When a futuristic scientist is transported into the body of a young man in a fantasy world, his curiosity and desire for power push him to pursue magic. In a world without mercy, Leylin has no qualms about doing anything if it means benefits. He is cold, ruthless and calculating, never forming attachments that could impede his ultimate goal…

Honor? Who needs that… Hmmm… that guy seems too powerful for me to take on now… I better keep a low profile for now.

You want me to help you? What do I get out of it? Nothing? Bye.

Hmm… that guy looks like he might cause me problems in the future. Better kill him before he becomes a problem…

I am just going t say this out right.

This is a Harry Potter / Cultivation novel. We play with spells instead of the old style cultivation skills..

Look just how many times the surname Potter has been used!, there's Malfroy, Ginny, Sirus, Ron, even bloody Longbottom!
Spoiler

Longbottom was even a freaking cannon villain

[collapse]

You will watch MC level up by hook or crook. That's it really you will be entertain by his schemes and you don't have to care about any other characters because they are not important.

MC ahh refreshing to a point, he hold many qualities that other MC should've really learn from.
    1. When YOU wants some skin to skin pleasure just GO FOR IT, no feelings attached, Just *** and go, you can help out those girls along the way but doesn't need to invest emotions, no strings attached MC is the man. Biggest respect here go to MC and his bed skills. Carries no burden and take pleasure and he needs it. Not even forcing them.
2. MC is so calm and calculating in every situation, it's not rush in hot headed, it's done with calculations on the Success rate of his actions. He will bow when needs to on pretense. He will always remember his enemies and make sure to pay them back and he will never lose.

3. Don't pity the weak!,

he never cares for the weak as MC should be doing. Survival of the fitness, you help them once then what? Help them every time in the future? MC would even join the bullies group to get what ever benefits he should. He doesn't ostracize the weak but he just doesn't care! Focus on your damn self be selfish.

4. Benefits come first, I watch other MCs throw away benefits for god know all the wrong reasons. This is why I love the MC for his actions for the sake of benefits. I ain't doing jack for charity. Kindness can be beneficial then why not but if it's wasted why the hell do it.

5. MC is evil by nature, but he's not evil just for the sake of being evil. There's reasons for his actions I appreciate that even more. Like Fang Yuan.

6. MC also has the patience like no other, he can really wait till the right moment. You know when you are sick of dumb rush in mistakes by other MCs you really appreciate this aspect.

The latter part of the novel disappointed me with the direction it went so I took a star off.

This novel is a great choice, I was recommend to read something similar to Reverend Insanity and I wasn't disappointed.

Exclamation! Marks! Everywhere!

MC has tags Cold-hearted! Cool! Calm! Calculative! And all the tags I enjoy! In a protagonist! But! He! Is! An! Idiot! Constantly relying on his golden finger AI Chip! The MC is not cool! The chip is cool! The MC is a Living! Garbage! Waste of space! Who can't do anything without! The! Chip!

Seriously speaking, this is genuinely terrible and I imagine this is just the authors power fantasy of having a cool AI chip do all the work while he brainlessly ***** and imp**gnates side character girls... more>> who are never even named. Also: it's really neat that they gave him a super smart scientist background and then made him a brain-dead idiot who can't do anything but rely on the AI chip. <<less

I won't recommend it to anyone. It has plotholes after plotholes after plotholes after plotholes. The author says one thing in one chapter and says a completely opposite thing in the next chapter. The plot is also not that great. MC will suddenly feel like something is going to happen in the place he is staying, but actually the author doesn't tell what led MC to come to that conclusion. He always goes like "I feel like something is wrong. It's like a war is coming". And this happens in... more>> evey f*cking arc. Yeah, every place he goes, there will definitely be a war, like what the hell!?

He also gets stronger by himself in the background. And then he will fight someone and then he'll go "Oh, AI chip has created this new move that seems pretty strong, lemme check it out". Yeah so he keeps up coming with new moves but we don't get told how all that came to be. It's just the AI chip doing calculations in the background.

