Can't call it great, but I definitely enjoyed it.

Does the MC get too many lucky breaks and power-ups? Heck, yes! But unlike the xianxia tropes, it's somehow NOT irritating. I guess it gives a feeling like the original Dragonball franchise? When Goku powers up, it's just so matter-of-fact without excessive melodrama. There's none of the excessive praise and stroking of ego you often see in Chinese xianxia. There's no hard power limit pushed on us by the author, e.g. Bleach and Naruto, then the MC impossibly breaks that limit just... more>> because of his MC aura. <<less

Do you like shounen manga like One Piece, Dragon Ball Z, Naruto and Bleach. Then this is for you. MC start with your average warrior of Valhalla then get stronger little by little by training, get ability, gain experience in fight and your typical sudden gain strength in fight is included. And when you know it you will start loving the MC and the people around him.

This Story this story is based on Asgard and nine realms. So is fun to read some character who have different personalities than originals, so there will be so many plot-twist you like.

A greatly enjoyable series! I will try to keep this review short so it won't overwhelm you, but there is certainly much to say. Simply putting however, I highly recommend reading this for something different than your typical fantasy novel. Many of the warriors in the beginning are basically muscle heads. Not that this is necessarily a bad thing, as it is executed well enough, and somewhat to be expected seeing as how Valhalla is where all the greatest warriors are sent. They are exceptionally enthusiastic about anything Valhalla, regardless... more>> of if they know what it is or not. Comedic minor spoiler of an example on that below.

Spoiler

An example from an early chapter "you shall be taking the rain of steel!" To which all the warriors would shout like Ou! Valhalla! Or rain of steel! While knowing absolutely nothing about what it is. Our MC asked what it was, the response was "I also don't know, but doesn't it sound amazing!?" Can you guess what it is? Its an alcohol barrel stuck onto a long steel pole which basically shot them like a ballista! I absolutely lost it at that point, it was too hilarious!

[collapse]

There is more to the series than just Valhalla, as there are 8 other worlds, 3 of which (Valhalla included) are the front lines in the war against the enemies of the 9 worlds. There do seem to be some harem elements involved, but in what I find to be the most hilarious ways possible. Nothing excessive, just a nice addition. Oh and the hilarious titles the fellow warriors give the MC are the best, even with all the impressive feats the MC accomplishes it always returns to his most embarrassing ones. Which have escalated from The one who meets Valkyries, The one who rode a Valkyrie *insert my man joke*, and my favorite which I believe was from a comment "The one who plays with Valkyries." Do note however they are mostly done in playful banter, jealousy and envy are a minor part in there as well (in a "you lucky bastard" kind of way), but its mostly respect and comradery.

I do have some gripes with the series, such as the pacing. Not to say its bad exactly, but many of the chapters up until about v20 basically feel like one battle after another, with some small of transitional periods to the next major battle and feats, it was however a very chaotic initial period due to an invasion. Story timetable-wise however it makes sense since one chapter outlines that all of the events from those several battles had taken place in a span of 10 days in some smaller battlefields of a war, note however that is from a chapter prior to the one as of this review. It is only around this point and onward we actually see some more slice of life chapter or scenes, one of which even made a big time jump of 3 months (or at least big compared to previous time pacing.) This is a great thing as it both establishes more of the world building and cool downs between major events.

All in all, an enjoyable story. Filled with plenty of action, some nice comedic bits, some nice characters with some depth (though not revealing much just yet) and some unique takes in a few aspects that can prove to be a nice refreshing change of pace for many.

Last spoiler that will be intentionally vague, because that is how good a moment it is. That even in a spoiler it shouldn't be completely spoiled!

Spoiler

We should have seen it coming, but it was completely unexpected. I laughed so much! You will know when you see it

Great Novel! If you are looking for great action scenes, interesting world and power system, this is it. Though characters are not faceless and have some unique personalities of their own, it is not deeply explored (that said there are not many action novels online where that's explored deeply). This is a pure action, fantasy novel with some small amount of romance and it does not try to be anything else (and I do not mind). I would choose this over most of the action novels on this website.

It's a fun story to read, but everything's pretty simple. As expected of Valhalla. *insert jiong here*

MC becomes OP quickly, but he still has restrictions. I feel... that the MC plot armor is going strong though. Maybe.

It could kinda be a harem? Eh, the MC seems to only 'like' one girl, but there are lots that wouldn't mind some attention from him.

The fights and setting are super interesting! Some of the best things in the novel. The MC's personality doesn't really stand out compared to other novels, but he's not... more>> annoying or dumb. Whew.

Sometimes, the hype is really awesome and the comedy cracks me up. The highlights are great. The story seems focused on the MC, but sometimes side characters get brief moments. <<less

Almost every review of this novel is wrong, don't trust any (except the one the one made by eribannen).

