well this is quite the long review so please bear with me.

First and foremost I must say that the novel is enjoyable but slow, and it may cause many of you guys to drop it because of how generic the protagonist fells.

ill try to explain the complexity of the MC: Makoto in the less spoilerish way that I can, since I see that most of the problems people (in the reviews) have is with this.

The autor show us Makoto´s journery in four diferents perspectives; Makoto´s perspective (the prinscipal) , his... more>> followers perspective (the second most seen), people who are not his followers (students, merchants, heroes, royalty, etc) and autor´s perspective (omnicient, almost never seen), one must remember that makoto IS a highly trained martial artist (has ben trained since he have 5 years or less of life from a mercenary, in the ways to KILL people, albeit the last part whitout his knowledge) in bow arts, so he is extremely diciplined (throug this dosent show in a so obious way in the begining) this is an important point to gasp at the moment of judge his actions and character.

Spoiler

From Makoto´s perspective the world and history in general seems quite naive (the reader certanly fells Makotos naivety trough the story) yet when seen from other characters POV we comprehend how strange, abnormal and in stances crazy Makoto act or think´s, from his followers POV Makoto is the Alpha and the Omega, a limitless begin whit limitless posibilities, someone who can make their lifes more enjoyable or safer than anyting else, from outsaiders perspective Makoto is a Monster who can do anything and destroy the balance of the world, thus they fear him (with reasons I must say), and from the autor point of view we learn Makoto do not act as he himself, but rather as how he tinks a good japonese student should act and think, he created a mental structure of the "normal Student " and mimic it, that´s why he fells so generic, Makotos true personality is more crazy and sadic, to the point that he can kill people and fell like he crushed a bug or did somentingh normal and part of his dialy rutine, or torture a god to the point that is mentaly deficient when he snaps and then use the same god as an experiment subjet whitout feling anyting.

[collapse]

other than that the story is actualy well thinked, or at the very least structured in a way that we undertand the world and its character who normaly feel more interesting that Makoto himself. <<less

I must admit this novel is splendidly well written, but regardless of it being good story, world, character details, events, premise etc. it still will crumble when the foundation is not good enough. What I mean of my analogy of foundation is the MC. Yeah you read it right. I won't go into further details of my review about this novel and I will only review the main cause for me to rate this to 1 star, the MC.

Firstly the MC's personality is bland, transparent. Its not all there is... more>> to it, see the MC is a rare kind of a psychopath, he and the others doesn't know he is a psychopath himself, so that is really terrifying. He is a psychopath when angered by certain stimulus for example - his parents have been insulted and he went bananas and doesn't know how to express it, so he made a creepy smile (I hope the MC lose in that fight lol). He is the embodiment of innocent evil which is much worst than being slothful and carelessness like the goddess. He doesn't really understand economy and just gives his products to people in need, was it so bad to help the suffering? No, but help all human that are in need? Not possible. He is just messing up with the economy. Possible ways to solve it? Only masochist will do those possible intellectual way to solve it. The MC is so dumb and naive that he drags everyone around him in trouble but everyone around him are so competent that the MC doesn't deserve to be showered with praise by them. Also the title of this novel (moon-led journey....) coincides of what the MC personality is, Lunatic. He is crazy inside but doesn't show in the outside until some trigger occurs.

Conclusion - this novel has crappy logic and tr*sh MC that has thick plot armor and everyone around him either adores him or hates him. I hate illogical stories especially those that are far out of reality. It is like wish fulfillment plus living in a day dream. <<less

I give 2 star instead of 1 because the early chapter is pretty interesting. It goes downhill and very boring soon enough (ch100+)

MC is the problem. Imagine Saitama from OPM being submisive to most arrogant villains who tr*shtalk him, this is just like that.

Despite being the strongest existence in the world, even already beyond the goddess, he still acts submisive. It's not about being humble, it's more like being naive, indecisive, and nearly masochist for humiliation.

Like other novels, there will be arrogant villains all over the place. Instead of... more>> dealing with them as a man, he nearly always take it all without even being angry, just letting those villains tr*shtalk him.

