Ye Xi crossed over into a typical idol romance novel as the villainess.

For the sake of her safety, she decided to distance herself from the male and female protagonists while silently observing their real-life version of a school idol drama. Everyday, she would repeatedly ridicule the main protagonists in her thoughts, along with their group of friends and fans.

It’s not surprising, however, that the male protagonist’s special ability is to hear the voices of other people’s thoughts. So he listened to all kinds of curses that Ye Xi secretly harbored and recorded them one by one.

Expressionless Male Protagonist: the future is long, your debts will slowly be collected.

Ye Xi covers her ears: I’m not listening, not listening, *recites Wang Ba’s Sutras*

The concept looks great and promising but it fails to live up to expectations. Everything was so rushed and incomplete with many irrational and third rate characters. The novel seems to be incomplete since the ending and the female lead loving the male lead make no sense. Also plot armor is strong here, folks.

Spoiler

What doesn’t make sense

  1. ML's power
  2. ML's sister hostility
  3. How and why FL suddenly like the ML
  4. the F4... more like the F2 as the others besides Nan and Wei serves no other purpose than being cannon fodders
  5. how a bunch of high schoolers with deadweights and no training managed to skillfully take down a crime syndicate who supposedly is a whiz at guns
  6. not getting hit by a single bullet

Idk I found it bland and they story about MC and ML was very limited. Their love story was rushed at the end.

It might be because I expected more and it didn't meet those expectations hence I found it okay to read for time pass. Not the novel to reread again.

I confused with the ending. They write that there's another chapter they didn't tanslate yet so I will patiently waiting. The story is bland like no future. The original heroine does not have many scene. The plot seems rush and unstable like the author just randomly trow a bunch of thing. There's a lot of plot hole such as why Zaza can connect with Ye Xi after another novel finish? It doesn't make sense since they not even the same novel. They are not connected at all. The romance feel... more>> too bland and still don't know who An Mudie like. I give 2 stars rating because I personally like An Mudie chara. In this novel I mainly read because of An Mudie. It's fluffy and fun. I went into the story with a certain expectation of where it would go, but it ended up going in a slightly different way. It was a little disappointing, but the story is still pretty enjoyable to read. Nothing special, like the author even forgets about characters, but still enjoyable.

I actually really like this MC. She pulls off the "dense MC" without actually being overboard. Like the things she thinks and the ways she acts is pretty logical and makes sense. It doesn't feel like the... more>> author is forcefully pulling her in a way that makes all the handsome guys love her. It also makes me happy that the OG female lead for once is a good person! Now they're pretty much best friends.

Edit: A big advantage of this story was that it was written to feel semi-realistic. I take that back, it's completely not. Pretty much every single character has no common sense and is s*upid. Putting aside the mindless infatuation over the "princes", the story can't keep itself straight. ML is supposed to be able to read thoughts, but this ability only kicks in when it's convenient for the story. Like the bit where she accidentally goads him into watching p*rn, what??? So dumb... <<less

Cute and humorous story of the 'airhead' MC and the cool thought-listener ML. Because of ML's ability and MC's levelheadedness (at times), there are no s*upid misunderstandings! Could have added more sugar and explored other side stories, but was short and concise, though felt a bit abrupt (especially on romance end).

Spoiler

Especially, was looking forward to the novel impact on the 'real' world, since the author was able to contact the MC, was hoping to see more on that end, instead of a sudden disconnection.

So far it’s pretty good. I’ve been reading a lot of revenge reincarnation novels so something light and idk not deadly is what I was looking for lol. Nothing to major has really happened in the plot as of now, but let’s hope it keeps getting better. If you are looking for something light and not super dramatic and doesn’t require a lot of brain power (as of now)... (lowkey reminds me of the Korean drama boys over flowers but told in a different perspective) then I would recommend this... more>> novel. The translator does an awesome job just like all her other works <3 <<less

Solid 3 stars. It good if you read it by parts. Like the first part. And then the last part. If combined it looked like it came from a diffrent story cuz it was far from eo. The plot has potential, it has a unique way of a transmigrattor and the ML but I think the author lost their way as they wrote this. 1 star for the uniqueness

1 star for the effort

1 star for the trans. Translation is average

This story is not completely translated. Even mtl the story only end but cannot read the extras. Overall not bad. No over sweet fluff. Romance is quite subtle. It’s really a short read. Plotline not much. ML is cute and innocent, but dunno if you can read minds you can’t be that pure. But he can control his ability. MC just cross over after she died, and she can actually communicate with the author, so thats a new angle. Abit disappointed can’t read till the end but this book read... more>> as to pass tme then it’s ok. <<less

Just as the title of the novel suggests the main theme of the novel is the plot of a campus love idol drama with all the clichées that go along with it. However, as the FL is well aware and familiar with all kinds of dog blood developments we get to ridicule them with the FL. So this is a novel which you should not take too seriously.