And let's not forget the male chauvinism that has filled the entire novel. Oh, girls want to go to bed with him everywhere. They want to have his baby. They hit on him all the time. Females are really shown to only care about things like —sleep with a powerful guy, have a baby with a powerful guy, etc. And most of the males are also f*cking pe*verts throughout the novel. They will always have female s*aves wearing scantily serving them most of the time. Ugh.

MC is supposed to be a scientist in his previous life, but he doesn't act like one. He actually acts like your average person from a long-standing noble family and nothing more.

After reading books like My House of Horrors, Reverend Insanity, and Lord of the Mysteries, other books seem really lacking in every aspect. And this book seems really really lacking everywhere. <<less

Just finished the novel. It has fit my preference of the evil MC incredibly. MC stays true to his character and to himself. This is a novel that you cant read via a recommendation, you really have to seek it out to enjoy. Almost no dull moments with most things coming full circle. The ending is also very good, and if you really paid attention you could even predict the outcome, something rare in most of the similar novels I've read. Thank you author and to anyone who is hesitant... more>> to pick up the novel, just do it. Read it with no expectations and you will enjoy it.

Also I would like to add a spoiler to those who want a taste of his evilness:

Spoiler

MC basically creates his own white knight story within the novel for his amus**ent. Its fantastic with its culmination being incredible. Just wanted to vent a bit without providing too much info. Also don't seek spoilers if you have yet to read this novel, I promise you it wont make it better.

His kill count is also in the billions... (maybe even trillions who knows)

I've finished reading it and it's the best of the best.

I would like to clarify something the MC does not have much character development but every situation shows light on his complex character.

He had s*x with countless women. But only got married to two.

... more>> His actions are for benefit. He never takes risk without assessing the corresponding benefit. The AI job is simply to analyse, control and to scan and increase his precision.

It does not draw conclusions based on things he does not know.

Eg. Creating a new cultivation technique. If MC does not have enough data base it is almost impossible. Almost cause anything is possible.

2. The ai searches his mind for the problem and mc's possible solutions and deduces the one with the highest success rate.

He is a hypocrite who does things simply to be able to sleep at night.

He is an alchemist who makes potions. He made a potion it's name I'm not too sure but 'tears of mary' is in my head. He took all the criminals in the prison tortured them physically when they died he tortured their souls. After drinking it he shed a tear due to the greviences.

He change his race severally but still the snake race. Became a god at some point half of his soul though. Is a noble in all his gestures.

Became devilishly handsome slowly though his race. Black hair black as deep as the abyss due to race ability and strong soul later on looking into his eyes too long can make anyone lose their mind.

He can be anything pretend to be anything cold blooded like a snake.

Scheming, deceptive, rational.

Can stay 100% rational even at the countdown of his death for higher success rate.

Great guy. Doesn't really r*pe only evil to bad people. Everyone is evil willing to do anything to achieve their goals but he is willing to calculate. People come and go at every turn just to through light on his character.

Pretty generic and everything is done by the AI chip, almost like how I used google and duck duck go in my online semester (and am suffering now) , the MC does not have much skills other than the AI.

And idk if its the translator or the author but the overwhelming no. Of exclamation marks makes the tone a bit awkward when imagining them talk in your head.

Even after reading the reviews, I decided to give this story a try. Pushing past all the overused exclamation points, I read fifty chapters before I couldn't force myself to keep reading. This story may as well be called "Adventures of an Isekai chip and its parasitic meat puppet companion", since the putative MC is useless without his chip. "AI Chip! Calculate the optimum way to win this fight!" "AI Chip! Scan the nearest five kilometer radius (HOW?!) for threats!" "AI Chip! Teach me to do magic better than experienced... more>> mages!" "AI Chip! Find my personality! AI Chip? Are you there, AI Chip?!"

