Just as a gamer found an overpowered skill book called ‘Item Upgrade’ in the hottest virtual reality role-playing game on Earth, something happened to the game’s system, causing his soul to leave his body and go to another dimension. Common sense dictates that he would be born anew then become the greatest overlord of this world by making use of his advanced knowledge. Not in this case! He was already dead. Only some fragments of his soul and that skill book managed to get into that dimension and merge with an ordinary common youngster called Bai Yunfei.

This was the enormous Tianhun continent, where humans could be said to have no limits. There was a group of humans here who could cultivate the power of their own souls then control their bodies, the natural elements and even other people’s souls with that power! These special beings were called — soul cultivators. Come witness how the several fragments of the dead inter-dimensional traveler’s soul and that skill book, which was not governed by the laws of this plane, were going to help Bai Yunfei become a legendary soul cultivator and craftsman!

Pretty decent novel. Firs, it is not classic "transported" novel. Instead of a person from our world transported, a computer game skill together with some memories are transported and implanted into a person from another world. I like that MC here is not a rapist or deranged killer like it is quite often in chinese novels. He is indeed immature and s*upid for a good chunk of the novel, but I am giving it a pass since he seems like he is growing as a person. It much better in... more>> my opinion compared to the introduction of MC who does not change throughout the novel.

I also like that this novel does not have a strong focus on the process of cultivation. What I mean is, if you read most novels, you have chapters upon chapters describing how someone breaks through and cultivates. It may sound impressive and show that there is some danger, but it is quite boring to read how MC breaks through next level for 5 chapters. This novel has very little of this kind of thing. Most of the cultivation is just mentioned in a few sentences. MC also does not have a second power, he does not eat magical fruits that let him break through 5 realms at once. He also does not have some sort of ancient ghost that helps him and gives him fancy stuff at convenience. I only have big problem with one case in the soulbeast forest, that was forced.

This novel also so far doesn't put MC for the most part in ridiculous situations where plot armor has to activate. Unlike in other novels, where MC often meets someone he can't beat, he has to be rescued or some bs must happen for MC to survive, and pretty much without injury at that. In this novel, MC is not put in these situations, other than maybe twice, and the solutions to the situations are not as forced (like there is no some strong friend showing up out of nowhere because he happens to be there). MC fights and beats stronger enemies several times with his own power, and he actually suffers serious problems as a result. Alas, he does solve everything later, but this way I like it better, compared to "deus ex plot armor rescue".

I do wish the romance part was a bit better. He and his future wife literally sacrificed their lives for each other, yet they did not officially hook up after that. The whole world makes rumors about them, yet they don't talk about their feelings with each other.

Overall I enjoy this novel very much. It is quite funny and if you get past some s*upidity by MC, the novel is pretty decent. <<less

I love this story. And the start was well done! It gives the author a reason to connect stuff to us readers (the phrases and junk) while keeping our MC thinking with the logic of his world. So any rubbish the gamer gives aren't really useful so it's culled. BUT I believe in crafting and effects, that gamer soul will appear again to give amazing buffs. So the otherworldly is just used enough to be interesting instead of being the authors way of giving our MC a deus ex machina... more>> way of being an 'old soul' and knowing anything and everything coming their way. So kudos to you author for a story without that blasted 'divine sense' <<less

It's not an amazing plot, the usual xinxia with some gaming stuff but it's worth reading it.

Xianxia novel with failed reincarnation, weak MC, revenge plot, some game elements. The usual.

The MC is different, but it's still too soon to tell if this is good or bad. But anyway, the author is quite good. He combined so many elements, some not found in classic Xianxia, without making the story seem s*upid.

I started it cause it's translated by Heman (original translator of ST - first Xiantia for me) and I am curious.

Interesting beginning so far (8th chapter) , mix between xianxia with game elements.

Plus MC is not a jerk for once.

Personally I haven’t found that comedic feel, the previous comment talked about but this is a promising story. And being picked by the man who picked ST, it should be at least as good lol.

Though I won't rate it yet, I've seen too many novels crash and burn after the setup phase.

This book is Awesome. I read it in Machine Translation and I enjoyed it. It has some of the coolest scenes ever I don’t wanna spoil! Also to everyone who is talking about this reincarnation problem. It isn’t even a problem instead of a soul possesing our MCs body he gains the ability of the soul !

Dropped. Tags are unlucky and naive protagonist. But in reality to be honest is just a wannabe of it. If I compare this to Mo Wuji in Immortal Mortal, the very first 20some chapters are enough to read 100 chapters without getting a single tiny bit bored. In here, I feel disdainful of every single "tried" intent of story, plot, plot-twist, progression, is nule so damn superficial.

Then the cultivation, first 4 realms of 9 in less than 200-something chapters, the rest 5 in 1.1k... huh.

And at Immortal Mortal, you feel... more>> the f*cking injustice and bullsh*t MW goes through, get angry and FORTUNATELY dont get the feeling of anticlamatic since the MC goes along well with his schemes and then reaches his goal while any other character, neutral or hostile is completely humillated and there is nothing leading to the MC, f*cking satisfying. Here- everything WILL and always WILL point to the MC, too much of a IËT feeling and thats a harsh solid like diamond no to me.

The realism of a 18 year old who lost his everything at 9 is nowhere and although I felt that and Uncle Wu, s arc, after that is demential writing.

