“Just being beautiful is not love.”

This is a slightly mature adolescent romantic comedy questioning the meaning of falling in love!

Shino Iori (virg*n), a college student in Fukuoka, becomes engaged to Tendou Tsukasa, a well-known celebrity on campus, because of an unintentional comment he made to his family.

She is a beauty and rich—however, Iori is put off by his fiancée, who is rumored to “sleep with anyone” and Tsukasa is aggressively coming onto him… where will their future go!?

This is the start of a ‘slightly mature’ romantic comedy of a breaking-off-engagement genre that questions the meaning of falling in love!!

If this girl was real, the only comment she would get is "She belongs to the streets." She wasn't misled like in a similar series and she isn't naive either. The irony is strong in that she slept with loads of men because she thought she'd be engaged to a fat, old man only to end up engaged with a good-looking guy her age who doesn't like her because she slept with everyone (98 dudes which would give her a high chance of getting an std or sti).

The main problem... more>> isn't that she isn't a pure maiden. Someone that isn't a virg*n can work just fine. The problem is that she is unironically as much of a sl*t as Panty from Panty and Stocking without an ounce of the comedy or character. In other words, she has absolutely zero redeeming qualities whatsoever. This might make a good hentai doujin at most, but definitely not a novel.

Made it to chapter 12 and it just gets worse. The mental turmoil of the MC just kinda gets removed quickly thanks to talk no jutsu from FMC. At this point, it's literally just the same old Japanese romcom with sprinkles of le*d portions. At best, this novel is a three, but the FMC seems to be toxic and spoiled. Anyone giving this a 5 is a simp or just really liked that le*d part of the story.

An example of a story that does something kind of like this right is Scott Pilgrim vs the World. <<less

You know, I never understood how people would rate something in one chapter.

Oh my god the hypocrisy and denial to claim any fault in one chapter.

You can make choices but you have to realise the consequences of those choices on others, you cannot simply wave them away. For someone so obviously privileged the female MC is currently so spoilt it is insane. She claims to have considered certain aspects but gladly ignores others and puts the blame on the other person in cases where her wilful ignorance has caused problems.

What... more>> the absolute f*ck.

Still going to read and hope the author explains themselves, also going to ignore that "Affair" tag...

Edit: I was looking back at my old reviews (a lot of them were pretty shit) and noticed I never actually added my opinion after reading the ending.

Well firstly, the affair tag wasn't accurate so that was nice.

As for the ending... it's almost exactly as I expected it to be in chapter 1, just a complete dissapointment filled with unreasonableness from the fMC and the mMC deciding that he now is okay to go against his principles despite her clearly being selfish as all f*ck.

I guess I would say 2 stars instead of 1 is fair enough but the whole time it just felt a bit icky. Also I am going to say here I don't actually care about the fact the fMC is a mega sl*t (no a couple having s*x 100 times and having s*x with 100 people is not equivalent, also how the f*ck did you manage that), just that she shows no signs of actually accepting that it has consequences and wants everyone to ignore it, which never f*cking gets resolved, it's all portrays as the mMC learning and the fMC is as perfect as ever :), which is something I have seen in these sorts of novel before. There are 2 sides to a f*cking relationship author. <<less

FL is from a rich family and is pretty but decided to sleep with close to 100 men seems unrealistic. The fact that FL doesn't respect the ML rejection and keeps going is creepy. I think the fact that people are taught "no" means "no" but that isn't seen in this novel deeply disturbs me the most.

It's uncomfortable to see a FL hit on the ML only because of how she viewed s*x and relationships. I think most men will just feel sorry for ML as we know this novel... more>> will end up with them together. If ML had other girlfriends it would have hit softer but making him a virg*n makes FL look like a predator. <<less

Disgusting who*e acceptance novel, no f*cking thanks. Also for anyone who is foolish enough to think relationships can succeed irl with tr*sh sluts like this. Look into studies about the effects on future relationships from promiscuity. Spoiler alert, sleeping around damages peoples ability to pair bond. That is of course entirely logical, humans are creatures of habit. If a person sleeps around they are practicing not forming a pair bond thus they become adept at it. You utterly destroy your ability to love others by living without emotional attachment, who... more>> would have thought? This is the reason why the enormously vast majority of marriages end in divorce these days. Modernity is a poison, like all poisons you should avoid it. Also to the fool who said "making out like this character is morally decrepit is silly." No it is completely rational to think the sl*t who goes against all morals is immoral, you utter buffoon. <<less

Tbh, many of the lower star reviews are extremely nitpicking or just straight up miss the point of this story. It’s like going to a horror movie and complaining that it isn’t funny enough and that the protags are useless. They also misattribute traits to her. For one, if STDs were seriously going to be a thing In this fictional work, it would’ve been brought up. Second, she actually is serious about the engagement and reflects on her past.