They all talk about the beauties that are on the novel, but they are making various errors, valkyries in mithology are known for being from an almost on the same level or more beautiful that the goddess of beauty, so the ones saying that there are too many beauties is wrong are the ones in the wrong, also the female warriors that appears and is a beauty (the MC is unninterested in... more>> her love and she also think of him as a friend and a comrade in arm), she is a beauty not by being one (only) but also thanks to her training, she use her agility and tho fighr in her best she need to have an small frame and thin (not really thin but by having less fat percentage gives her more mobility).

They talk about the op power... first of all, almost all the saga, the origin of their power isn't really based on what powers they had or what they where born, but instead but, by what they did and their fame, the stories that where told about what they did while they where alive, to put it simple, if someone killed a beast known by his strength, they could get a saga that talked about that, and the saga would give him more strength when using it... but the problem is that the stories not everytime is told as they were, someone could have overpowered a gigant lizard but ended with a story abou overpowering a dragon and he would get the strength to overpower a dragon, in other words is op. But there are others sagas, the ones that told the story of someone, these sagas are stronger than the normal ones like our MC, also known as the "Inmortal warrior", that told many stories that were told while he was alive, as a gamer he physically didn't do any of these, but the stories were told of what he did, what he had and what he could do as his game character, because it was his story not from anyone. But he isn't the only cheat character, for example, bracky, another comrade in arms, he is known as the son "of a god", his strength and resistance is brutal, he could summon the thunder of Thor, and also he can restore his body without any inconvenience, in other words heal to 100% with 100% of his stamina one time every day, in other words really op and he isn't the only one who is op.

The story? I would say awesome but that wouldn't be enought, everything happens in the same line, there is a growth of the characters, the new powers aren't something of the moment like what happens in most stories that includes growth, the MC isn't some annoying dude thay only think with his lower head, nothing plain, every character has their own personalities that made them unique. <<less

IT HAS BEEN THE PUREST AND SWEETEST FANTASY NOVEL I HAVE READ THIS YEAR...

Just loved it, I GIVE IT MY HIGHEST RATING SO FAR ✨✨✨✨4.7/5✨✨✨✨

The way you will look at mythological tales will not be the same...????

... more>> The creativity in making a known story into something new is something an average author will never be able to accomplish...????

The sad part is that the cover art is so lame and disproportionate to the contents ?

That is why don't judge this novel by its cover or other bad reviews ❄❄❄❄

The romance is slow but beautiful... The MC is actually a real good guy and much better than most MCs out there... He has a lot of courage in everything except making a move on the girl he likes ????

Spoiler

For Asgard and the nine realms✨✨✨✨

For Idun's warrior✨✨✨✨

May Idun's blessings always be with you✨✨✨✨

The story seems interesting. I will edit this later.

Right now I have a problem with

Spoiler

Him telling the Valkyrie his achievements were only from a game and that he is not a 'real' warrior. It would be pretty awesome to make everyone get awed by your achievement.

But can't be helped since he needed help with runes and etc and him not telling the truth might lead to trouble.

[collapse]

But that is just me wanting it to happen in a way I want it which is ridiculous so don't mind my rant.

Definitely has extremely good potential. You just need to read 1 or 2 chapters to see the potential and type of story this could be.

So far no generic cliche thing is found, which is very good. I have big hopes for this one.

the epitome of mediocrity, it may be the best line to use in order to describe it because it felt like I went back few years ago when I was still reading those crappy linear novels where MC solely relies on their plot armor and happy go lucky setting where everyone has a one dimensional personality. Seeing this really made me nostalgic but by no means it meant that I enjoyed it, though the novel isn't bad enough to completely sh*t on, at the same time you can't really find... more>> anything about it that is worthy of praise. To be honest I would even agree to what others said that it is overrated since I never thought that something this soulless would be more highly rated than some actual good works that contains at least some depth. Anyways, I am just somehow displeased especially when I delved into it with high expectations only to get disappointed by some mildly interesting story with one dimensional characters bound to always be impressed whenever the MC gets a chance to showoff his cheat powers and not to forget the dull developments that happens throughout the chapters, so I'm not saying that this novel is absolutely bad however it is totally average for me to enjoy it but feel free to read it if you don't mind it being like that. <<less