Basically, he accomplishes absolutely nothing without depending on his "AI Chip" (which is neither an AI nor a chip, but has All The Cheat Codes!), and that makes the story feel pointless. I know, I know, every Chinese protagonist has their cheat code, and that's fine, but I want to read about someone whose cheat code helps them be a half step ahead of their competitors, not a story where the cheat code does all the work and the MC just flops along uselessly behind it. Eyes that can see magic, dual cultivation or elements, a special breathing technique, a magical item that helps their cultivation speed, something like that is interesting. An AI chip that takes all the work out of the story also takes all the magic and excitement out of the story.

On top of all that, the story is very linear and predictable. MC tries something and barely fails. Then MC asks the AI chip to do something slightly different or new, and then he succeeds. There's nothing in between. Every obstacle is overcome in a chapter or two, and even the chapter names reveal how linear this is, with, for example "Starting attempts" where he fails to make a potion, followed directly by "Successful potion brewing". It takes about 1000 words to go from a failure to a success. Everything in this story feels cheap and unearned because the AI chip does most of the work, and because success is so easy and quick. The only obstacle the MC has is not APPEARING to be too successful, so even though he succeeds at everything without any effort he pretends to be a failure, which is far more frustrating to read than someone who actually does fail, and earn their success.

I know that 50 chapters isn't much in a Chinese story, and that this one is shorter than the norm at only 1200 total chapters. But 50 chapters IS enough for me to know what this story is about, how it's written, who the MC is, and how the general format works, and I hate it all. I don't mind that Leylin is self-centered or even evil. I mind that he's boring, and that the writing style is about as exciting as reading a lawnmower's user manual. For someone ELSE's lawnmower. <<less

One doesn't have to write a great novel, when they can simply plagiarize blatantly from an existing one and get away with it.

Not sure if all the people rating this so highly heard of The Wizard World, but...

Plot? Same.
Opening Scene? More or less same. (Trying to woo girl and getting ass whoop for it)
Stat System? Same.
AI Chip? Same.
Character Background? Same.
Ring type? Same. (Haste ring)
Learning to be Alchemist? (Different routes, but they both study alchemy all the same.)
Reason to Leave School?... more>> (More or less same.)
Characters? Personality wise somewhat different. One appears to be a psychopath, wuxia honey badger killing everything and the other is more reserve and rational. I'll let you decide who is who from the novels.

Also the MC of this novel relies more on his chip. Like. Basically he has the chip hold his d*** for him even in fight scenes. Angele in TWW didn't even rely on the chip that much, besides potion brewing. He didn't use chip to telegraph everything like Leylin in this novel is doing. But hey, if that is your thing read on in this novel.

Might be many other similarities I overlook, I just stopped reading after the school arc of this vomit fess.

Really, when I started to read this, I had a feeling of Dejavu. Then after later checking, yea... This is a water down TWW novel.

But hey, I guess with an author name like The Plagiarist they have to live up to it somehow. You can also find full The Wizard World on another site, just google for it (The Wizard World full) as I don't know the 'rules' for advertising another host site carrying the complete novel. TWW is basically completed at this point. I just find it amazing how a stolen clone on here is rated higher than the original that it rip material from and how this site only hosts a few of TWW chapters. Funny really. <<less

Hope you like exclamation points!

Author overuses them to the point of being in every or every other sentence! It makes this actually worse than a machine translation for native English speakers!

Every! Character! Talks! Like! This!

This! Is! The! Only! Personality! Any! Of! The! Characters! Have!

Worldbuilding is not very well thought out at all! Author is clearly making sh*t up as he goes along after chapter 80!

Novel suffers the same issue most Xianxia do with 50-75% of chapters being recap heavy and redundant after the 100 mark!

I found this novel to be phenomenal.

The "worldbuilding" is very well thought out, for once you don't have the feeling that the author is putting togheter scraps depending on what he will need the for the next chapter. The worldbuilding and the various plots are ofetn correlated both in the short term and across story arcs, giving the sensation of reading an actual book than a simple webnovel full of overused tropes and lacking in delivery.

