Villainess Wants To Turn Over A New Leaf

Lin Feilu, or better known by her nickname—Green Tea Princess, was the best of all the scheming b*tches that the world had ever seen. She was the Oscar-winning actress among the masses with real life as her stage. Acting coy, slandering, feigning innocence, or playing the saint, she aced it all. Simply put, she was the proverbial villainess.

Ah, but retribution came way too early for this malicious personage and she died on her 27th birthday.

In death, Lin Feilu reflected on her career of 20 years as the Green Tea Princess. She was full of regret and remorse over the life she once led. She vowed, if there was an afterlife, she would atone for her misdeeds and be a good person.

She transmigrated into a five-year-old princess of the Dalin Dynasty. In the name of family, she had a sickly mother disfavoured by the emperor, a mentally challenged and daft older brother.

Her life was constantly in danger, with having little to eat and trying to stay warm.

The living environment was very harsh.

Lin Feilu, who wanted to be a good person: … You forced me! Sorry, I can only activate my unique skill.

Harem fight? Striving for favor? Climbing the ranks?

Apologies, but let me show you what it means to be slaughtered by a maxed out player.

Note: “Green Tea” is a woman who presents herself as innocent, sweet, and kind but is very scheming and calculative in reality.

The synopsis said that she was a "cold" and "calculating" woman and yes, maybe at first this is how she presents herself, and this is how she cajoles all the people she meets, her brothers and sisters and her father, but As the main character's life span over the years, she changes, of course she can still cajole anyone if she wants to, but it is no longer as effective as when she first arrived, and this is Note when she finds out that her father ingests the famous pills,... more>> and she cannot convince him, when throughout the novel she says she can do anything, of course because of her own selfishness she did not intercede in the fight for the other of her brothers, And it was not until he realized that if he loved his brothers that he tries to stop them, the story itself is about Li Feinlu, I would have liked him to emphasize more on the relationship between Li Feinlu and Son Jinglian, because with him course of the narrative, there is always the emptiness of why he fell in love Li feinlu's ra, as it lacked a little more romance, I really liked how Son Jinglian's personality changes, from chivalrous to tyrant, and supee possessive, another thing that I denote, is that I like that Li feinlu being from a Modern era, he kept his modern ideals, and he did not change them just because he went to the past, and that is clearly seen when he flirts with Song Jilian, I would have liked to read his epilogue chapters, I will have to wait for the group of translators to upload it, and also thank them for translating such a beautiful story, thanks to them I read this novel <<less

This was such a good find! Ended up MTLing the rest of the novel because I was so into it. It's light hearted and funny but also heartwarming and touching. Not the greatest character development for the leads but honestly I'm ok with it. It's well written in the sense that it's quite an easy read but also touches on a few heavier topics like depression and underdeveloped mental growth (not sure what condition her brother would have specifically). It's pretty much a happy ending as well for her and... more>> her siblings, which I really do appreciate after having read webnovels with tragic endings. <<less

This is one of the best novels I have read recently.

It's more lighthearted than it sounds. I didnt expect to enjoy it this much but I really like how the MC doesn't hesitate to use her " green tea" powers for the sake of survival and protecting her families. She treats everyone around her with sincerity unlike novels of same genre.

The author has worked hard on all characters to make them have depth.

I will not say that it's not Masteriece but it's definitely one of the best novel to read.

first, I agreed what user Gabi94 said.

There isn't really any part of the novel that make me think "heh, thats cute". I actually expect more based on the novel's summary and reviews here.

The story was bland. I think it's good to read if you want to pass some times. For MC - I don't know why I just can't like her at all. I mean she just manipulating peoples around her. While I admit MC not that bad, just doing what she can do for the sake of her, her... more>> mother and older brother. I understand that but the way author wrote her make me can't really get into her at all.

I also don't really like the way she constantly address peoples as NPC or seeing them like in a game.

For ML - while I'm okay with yandere or psycho ML but with him, hm maybe I think the author failed to explain or show how the ML's turned to psycho or yandere. I thinks it's better if the author drops hints about his real personality during his time at Danlin or just plain shows that he is yandere. Nothing special about him.

That's it. For me it's just a bland novel. Not really fluff or cute. <<less

This novel is such a good read. I adore the MC and her cuteness as well as her calculative mind. I love interactions of MC and her family members.