This is a relatively serious romantic comedy of a girl who was... more>> sexually free and a dude who has to deal with that. Even then, it’s not like the girl is a mega S L U T. She has valid reasons in that she would rather be in control of her body’s first time rather than get paired up with a stranger in what she assumed to be a long term marriage (even note she held back on actual romance and virg*ns to avoid hurting other guys). That she’s has near 100 bodies indeed loses weight when you see her mentality and also that most couples will have also surpassed 100 copulations. Obviously in reality you wouldn’t know if her mentality as she says is the truth, but again, this is anime/fiction, so him accepting her isn’t that big of a deal if she’s not going to cheat, which her personality isn’t even that much of a b*tch, and if anything, he was the one placing a bit too much distance in apathy and being harsh, which is why he’s the one who consistently apologizes in these early interactions.

His original methods of keeping her at a distance were fine and acceptable and I approve, but complaining about accepting her AFTER he gets to know her is pretty smolbrain, to say the least. In the first place, it’s not as if he ever hated her or discriminated against her s*xual past, he literally just thought it was too troublesome.

On her end, it’s not like she’s actually forcing the MC to do anything. If you pay attention, he’s actually the one with all the power in the this “relationship”. He doesn’t actually believe anything horrible will happen to her, and he can end the engagement at any moment. He’s the one going on dates with her out of his own free will, and he actually enjoys it

Little did people complaining remember, but even promiscuous people are human too, therefore they have feelings and even standards. If we ain’t virg*n shaming a dude who has near zero female contact on a regular basis and is overly harsh to females (which is the reason he’s not popular), no point in sl*t shaming a girl who’s actually pretty well adjusted in comparison to the dude who, if you pay attention to his thoughts, is actually really carefree and apathetic and goes with the flow. So him getting with her was natural as he gets to know her real self and intentions. <<less

I fully sympathize with the reviewers who gave this five star or otherwise high ratings, and agree that the criticisms simply based on chapter 1 are unwarranted. Indeed, this series was a bit original and had quite a lot of potential - if the series continued on as it started for the first 8 or so chapters, I would have similarly given it a 5 start review. However, the problem with the series is not the FL or her history - that is what offers both the comedy and dramatic... more>> tension. Rather, the problem the ML and his actions in the later chapters.

Spoiler

Unfortunately, he turns into a sap. Had the story developed where he stuck to his guns in rejecting the FL, with some continued dramatic tension, a counterpoint FL, etc. This could really have been worth reading. Instead, chapters 11 and 12 just killed the series for me - I haven't been able to get past them.

[collapse]

I also don't want to discourage the translator - they are doing a solid job and I can see why they took on this series. Heck, I would have been interested in a project like this based on the start. <<less

This is a romantic comedy for adults. Nothing really outstanding in that sense. Now the premise of the female lead is the main focus of the series. In short she is a sl*t. Simply a sl*t. Wanting to escape reality she immersed herself in s*x with any man she considered "didn't want something serious" and "only wanted her for her body".

On the other hand the MC is a joke of a character. He is a virg*n with principles, not just shy and not a princess like virg*n who will squirm... more>> at the thought of touching a girl tho. The problem is he drops said principles the moment he has a chance to sleep with her.

So the plot is simple, due a debt from her family to his family she is forced to marry him. He doesn't want to because she, herself confessed to him she slept with 98 other men... yeah and she's proud of it claiming s*x feels good yadayada.

Of course he isn't okay with that. A virg*n, low self esteem when it comes to relationships inevitably will be compared to 98 other dudes..

In any case dunno what kind of cuck fantasy the author has and he decided to mix it with a LN.
Spoiler

Everything goes down the drain at chapter 11 when he finally surrendered and let her f*ck him.

[collapse]
So congrats. A pointless story about a sl*t imposing her sluttiness on a moderately decent guy.