I decide to put this on hold as of ch142 because MC is being suisive again to a powerless arrogant jerk. <<less

Fun to read with lots of surprises. The MC is overpowered but hides it. Currently as of c123 lots of groups are trying to take advantage of him and underestimate what a danger he is to everyone. Look forward to each new chapter

Remember:Words can Make or Break people

The story is unique in itself. It tells a story in the author's way.

He tried various angles or perspective to show.

... more>> Ignorance (hero), discrimination (goddess) , victims of stereotypes (demon, monsters), etc.

Its difficult to write, it's hurtful to criticize the characters too since it may represent the author. Learn to appreciate since your the one taking not giving.

You have different opinions about the novel but choose the words, be formal, be mature, be logical.

If you can't? Don't type a comment.

Yes critiques is good but it should be compressed in a way: to motivate not to destroy someone. (Don't be a troll)

I had fun reading, waiting for the manga and the anime to upload too. Keep it up.

I like how funny the characters are whenever they are around, I like the part when it shows sadness and the part that death isn't to be taken lightly (similar to reality), I like how bad person turns to be good (I wish it's also applicable in real life) like the leech became good, There are things to like much, etc.

The funny thing is it's long it made me stay up all night which is not healthy.. I meant that it is great👍*thumbs up* <<less

No kidding that's all.

Review?

The Action and fighting scene is there. Most of the story line was either fighting or fighting? And revolves how bugged Character he is.

Romance nah there is no such a thing. Ain't no Genre indicate that there is one so give it up.

Character dev? There is none because there is no romance. So if you are waiting for something. Sorry to burst the bubble. But there is none. Our MC is that kind of MC you know the drill he is aiming to became a Great living Wizard. His current age is 20+ I think so he is already at the realm of a wizard. Good luck bro. Aint that thing rottening? Or you're using your bow? As a material for your desire? My Goodness that must be painful?

But there is a character growth and mentality growth. Atleast on the MC surrounding. Why did I say that? Our MC is sure strong that's given but only Absurd brute strength. His mentality stuck somewhere Middle school student?

How did I hold on? Because of his excellent subordinates. Which is much more brigther than the MC. Rather the common dense+naive+dense+dense+1+1 = 2 WTF. Yep he is annoying one. Which is common in JP isekai WN. BTW he likes cat so much that the beastman cat race. Thought what the hell am I reading? Hopefully that sh*t wont go to the wrong path (BL). Dayum~ bro.

Well if you love action so much this one is for you. But cunning one? Please get out of here while you still can.

But he get drag and dragged in trouble. And enemies were like freakin air born. You can even say that his middle initial is (T) for trouble.

But slice of life without romance it felt like my seasonings were lacking. Like how to cook egg without salt. The taste is so bland. Yep it's bearable but at the same time. It felt incomplete? Because sooner or later you'll get tired of meat meals.

NOTICE ☡

5 reasons why you might hate this wn.

1. MC

2. MCcccc

3. MCccccc

4. MCcccccc

5. MCccccccc

Yep~ The MC for sure. <<less

Having read up to the latest translation so far, I am impressed with the writing. Some glaring flaws do exist, a major one being the stereotyping of all Japanese people as naive, non-discriminating, kindhearted people. I think this can be forgiven, seeing as Japanese are the intended audience for light novels. The author also shows that social problems (bullying/etc) are a thing in Japan, so it's not that bad.

This is not a story of the MC becoming a perfect person that can do everything by himself. It's instead one where... more>> the imperfect MC gets help from others who can do what he cannot. I understand that a lot of people want the gutsy, self-confident protagonist. Makoto doesn't fit the bill for that, but he isn't just a typical beta male either. Or at least, he's content with being a beta, but the world doesn't let him; he thinks of himself as a beta but everyone else labels him as an alpha. It's a bit complicated, but that's why I like it.

