While working overtime through several nights, he fell asleep for a short while. When he woke up, he seemed to be possessing the villain of the webnovel he was reading.

“Well, how typically cliché… to the point where I’d end up dead if I were to follow the predetermined fate. Darn it.”

He need to find a way to survive.

The first way to survive as a good-for-nothing villain in the webnovel.
“Convince as many people as possible to be on my side.”

The second way to survive as a good-for-nothing villain in the webnovel.
“Become strong enough to protect myself.”

Lastly, the third way to survive as a good-for-nothing villain in the webnovel.
“Never become friendly with that proud and insane ‘Returnee Master’.”

But what should he do?
Even before he possessed the body, the original owner already caused an incident.

“Use your money to kill the ‘Returnee Master’ who has yet to regain his power? Are you crazy? Then who will stop the Demon King?”

This is the beginning of the modern-day survival + dungeon-raider fantasy story of Choi YuSeong, the possessed villain who wants to live a laid-back lifestyle!

fast paced action packed fun movie in book format.

Queerbait, 100%. Smart MC. Very fun story.

Negatives: Too fast paced. They had a lot of tropes and hooks but a lot of things were underused or simply skipped over because of fast pacing.

After reading the manhwa, I just want to come and say that this is total queerbait. Like bro, the original protagonist is f*cking head over heels for our MC and I'm just being stuffed with a mouthful of dogfood every chapter! The s*xual tension between these two is just so aggravating I just--

God someone save these two..

Some examples from the text:

Spoiler

"I've told you several times, but I really like you" - Kim Do-Jin (OG Protag)

"No, I think it's accurate to say that he IS seducing me" - Choi Yu-Seong (MC)

"Choi Yu-Seong is mine!" - Kim Do-Jin (OG Protag)

"The beautiful man in front of me. With black eyes that seem to swallow me up, those sturdy shoulders and that fine tone figure. This perfect masterpiece of a man is named Kim Do-Jin" - Choi Yu-Seong (MC)

[collapse]

Like, could you be any less romantic?! (Not that I'm complaining about it but y'know.. Get together already!)

So far, it doesn't have as much BL content as "tr*sh of the Count's Family" or "Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint", but it definitely isn't lacking. As some of the above commenters stated, not long after the MC arrived in this world, it's like Kim Do-Jin (OG Protag) forgot about everything else and constantly chased after our MC.

On another note, the novel itself has quite an interesting concept because the MC doesn't really gain any OP powers, but instead uses the knowledge he already had to put together a plan to help him survive and escape bad situations. He's not too greedy and doesn't try to actively covet the OG Protagonist's allies, but instead just recruits enough to make him decently strong and not in constant danger. He's smart and when encountering situations that aren't explained in the novel, he is able to rationally use his own heard to figure out solutions. <<less

From reading the manhwa, I just want to say that this has some sort of queerbaiting, not as much as Omniscient Reader, but I feel like there should still be a tag for that because, yeah although they're not homosexual, there's still some weird s*xual tension between our MC and the true MC that is not present between other male characters. Like, the returnee dude is weirdly interested in our MC but suuure it's because he wants to manipulate and use him to kill this other dude, it's not like... more>> he's a yandere. <<less

Lol I remember seeing the manhwa for this on a manga reading site. Even the cover of the manhwa looked like it was from a BL/yaoi manga. If it didn't have a BL tag or countless comments saying it wasn't yaoi, I would've completely thought it was BL. Even the actual content feels like it comes out of a BL manhwa...

As enkiros said, kinda queerbaiting.

Hmmm... otherwise. It does feel like it's pretty good so far. It's a tr*shy chaebol kid-tr*sh that has someone else reincarnate into him, and then he... more>> changes and becomes cool and OP. Basically something like that. It's a somewhat tried and tested formula, and it's pretty good so far imo (in the manhwa). Check it out maybe? <<less

Goddamn this gonna be my cup of ☕

This trope reminds me of YJH and KDJ but a subtle one to surmise! The story lack orig elements, nevertheless, I definitely wanna check this one. It's entertaining, queerbait, yes. A dense protag-, yes. A yandere ML [maybe? Lmfao] Really into queerbaiting tropes like this without actually them ending up together, but continued to be platonic forever [as KDJ and YJH quoted, "Companions in Life & Death" And with no romance until the end. [No FL's such. No ècchi, oppais, harem such.] What... more>> a fresh *giggles* otp! 🌹[He's Dokja but less ruthless, Dojin is YJH but more chill]