Don't waste your time. Even if it ends up a so so way the whole story makes you reach a boiling point with him basically resembling the boyfriend character in any ntr doujin... or at least that's the impression you will feel after reading this. <<less

Yeah yeah. Another work that uses the heroine's s*x and v**ginity as bait. I don't care about her past. What I hate about her is her behavior and attitude towards herself. What the f*ck is "the meaning of falling in love"? Don't joke with me. This is not something a heroine does to protest her marriage. It's really s*upid both emotionally and rationally. Really, what she's doing is just hurting herself and the people who really love her. What happens when the male lead does not accept the female lead?... more>> Will she have the strength to stand up on her own or will she collapse from what she's done on her own and destroy herself with fleeting thoughts? Oh wait, she said she liked it. What am I doing? Naturally, going to care for a s*upid whore? This Light Novel is like a Doujin Hentai book. S*upid and illogical. All just to make readers excited only. Calling this a romantic comedy yourself? You guys are kidding me. Don't modify the concept of an entire genre by yourself. Do you think writing a story about forgiveness after letting go is a great thing? No! The male lead acts as if he is a lowly person with the attitude of a saint. This makes me think, does he have a problem with his brain or is he a living saint? Or what kind of hypocrisy is running through his veins? There is no right price to pay or error to correct both. It feels like the twist at the beginning of the story is just to make the reader curious, but it doesn't add any value to the story. It makes me feel sad for the people who are sexually abused or those who have to use their bodies to make money because of the circumstances. It's a waste of time to read a work like this. It was as if I had fallen into a terrible trap the author created. But it's so that I can criticize it fairly. If you want to read a good Romcom Light Novel, we have no shortage. And if you want to find something to relieve yourself, just get a few Doujin books to read. This is not something you should worry about. You forget it quickly after you finish it. <<less

Lmao the whole review board is just people bickering back and forth about what a woman is allowed to do

This novel is basically the standard "lame guy landed bombshell girl", except this time the girl isn't a virg*n. That's basically it. The rest of it is standad romcom with the generic engagement thing based on some old generational promise

It is, at its core, actually okay. Not exactly memorable, but interesting enough that you wanna know what's gonna happen.

The twist that she's not a virg*n is cleverly woven into the... more>> story as an overarching theme that stays in the back of MC's mind, and it's a good shake against the basic romcom recipe, even if it's not a strong shake. It provides a good source of problem to tackle and discussions to be had regarding the importance of v**ginity.

The nice thing about this novel is that it's basically really just about the 2 protagonists. There are no supporting characters to remember, no world building either. In fact, most of the "big events" like family dinner were skipped straight to them talking about it, almost the entire novel is just them talking to each other, and I actually like it, plenty of romcoms try to over explain things that don't matter

The low ratings this novel gets are basically people unable to accept that "sluts" as they call them are human and can change, that and people unable to accept that a male-female relationship doesn't have to end with male on the top.

The high ratings, on the other hand, are given to counter those low ratings

Thus we accidentally arrive at this novel's true rating: mediocre. Even disregarding the s*x scenes (of whic there aren't that many), this isn't really a novel you'd go and recommend to people. It's not the kind of novel that you need to hide sure but it's not the kind of novel you'd remember long after you've read it either <<less

the word "she's belong to the street" are not exaggerated but at the same time lil bit wrong.

Kinda understand why Tsukasa was so pressured by her engagement. it would be stressful to know you are engaged by someone you don't know. but that's not justify the way she have done to herself.

you know that there's other way to forget about your stress, rather than sell your body for free. right?

In my opinion Tsukasa have lower value about herself. Easily throw away her body for a night just to forget about... more>> her stress is just another case of nymphomaniac stages. another reason that she want to be pampered like a queen on the bed are just make it worse. she's not even from a home without a father figure background, why she want to be pampered just because she stressed out about her engagement? the most logical route is for Tsukasa to get herself a boyfriend as a form of her rebellion. the way she thrown herself into noncommittal fling are just degrade Tsukasa character as smart girl. it makes her looks st*pid and pitiful.

and her ego is as big as her chest. instead of caring about how Iori feels, she just straight away pushing her ideals on him while being narcissistic. justifying her past deed as if it's not problem, ignoring the burden that Iori felt as he involved deeper into Tsukasa life.

the inferiority that a man (without experience) who attracted to a girl for the first time felt, knowing that those very girl body have been tasted by other unknown man. Tsukasa are not even once consider about it. *please think about how iori felt for f*ck sakes.

she's indeed feeling regret, but still it's like world revolving around her. such unrealistic frame of mind are turned me off.

as for Iori... he's a straight man, but he's just another lion whose tamed by an empress. love is blind allright, I get that.

as for author (my self opinion) : man are quite territorial creatures too if only the author know. such situation like Iori will never happen. no one as forgiving as Iori. except if it's just another relationship like Tsukasa have done. it'll just revolving around that, and you will not moving on until you close the lid (dark past) That's why in manhwa (18+) plot. for a man in attempt to forget about his inferiority, they most likely find other girl either as meant to moving on, or they do it to get even, or they will snuff out the competitor.