Makoto does grow throughout the story, but it isn't very showy. The growth is mostly psychological, in the 'finding self' kind of way. But there are a lot of amazing fights, and the plot is neither too random nor predictable, having a balance that is enjoyable. The MC might be indecisive, but the way he arrives at his choices actually enhances the plot. I'd definitely recommend reading it! <<less

The premise of the story is ok, but the storytelling is just terrible. First, the timeline is all messed up. One chapter can say "six month later" and describe events that happen, and the next chapter starts at six month prior. Not only that, there is no indication when the events happens. It gets really confusing.

Second, the writing is all over the place. It is incoherent and confusing, especially in the first 50+ chapters. Bunch of different thoughts is often just jumbled together and is thrown at the reader. It... more>> gets a bit better later, but not by much. In addition to the bad storytelling and confusing chapters, the translation also have many problems, but that is really just an icing on the cake here.

Third, hateful MC. He is just a little naive child mentally. He is pretty dumb and does not even learn when sh*t happens to him. He is really classical japanese teen (typical novel or manga mc) with a bunch of complexes. There are no interesting qualities about him. He is really as average as it gets. He does not think things through and does not consider consequences of his actions at all. He is oblivious to what's going on around him. How's the story where the MC is just a s*upid child is going to be good? He basically doesn't grow up at all and is still as naive when as at the beginning. Not only that, he is being babied by his followers! They hide stuff from him because it's complicated and might change the way he sees things and thinks.

Also, the story gets often quite boring. There are many pointless chapters that just dedicated to things like discussion about inventory of the store and the items in stock or how one guy is peeping at the MC magically and what he is thinking. Interesting events in the story are often just skipped and overlooked. Also the events are super stretched out with idiotic and pointless things in between. Basically terrible storytelling.

Those poor girls that follow him... I already see a tragic event happening and him realizing how he feels about them... The story has a tag "romance" but really there is none. There is some talk about s*x in the story, but zero romance. MC's followers develop feelings for him and it is shown, but only in occasional discussion. It really gets depressing eventually. MC has zero romance interest in anyone. It is very sad that at the chapter 200 there is so little character growth and MC is still a naive child. Also there are some changes to his character, it's not really much.

Spoiler

Huge plot in the story is how many people are afraid that MC may become derange and start mu*dering everyone. Looking at how unstable and s*upid he is currently, there is actually a possibility that story might take that path. Also because his followers hide a lot of stuff from him, it also might be a factor. Honestly, the more you read this, the more disappointing it becomes.