This novel is what would happen if a Green Tea used her powers for good and not evil. It is incredibly cute and heartwarming so far.

I love this novel. This is my first review and after reading the available chapters I had to mtl the remaining because it was just that good. This is unlike any historical romance that deals with harem fighting and struggling for favor. There is face slapping but unlike in other novels where it’s just people with the same idiotic plots over and over again and the MC foiling them in the exact same way, there’s actual plots and for the most part they’re all different so I was actually invested... more>> in seeing them resolved. None of the characters felt like cardboard cut outs which I especially enjoyed- especially how the concubines and her siblings were portrayed. The relationship MC builds with her family is everything. And the romance is nice even though ML is obsessive. I like that the choices he made stemmed from his background and his decision to just have MC as his one and only came from what he struggled through in childhood and with his own parents instead of MC having to set an ultimatum like in other stories. All in all it’s an enjoyable read that deals with very realistic struggles with strong characters that all stay true to themselves. <<less

I really love this, the FL is so charming and cute! I can't help but smile whenever she is "acting".

The story is pretty interesting and the plot isn't complicated. The only thing I don't like is the ML, he doesn't have much presence or personality. However, others are saying that the translated version is currently at chapter 16 (?) so hopefully he begins to have more of a presence in the future chapters.

Big thanks to the translators!! I appreciate your hard work!

Review 1 - Up to Ch58:

Following the translations and currently at Ch58 (per translator's numbering), which is actually Ch16... I could see this as a movie with some visual gags. (That scene with the rope on the tree....!) We can't eliminate the voice overs from the characters, of course, as she plots her NPC grabs and the so-called NPCs react accordingly.

This is so charming and funny,

... more>> but she's only five at this point. I'm hoping to stay engaged through growing up and to the end.

Update - Completed:

MC is the most benevolent green tea in the face of all novels. Should she even be called green tea? She's pretty much an ESTP/ESTJ on the Meyers-Briggs test. I think somewhere around 1/2 - 2/3 of the story covers her time from ages 5-7 (or 8) then we do a transition to the age of 13-18.

MC wasn't a perfect girl in her first life, and she actually seemed rather lonely. (There's a suggestion that she might have liked being a homewrecker, but that's barely there.) When she's "reborn" in ancient times, she thinks it's God's punishment and she decides to do better this time around. It's rather lovely to see, though, that, instead, she finds what she missed in her previous one: family. It's not perfect and there are some irredeemable people, but they're a low count. MC manages to sweetly manipulate (not in a bad way) her way into the good graces of as many people as she can. She goes from a seemingly gloomy first life to a second life where she gets to be a sweet, happy girl... and she continues being so in her 2nd adulthood.

I absolutely love her relationship with her brothers. I wish she had more interactions with CP (3rd Bro) and Eldest Sis. I didn't mind as much that 2nd Bro had less screen time, but I do wonder about 2nd Sis (was she ever mentioned?). I love how she's a giant Jin Yong fan who has seen every remake of the Condor Heroes trilogy and loves Huang Rong... cuz, same, girl, same. (Also, I love the almost conversational tone of the story.)

Additional spoilery things:

Spoiler
  • I feel bad for Xi Xinjiang, although I was still a Xiaomei fan.
  • I was about to go nuts over her dreams of walking the path of Jianghu.... Having died in her 20s in her previous life, you would think she would have better sense than to believe that she could just ask around about a Beggar Sect with a powerful master.
  • I actually love how the main characters related to her 6th Bro... and how it was extra fitting where he ended up later on.
  • Just want to note that I don't think anybody in this story ever finds out or suspects that she's out of this timeline... just that she seems to have suddenly grown up and has some strange ideas.

so good!

I'm usually one for heavily romance-based novels, so hearing this also had a big focus on FL's childhood I went into this not expecting much, but boy, was I wrong! I can't remember the last time I was so engrossed in a novel. I loved it so much I binge-read it in 2 days, and MTLed the currently untranslated chapters (very understandable MTL) !

I love the FL's character, and her hilarious antics, and how she forges unlikely relationships with people in the palace. This is perfect if you want... more>> something that's easy to read (i.e. No heartache, crying, and betrayals), and filled with sweet interactions. I also really liked all the side characters.

There's no deficit in the romance department either! I love the relationship between the FL and ML, and once they get together it's all "dog food" and loving interactions.