Overall, the characters are likeable. Some antagonists turn around and become friendly and vice versa. The main leads also experience some character development... more>> which is nice.

The FL while inwardly an adult is lively, a bit silly and has a low EQ, totally lacking self awareness. She even needed external help her break out of her tunnel vision/one-track-mind.

The ML roughly fullfils all the criteria of a idol drama ML, but also differentiates himself from the norm through his ability and simple-mindedness and nativity. Him gradually falling for the FL is actually pretty cute since he did not fall for her through constant bickering as commonly seen in idol dramas. But he rather fell for her by looking at her real self and listening to her inner voice which is vivid, different from what she portrays outwardly.

What was unexpected was the action development and the abrupt ending. There was definitely some questions left unanswered.
Spoiler

Mainly, what happened to Wei Shengliu's opposition to Ye Xi being involved with Wei Shenglan???

I really like the concept and the characters personality. Despite the very much obvious and multiple plotholes this story contains and the randomly inserted action trope (the forest arc), I could see myself coming back to read this story again. The abrupt ending left me with an itch, and I get why so many people enrage and disappointed but thumbs up for the author for this entertaining story and the translator for the wonderful quality of translations. I'll just pretend their story would still continue but the real story just... more>> ran out of characters so the end didn't cover all their future days. <<less

It's more like 2.5 stars but I'll be generous and put 3. It was... okay. There was basically little to no romance, the bit that was there it was at the end, it was rushed and seemed one sided. It was very school life focused up until the 100th or so chapter. Then it went wild before fizzling out in the last 10 chapters of the translation. The ending wasn't translated but I found a MTL of it for closure, so it wasn't very clear but from what I gathered... more>> it was a very abrupt yet bland ending.

It took MC a long time to accept that this fictional world was now her reality and that the people in it, were real people with feelings and not just words. So for a while in the beginning she would repeatedly say something like "this is how such and such scene would play out in a typical drama, I can't wait to watch!" Only for the opposite to happen, usually because ML was like "lol no not gonna do that". I liked her friendship with the OG FL, her talks with the author (though as "God" and seeing the finished chapters ahead of them, couldn't she help out a little more??), the way the group bonded at it's worst moment.

The family members were a joke so I'm glad it mainly focused on the school setting & characters. MC could be the most embarrassing one if I'm honest. Some of her actions/thoughts had me cringing even if her bluntness could be cute at times.

Spoiler

her so called pearls of wisdom are something else. She tries to come off as smart and worldly but she's actually very immature. Even ML compares her to a child playing in mommy's clothes. She makes a bully cry by revealing her insecurities and saying it's not her fault, when in reality would probably make things worse. She asks ML if he's watched p*rn (but using a flowery way to ask) that this innocent confused bun of a boy asks his friend to find it for him (and inadvertently gains an awakening) and she's later shocked when that friend tells her about it, wondering who would ask ML to do such a thing (it was you dumb dumb)

[collapse]

I'll be real, they didn't feel like they had much chemistry. I felt more chemistry from her and his friend than between the two of them. It was ML having some sort of joy from her thoughts, developing into a fondness for her that grew to a one sided love. I say one sided because it seems that she wasn't really sure of her feelings, her feelings didn't seem as sincere. They were honestly just good friends at best.

Spoiler

so like I said around the 100th chapter, it goes from zero to sixty. The friends fall down a slope and instead of try to climb back up or find an easier way back they head deeper into the woods. They're starving and not really thinking going back and forth with staying together & splitting up. Add some armed human traffickors to the mix and you get 2 side character deaths, that was a little shock especially considering how it happened. The guy was hella cold ready to sacrifice his so called crush.

The bad guys try to hunt down the others, ML reveals his gift as well as knowing MC's secret (btw this moment is when she loses contact with the author), bad guys get trapped and robbed of their weapons. Then the kids get into a fire fight with the villains where I kid you not, the kids are so hungry they stop to eat the BBQ. Like okay I'll let the kids being good marksmen go, considering rich kids always seem to have marksmanship lessons at their schools/clubs, but that they'd be dumb enough to be eat mid fight?? They got rescued and the most dramatic thing to happen after that is one of the girls getting a burst appendix (which she didn't get surgery for despite being discharged???) And the leads get together I guess.... like I said I don't know exactly how it ended since I did MTL. There were some holes that were left but none really that I would demand an explanation for.

