Had hopes for the novel since the anime made it seem interesting, oh boy was I wrong.

MC acts like a child who is narcissistic and thinks he so OP, doesn't help that he is not the least bit smart or have an iota of common sense.

The elements ranking is full of holes (how is ice and water two separate elements) light Magic can't heal it seems and Makes people who get want to kill themselves (the peons joke about it every chapter a light/water mage is introduced)

Family? Basically just... more>> there, Father spends most his time on the ground asking people for forgiveness and his sister just texts him.

Maybe it'll get better later but I highly doubt it. <<less

From the setup, I wanted to give this story a chance. It is an isekai story which puts the MC into a modern setting with magic instead of technology. Lets just ignore how the MC basically has only studied the science and yet somehow catches up to his class instantly (beyond just having two elements).

This MC is kinda relatable as he is young and hiding a special power which makes him arrogant. The problem is there is no development into an actual human being. He always acts like a child... more>> to his father and sister, and a cold arrogant d*ck to his classmates.

The 'romance' is basically non-existant, MC does something with little effort and the girls around him stare at him with big eyes.

The animation actually made it worse as most of the characters had no facial expressions.

I could go on, but basically its just dull and not offensively bad in anyway. <<less

I've binge-read it from zero to the end. I'll be honest, I've got mixed feelings about this novel:

Spoiler
    • I'm pretty sure there were supposed to be another 1000 chapters because so many things just never got completed. The whole other plane thing: summoning plane, dark plane etc. There was even some hints towards some sort of plane invasion during the Su Lu arc in Dubai. Alas, never happened.
antarctic/arctic, bermuda triangle, Sahara, the whole water demon civilization, Senior Hunter promotion, Khufu stuff/dark plane (Wen Tai stuff)... nothing beyond the mage city battle. This was literally what I expected to happen but it just did not. Author just... got bored, I guess, and decided that screw it, cba. Sad
    • Combat felt terrible after what felt like an extremely cool setup at the start. I mean, it was ok at the beginning when not many elements were involved. Abilities were distinct in terms of power and level. The upgrades felt ok'ish, but then it just turned into a total mess after advanced level. The whole star upgades via soul essences just... got lost even though so much emphasis was made about it, so many people got shocked because of it and yet... forgotten. Also, the whole "Sorry, I'm unable to fight on water/air" felt weird.
What also truly made me sad was the fact that even though MC had 7 elements, during the fights he barely utilized more than 2. The space element and the chaos element felt like some giga OP thing but in the end it was barely used. It was always the same thing: pretty much fist fighting while possessed by Flame spirit... I dunno, felt super lacking.

Multifight battles felt terrible as well. From how it was written it felt like whenever MC fought one of the enemies in the pack, rest were just afk waiting for the fight to end before they joined in. Sometimes it made sense. Sometimes (most of the time) it did not.

Power of enemies also felt weird. Plenty of times I expected an enemy to be very strong and yet MC easily defeated it with no seemingly big improvements in cultivation. Flame Belle's power was weird as well. Sometimes she is uselss, sometimes she just solo's the fight. I think it was during the black church arc where she solo'd. Maybe I'm wrong. Nonetheless, it was very unexpected and felt wrong.

    • A bit cringe on the romance plot. It just never felt complete. Why have 2 wives when you could've had 6 or 7. It is either 1 or all of them. I dunno, felt wrong. LingLing and Asharuiya absolutely were meant to be in the harem, especially the former.
It also felt weird when 95% of female characters were godly beauties. At some point I just didn't even know if yet another godly beauty was actually attractive. I guess only Mu Ningxue was sort of the most beautiful one since it was mentioned plenty of times... I dunno, this whole beauty thing just felt annoying

Behavior of MC also felt cringe at times. His desire for intimacy was a bit too much to handle sometimes, too cringe.

    • I felt like I had to make this a separate thing because it happened too many god damn times to the point where it felt ridiculous: something is going on and then suddenly certain item/ability is required to proceed. But don't you worry, apparently during some time ago, which was omitted in previous chapters, MC learned/was given/found that required item/skill, so, voila, plot can go on... happened just too many times. I've never felt so annoyed by this.
    • A lot of times I skipped reading paragraphs because of what felt like too verbose descriptions of things that just did not matter
[collapse]

Basically, a really good story was spoiled by poor execution. Very sad. I really enjoyed the plot but, alas... I can't really help but put 2 stars for it.

