This is a true masterpiece and reading this convinced me that not all the Japanese novels on this website are tr*sh. If you're finding yourself losing faith in Japanese novels on this site, give this one a go before deciding never to read Japanese novels again.

If I had to summarize this, it's basically Reincarnator with comic relief. If you want pure action and intellect, go for Reincarnator (M E M O R I Z E is also worth a mention though only a few chapters have been translated). If... more>> you want some comic relief along with action and intellect, you'll find this enjoyable.

Unlike other time travel novels, this one actually goes into detail right from the first few chapters about what happened in the previous timeline, thus giving a clear motivation and purpose to the MC in the new timeline. Unlike other time travel novels it also gives a good explanation as to how the time travel happened.

The MC in this novel immediately starts writing his memories down in a notebook after he went back in time. UNLIKE EVERY OTHER MC OUT THERE. Like holy shit. PEOPLE FORGET STUFF IF THEY DON'T WRITE IT DOWN. WRITE IT DOWN BEFORE YOU FORGET IT. THIS IS LITERALLY COMMON SENSE. But no, apparently every time travel novel except this one has MCs that have perfect memory and never need to write anything down. f*cking s*upid. Once again hats off to the author of this novel for having common sense.

>“Actions that seek nothing in return, doesn’t it fit the image of a hero? Unless you posses a giant amount of gold you won’t be able to do this.”
>“So that’s why you need gold.”
>“Should I just make a mercenary group? Or a free-standing magic weapon and mass produce it...”

This novel is remarkably candid about the world and society that it's set in. The MC considers his situation realistically and makes realistic plans rather than going out to recklessly do s*upid sh*t and get saved by some deus ex machina. This MC actually thinks things through and makes decisions based on a realistic assessment of the situation.

>At the same time so that an accident like a cave in wouldn’t occur we continued to dig while hardening the rocks around us, in order to breath inside, Urza used her contracted spirit of the wind, Sylphide’s power in order for us to breath inside.
>Originally Kail was going to use a magic tool for this job, he was planning to earn the money for buying the magic tool by fighting in the arena, however thanks to Urza he didn’t have to do it anymore. For that he was really thankful. He was also thinking of either hiring some people or having someone cooperate with him, doing whatever he could do with a small group while advancing forward, in the beginning he was planning to only dig with Seran and himself, but it would’ve probably taken much more time than it has taken now.

The attention to detail is pretty good. Even relatively minor details like breathing while digging a tunnel through solid rock are taken care of. Also, both his original plans and the alterations to his plans due to new unexpected events are described.

Also, I lol'd at the idea of defeating the labyrinth by DIGGING THROUGH SOLID ROCK. If the elf didn't have magic that turns rock into soil... wait, why didn't anyone else think of that?

>it’s a labyrinth no one could find for a thousand years, the excavated site was so thoroughly buried, rather than taking out the treasure haphazardly, it’s safer to keep it there.
>“Originally I would bury someone who does something idiotic like directly digging a hole into the treasury without question, however..... ”

Yep, even this question is covered. The author really has thought of everything.

This novel is really well thought out. I have nothing bad to say about it, other than the comic relief moments with Lize punching the MC and descriptions of ti*s and ass, which I thought was inane and pointless. But there's not much of that anyway.

I was pleasantly surprised that even the shopping chapter was actually not just a filler chapter but was plot relevant. The shopping scene was not buying irrelevant stuff like food or frivolous clothes, it's buying potions and magical items which will likely come into use later, with descriptions of what they can do, their limitations and so on.

>“However, we really did some flashy shopping. Won’t we stand out because of that?”
>“That’s a place that is frequented by nobles, they won’t easily leak information about their customers.”
>“Well, though it may take some time, it’ll definitely leak from somewhere, but we have some time before that happens. We’ll be leaving here tomorrow morning, so one day won’t be a problem at all.”

Even the possibility that thieves might be on to them after spending so much money was covered. This novel really is well thought out.