PS. Really not here to comment abt the story's lacking and Deus Ex Machina pro-antics because it's obvious [I mean, who cares lol and it doesn't matter to me that it's a mix of TCF, ORV & KN's obsession upon dungeons and stuff like that. Imma hand this to the author for making me happy 😁 MC is so likeable, If you have any recommendations with this kind of trope in any MMORPG/Murim or Western Setting gladly message me on board! <<less

Do you know what this reminds me of ? Yuri On Ice. Though there’s no direct correlation with each other, both scream s*xual tension and BL. Like f why can’t you just come out 😂

some superficial likeness to ORV in the system and the relationship between MC and the protagonist so far. to be honest, I was expecting the tension and battle of wits to be between the MC and protagonist, not between the MC and his own family, so I'm kinda disappointed so far. a lot of focus on dogs blood family melodrama ... more>>
Spoiler

I actually checked the country twice because the family set up is more like the typical Chinese super rich family/clan in-fighting and scheming novel. In Korean novels the MC is usually either an orphan or has a sick mom, grandma, or sister and lots of debt; there aren't many focused on family scheming and power grabs instead of saving the world.

[collapse]

as for the stuff outside the family drama... well everything so far has mostly been related to his family so not much happens that doesn't lead back directly to his siblings or family members. even the protagonist has been less prevalent than the dysfunctional family conflict.
not sure how far I'll make it since there is only so much dogs blood makjang family crap I can take. I'll give it an average 3 for now and let some chapters pile up in hope that the family infighting is only at the start and wont be the entire focus of the story.

about the manhwa;
Spoiler

I'm not a big fan of the character artwork and prefer the MC on the novel cover over the soft-looking blond dude created for the comic. I think he's supposed to look genteel or noble or something, but I find the way he's drawn to be kind of creepy and off putting. I really didn't like it and found it bad enough that I dropped it by chapter 10. maybe if I'd read it first I wouldn't mind as much but I read the novel first.

I'm overall disappointed in how generic the novel played out. Maybe due to its earlier origins it lacks any and all ability to stand out or differentiate itself. I originally got hyped for the manhwa which currently appears to be better than the novel.

    • The rich son aspect isn't used (other than a plot point)
    • MC, book MC and villain are pretty typical
    • Scaling and progression got so predictable it was boring
    • Most side characters, powers, dungeons are quickly forgotten
Honestly if I had read this book 3-5 years ago I would of enjoyed it more. There are so many better Korean Dungeon novels on the market now that I simply can not recommend this one.

Aah, I really like this book. It is indeed not very "creative" since it uses a lot of well known tropes but it executes the story well and I really like the characters. I also like the bromance lol.

Unfortunately, the manhwa is actually ahead compared to the translate novel. I also can't find the MTL translation or even the raw version. I'm so sad. I want to buy the original but I don't understand korean. ಥ‿ಥ

Your usual transmigrated-into-a-side-character-who-got-killed/disgraced-in-the-OG-source-material-and-becomes-an-OP-MC-trying-to-change-that. Pretty much contains what you might expect from those kinds of novels.

The writing is fast-paced and is quick to the point and though the writing falters sometimes, most of the arcs (to-date) have been interesting enough to keep attention to. The main character is also likeable though the rest of the cast took a while to warm up, in my opinion.

But a glaring peeve this novel keeps repeating is how often the author keeps throwing in unnecessary plot points and consistently flounders them. Like, yeah, this world... more>> is basically one big, collective twitch stream and the gods are its viewers (and I mean that in the most literal sense) but this is normal and you, the reader, should just accept it. And vampires are real, apparently? And the vatican has its own group of demon hunters? And this world apparently has the technology (or, at least, the ability) to interact and even parley with beings from other dimensions? Ah, but this novel ain't about that so don't get your hopes up for an explanation.