I liked this series for quite a long time, and eagerly read each new update, but recently I've found that I am more irritated with it than enjoying it. The beginning was a load of fun, since it had a feel similar to One Punch Man or Konosuba, with a group of ridiculously overpowered but incompetent idiots getting into ridiculous messes due to their lack of sense. Tomoe and Mio would run off and casually cause catastrophes while Makoto played the straight man, having to haul them back in line... more>> while he is frustrated at not having human friends due to his misfortunate circumstances. The world they traveled in was also reasonably colorful, and it sort of laid out an obvious path of progression. He would meet and probably clash with the other two humans that had been summoned and the countries they represented, then eventually face the goddess. As the story progressed, the focus shifted away from the absurd comedy aspect and kind of became an easygoing journey. Tomoe and Mio were put on a bus to mature and Makoto got a wise mentor figure, Shiki, to help him out. This was fine because the world that they were traveling through became more and more interesting. The conflict between the demons and humans was not so simple. Humans weren't just vain a**holes, and the demons were not total underhanded scumbags. Makoto began to meet many people on both sides that he could get along with and who had sympathetic and reasonable motivations. Unfortunately, this is where a problem started to appear. Makoto was still someone from an op gag series, now plonked into an actually compelling and more realistic setting. His three major problems were his uncontrollably ballooning powerlevel, his bad character development and Asora. Asora gives him a complete sanctuary where everything he cares about can be isolated from any outside concern. His powerlevel has spiked from way stronger than anything around him up to greater god, which is way out of whack for any challenge he has faced at any period in the story. Finally, he went from a normal guy with normal sensibilities, to kind of a horrible freak, but not in an overt way. Because he is so protected from any possible concern or anything going on with the setting, he slowly developed into someone with almost no empathy or social capacity. Whereas at the start, Makoto was the one with the common sense and moral backing keeping Tomoe and Mio in check, now his three (now hyper competent) servants are supporting him and his attitude that is completely detached from reality. Essentially, Makoto doesn't give a sh*t about anything except for his servants, who are also invincible, and thus not something he needs to worry about. He could completely retreat from the world into Asora and live in a paradise, but he doesn't because he likes his pet projects like his shop or class, which causes huge distortions in the world's power structure that he willfully ignores. But he's not really committed to any of these things because he cares about them or anything like that. He doesn't run the shop to see it grow and become profitable, since he's a terrible businessman and never attempts to get better, but he doesn't do it for humanitarian reasons since he blatantly turns a blind eye to huge swaths of suffering on all sides that he could easily stop because he doesn't give a shit. He also doesn't care about his class since he's constantly trying to get out of it, and doesn't seem to care about the fate of his students after they leave. He's essentially stopped caring about any of the people he's met on his journey as well, as he never really helps anyone but himself except when it is convenient and beneficial to him. He's not even committed to fighting the goddess since he isn't consumed by a bitter hatred the way shield bro was, and isn't constantly training to get stronger but instead spends his time fafing around. Every time any legitimately interesting situation could begin to occur, it is immediately slapped down to show how superior Makoto is to everything in existence. All the interesting characters and settings of the story have to bow down to Makoto's whims as Makoto blunders through every storyline like an overgrown child. For example, a recent chapter dealt with Makoto's pet country starving due to it's harsh winters, but that storyline doesn't really get resolved because instead the story deviates so Makoto can get a hotspring. Another example is him acquiring a spell that summoned a gate god to earth at the cost of thousands of souls. Because of Makoto's supreme power, he doesn't have to care that his braindead decision is potentially risking all his follower's lives because he can literally beat the sh*t out of gods now without breaking a sweat. When the gate god tries to retreat to a different dimension, Makoto pulls dimensional breaching power out of his ass to capture the god and defeat him. Makoto does not learn anything as a character, he does not face any consequences for his idiotic and self centered decision making. Instead, he is provided enough powers as the plot demands for him to steamroll every possible adversity. Other characters, like the female hero and demon king have also been beaten with the idiot stick to keep them from being better people than Makoto, as their motivations become twisted into something s*upid. His whole attitude can be summed up as insincere. He treats other people's feeling, concerns and circumstances with flippant disregard. He doesn't sincerely pursue anything or follow through with anything. He doesn't even think about his own circumstances with any seriousness. He just casually goes from whim to whim as they enter his brain. This world would probably have been something great if the entire Makoto faction were extracted from it. I like the people in the setting, as many are pretty deep, possessing an interesting web of conflicting desires and motivations. I would also like Makoto and his ret*rd gang in a less serious setting. Sadly its pretty painful to watch all the interesting characters get shat on by god emperor Makoto. <<less

Yes, this novel just fits right into those who grinds and digests long thoughts. It is not for those that wants the MC to conquer the world in just one chapter. It is not a wish-fulfillment series even. The initial start is a very cliche one, and with a bland taste at that, but what makes this interesting is on how the author takes the development into a natural and almost realistic point of view. What it means to hold power when you are just a f*cking average Joe Schmoe.

And... more>> something to mind... it's not a harem troupe that wants the MC's D constantly but his servants has actual personality... something that other acclaimed harem series always don't have.. and it's not even harem to begin with. That cliche falls to tr*shMoki, the other summoned hero, your wish-fulfillment character that was slapped with the Reality Train by the MC.
Spoiler

A keypoint to understand the story is that the MC is not a human but a hyuman. So in a sense it is not just an isekai but a reverse because the MC is one of the otherworld's denizen to begin with. His immense mana is just the same on how Goku trains hundreds G levels but on a daily basis.

This novel already blew my mind with its narrative aspect. Though if wants the story to get fast, it does, but also in reverse just like the ***cough*** Lorel Arc which is darn long and not even half-interesting. And yeah. The MC's character development is just so darn brilliant. He's not a hero nor a hell-bent fiend. He is a pure, unstable double-edged sword. A third power in the world instead of the cliche. And to boot, a polarizing MC. Someone you'll hate and like constantly.