The MC powerleveling has an actual good explanation which allows him to distinguish himself from... more>> the rest, and it isn't overly pushed, giving rise to a loss of credibility for the worldbuilding already done.

The driving factors that push individuals to behave in the way they do is very clear, and is even explained for less important side characters. This is done once again without recurring every time to the same tropes, making the reader interested and invested in the characters and their actions and success or failure.

  • The MC is extremely cynical, in case you aren't in for that this novel might be less appealing, but this point shouldn't influence an objective view of the work itself.

Around 800 to 1000 chapters I dropped by the third/last time. Idk how my review on this novel still gets... lost.

So i'll just copy-paste the review I made at WW, as it deservers:

How long did I enter in a coma, sleeping, closed my eyes... well I just mean to s-*sounds of a body falling over and over down the long ass stairs* zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Evil? More like coward. Powerful? More like when the writing says syo. Intelligent? The AI Chip, then sure. Cautios? More like everyone-else-but-me-have-brains-or-the-necessary-intelligence-to-suspect-at-all-over-and-over-and-over pattern of the whooooooooooole story. Awesome... more>> MC? MC that doesn't do things 'for free'? More like repeat all of the above.

Basically an 'i do this, when they exactly wrongly do this' and that is the plot, is not like Er Gen's novels where his mc's by fokin slight silver of luck are able to escape mortal dead ass trap, no, is just: "Now, I kill MC." But then; "You kno wot, i'll be zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz" -"Ow sh*t how did he escaped and how did he injured m- oh look I once again do nothing."

But then again, have I mentioned how tr*sh character/MC this one is? A.I. Chip with one of those dumb silly japanese titles of a protagonist would've been so damn greater.

Also, for a different from heroic and righteous MC, this sh*t ain't poopoo to Wang Lin, like hella no señor. <<less

A wholesome book to pass away time. No extra repetitive lines added to increase word count. Clear translation.

    • MC is clearheaded, smart, Is OP, but he constantly improves, works hard to become OP.
    • MC is very practical, self aware of what he needs, is selfish to the core but has his moments of being a good person.
    • MC puts his goal of eternity above all and never once did he forget that goal. I applaud his persistence.
    • All other characters add good value to the story and don't simply exist to pave way for our MC.
    • I greatly appreciate the fact that ranking system and world building is simple to understand and remember and plot armour is not so evident.
It's a good read.

Well I have read this novel more than a year ago but I still can't find anything better than WMW. If I have to say what is good about this novel it is definitely main character - Leylin. I love that he is calm and collected, I can't say that he is 100% evil just because he is not. He may kill a person without any regret if it benefits him however he still cares about people that he considers close to him and if they may be killed he... more>> WILL try to save them BUT if his life is on the stake he will just become more powerful and get revenge when he sees the opportunity. However it is important to understand that even if it may seem like he is close to someone it doesn't mean that they are close. For example there was a time he was helping someone that didn't seem reasonable (no benefit) and then used them and eventually put an end to them because he wasn't planning to befriend them from the very beginning. The thing that think is the best that he is not a villan he is just selfish and determined because in a novel you will see a lot of times when he saved someone but there has to be one condition - it can't be too complicated to do. Through if we look at it through different perspective he has taken hundred thousands of life's and even destroyed a few world's but to be honest with you, I don't care as long as he don't kill or betray people he cherished I am pretty much okay with it.

Note: there are a lot more positive points I didn't said (I just like Leylin too much) like huge variety of different characters that really feels like humans that weren't solely added for the show to continue, more that 6 completely different worlds/ dimensions, detailed and understandable power systems (but there is a variety of ways people can attain power in the novel it is just that their might can be measured by this system).

It was my first novel and it the best novel even until now.

Currently, I am reading different novel written by this author (Carefree path of dreams) and it gives similar vibes through the story and character is completely different. <<less

Quite honestly the best mage novel I've ever read. The MC is so consistent that it beggars belief. Only other place I've seen this is probably way of the devil. I really like how he isn't particularly evil but more of a selfish opportunist. As a fellow believer in the incredible selfishness of humanity, he feels more real than those white knights who are just tamed closet pe*verts. Leyton does what he wants, when he can and most importantly, if and only if he can get away with it.