10/10 recommend! <<less

I am not usually a fan of meng-selling novel, but I really love this one. It's because the MC treats other characters with sincerity, instead of just making them as pawns to gain profit like the usual meng-selling novel. The setting is believable too and mostly heartwarming. Sometimes the face-slapping is done but the MC still retains her humanity, and not just kill or eliminate enemies. It's a very healing novel, totally reccomended.

So far so good😁. Typical transmigration novel difference is the MC's mindset. She used to be a villian in modern times but decided to turn over a new leaf of life when she reincarnated in the past.

That was a short-lived decision seeing as she soon realized that you cant survive the harem by being the good guy. So instead of being a good she decided to be the bad guy to the bad people😉.

Worth MTLing!
the story touched and tickled me in many ways, it might also be a side effect from the heavy plot of Qingye Supernatural Office that I’m halfway through currently but this book helped me a lot in relieving the heaviness in my heart and returning me to the path of fluff. Watching the MC grow up (albeit with a 20+yo mindset), building relationships and camaraderie between her and her siblings, watching her fan club grow in each chapter is truly the sweetest thing. Her being a chuunibyou is so funny and quirky but that added so much to her charm. This story is realistic to me, the way she and her various relationships grew. It’s not heavy on romance, but what you can glimpse and find in the end is so sweet and it portrayed a healthy growth of a relationship filled with a sense of honesty between two people who are portraying a persona different from their real selves but very open when with each other.
this is also the rare one where the harem conflicts doesn’t bore me with their intricacies. The author gives you enough for you to know what was going on behind the protagonists and didn’t waste too much words for the villains.
This book is just a way to give a good ending to a smart and witty good girl claiming to be an evil person. The readers can just sit back, immerse themselves in the sweet and fluffy moments, laugh at the absurdity of the MC’s imaginations and enjoy the storyline that does not overcomplicate a simple thing. Expect a straightforward solution to a relationship problem, laugh at the characters’ diverse personality and character development. No need to overthink the simplistic and convenient circumstances of the MC’s environment.
tldr; just read it, nothing to regret here.

Interesting so far. I like that our main character, Feilu, isn't a secret agent nor godly doctor from the future. Those are fun tropes, but here the idea is that she's a scheming woman whose main skill is knowing how to manipulate others and she has the ability to strategize according to video games and movies. Thrown into the body of a drowned child in some ancient dynasty's harem, she immediately figures out her situation and goes about trying to change it. I like the clear eyed way she... more>> views her family. Her mother's kindness is a weakness, but she also revels in her mother's love for her and for her brother. Step by step, Feilu plans to improve their situation and enjoy the good things in her new "second" life. <<less

All around a thoroughly enjoyable read. Rather than centering fast paced action, it's a much gentler story that focuses on relationship building and court politics. The characters all feel very well rounded, having distinct motivations and understandable conflicts. I felt like their interactions made sense and built off past conversations.

The romance could've been better built up, to be honest, but it isn't awful. I liked how the historical setting seemed to be well researched and how the author took into account how social attitudes change over time. The main characters... more>> older brother is mentally disabled, but it isn't treated as a joke and he is never reduced to comic relief and his character is still taken seriously by the author.

I felt like there could've been more conflict--after a certain point it felt like any real danger the main character experienced disappeared.

It's really a feel good, lighter read. There are hints of deeper ideas regarding court politicking, but they aren't really a focus for the story.

Finally, I'd like to note that the translation is really good. The translators put in notes explaining cultural and historical references that I felt really enriched the experience, and I never felt like the writing was stilted or full of errors. <<less

I really loved this story. It was so easy to read and so fun to see how the green tea MC managed to thrive in the palace and smooth things over for everyone. Loved the relationship between the MC and the ML, though I wish we could have seen more of him and his character.

This a really fun and entertaining read. Some parts serious, some parts comedy, and some parts fluff.

The female protagonist really drew me in with her character and interactions with her family. The romance was not bad but I was more invested in her growth within the imperial family. All her brothers had their own defining personality trait and backstory. Even some of the concubines and consort were given a bit of depth.

If I were a context-less NPC citizen of Great Lin Dynasty, I'd be lamenting everyday about the ill-fated union of the pair of childhood sweethearts broken up by a cruel twist of fate </3... more>> The general is romantic and heroic and the princess is beautiful and graceful but BAH the country's in dire straights and
