ML is kinda nutty after his 1st life. And he straight away refuses psych treatment or counselling in the 2nd life. He is happy to be a crazy yandere-ish, grumpy and a little mean gong to the bullied and poor shou. He is domineering, cannot tolerate MC out of his sight and talking to anyone else. He does his best to make sure MC is alone in the world (MC's family are abusive creeps so that wasn't an issue at all), entire school knows MC is gay and since it's... more>> set in early 2000s the h*mophobia is evident with the school children so he is isolated.

If u can't tolerate a hero like this, back off. ML makes most major decisions (including choosing colleges) for MC. You have been warned. Don't read if u can't tolerate this sort of yandere shit.

MC is smart but a poor little boi. He feels he is never good enough. He does improve his mindset later as he starts going to college and building his own profession (he is a vet!!!!!). But he is madly in love with ML and happily and willingly obedient to him. Imo, MC with his blind obedience and ML with his crazy domineering ways are actually made for each other. MC doesn't feel the need to assert his independence. He is quite happy to just be around ML as long as he can see him.

I think the romance is not toxic despite the characters because of this.

Additional pros-

1) ML mom who loves ML, accepts his sudden rebirth story and even ML's love for MC despite being unsure. She is open-minded and doesn't give a f*ck who ML's partner is as long as ML is happy

2) She publicly announces MC is her god-son (adopted him too) to protect him from unsavory rumours

3) ML's dad comes off as a bastard in the beginning but is not as much a bad guy by the end of the book. Of course there is no chance of reconciliation but he is certainly not a dumb villain. He manages to wise up.

4) Villains - Jealousy is the only reason for their existence.

Overall - It's fluffy in a cracked up way lol.

My previous review before finishing this:

Spoiler

Not finished yet, but giving it five stars as the author is Juejue and I believe this author will not disappoint me (as I follow most of the author's works that already or currently being translated).

Thank you for the kind translator for picking up this novel.

The two chapters do make me wonder where the story will be going and how the MC and ML relationships develop. Even if this novel take the usual route, I wonder how the author narrated it as most of the author's works are sweet and fluffy.

Looking forward to next chapters!! ><

[collapse]

I stand by my word that Jue Jue doesn't disappoint me. Just what will you expect from this author and this kind of trope. I wouldn't say this novel is a masterpiece, but it's indeed very enjoyable for me.

The MC is the gong, while the ML is the shou. From the first chapter you know that the gong have anger issues and treat shou like shit, well fortunately only at the beginning. And I could see why he was like that, for someone who almost never suffered growing up, but suddenly being betrayed by people he loved and "abandoned" by his only relative, his insecurity and anger is well explained. Not that I agree to his behaviour and how he treat the shou in the past life.

Yes, both of them need to see psychologist or psychiatrist. They both have psychological issues that need to be resolved. Well, in the end this is fiction and can be allowed in fiction. I don't judge this novel based on my moral ground for reality, so yeah I like the MC and ML relationships actually. But, if this happened in reality, this kind of relationship is not healthy. This novel really satistfy the reason why I love reading fiction haha.

Although I said that their relationship is not healthy, it doesn't mean this novel full of dog blood. On the contrary, this novel is very sweet. The gong is a vinegar jar and very insecure. He wants to control the shou's life, but eventually he realized that his behaviour could make their relationship worst instead, so he tried to change little by little. He tried to compromise and the shou himself accomodate it willingly. And what I like the most is that the gong openly communicates his stalking and controlling behaviour to the shou. Both of them are very insecure people and in this way they could be sure of each other's feeling.

I want to rant a little though:

Spoiler

OMG, I couldn't forgive MC's father for the sake of whatever. I am very disappointed on him. Yes, in the current life he doesn't do anything, but that because the MC rebirth. In the past life how could he let his son, only son, become that miserable? He doesn't know how his son doing and just went have a retirement life with his sister-in-law? hahaha what a slag! Good thing that Qian Mo finally divorcing him, this kind of man hah. He wants to prove himself and because of that his wife and son should accomodate it? pay for his guilt? wtf.

Yes, I agree that he is a good man, but really I couldn't forgive him. This kind of slag is what you often meet in real life.

[collapse]

Overall, I really enjoyed this. The MC and ML is very sweet although in different kind of sense haha. The MC pamper the ML in his own twisted way haha. And I think the ML needs that for him to really feel secure in their relationship.