All in all, this is by far the best isekai novel the genre has to offer to me. It has the right amount of gray areas to explore, and the gritty and grime world like ours that is both fantastic and shitty...
Just Author-san, don't make these seemingly long and boring arcs often.. <<less

Dont skip over this WN because it has the generic plot. I think most of the ppl who are rating this poorly are just ppl who are bored with the standard plot that most WN/LN take and in sorry but this isnt one of them. Tho I say that it takes the generic plot and adds in its own spices here and there which I like. It adds enough to get you invested in the novel and stick with it. Ive also seen parts where you can expect the outcome... more>> but ppl stick with to see it happen. This story is an interesting one. Okay it starts with a slow my-pace feels, but the plot and mystery each chapter reveal is astonishing and fresh.

Might have a feel of a slight misunderstand or happy-go-lucky, but turns out to be the author's way to hide the turn of event.

Good point of view, the world building and character personalization is clear and good.

A must read.

At first I didn't read this LN because some of the reviews said it was repetitive. But after having no LN to read and gave this a try, I regretted not starting this LN earlier. Who said this is repetitive? The LN is filled with mystery, but the author will slowly reveal it, unlike many LN. I also love the POV chapters of others. The story plots are carefully planned, and there are no inconsistency. The translator's English is good as well so there are little to no grammar mistakes.... more>> The release are fast. This type of standard is equivalent to a proper Light Novel. I RECOMMEND THIS!! <<less

maybe not boring for everyone, but I'm talking about the long chapters which talked about the heroes... ^^;

The story goes into so much detail, but for me the details are just right. Plus, I think that the major reason why I like this story is because of so many questions and mysteries left unanswered. Also, they keep dropping bits and bombs that keeps you hooked.

Yes, I do think that the story is a bit slow-paced, but that's where Reigokai comes along. Kudos to the translator for sharing this masterpiece to the masses in super high quality and taking care of it like its his own child.

All in all, for me this is a rare long novel which hooked me enough to keep me from dropping it prematurely. Yep, I love it, with all its good and bad.

Oh and, Makoto is awesome (PERIOD). I think his adapting period is quite reasonable and I'm really looking forward to his character development. <<less

sorry. It has potential but all of that was gone.

the thing is, when you look at the raw. After the release gap and author hiatus. The author seems to be forget on how to write.

here's the thing if thing novel was keep on hiatus and stop at that point. I would give this novel 3.5-4 stars as it is decent novel (at that point).

but forget that because the author comes back and ruin everything that once was. And after that I start to see this novel from the very beginning... more>> a re, review or some sort.

this novel was never good to begin with and I just waiting for new release is because I already spend 300 chapter in.

so trust me, I know what I'm talking about.

the MC was aimless, the follower was aimless, the side character was confuse, the bad guy is none existence, the plot is none existence, the foreshadowing is none existence, the build up is none existence, all the flag is wasted, the author forget how to write.

let's get to the point. Chapter 1 - lorel is so so average isekai adventure I can give it a pass. But as a whole this novel was a mess.

if you reading the early chapter you can feel the spice is there, the potential set up is there, the mystery, tension, and direction is all in there. But then (i don't want this novel to be this) there is hesitation within his writing. This should be 2 dimensional novel and that is it. You can't expand what originally 2d without reworking from the ground up to be polygonal 3d.

the first thing goddess judge about the MC is that his facial feature for f sake. Everyone in this novel is 2d character with clear role and direction. From middle to the late chapter you will feel it as the world fall apart.

all flag and world building was just being thrown away and the author just making sh*t up.

tomoe is strong? Now she's not.

war is happened because they want territory? Now it's not

the girl is similar to the girl from previous world she's important? Now it's not

this kind of bullshit. There was a very clear flag and then it's just got replace by something that is not even red herring or foreshadowing.

random sh*t go~

that is how the author not only writing sh*t up. But also ruining something that already established.

this novel (especially the later chapter) is a writing sin. It's not even fun for brain dead entertainment.