All I can say is that this novel is interesting, the protagonist of the novel will do anything to gain what he wants. Like he just won't give a damn unless that person is useful to help his goal

I hope this novel catch-up to the manhwa very soon, it will probably took a long time though, so I won't read this novel anymore until it progresses more than the manhwa

And yes like other comments, this is so gay lmao its not that I'm complaining but it feels like the author originally want to makes BL novel but change their mind a little but still make the character has this s*xual tension between MC and dojin

This is a shounen ai and nothing can convince me otherwise, to give some context: I came over from the manga mainly because of my own curiosity around the topic of what a different medium can offer me (Mangas not listed as yaoi or shounen ai despite having gay undertones in their source material will usually tone things down a lot) Now what do you think will happen when the turned down manga version started out with and I quote in the exact same order:

first text box: "The beautiful... more>> man in front of me.."

second text box: "With eyes that seem to swallow me up.."

third text box: "And those sturdy shoulders and that solidly built body"

fourth text box:" This perfect masterpiece of a man is named Kim Dojin"

[Kim Dojin is the OG protagonist that the MC is currently in the process of admiring, as the manga continued it had the same feel that I got when reading 'The S-classes that I raised' namely the relationship between the MC and his sugar daddy (not his real sugar daddy but he is the main source of money beyond the yandere brother and pet shop) S-classes just like this novel did not state that it was a shounen ai]

TL;DR I expect crazy shenanigans to go down and will be wholly disappointed if it doesn't. Will update when I have finished it

Edit: Ok I know this is early but I just had to say it! They literally said "why the attraction to the opposite gender" ! Although I get the feeling that my bromance desires will not be fulfilled I can already confirm that my prior suspicions were correct; that being the fact that this is way more direct in the BL department then the manga. I can't say much about the pacing and plot (it's basically S-classes but in a different style along with a bunch of other tropes having been either thrown in or changed) not like I can complain, I actively sought out this novel and sat down to read it. Overall I'd say it's good enough for seasoned veterans of the dungeon-hunter genre and for newcomers, if you haven't read s-classes (which I highly recommend) then this will be a good introductory for rookies and for veterans this will have a more nostalgic feel but I have my doubts on whether or not I myself will be able to see a name and say 'OH that's from [insert story name here]" in this case - that goes to S-classes (which I love dearly if you can't tell)

TL;DR 2.0 I still think that this should be a shounen ai and that the story will be better off if the bromance aspect becomes more realized, but I don't think that'll happen. Overall it's a good read if you have enough patience to withstand the PDA <<less

I have no issues with the novel itself, and the manhwa art is very nice. But recently, whenever I've tried to read this novel on here, I get redirected to other sites? This is the only novel I have had this problem with and I'm not sure if anyone else is experiencing this. It is quite literally impossible for me to access any of the chapters right now.

The novel so far is interesting, The MC is not an Op from the start which is more realistic owing to the fact that the OG-body-owner is a weakling. The tension between the MC and Og-MC is soooo gay okay (not like I mind infact I don't mind at all).

The slow growth progress the complexe family relationships the lack of activity on the og-MC side, nah that's not for me to complain about I'm enjoying this novel.

As of now I prefer the Manhwa the artwork is awesome, over the novel... more>> after all the update is stagnant. <<less

I think this novel suffers horribly from webnovel syndrome, where later chapters are almost always worse than the introduction chapters. You can very clearly tell that the author started rushing from a certain point, maybe because they realised how much time and effort it would take to fully flesh out the original plot they planned out. But thanks to the rushing, it's also not very long compared to a typical webnovel, so I think it's worth a read from front to back. If you start disliking the story midway, don't... more>> expect it to get better, though. <<less

It’s a rare thing, but I actually prefer the manhwa to the novel, mostly for clarity. It’s fantastic that Wuxiaworld licenced this story and there are regular updates, but the translation is a bit literal or lazy which makes it confusing at times. Small example, Slaughter Queen in the manhwa vs Slaughterer Queen in the novel.

I guess the main difference in the novel is that you get to read the internal monologues of side characters who are fanboi / fangirling over the MC in their heads.

Deus Ex Machina, unoriginal, forgettable and boring if you have read better Dungeon novels. Come on... it's a snorefest when there is no tension.

Good if you run out of things to read and want to waste some time to entertain yourself.

It's actually pretty good! The premise was so cliché but turns out the novel is rather entertaining.

I honestly love the weird vibe between the MC and the hero returnee. It's because the returnee is the weirdly obsessed one while our MC looks so cool 🤣.

I just like that there's this real emotion in the relationship. An emotion I can feel and understand. Fear mostly if we talk from the MC's perspective... But the thing is MC is weak (in the beginning) and it takes time for him to become stronger.... more>> He grows but it's a slow process and there are plenty more people who can crush him (the obsessed returnee included). So the MC is realistic not just an overpowered jerk with saving the earth complex (the jerk part is all for the returnee to fill)

I'm not mentioning their names in case you have yet to read it so I can leave some surprise for you at least.

It's worth a read I wish there was more. Having said that hwaiting translator team!!! And thank you! <<less