The redeeming point about this LN is the comedy and the conversation are flowing nicely. there's no "mind reading" conversation that put others into pitiful state. Iori have decent fight in conversation, but his lack of interaction with lot's of people make him only go halfway to beat Tsukasa (lol)

they're funny couple. one st*pid girl vs a vrgin dull guy. it's fun to see them. <<less

The distribution of the ratings for this novel is actually so funny. 90% of the ratings are on 1 & 5 stars so obviously the reactions to this novel are really polarizing. I don't really like Japanese boy-girl romcoms, (because they're usually all same-y and have an unappealing writing style) but because of the reviews I had to read this.

After reading the first couple of chapters, I can safely say the protagonists are cute together and fit well in the stereotypical Japanese romcom novel way. Affair tag seems to... more>> be worthless and misleading, because you can just tell the female lead isn't ever going to cheat on the protagonist after reading a couple chapters. The one star reviews really are just due to the dicks she had prior. Well, to each their own. Some just can't stand non virg*n/pure female leads. I personally can't stand the writing style and the style of the novel in general. It's too cheery and worriless, too many onomatopoias and dialogues. Too Japanese romcom-y. Damn do I dislike Japanese romcom novels. <<less

I usually don´t write reviews but I felt compelled to after seeing the abyssal rating of this novel which solely stems from the FL not beeing a virg*n or normal in s*xual relationships.

Straight out: FL´s a b*tch! And it is hilarious!

She slept with an almost unreal amount of different partners to the point where I really couldn´t take it seriously at all. All the while she is a rich miss, so her values are somewhat screwed from the very beginning + she is also a little naive/dumb? Don´t get me... more>> wrong, there definitly might be a few woman out there who had interc**rse with just as many partners without it beeing their job for sure. However it is still rare enough that it is still amazing to the point where all you can do is laugh of the sheer absurdity of it. It is in the same way I see almost every harem novel out there (normal and reverse) where the MC reigns supreme over an huge, unrealistic and often absolute bland harem.

The novel really shines from the interaction between MC and FL, it is well written and the comedy is just about right without it making the MC or the FL a douchebag from their jokes. The MC is very much against the relationship between himself and the FL at the beginning. However, he relents as he is enjoying his interaction with her and also because he is feeling a small amount of... pity? guilt?

Make no mistake however in that he still is at the point where he would rather call the relationship off, making him effectively the dominant one in the relationship. So far the MC isn´t taking any injust treatment as well all the while treating the FL in the same way that he isn´t forcing her to do some crazy stuff.

I also feared for a short time that the MC might try to put FL in a s*ave like position as FL comes on aggressively to him with various crazy proposals but thankfully he kept his cool so far and isn´t going mad like some other MCs out there which is making him effectively a rather cool (headed) guy.

The translation is well done and has no trouble in grammar, flow or consistency of quality making this effectively a very enjoyable read after my last few mtl sessions.

The story is still at the very start. As such I will not rate it as I am still missing out what the affair tag will be about (i don´t like affairs but who does really?) (I just realized that the affair tag might be there for the rumors that the FL was the third wheel in a relationship at some point which is unconfirmed and at least by herself denied) or how the story in general will turn out. As this is a R18 novel there will definitely be s*x scenes and more mature content but right at this point in the story I cannot jugde that either as it didn´t appear so far.

My final verdict of this novel? Obviously undecided, it is still far to soon.

If you like a mature romcom and you are not an incel or someone who can only accept FLs that are boringly normal/s*avelike/virg*ns then this right here might me worth giving a try. Albeit the strong lack of content right now might later on bite back massively, for now it is fun short read.

edit: Finally got around to finish this one, I am to be honest a little disappointed since the story loses a lot of steam after they go out together but I guess that was forseeable. At the end he was also tested in his belief in her but that honestly felt a little meh at this point. An honest and good review would be from @Raestloz in regards to the story.

I will give it an honest 3/5, as it´s neither really good or bad in the end. <<less

This has the same underlying premise as almost every male-targeted anime romcom on this site. The male protagonist thinks of himself as boring/average/unremarkable possibly due to undiagnosed depression, and has no romantic or s*xual experience. Suddenly, through contrived circumstances that he in no way brought about, a hot chick comes around that is super devoted to him and wants to jump his bones twelve times a day, and they're engaged.

The twist, there to distinguish it from the other thousands of novels with this frame: she's had s*x before, with other... more>> men. Dozens of times.