Another overrated novel. It started really interesting MC is pro gamer and dies and goes to valhalla because of misunderstandings but cant explain and becomes a warrior of Valhalla but characters are so simple. Its terrible. There are only 3 vikings talking the others have task to shout ''Valhaaalllaaaaa''. MC is just a gamer who only uses keyboard before dying but he can kill f*cking monsters who slays army commander at 1v1 battles because plot lol. He needs a sword and he gets a skill to summon swords. He needs... more>> skill and here plot armor. He has dragon rider skill but what a coincidence valkyries can turn into beast so MC can ride them. All women are thirsty for MC come oooonnn dont make women so simple sh*tty korean novels. Everyone is like ''Tae Ho you re cool'' ''Tae Ho you re best'' ''Tae Ho ride me''. There re nordic mythology gods there is Thor bro f*cking Thor but no MC is their hope eat me MC drink me MC. I've read 3 and finished 2 of this author's 4 books. This one is my least favorite of his stories (not counting Dungeon Maker as I haven't read a single word of that story yet) that I've read so far. Though he's still my favorite author on this website. My rating is 4 stars, but my actual score is closer to 7/10.

It was fine. I mean it wasn't bad, but there certainly was a lot of places it could have been better.

There wasn't a lot of actual character development. The... more>> main driving force of the story was power creep. Also, there was way too much plot armor, in the cheesiest way possible. There were a lot of times when I also felt that the story was too long. I felt that there was a lot of events that happened and too many battles compared to the little character growth that happened in the story. I feel like it was a little bit too anime.

As far as romance goes, it wasn't done that well. The story tells you that certain characters fell in love (or were just super thirsty), not actually explaining the process well. The harem aspect was awkward as well. It was like the author was too embarrassed to make a harem, but liked some of the characters too much to be unwilling to give up on them. There way the MC's powers worked literally had him "blessing" (kissing) hundreds of goddesses, but the actual harem was forcefully small. I felt like the author should have stuck to one romantic interest or fully embraced the harem, not the little ba****d-ized version we got.

As grateful I am of the translator, the translation has a lot of mistakes. I mean a LOT. There are many places where the wrong name is used, sentences where important words like verbs are missing, and there are even times where entire portions of paragraphs are cut off and times where the words "[so-and-so] said" were followed by nothing.

I'll reemphasize that I didn't hate the story. I just feel that it could have been so much better if there author focused more on actual character development, and the translation was proofread.

I focused on the negatives of the story here, but there were a lot of positives as well. I just didn't feel the need to tell you things other reviews are telling already.

If nothing else, at least the MC had a pair and wasn't a passive beta character.

The last 1/3 of the novel was not good. The story peaked before volume 50. <<less

One of my personal favorites. It is a little childish and cliche, but at least it covers all the bases and finishes properly. I like the story, somewhat, but I like the individual characters to a far greater extent. Definitely a 5/5 I will read this sh*t all day every day.

So I'd like to address some of the reviewers who gave this a bad rating. Complaining about a tired trope of an overpowered MC, harem, isekai etc after only reading a few chapters when it is already clear from the 1 paragraph description of the novel that it was that kind of book : Its like people going to a marvel movie and then complained about yet again a superhero movie.
No, what did they expect? Seriously, the tag of the book already says it all. If you don't like... more>> harem, isekai, overpowered MC, don't read this - why? Its like hating math, but picking a math book just to past the time and then giving it a bad review.

Valhalla Saga is, similar to breakers, another novel Chwiryong wrote, a great spin on that overpowered MC in an alternate world. It is clear that the author did a lot of research into the lore of the norse and if you are one that has any interest in this kind of lore, you'd love Valhalla Saga.

Furthermore, I was impressed with the battle scenes. Some of the novels I've read - at one point or another I just kind of skim through the fights. Possibly because they get too complicated or abstract, or the ending is predictable, or they get too into their statistics and skills and battle system that its just... you just dont care anymore how many skills they have.

Similar to Breakers, Chwiryong really excel in the battle scenes. The fights are actually very enjoyable. Gets your heart pumping. And the author pays attention to every characters strength and weaknesses, and not just make the one overpowered hero. Each hero only has a few skills, but the application within the battle, the strategies, the surprises, made you feel like you are watching a movie. Some reviewers complain about predictable one move ending.
I disagree. So what? Goku has his kamehameha. Ryu has his Fireball. If you do one thing really well, why change?

I love the author's taste of humor. It builts up over time. Characters tease each other and the break between battles is a welcome break for the reader as well - as the jokes are fun, and not forced.

The harem is tastefully done, and the story keeps you guessing till the end. A good ending too, not rushed, with a healthy amount of epilogue.

Highly recommended. <<less

This novel feels very shallow and lacks depth. The MC - a korean pro-gamer- dies and becomes a warrior in valhalla. There he fights and re-creates the legend (the saga) of his in-game character, the dragon knight. The story just flows on, there are some cool ideas, like the saga and the different legions, but overall there are no bumps and no difficulties and I can already "see" the end of the story, so its honestly not worth to continue reading on..