>“That’s where you’re mistaken. What really happened, is that at the same time that you leapt through time, you came to another world. In this world nothing has happened, so nothing has been decided yet.”

An actually sensible discussion of time travel. However this would imply that the MC in this world has been killed and replaced by the MC from the previous world that got destroyed by demons. Which is creepy if you think about it. HAS THE AUTHOR THOUGHT OF THIS???

>“Be that as it may, for example, a newborn human baby. Fusion, if you absorb one, it’ll affect the soul, also a sane human wouldn’t even try to do something this evil. Afterwards, a certain hypothesis was made. If it’s exactly the same soul, such a problem wouldn’t occur..... But something like having exactly the same soul doesn’t exist.”
>“The Kail that came here, probably had a stronger mentality, and the Kail of this world was strongly overpowered, for sixteen years your memories and experiences are exactly the same, and it can also be said over the personality and mentality. In other words it’s like transparent water that starts flowing together without any problems, so the soul has about doubled itself. Furthermore, it happened without the person in question even noticing it.”

YES! JESUS f*ckING CHRIST. The author has even thought this far. He fused with the soul of him from another world, and thus gained greater magical power, but at the cost of the poor soul who dindu nuffin! Poor guy!

Also, the characters are great. Especially Kail and Seran. They're well written, smart, have interesting and quirky personalities and are just generally fun to read about. The girls are somewhat lackluster but act as you would expect of girls their age i.e they have common sense but aren't particularly amazing. Hopefully this will change as they grow and mature.

Alright I'm rating this 5 stars. A novel that's this well thought out, with all possible questions about the time travel being already covered within the first 15 chapters. This is a rare gem indeed.

I'm glad I found and read this.

To any prospective translators: Please pick this up. This is probably one of the best Japanese novels on this website. <<less

Every leacher despairs when they find something so good, reads through it like there's no tomorrow and in the end, notice that the latest chapter has been translated many months ago. This is a beautiful and dark story with a slow reveal. Savor the translated chapters. There aren't many. ;_;

One of my favorites.

It's about MC who became a hero, went, fought the demon lord, and won at a great cost. He practically lost everything he cared about. Then somehow he get a chance for a New Game +. This time he intended to change history.

Btw, he's not OP since he got back to younger self version of him, but with a little something different.

He practically got stronger magic, but to what extent? And the fact that he became somewhat darker than your typical hero.... and his friends had no idea

Read it. Definitely recommended. <<less

Ah, one of the earlier ‘do over’ JP novel that I’ve been fortunate to read. Fortunate in the sense that it’s well written and translated with care.

The premise is simple. The story opens at the end of a saga, hero had finally defeated the Demon King. His quest for vengeance began when his country was invaded and his village destroyed, and it was fulfilled at great cost as his companions all fell. Exhausted, demoralized and on the verge of death, he discovered a strange artifact... and he suddenly woke up... more>> and found himself back to four years ago, before the chaos began, before his country was attacked, before everyone he knew was killed...

To prevent it from happening again, the MC resolves to nip the problem in the bud. First he had to convince his friends and get stronger. Find equipment and gain prestige. Then convince the various kingdoms and races to unite and prepare for the coming demon invasion.

But as the MC changes the future, he slowly discovers that the changes he makes are having waves of implications, making the path to his goals even more difficult to travel...

The characters are nicely developed, and while some readers might be turned off by the harem aspect the MC in this story had lost them once and thus is emotional vested in them when he sees them again.

Each chapter is relatively short but well written; but one might get confused by the lack of quotation marks when the MC is doing a monologue, and some might be annoyed at the changes from first-person to third-person and vice-versa.

Very readable and quite enjoyable. <<less

Currently read up to v2c6

It’s got a really good build-up currently and is interesting how he decides to fix his regret. I recommend it but currently it’s a bit slow for the pace and the translations

It's a novel with a lot of potential.

An MC that goes back in time (to it's younger body) and has the opportunity to redo something with the knowledge of the future. A good read. I recommend it