This is a surprisingly abrupt novel. I think it's biggest merit is that it's short. It can get away with a lot of strange and random things because it doesn't drag on for long.

The premise is interesting. The ML reading the FL's mind has some humorous points. They can both be a bit naive at times, but again, because the novel is short it's not that bothersome. The novel is also very self-aware of it's cliches, a kind of meta humor.

On that note, in some ways I think the interactions... more>> between the FL and the "slag author" of the original novel are some of the best. They also tend to move the plot along a lot and set the FL on the right track.
Spoiler

Such as making the FL aware of how she is treating those around her as novel characters, even though she is part of the world now. This leads to some character development for her.

And the ML's curiosity about who this "slag" she keeps calling and thinking about is pretty funny.

Also, this connection to her previous world provides the FL with a way to settle her feelings for what she has left behind, which is unusual for the genre.

[collapse]

The abruptness majorly rears it's head for the final arc, which I honestly found a bit baffling (this is a major spoiler, by the way) :

Spoiler

The main antagonist, the female villainess who loves the ML, pushes the ML off a cliff. This somehow leads to 5 other people falling also off the cliff (the ML's 3 friends, this other guy, and this B villainess who has been redeeming herself into a side character) like a bunch of dominoes. The FL (the only one who didn't fall off the cliff besides the main villainess), confronts the villainess... and then they both fall off the cliff too.

So you have these 8 rich kids who have fallen off a cliff. Instead of climbing back up, they immediately get lost in the woods, and also split up. FL finds out from the author who calls her that there are some evil human traffickers with guns hiding in the woods. FL, ML, and most of the other lost ducklings meet up and FL tries to covertly lead them away from where the traffickers are hiding.

Villainess and the guy she is traveling with (who likes her). Encounter the traffickers. Both get killed. This bothered me a lot. Yeah, the villainess has done some bad things. And they try to ret-con the guy she is will into being bad by making him try to abandon the villainess when she is captured. But these are high schoolers. They do not deserve to get mu*dered in the woods. It makes the story very randomly dark.

Anyway, the FL finding out they were killed leads to the FL and ML finding out each others secrets. The group has some encounters with the traffickers but somehow manage to escape (due to the traffickers conveniently falling into a hidden pit while chasing them... even the FL finds this too plot convenient).

Somehow they also manage to encounter the other traffickers (who have rescued the ones who fell in the pit) having a BBQ party. These high schoolers attack and shoot all the traffickers with the guns they stole. How did this story turn into Rambo? It's okay though, because they were somehow skilled enough to only get non-vital spots so they don't kill anyone. I can't even.

Then, instead of immediately escaping, they make sure to stop to eat some of the BBQ. This of course leads to some *more* traffickers showing up and shooting at them. At this point I think there are more traffickers than trees in this forest. How big is this gang anyway!? Finally the police show up mid fire fight and rescue them.

There is a lot more nonsense wrapping things up. I will leave that for you to discover on your own if you decide you still want to read the novel after all of this, haha.

[collapse]

Also, while I did appreciate the short length of the novel, it did lead to a few loose ends and some plot points that never really got fully explored. But all in all, as long as you don't take it too seriously (the story is definitely intended to be a bit on the ridiculous side) it's a fun quick read. <<less

...I'm disappointed. Truly disappointed. It has such a good concept but it wasn't fleshed out well. Was I expecting writing skills on the levels of Tolkien? Nope. But I did expect common sense & to not see obvious loopholes all over the place. Where is the struggle about the age difference? Fine, she doesn't act her age anyway so I could overlook it. Also, yes, not everyone acts their age so I'll take it. But she really does not act like the backstory given to her. I will still forgive... more>> it because her thoughts are sort of amusing, if you just want a book to pass the time. I would still have given 4 stars if the ending did not put such a disgusting taste in my mouth.

Spoiler

She avoids ML because he keeps reading her mind & there's a point of conflict but it's suddenly resolved with oh I like him, wow I'm such a proactive lady & I told him not to read so he won't anymore. WHAT NONSENSE.

[collapse]

Also, translation is incomplete as the last chapter was not translated. The MTL is fine so you can read it from the link in the comments. Not that it'll give you any true satisfaction.

