Fine! Be that way! She could pass her days perfectly well somehow, even if she had to do it alone!

Chu Lian put her household in order, charmed the rest of her new family, and did a little business on the side. She even opened up some new trade routes! Her days passed peacefully and leisurely… Until her dear husband got into trouble at the frontline of the war.

Hmph, isn’t he crawling back to me for help in the end? Forget it, I’ll go save him myself!

The translation was great, this had so much potential but sadly the story was kind of...I quite like the FL, she’s generally a likeable character and I really enjoyed reading about how she made a business for herself. I was really hyped for the romance to kick in but tbh once it did it went downhill. The ML went from (understandably) cold and distrusting to scary mood swings, tantrums and almost rapey at times! Like what??! Couldn’t understand why the FL didn’t get more angry when he was groping her... more>> sleeping body, like SHE NEARLY DIED A FEW MINUTES AGO AND JUST WOKE UP TO THE ML KISSING AND GROPING HER TITS, THATS HELLA TRAUMATISING!! <<less

still only @ chapter 228 but im already dying of frustration...

She’s supposed to be smart for god’s sake so why can’t she realise when are the times she should speak out instead of just hating inside her head god**n.

Pardon my words but she should realise that when dealing with a man blinded by romance like Bojian, it is better to be straightforward and be more outspoken. Ever since her poor attempt of confronting Bojian back in her home estate, I have just been skimming the scenes whenever theres a confrontation between them.

and theres also that thing with whos-our-male-lead-again?

I understand where he’s coming from and that he’s blinded with rage and he’s having a hard time to truly accept that Chu Lian is different from before. His reaction is realistic, I have nothing against it. BUT our dear protagonist...... haah.... Honestly, I’ve skimmed over some parts of the novel that seemed too cliche and mundane so I’m not entirely sure if she’s realized that the male lead is not the single f***ing bit similar to the novel and if she’s already processed that fact but— Again, she should realised that she cant just keep putting aside the fact that her and the male leadms relationship is not doing good. I MEAN THE CHAPTERS WITH THE MALE LEAD JUST SEEM LIKE EXTRAS TO ME. And it just doesnt seem like she has any plans to mend their relationship at all. Like yes I understand, being strangled right on your wedding night isnt nice and isnt too easy to forgive but— if she truly processed that the life she has now is truly her reality, she should realise that nothing good if she just leave he male lead alone in drowning in his speculations. SHE SHOULD REALLY BE TRYING TO MEND HER RELATIONSHIP WITH HIM. God I’m so frustrated... I mean she’s barely even thinking about the male lead now.. like she’s already forgotten him and like she’s only been adopted by the male lead’s family.

Wheres the romance, right now I only see cliche face slapping and cooking stuff and some cringey, frustrating scenes.

Right now I’m only continually reading to see just when the fck will our main lead go back home and when the fck will our protagonist finally slap the reality of things to Bojian cos she just keeps the the fcking things on. <<less

It started out well enough and the middle was fine too although I also dislike the handling of Madam Zou's character and the MC's interaction with her. The stuff that went wrong could have been avoided if the MC wasn't so apathetic about it. Everyone is responsible for themselves but the MC has made some morally questionable choices. Having a flawed character if fine but it also conflicts with how the character is portrayed at other times.

There were some shades of "you can't change destiny" in that there seems to... more>> be some invisible force trying to drive things back toward the plot of the original novel despite the MC's effort which could have been interesting but that seems to have been dropped.

Unfortunately the story takes a nose dive with the arc starting at chapter 625. It takes a couple of chapters to do the dive but it devolves into everyone's favorit C-Novel cliche of drama via misunderstanding. It would have been fine if this was placed earlier in the plot, prior to the couple resolving their position regarding each other. This is basically 25+ chapters of useless filler. Plus because I have paused here until if finished before continuing so I don't know where it will end. This arc alone is enough for me to recommend against reading this if you are reading these reviews to try to decide if you should start. <<less

Well, I liked it a lot at first, but ever since the main couple has gotten together, this novel just frustrates me. The author seriously has no concept of how relationships work, and all these descriptions of supposedly happy marital s*x that are actually kind of rapey leave a sour taste in my mouth. It has also been really dragging out over the final 50 chapters, introducing unneeded misunderstandings and not really any sort of plot climax.

The best of best!

I really like the flow of the stories. The pace is nor too slow nor too fast. Although I don't know how Chu lian can remember so much recipes in her head, but really I do like how people around Chu lian act like a foodies who think nothing than to eat a good food!

This story is hilarious and always makes me hungry. The faceslappings are satisfying too.

I like how ML is soo tsunderee and love his wife and her food.

And the translation is really the best!

The story revolves around a transmigrated woman who's a foodie and her 'lunatic' husband. Well, you can't really blame the MC for jokingly saying that to her husband. Who told him to act so differently from the novel that she read. The MC just wanted to have a peaceful and satisfying life with the ML, yet he's too cold for words!

Turning to the ML's perspective, the reason why he's changed into an iceberg is because he's dead set on taking revenge against his 'wife'!! Turns out, he's been reincarnated.

Both don't... more>> know that their other half has been reincarnated / transmigrated, so they acted the way they did.

Romance is quite slow in this novel so if you want something to happen you'll have to wait for a bit.

Mutual feelings starts at around chapter 283.