I recommend you to read it's manhua/manga not novel, novel is f*cked badly by author so you should try manga,

Novel is just waste of time go to manga it is good

Pros

... more>> Good world building

Nice ideas something new in magic novels

Action is good

Cons

Over stretched plot (I wait for hundreds of chapter for international magic competition but MC dropped out of it because 1 st female lead is not qualified for the competition, I feel really frustrated and irritating when I know that)

Frustrating, irritating

Worst romance and Harem I have seen

Worst decision

MC personality - 1 star <<less

I feel like people are oddly biased against this novel, I see all kinds of reveiws about stuff like "why is this not there" or "he didnt even do this" when these are things that dont even happen in other books and it makes me laugh. "Why didnt anyone who wanted to kill themselves invent guns?" I mean seriously???? What is going on here??!

First of all, its a parralel world..... yes... a parralel world.... why is it such a problem that guns dont exist when people can be their own... more>> bombs? I just dont understand. "Why didnt he call his friends/family more" I would love to see a novel that has every call, text and converstation between characters, starting from when they're 13 to when they are 25 XD.

I genuinly dont know what to say other than to give the novel a try. There is also an anime, it has 4 seasons currently.

I feel like a lot of people think the MC is tr*sh because he "sexually assulted" the FL so here u go
Spoiler

they already promised to be together forever, and even tried to elope before the FL wanted to go back, causing the MC to bare the punishment. Later on, due to her talent and a tresure, her emotions were forcibly suppresed. The MC also does not take liberties with her despite what other reviews say. In reallity, they had a bet and MC won, which by the bets terms allowed him to kiss her, which he did indeed do suddenly and without warning........ although she didnt reject anyway, so I still dont quite understand the hate

Reasonable IF ignore some objectionable things.
First, the magic system, it's really bad.
Second, the childishness of the characters and all that 'I'm rich, I'm better than you', etc.
Third, Inconsistency in spell names, how they work, names of things, names of objects, etc. Basically, everything is subject to changing the way they were defined.
Fourth, repetition. Just like: He died. He is dead. He's definitely dead. So is he dead? The author takes the adage further: "Important things are said 3 times." And uses that for everything that is... more>> said.
Fifth, the explanations leave something to be desired. Out of nowhere comes information about things or information about things that 'happened' but had never been mentioned.
Sixth, the contradictions.
Seventh, Example: Guard) There is a secret passage that leads to place X. *Opens the passage*. MC) Where will that lead? There's a lot of it. And it's not just the MC.
Ignoring all that, you should be able to entertain yourself enough with this novel. <<less

One of the worst story and MC I ever read !!!

I try so hard to read this LN hoping that it will get better but it doesn't. This MC is too much of bastard. I hope that there's no human being that have the same personality like mo fan in real life. If there is sombody like him I hope I have a chance to hit him and burn him alife before he got killed by other. I feel so bad for all of you who read this LN more... more>> than 2 ch. For all of you that read more than that I hope you have a nice day. And good luck to all of you <<less

I really like this one. I expected not to due to lots of mediocre/bad reviews, but it's great. So, obviously I have to mention the bad parts first: the MC is an ignorant twit and proud of it, the absolute lack of any kind of author research into geography or history resulting in made-up names for places and people that just don't fit alt-Earth at all, and a fairly slow start. But after you set that aside, the rest is great.

The cultivation system is both simple and profound, and the... more>> reader learns about it along with the protagonist mostly because he's an idiot. He's called out repeatedly by other characters for his lack of knowledge, but that also allows the author to do exposition to readers via several different mouthpieces rather than just one. And as the MC gains power, his abilities become more flexible and useful, yet never (so far) to the point that he can simply curb-stomp armies. Yes, at one point he does beat the snot out of a hundred arrogant young masters who all have lower cultivation than he does, but that's mostly because they underestimate him at the start and lose the initiative.

Side characters all have personalities that are not only complex, but dynamic. They CHANGE AND GROW with the MC! Imagine that! Some that start out as enemies become friends later. Others remain acquaintances who show up again 300 chapters later either to help or hinder, depending on their own alliances and intentions. They aren't just throwaway plot devices. They have their own goals, backgrounds, and means of advancement that sometimes relate to the MC and other times don't.

Unfortunately, this one is not yet fully translated. I'm at the limit of the translated portion, and when I tried reading the MTL it was awful, so I'm stuck with two chapters a day when I'd been going through a hundred-plus most days.

Anyway, I'd give this a solid recommendation. It does have its issues, as all of these stories do, but it's worth pushing through them because there's a solid story here. <<less

First of all I rarely if ever write reviews. I felt like this story deserved one.

Its a simple concept. The idea of ceaselessly getting stronger. The MC at the start has the idea to get stronger to get revenge for the suffering hes been forced to go through by others whims.

Later on he becomes attached to those around him and though hes weak tries his best to save others, many times putting himself in harms way for little to no gain.

Is he arrogant, simple minded, and vengeful? Yes. But hes... more>> also kind, generous, and loyal.

