all so she was simply trying to live in the best way that she knew. But as a result of the switch, she’s forced to form a closer bond with her twin and she’s put into situations where she finally understands that some of her family members genuinely care about her, just her and not how excellent and competent she is.

3. MC and twin’s happy 2nd chance at life -> at the beginning of the novel it’s shown that twin’s experiences drove her to su*cide and it might seem like MC transferring to twin’s body is to twin’s advantage but as the novel progresses, it’s shown that the swap actually really benefited both parties (MC and her twin) and it was very satisfying to see them both have much happier lives the 2nd time around with support neither of them had in their 1st life. <<less