Simps and... more>> overly emotional people stay away. <<less

I think that the main point in favour of this novel is that it has an ending. The second one is that such ending remains consistent with the vibe of the whole story, in a steady build up with a pretty decent conclusion.

On the other hand, that stands to say that the flaws of the novel are maintained throughout its course, and the novel is little more than a long repetition of few patterns of actions that get the protagonist to become a god-like entity. The story is undoubteedly well... more>> thought out, and the MC diligently follows the trail of unprobable coincidences that the author has prepared for him. Such coincidences are even in most cases well explained, and although the sense of deus-ex-machina is undoubtedly there, it's not overbearing. What makes it lackluster and a bit boring is the complete absence of any emotion or pathos from the MC: he has nothing to fight for, nothing he fears losing, nothing he likes or dislikes. He seems to solely exist in order to reach the "top", but with no real purpose. In order to do this he won't stop in front of anything though, as he's clearly devoid of any morality or attachment, resulting even more inhuman and boring.

The fights are cool though, and there's a lot to keep you interested enough to get to the end. <<less

TL;DR - Unless you like mu*der-hobos, just read The Wizard World, which is the OG version with less mu*der, betrayal, and ruthlessness, as well as a less OP chip. Or even just read a better non-chip based novel, such as A Sorcerer's Journey or Advent of the Archmage. Or just read the first 300 chapters, which were about 4.0 stars for me.

This novel is not for kids; its for f**king toddlers. Bloodthirsty knife-wielding toddlers to be precise. The novel's secondary MC, Leylin, will stab... more>> an entire continent just for +1 strength units. You might ask, 'Why would I ever want to support this character?', but his actions are justified because his enemies are so evil. They... uhhh... sold some s*aves or something idk. The fact is our (secondary!) MC has principles, and those principles are:

    1. Numbers must go up as fast as possible, regardless of consequences
    2. Numbers go up faster based on the number of other people you f**k over
    3. Larger numbers cannot fight lower numbers
In the beginning (up to the underground arc), he creatively uses the resources given to him, as well as his cheat (aka the true MC), to compete with others, who have better resources/talents. Even onto the bloodline shackles arc, he uses somewhat interesting schemes to get what he wants, but the enemies' collective IQ is beginning to decline. However, towards the end of the novel, his strategy becomes incomparably refined - rob dumb people to get filthy rich. After a certain point, he just starts steamrolling these continents of ancient god-wizard-kings who basically just sit there and accept this.

Reverend Insanity is another (much better) novel with a cold, clever, and calculating protagonist, so what gives? The difference is Fang Yuan actually demonstrates those characteristics within the story. He is often faced with intelligent enemies who are often his equal or greater in terms of 'numbers'. But by using his own wits and certain sacrifices, he is able to persevere on his path.

Leylin, on the other hand, beats his mentally deficient enemies by simply performing impossible tasks using his AI chip, such as analyzing the enemies' entire magic system. If that doesn't work, he just waits and absorbs a few weaklings until it does. The MC isn't clever, he just relies on a cheat to make his numbers be bigger than his opponents. The MC isn't calculating or cold-blooded, he just mu*ders/robs people to speed up a process that was already in his favor due to the AI chip. That's just psychotic.

Spoiler

Rant - He literally ascends to the extreme top of the world in like ~400 years. His final Magus comrades are all around ~40, 000 years old and they apparently weren't even that close to dying. Very rarely was he ever under any serious pressure. Furthermore, the enemies only got dumber as the novel progressed. There were plenty of cases where Leylin could have chilled out or made some allies or used his AI chip to steamroll the world's magic system, but he doesn't because of plot and the chunni aura.

1 star - purely because I know the plot is probably gonna be good even tho I haven't made it that far. If you have a working moral compass be prepared to have to close it while reading the book.