The brainhole is truly too big in this. Its true that I wanted a junk read, but the reason people go for junk is because it tasted nice even if it doesn't really do much for nutrition. This didn't even fully fulfil that purpose. <<less

The FL is honestly tiring, she doesn't anything to contribute on the plot. There's no Chemistry with the ML and theFL.

Spoiler

The end feels rushed, we can't see the romance through the story, the FL doesn't see him as a person in any moment. When everything with the human trafficker shows up and kill 2 of their friends they don't feel shock. It feels so cold and once they come back from that traumatic experience they do like anything happend. They aren't sad or anything. Overall, I liked it.

If you are interested in reading this, just be aware thats it's pretty slow paced (except for the ending, it was a rollercoaster out of control)

also, the translation somehow ends on a cliffhanger, I don't know why, they labeled it "end" but it was clearly not done yet

I liked the interaction b/w the MC & the ML

    • Spoiler

at first ML thinks MC is weird, then they slowly start interacting, then he falls.

      [collapse]
    • Spoiler

ML is so innocent OMG, one ch MC talks about forbidden videos (adult vids) and ML just agrees with her not knowing what they were, he asks his friend about it later, he is given a r18 vid, he gets embarrassed, then imagined MC as the lady in the r18 vid

      [collapse]
    • Spoiler

the ending was SUPER rushed in my opinion, MC & a group of friends fall off a cliff, yea that happened, they get lost, split up into groups, MC thinking that was dumb, she goes back and tries to regroup w/ everyone. Everyone gets together except for 2 people. Those 2 meet traffickers and get mu*dered (like they died, but no tears were shed, it was a little mean from my point of view, but y'know, karma is a betch) . At this point I start to scream "wHaT iS goInG oN?!" Bad people start to hunt MC's group, they run away, eventually get rescued by cops (after like surviving for a couple of days in the wilderness) cuz MC's tutor called her parents cuz he didn't get paid

      [collapse]
    • Spoiler

MC & ML somehow start dating? Like it's one of those events where 2 people become a couple but no one knows why? Like prior to the ending / scene where they get together, I felt little to no attraction b/w the 2, it was mostly ML trying to attract MC's attention but lowkey failing cuz he awkward af. It was one of those "I like him but I just didn't notice" scenarios

      [collapse]
the endings weird but I'm not really picky, I'm just a casual reader. Thanks for translators for translating novels.

My feelings when reading this drama are not the best, I expected more from this, I expected more from the protagonists, I finished reading the entire novel and I still do not understand why Lan fell in love with Ye Xi, if it is true that perhaps she was very cold with him and I never take it seriously, with the end they gave him it was all forced, in the end they confess and is that all? I mean, I never saw Ye xi confused by her feelings more... more>> than at the end, all so abruptly, and with those scenes that she shows us of Lan watching "yellow cinema" or her passionate thoughts about Ye xi, one expected more than a clumsy kiss... well... if you like pure dramas, and without passion and not falling in love... well, what are you waiting to read this jewel... I also thank the translators for this great job they have done, it was thanks to you who read good novels, I hope and continue to do so: 3 <<less

Ye Xi gets trapped in a story world after her death in the real world, from there it's about her daily life that gets dragged into dramatic scenes and events. After knowing it's from a novel, she detaches herself by putting titles on people, such as "male lead", "cannon fodder" etc.

So, my original rating is 3.5 bit I'm rounding it up. First of all, the translators have broken the chapters into many parts, so ch98 in translated version is actually ch 32.

Now let's come to the novel. It's a funny novel, no doubt about that. It has made me wheeze from laughing multiple times. But I couldn't feel much development in the romance from the MC's perspective. And I didn't see much character development in her either. In the beginning, we could find background information on her, but later,... more>> the author juat started introducing too many characters and didn't bother developing them at all. Honestly,
Spoiler

I don't know if she'll end up with the original novel's protagonist or not but I feel that she and Nan Gonghai would've made a fun couple. But from the hints in the latest chapter and the synopsis, I guess that's not going to happen. : (

I liked the novel and it helped me pass my time. But there's just way too many loopholes and I don't think it'd be possible to fill those up in the remaining chapters. I'd recommend it if you want some laughs out of the comedy. <<less

The novel had its part of fun and somehow, there was also an unexpected tragedy (not on YX and WSL). This is a HE story.

I like how the characters interact, the comedy when YX beat up NGL, YX's internal monologues etc. It was pretty nice when it had its own pace until it was nearing the finale.
