Hello, translator here.

This is one of my favourite BL novels and it sadly hadn't been translated yet. I decided to pick it up. I hope I'll be able to do this novel justice.

Both the MC and ML here are very near and dear to my heart. They're deeply relatable, vulnerable sweethearts. The author has written a decently realistic depiction of depression and unrequited love here; her words often cutting deep, her descriptions meticulous.

MC first sees ML when he and his wife moves into the house opposite him. ML's wife has terminal cancer. It is love at first sight for MC but he doesn't do anything out of line. The story follows them through ML's wife's death, a brief separation and reunion and through the mental battle for ML.

I thought it was a very heart wrenching story from both perspectives. It's a rather rare first-person perspective story but I really liked it. MC is very respectful but very supportive and it adds a layer of bitterness to the story for his unrequited love.

At first I was wondering

how the story could even move forward especially with the huge loss of ML's wife who only showed up for a brief moment but had such a big impact on their lives. But the story navigated it very delicately, spanning a few years.

Mental illness is a big theme as well, especially ML's

very serious depression. I think it was well written although I'm not sure how accurate it is. The side effects of taking antidepressants are very real, especially mood changes. Even throughout this ordeal, the story also navigated how ML was dependent on MC but MC did not want this dependence to be why they get together.

There's also a small side CP that added very cute moments to the story that I enjoyed and wished had a bit more backstory.