Although I really like the premise the authors depiction of women, r*pe, pedophilia and toxic standards are so disgusting and frustrating to read. The author integrates it into the story like they are normal, acceptable things. I tried to ignore it so I could enjoy the story but despite my interest... more>> in the story this just utterly killed it.

How can I care about an MC who looks at under aged women like he's waiting for cattle to mature? He also has a blasé reaction to the knowledge that his host body always had his way with women through force.

The only mention of strong women was to either call them revolting or say that 'though they were knights they studied unique paths so they still look attractive'. Even then their strength is only praised in the context of s*x.

So yeah, Im used to women being portrayed weak and simply as object of desire and I can deal with it occasionally for the sake of a good plot no matter how much I dislike it. But this is just disgusting. Its really unfortunate as I know this story is highly acclaimed and I was looking forward to reading it. Welp, time to go back to searching for hours to find a well written story and world that isn't written by someone with a broken moral compass and a twisted sense of humour. <<less

This may be the CN novel that catapults the "ruthless, amoral protagonist" genre into the stratosphere, and for good reason as well. This novel is not for the faint of heart as our protagonist, Leylin, has next to no qualms and is incredibly morally dubious by our standards. As a result, aside from Reverend Insanity, this novel might be the one which attracts the most Machiavellians and edgelords who love to lambast the "senselessly good (and possibly hypocritical) protagonist" archetype.

Leylin commits practically every sin under the sun, throwing his modern... more>> moral compass straight out the window from the inception of his transmigration. From committing s*xual assault within the first dozens of chapters to general debauchery and betrayal (mu*der too, is dished out in to small quantities), nothing is beyond our self-admitted chauvinist who prioritizes everything for himself and his benefit.

He is not totally devoid of empathetic and moral qualities, but he will only "altruistically" help people if they fulfill the criteria of "being on his side (i.e. Ally and/or subordinate) " and requiring help in something that is sufficiently insignificant enough that Leylin is hardly encumbered. Otherwise, consider yourself out of luck. As a result of these factors, the novel focuses solely on Leylin, barely touching on other characters and there is practically no growth for anyone as a result. Our charming protagonist has already maxed out his "devious" stat and requires development no more.

Now, having gone past the arduous hurdle that having a sociopath as your protagonist entails, we can get into what makes the story really quite good. First and foremost is the world-building, which is amongst the best and most expansive I've seen in CN novels, ever. At this point, some may be out to report that the setting of the book is practically ripped straight from The Wizarding World in blatant plagiarism, but at least the author himself is forthcoming in his moniker of "The Plagiarist" and this fact unto itself does nothing to detract from the development the novel itself brings. The novel itself is also arguably better than The Wizarding World in every capacity. Unfortunately, the setting is not touched upon as much as one might have wished and many interesting facets of the universe are hardly explored at all.

The second greatest asset of this novel possesses is Leylin himself, who single handedly surmounts every challenge encountered by utilizing his wit, power, and of course, AI chip to the most of his abilities. While Leylin is undoubtedly overpowered in many scenarios, he too plays the extreme underdog in many situations, making many an arc very interesting and engaging.

It is incredibly engrossing to see our protagonist act, fight, and scheme in every twist of the plot. Yes, act. Leylin, while having the capacity of being a complete amoral mu*derhobo, also has the restraint to actually act in daily life should need be instead of running around amok stealing every treasure and power in sight while having the flimsiest of disguises (if any at all). It is also refreshing to see a main character not act completely illogically and naively, contrary to many CN novels' MCs who love face-slapping young masters and bearing no consequences for their actions because you already know the sect is done for. Leylin plots and waits, and doesn't rashly do anything just for the sake of being contrarian. Yet, when he does take action, all hell breaks loose, particularly in later arcs as deities fall and the world is rended asunder.

Unfortunately, the last 200 or so chapters are rather rushed and the exciting climax of the story is a bit anti-climactic, but the overall book as a whole is one great ride from start to finish. Highly recommended if you can stomach it. 4.5/5 <<less