Hes not the kind of superhero dogooder or antihero MC you typically see. Hes much more relatable despite his foul mouth.

I think the trick to liking this MC, is to see him as a tsundere character. He says one thing but really goes all out when it matters. <<less

The world and background created by the author is solid and intriguing. I was s**ked into the setting and the concepts introduced into this power system. HOWEVER, the author is likely a 13-year-old boy. The MC is immature, rude, obnoxious, h**ny, and s*upid. He doesn't learn from his mistakes, from books, from his elders, or common sense. His antics would likely lead him to immediate death or imprisonment in any reasonable society. The author also tends to write short chapters filled with fluff. But, luckily, there are over 2000 of... more>> them! <<less

Wannabe hero type, trying to help everyone or being too nice.

Awesome power but doesn't use it properly, rather than upgrading his power, he goes around saving insignificant poeple. I get it if he is saving his family but nooo he had to be the hero, poeple don't even know his name. MC has no big ambition, he does not go seek strength, all luck. Being sad because of a nobody, not cautious.

I read this with little to no expectations but now, this is one of my favorites. I just think that the elements of the novel mixes so well even though some of them are lackluster individually. The genres stand out and not just for extras and the cultivation is really detailed. Just read this with shounen as the demograpic in mind so don't start reading this with expectations like in a seinen novel.

People say the beginning is slow, so try read the comic first. I don't think you'll miss anything by doing it, since the history is quite simple.

It may be an average novel in general, but don't get too technical about it. You might miss out on good things. There's a smooth flow, and a good magic system. The best one I have seen so far.

If you're looking for a modern world type of novel (that's what I was searching for when I found this ?) with lots of action, you... more>> might like it. It's, at the very least, a good read while you're waiting the update of your favorite novels. <<less

IMPORTANT: Full satisfaction for this series can only be achieved if you fully invest in it and read at least up to 700+. Therefore you will understand the difference between the negative comments and the positive comments.

-Absolutely slow pace. You wont enjoy the story with just 1 or 2 arcs but by having having 6-10 arcs in one go and seeing the progression of the MC.

-Characters at the start stay relevant until the latter arcs, they just go off screen to get stronger on their own.

-Due to the really slow... more>> pace, the story gives good foundations to the plot points.

-The constraints are logical. Money, fighting experience and connections are needed. But to get stronger, the MC needs get into life and death situations.

-The MC is not necessarily crucial to resolving some arcs but the whole cast is.

-The story gets bigger in scope not by power levels. Involvement of the large cast does this.

-The MC keeps his strength hidden due to the large cast. Not everyone is friendly. <<less

I really love this novel MC isn't like those know it all perfect genius you get in most novels, but a crude genius that likes to speak with his ability despite the fact he is dump at times I like it more cause it makes it more realistic. At the start he is really hot headed and picking fights well more like he isn't willing take things lying down, but I like it cause that is how a teen should be. At times he makes smart choices, but isn't willing... more>> to let injustice against him and those he cares about go even when it makes things harder for him. He has a bottom line which is the people he cares about if someone cross that line he will speak his mind and curse them no matter how strong or influential they are.

The MC does have some plot armour, but the way they set it up is simple he has a unique talent in the world of mages and by chance got his hand on the perfect item to help him advance though he still needs to work hard and face many challenges to reach the top. He isn't op, but isn't tr*sh he has a unyielding attitude and guts that along with his hard work allows him grow stronger over time. I loved the story while some people don't like it I found that most people are being a bit too judgemental the novel moves a away from most xianxia and has a unique feeling of its own to it.

The magic system is cool if a bit confusing at first, but is very simple. As the MC gets stronger we learns more and more about the magic system as he gets more involved with the world it progressively gives you the information you need to know which lets you relate to the MC as he discover about magic. One of my favourite parts though is the fact the MC while pretty strong in age group is still at the boom of the cultivation and he works his way up to the top to become a true expert.

For anyone he wants a read I say give it a chance at least try and get to ch 400 or so before you start judging to harshly as long as you don't judge it too harshly you will find the novel quite enjoyable. <<less

Like many people mention this, the whole novel started out a little bit wonky. I think this is due to the author inexperience in writing. The comic is a better starting point because it has better structure.

However, the story begins to pick up after Bo City Arc.

I would rate this as one of the better story out there. The characters are actually fleshed out rather than just disposable fodder. The story have a bunch of recurring characters so they get enough time to be more than just cardboard cutout.

The MC... more>> is strong but not OP enough to actually have a story rather than just endless face slapping. <<less

I don't write reviews however I had to write one to a novel that is so underrated.

First of all this novel is one of the best I read for even though it may have some cliches the fight scenes and action really gets your blood boiling and the MC is not so op but also not tr*sh with the unyielding attitude I love from the characters of these novels.