Spoiler

I really love it when the ML actually have some kind of vision or you could say remember the past life. Though, unlike MC, he thought it was just a weird dream.

[collapse]

Do I recommend this novel? I don't know? I really like and enjoyed this novel, in the latter part the MC treats ML much much better, so... I will recommend to read the first 20-30 chapters or so first to see if you can tolerate their dynamic. <<less

I found this novel through recommendation reading list on certain app.

Beware! Spoiler ahead!

The MC here is yandere, not the kind of borderline yandere because he still aware of his surrounding though he still possessive.

... more>> The ML has a weak personality at first. It's because of his upbringing. His mother is too stingy and always blamed him. But don't worry he will grow a backbone though he still soft.

What I like from this novel is how this novel addressed about men body being not suitable for spring night activity (as in shou). The MC placed importance to their night life, that's why he emphasised on maintenance and being gentle and toughtful. As fujoshi, I've read novels and mangas about seme and uke being too indulgent to the point it felt unbelievable. That's why I felt refreshed. Usually I read about the seme being too engrossed with the activity or just both of them is too passionate. I enjoyed them but I also longed for something where the pair knows moderation.

Another thing that I like is the conclusion of the characters that went against the MC and ML. Through out my reading I expected that MC will counterattack ruthlessly but not really. The MC still know mercy. Except from the main antagonist that was thrown to jail and left with no way out, the other side villain still has their own ending. For example, Li Shuyun, she's a bad mother but at least she still went against her family to protect her son though it didn't do much. She got character development and live happily without anyone leeching off on her. Li Wen went to jail but he got compensated for helping MC and ML at the last moment. There are also villain that didn't have good ending. I still want to know what happen to Han Shen though.

One last thing. Different from other novel where the MC get together because the ML liked him or do something that makes them noticeable (ex. Sacrificing oneself), this novel has reasonable plot of how the MC get together with ML. They spend fifteen years together in the last life!

In short, this novel may have shortcomings but I would still read it when it was fully translated. Please give this novel a chance. <<less

Sometimes in some stories, I hope the reborn person wasn’t the MC but someone else. This story is one of them. I want the reborn person to be the MC dad. I think it would be more interesting to see him trying to make up for his family. Even though I wanted to hit him so many times but I know he’s not a bad person. Actually, I feel he was very good given the circumstances. He was loyal and kind. I feel everything wasn’t his fault alone but his... more>> wife too. It’s normal to love, care for, and trust someone you raise yourself. But he and his wife were very abnormal. Didn’t they ever find their relationship abnormal? Can you even call it a family without living together? How come they let their son grow up without a father like this? To be honest, if I had a husband who did this, I would never agree with this. How could I let him raise other people's children and leave his son like this? It’s either he comes back or divorces there’s no other option. This life is no different from divorce anyway.

About the MC. I liked him very much. I mean the teen him. He was sunny, smart, and a gentleman. I can’t help but imagine him before everything happened to him. He was a very good man. What he became after he was reborn was normal given his circumstances. He is possessive. But I like who he, the ml, and everyone around them know this is wrong. The MC tried to make himself better over time.

the ML I really pity him. He has a very tr*sh life.

this novel was good but not the best. It’s enough to keep me reading it. <<less

Oh my God, give me a f*cking break! I'm so annoyed with the ML!!!!!!!!

Yes, I do admit that he helped the MC in their previous life, but for f*cks sake he keeps annoying the sh*t out of me.

I don't even know why I hate him, maybe because he was soooo inferior, sooo submissive that I disliked him so much, I feel like I wanted to skin him alive and eat his bones, but I still read the book because of the MC.

I don't care if the MC has an... more>> unstable personality, he is a smart, top-tier hacker, and the gong protagonist on top of that.

So even though Im dissatisfied with his "love pair", I still read the book, since I am invested in the story and wanted to know how he would slap his enemy's faces later on.

But if I were to wish something, that would be to change the ML.

f*cking lord of God I despise that guy so much.

Still vote 5/5 tho ✌️ <<less

The only thing that made this different than the rest same theme novel was the fact he told his mother of his rebirth. It was a surprise for me. Also, it was a bit nice to see that the author touched the issue of ptsd (should be ptsd imo) and made few characters to see and point how wrong Han ChongYuan attitude to Meng En. Because I was so damn annoyed and disturbed by it. He was getting better and Meng En himself wanted that tho he also improved himself... more>> and not be so timid and he could say what he wanted. <<less