It's not much of a twist. Besides being described outright in the summary, within the novel she is extremely upfront about it. She explains it immediately, as well as her reasoning for doing so, which is slightly more complicated than "s*x is fun". In fact she goes over the top in an anime kind of way to try to convince the ML that she's devoted to him. All the s*x she had was one night stands, so she has zero previous romantic entanglements and the ML has no love rivals. The conflict is not secrecy but rather the MC trying to resist the woman because he thinks she's icky for reasons he fails to articulate or understand very quickly.

He is, honestly, kind of too mean about it, but what makes up for that and sets this novel apart from far too many romcoms is that the catty back and forths he has with her demonstrate that they actually enjoy each other's company. Rather than staying together because of destiny or their s*upid parents or whatever the f*ck contrivance, they just actually like hanging out. He realizes that he actually does like her as a friend, in addition to thinking she's a babe, and she's all set to have a romantic relationship right off the bat because in her view he does have actual positive personality traits and an attractive appearance despite the fundamental premise I mentioned. Frankly it's a low bar, but often lacking in these kinds of novels. How many of these have you read, really, where you can imagine the main couple cuddling up and talking about nothing for a couple hours? This is one.

At the point to which I have read, the ML has managed to actually express his problems with her s*xual history beyond making sarcastic remarks, they have talked it over, and now they've started going out and f*cking like rabbits (I am not going to pretend this is a spoiler, c'mon, how else is a novel like this going to go). I am curious to see where this change in relationship takes this novel next.

PS readers giving this one star because the FL's "a slut": This is p*rn for straight men. The FL is designed to be attractive, extremely h**ny for the ML, and good at s*x. She makes clear basically immediately that the ML is the only person she has ever been interested in romantically and that she really does not want to leave the ML. She's rich and hot. She hits on him constantly and aggressively. These are all traits she has been designed with to make the ML's situation appealing to you. If you're not into that - that's cool. You don't have to be. But making out like this character is morally decrepit is silly. She is a fantasy; possibly not yours, but someone's.

PPS, 98 s*xual partners being "unreal": that's like one a week for two years. She hasn't had any actual lengthy relationships, so it's not like each ho*kup takes that long, and she was explicitly going for one-offs rather than wanting lengthier relationships that would be more time consuming to arrange. She even does the math in the story. She's certainly an outlier, but there are plenty of real people who f*ck that much. You can find some pretty funny graphs of this if you google for em. <<less

It is not a masterpiece but I definietely did not deserve 2.4. This is a 3.5-4 of 5 story. The main reason why people hate this story is because the FMC and I guess her not being like Runa from Our Dating Story.

I.e.

Spoiler

Both Runa and Tsukasa are experienced girls. Runa was someone who accumulated her s*x experience by being taking advantage of scumbags, whereas Tsukasa was just fooling around. She did it with 90+ people it seems but had some standards, such as not going after virg*n to not play with their feelings and also not steal taken people..

[collapse]

The MC might feel like your typical beta male MC as he rejects all of Tsukasa's advances but if you think about it, everything he does makes sense

Spoiler

He rejects Tsukasa clearly, always saying he'd break off this engagement but gradually, he learns more about Tsukasa and accepts the idea of letting her move forward and better herself as a person. At the last moment, he was still afraid to have s*x with her but not because he's a beta but because she had already done it with 90+ people. I think it's a valid reaosn to be scared to enter the next stage when confronted with such situation. Inferiority complex makes a lot of sense here....

[collapse]

In general, this is a mix of this "suddenly engaged" stories + "heroine is a tainted and not pure beauty" story. There are only two main characters, not much dialogue from the outside except around the end.

Spoiler

Actually, he visited her home during tanabata but that whole scene was just glossed over, so we never saw a scene with him interacting with her family members except her grandmother...

[collapse]

I hope the translator continues with the novel but I would also understand if they stopped. Not because of the bad reviews but because they complained quite often about how difficult it was to translate some parts.

All in all, I still reccomend reading this story if you like romcoms with not too much drama. This could be easily be over with just one volume as well. <<less

A good novel (if you read it without feeling and emotion)

It's too difficult to describe this novel, starting with the wishy-washy MC, to fMC who doesn't think about the MC's feelings,

So from that I say this is a good novel if read without using feelings and emotions

Because if you use these two things, you will find various mistakes in the novel

Not to mention she had s*x with just bout anyone cause she was scared of her "potential prince ugly man" but as soon as she sees that the... more>> guy in question is actually a pretty decent catch she jumps on him despite him refusing her multiple times because of her past actions.

I m not saying high body is tolerable when it comes to men cause I fs know some people will raise this question when they see my comment infact I think high body count is intolerable no matter the gender and even more so when a guy like the MC is clearly a virg*n and has high moral grounds but somehow gets turned a mew leaf by the author. 0/10 <<less