also after the sky dive drop of a quality there is the possibility of the author realized this and he now write the last arc of the story. Yup last arc. No rising action, no nothing just the last arc (not to mention 2 whole arc before this one was full on filler).

even the author didn't want to saw this ugly creature that is his creation.

ugly. This novel, this story is just ugly.

and what more sad is that, it's not ugly from the beginning. It was ugly from the domestic violence it received. <<less

Interesting at first but after 200~ It's going down to the hill. School arc, Lorel arc, and after that are really boring. Novel filled with a lot of japan culture filler such as food, Onsen, Japan household fight or whatever it's.

I can't barely bring myself to read till 393. A long hiatus made me think the author run out of ideas. The story was very poorly executed. Where is the goddess? Race war? Heroes? A war between kingdoms? There're tons of interesting plots he can write but Heya let's write... more>> about side characters (the problem is the author can't make them interesting or lovable They're just bland..) Oh, Never forget our favorite almighty glorious Japanese food. Tamaki could be an interesting character but nope, The author adds her to the story so, He can write about Miko, Shrine, Sakura shit, and of course Japanese food.

Another funny thing about this novel is tagged as Harem but Author really loves paring side characters together even harem candidates can't escape this. I don't mind that but side chars should be in the Extra story and at least made them interesting. Well, If he does that we probably have 150++ extra stories by now.

It's quite a good novel, im glad the author is back from his hiatus

MC developpement is quite nice throughout, tho it took a long while for romance to blossom, he's really a late bloomer

The side charas are all nice too

Honestly, this entire novel feels like a drag. The problem I have with it is that the author doesn't seem to know in which direction he wants the novel to go and because of that everything feels disjointed. It tries to be many things at once and ends up being mediocre in everything. As a result, a lot of what happens in the novel feels more like filler than actual plot. I also dislike the way the MC is handled. In the span of almost 300 chapters, it feels like... more>> he's barely progressed at all. In the beginning he's an indecisive and naive pushover, and a few hundred chapters later... he's still pretty much the exact same. I guess he's progressed strength-wise? Honestly it's hard to tell. I think the author is purposely keeping his strength vague so he can nerf it or buff it whenever he feels like it so that the fights don't all play out the same. Though in doing so, it kind of breaks the continuity of scenes as he sometimes struggles against opponents he really shouldn't be struggling against. <<less

Damn, the novel has continued!

So to celebrate that, I'll bash the bad reviews that didn't get the structure of this story.

This novel, believe me or not, is one of the type that is an actual adventure.

... more>> It has no need to fill you up with adrenaline at every corner, sometimes life is just normal, "cliché" as you might think it. This is that type of adventure, a longgggggg road.

That's why if you can endure a very long story (currently 300 chapters), you should try and it read it to its fullest.

Though if don't like novels that go on too long to reach the 'goal' you probably won't like it. You'll miss out on it though. <<less

This light novel started strong but unfortunately it suffers from one major problem: the MC left both his balls and his brains at the start. After that he seems entirely incapable of either foresight or holding a grudge, instantly forgiving and often working with anyone who tries to kill him. This includes those that would have put him in a state of indefinite torment that he knows they have done to others.

The story itself moves at a crawl for two reasons. The MC, who has the personality of a blank... more>> slate, simply doesn't move things along proactively and the story regularly cuts to other character's points of view, which often shows that character looking down on the MC without advancing the story.

As a few examples of his incompetence and mental weakness:

Spoiler

He blows up a gate with his OP magic near the start, then suddenly wonders if there was anyone hurt at the gate

Spoiler

He states that he intends to find information on his parents that came the world he is sent to, then gets entirely sidetracked with a desire to become a merchant.

Spoiler

He finds out his training was rapidly increasing his power and so decides to stop it

[collapse]

Spoiler

He goes to a village that attacked him without listening to reason, spares them without fighting back, finds out that they still planned to transform him into a sentient tree that feels pain, sees a forest of people who were already transformed in this way as punishment for stumbling upon their village, then instantly forgives them and lets them work with him.