I am a person that low fps or internet strange behaviours insane a game make feel more dizzy than a incredible highly drugged person or similar, and I almost got to the extent of that feeling for how BORING AND FORCING it was to read through fight-fight-fight-fight-howtofight-fight, and so on, you wonder why there is no dialogue, well simple; because anything is dailogue: "Ummmmm, im gonna start thinking, but I will talk as if im exposing to my class and repeat something that shouldnt even be mentioned, like water is liquid, so I will use liquified water to wet the non wet object."
That, there, that is dialogue, and not even gonna start writing about the sudden interview between fights and at the end of one and at the beginning of one and at a chasing chapter and at a prelude of a fi- ffs this is really tr*sh. <<less

I like reading review because it give me a general idea of what I'm gonna read. But I don't base my next action on it, I just read it. When all those people where saying that the MC was s*upide I was shock. My interest was pick so I decided to read. First 50 chapters I was astonished because the story was quiet good, no MC, no harem already establish. Everything was good. And then I read the 50 chapters. The MC meets an ancient acquaintance. And he became an... more>> idiot. What were you thinking author, the story was good and you fall in the cliche scene and then the cliche force sister-brother link and then and then. At first you dodge all of this and now you fall from it..... Wtf

I was so disappointed because it's start good and it tricked you. I read some of the comments and I discovered that it was only the beginning. First time I did this but I can't anymore, you already wasted my time for 26 chapters you're not going to waste anymore of my time. <<less

I really wanted to like this one, but I can't. I didn't even get through the first 20 chapters, so take that as you will. For me to invest time into hundreds or thousands of chapters, I have to be drawn into a story. A strong premise is nice, but it has to be used well for me to care. This story DRAGS. The MC is dumber than that brick he magicked up in the first few chapters. Everything he does, every idea he has, is moronic, and I can't... more>> forgive that. The plot seems to be mostly due to his idiocy, and where it's not it seems to follow the standard video game early-leveling tropes. Everyone he fights is just about right for someone of his level, because otherwise he'd die. How convenient!

What did I like? The MC is actually a good guy. He's not the emotionless xianxia standard, he's not a pe*vert, he's not (yet) an arrogant ass. He seems to actually care for people. That's refreshing. The premise of item upgrading as a cultivation technique is pretty cool, and what drew me to try this in the first place. Uhh... I think that's it.

Overall downvote, but YMMV. If you want a popcorn curbstomp story where the plot doesn't have to make much sense and everything is pretty generic and forgettable, then this might be viable for you. I'm looking for something a bit better. <<less

This is a unique and good idea but the story itself is suck.

For me it's ok if the MC is dumb and go mature throughout the story but in this novel you will see that there is no change from the early to 1k chapter, he is s*upid, too s*upid for me that annoys me sometimes.

The FL is dumb too. She is so stubborn that it's feel forced.

I will say I love the way the story go but when MC do a s*upid action... I don't like s*upid people because... more>> they can make normal decision but do the s*upidest actions to stand out :) <<less

Really enjoying this so far, Only need the last 301 chapters to be translated and it seems to have a pretty high translation rate :P

I really don't know why so many people seem to want the MC to be an as*hole (based on reviews and comments from translated pages) I liked him how he was.

Incredibly dark, heart wrenching beginning that I really loved. The author really knew how to pull at the readers hearts and at the same time make us cheer when the "villain" got their just-deserts.

Later on it becomes a mix of upgrading stat chapters, bandit hunting, taking a disciple/brother-in-arms, long chase scene, near-war between sects and then finally a harem. I stopped reading mainly because the translator stopped, but if I had to rate the story it would definitely be a downward trend.

Beginning - 5

... more>> Bandits - 4

Chase - 3

Near-war - 3

harem - 2 <<less

First impressions, pretty okay but as the story progresses nothing much of an improvement. MC and friends have connection to each other unlike other shitty novels where the main focus is on the MC and one two friends. The plot is okay its just that the author lacks imagination. Think of this, if you have magic on another world and they utilize it like idiots then here comes the mindset from another world where you ulitize everything on your arsenal to optimize and change something at least. The story pace... more>> is slow I guess. <<less

I wonder if the MC gonna explore more on what materials those weapons had and how the special effect related to it...i mean he lacks of experimental ideas..I think there are a lot more can be done for the novel and hope to see a better storyline. All in all its still a considered as fun and enjoyable novel to read. Keep the update ?

Enjoyable, sort of. My main gripe is how i'd read some numb nuts rank is Soul X, only to be called Soul Y in the very next sentence. And then get called Soul X once again; the f*ck? Nice to see the the author has stopped starting the next chapter with the last sentence of the previous. Geez ?almost like we didn't trudge through the last chapter merely seconds ago. As I experience more and more chapters of this novel I find myself giving less and less of a sh*t... more>> about the characters. I didn't start this novel to read about the generic adventures of Bai Yunfei's f*cking scooby gang. We already have several of those (types of novels) and we sure as hell don't need more. And like those novels, no one gives a sh*t about the reactions from the peanut gallery, because they add nothing to improve my reading experience. Not much else to say really ? It's an okay-ish time waster if you're waiting for a more interesting novel's chapters to be released.

Edit: Just because the MC brings attention to a cliché scene doesn't make it any less s*upid, or cliché. <<less