It's okay. Typical pro gamer is badass in another world thing, except the twist is that it heavily tries to borrow from Nordic mythos without understanding it. It may be my own personal gripe, but I just can't believe some weak in the knees gamer who never actually risked his life would end up in Valhalla, let alone be the hero. It really stretches the concept of being a warrior. (Nords would roll over in their graves reading this) but I am a mythology nerd who respects old beliefs so...... more>> It might not bother 99% of you. It gets under my skin though. <<less

YO! If you're looking at the reviews to see if you should read it, just read it. Everyone here has their own opinions, and not gonna lie, most of the people reviewing this novel are reviewing it like a Michelin tier novel.

Right, this is my first review, and I'm not a bot. This is the author of Breakers, and I really like the novel. It's a five on a biased perspective, but an objective review would be a solid four or something around that.

The story is pretty well-paced early on.... more>> Later in the story, it gets a bit hard to follow, or it's repetitive, but taking a break, reading another novel will let you get back into it. Lee Tae-Ho's power scaling is a bit too fast, but for me it's fine. It's stated a lot of times that he's special and stuff, but hey, that's the point of the MC. The power pacing isn't as god tier as the Weakest Mage (Clearing an isekai with a zero believers goddess) or Second Coming of Gluttony, but hey, f*ck it! I think the best part of the story might just be Tae Ho's relationship with the people around him. The romance is really cute, and he doesn't interact with just the people he loves. He has ACTUAL FRIENDS. There are people relevant to the story other than him and his lovers. Later in the story, it gets a bit hard to follow, which is why the rating is a four. Other than that, if you're just looking for something to read, just do it! <<less

It has such a lousy worldbuilding on settings and that put off the mood. I feel like the characters in the novel just teleporting from place to place because of lacks of description.

I found this one on "Good Worldbuilding List" I don't have anything against world ecology but it fails horribly on one side, which is constructing an imaginary world setting. There's no description on what the place our Protagonist got transported to looks like, no positioning whatsoever, even the description of land of Idunn's followers is just "there is... more>> a wooden hut and stone buildings" and that's all there is to it. <<less

Surpised at the high score this is getting.

The good:

    • Unique setting
    • Valhalla warriors feel like warriors and not jelous children that plot behind the MC's back
    • MC actually discusses his cheat with people he cares about and together they discuss the weakneses and how to improve it.
The bad:

    • The translation quality/editing. Seriously, how hard is it to differentiate between, it, he, she, they, them, us, etc.? Sentences need heavy restructuring for ease of reading. There are plenty of phrases that need a change of words to make the phrase work in English. "There are plenty fish in the sea =\= much fish in water"
    • Characters plot armor is too thick to be enjoyable. He either unlocks the necessary skill to win in mid combat, or uses just before the fight unlocked skill. The rest of the fights are won by combining every prievious skill with the new unlocked and slaying the overpowered monster alone (riding valkyries doesn't count, as they are basically mounts without any specialities besides being mount) while the other warriors are reduced to awestruck fans.
    • Nothing against harems done well, but I have plenty problems against the fact that every female character introduced in the story, is somehow intimately connected with MC. Every Single One! Every valkyrie, wants him (granted one or two doesn't want him sexually yet, but by the way things are progressing... it's not long till they do. Same with the only female warrior in the story besides valkyries.
    • There is little or none character emotional develepment
    • We are introduced to the fact that enemies drop runes that can be used to spend on main atributes. Other than the begining of adding some to agility. Atributes are never mentioned again and runes always add some arbitrary feeling of strenghtening. This leads me to next point.
    • The game system is reduced from having potential to simple % of character synchronization. Not to mention that the % means nothing as 33% doesn't mean that the current MC is about 1/3 of posible strenght, but some other arbitrary position.
If the translation quality is upgraded, there is potential in this story for 3.5 stars. As it is now. The 4.3 stars it now has, makes me wonder if people who voted have read any books besides this. Some true masterpieces in novelupdates, have the same raiting...

Readable. The plot is above average, the characters are good, fight scene is acceptable. There are no cringy moments and the ideal that only heroes can enter valhalla make this story light-hearted.

But that is all. This story lacks many things to be called an actually novel. Characters in this story don't have goals and desires. Tension and drama don't exit. Every battles are simply dogfights with MC (with his friend's support) taking the big boss. MC himself don't have anything make me feel interesting or relatable. He is simply... more>> jesus with op skills like kirito. Even if he plot is so simple with no foreshadow and plot twist, I still find some plot holes here and there.

In short, if you are new then this novel can be good somehow. But if you have read many novel, read this when you have nothing eles to do. This story is not bad, it just... meh. <<less