However watching their relationship turn from distant enemies to cute sweethearts will be worth the wait. <<less

I actually want to give 1/5, but when I notice that the author write 330 CHAPTERS, I give the author another star for her hardwork.

i really have high expectation when I see this novel ranking (#7 in weekly rank).

the male character is so focused on finding the loophole of his wife' behavior (since the male character is reincarnated), while the wife (AKA main female lead) is busy with cooking....

when I see the synopsis, I thought that the male character will definitely go to army within few first chapters, and until... more>> 82 the main male character was still on the journey to the army....

i thought that it's better to put the genre into COOKING, BAKING, and all those stuff. not really have some spices of romance, both main character also doesnt look smart, the story flows veryyyyy slow..... <<less

Uh this.. Novel is interesting in its own way but all I can say is that not every problem can be solve with food. Author is putting too much luck on using food to solve problem. Like seriously, author, not everyone is a foodie. A lot of nonsensical part every now and then and I find MC is too lucky and she does not have any downs in life. Too much bs.

Take your standard transmigration to the useless xth miss novel and just toss all the usual issues like political scheming and assassins in favor of comic misunderstandings and cooking. I'll be honest when I say I was expecting something else when I saw the title, but I'm enjoying this.

The male lead is natural very confident in his opinion that his wife is an evil woman who is planning to betray him, since he's reincarnated and she betrayed him the previous time.

The female lead meanwhile decides to ignore the plot and... more>> be a happy noble lady. Since she doesn't know the plot like the Male lead and is confused by his behavior. <<less

I've been browsing reincarnation/transmigration novels and so far TMR became one of the most interesting ones.

Basically, the one who Reincarnated was the ML and the MC transmigrated into the MC of a novel she read in the modern world. When they meet, ML just has a big misunderstanding so he is a wee bit rough.

The progress of their love story is reaaaaaly slow.

... more>> Anyways, I love the food porn added to it. Somehow, it makes very big sense to me.

Imagine how horrible it would be if you suddenly enter an era with only cooking, frying, and steaming the only way of cooking food! <<less

The premise: The protagonist is a modern food-lover who awakens in the body of the female lead of the book she was reading. Furthermore, she does so just before the first night with her new husband... who turns out to be compltely different from the nice gentleman she remembers from the book. This is because she didn't finish the book, so she was unaware of the fact that the male lead actually reincarnated, remembering all the crap the original female lead put him through in his first life. Because of... more>> this, he is trying to passive-aggressively get rid of the MC, who in turn just wants to have a simple, carefree life and completely ignores him.

Characters: First have our female MC. She is calm, straightforward, and while she is just a foodie, because this is a fairly straightforward ancient environment, her modern culinary knowledge makes her an incredible cook that shocks everyone. The male lead, on the other hand, is a jaded reincarnator who tries to get rid of her any way he can, which often backfires on him in a hilarious manner. There are also a lot of side-characters, but they are not particularly fleshed out. They generally only exist either to serve as speedbump, to applaud the MC for her culinary skills, or a mixture of the two.

Plot: There isn't much. While there is the underlying push and pull dynamic between the two leads, there is not much of a plot to talk about aside of the heroine trying to avoid the more annoying plot-points from the original book or trying to curry favors from others with her cooking. Speaking of which, don't read this while hungry, as a good third of the chapters are all about people cooking or eating various dishes.

Writing: Generally okay. Aside of the culinary side getting a little tedious at times, the author had a good sense of humor and setting up the characters. Most of the comedy comes from either the male lead's petty, stubborn jabs at the MC (and the ways they often backfire) or the servants and other side-characters misunderstanding the nonchalance of the MC as her coping mechanism and trying their best to cater to her. There is little romance so far, and to be frank, unless the male lead would go through a lot of character-development (and specifically apologizes for almost strangling the MC on their wedding night), I'm afraid things could end up really, really creepy and disturbing.

Translation: Very good, with timebun on Volare actually adding a ton of extra notes and pictures to illustrate the foodstuff and other elements. Kudos for that. However, what infuriates me in turn is that they had the unholy idea to divide up the chapters. The chapters themselves are fairly short to begin with, so more often than not you can end up with 700 words long "chapters", making reading this WN daily completely pointless, like trying to read a webcomic with only one panel released per day.

Summary: This is a decent slice-of-life comedy/food-porn work. However, I recommend reading it in at leas 60 "chapter" chunks, otherwise it is very unsatisfying. <<less

Love this story so far, really looking forward to each new chapter.

The female lead isn't cultivating some incredible martial art, she isn't the world's most insanely talented doctor, but she does have cooking skills that are slightly over powered. For the most part she is a very believable and flawed individual that doesn't come across as unbelievable.

The male lead is a great counter balance. Again, not over powered, not unrealistically emotionless or cold, completely believable.

The story is at times, funny, catchy and witty. A great read.

It started great then it went downhill from there. Too many fillers that it got extremely draggy especially towards the end that I skipped some chapters so I can get to the ending. I wanted to rage quit plenty of times but I just forced myself to at least skim through those boring chapters since I’ve already started reading it.

This by far has the most chapters among my list and made me decide never to pick novels with 500+ chapters again.

Also p I s s e d on how the... more>> MC dealt with the other guy. Makes me wanna transmigrate into the novel and slap the sh I t out of her annoying face. If she handled it well, from the very beginning, like be f c king honest to the ML like a sane functioning woman then I would’ve added one more star. Lol

This was an amazing translation. Much praise to the translator for their effort. The original story is already laxking, what could they do. It was fine-ish up until the husband finally falls in love with her. Mind you, it wasn't without problems. The author's reason for how Chulian can know how to cook so much stuff? Because she is a foodie. That is utter crock. Just because you eat, doesn't mean you automatically know how to cook the food you ate. And it was never described that she was born... more>> a genius with some nonsense god-level tasting skill. She's just a regular woman who has been on gourmet tours, and that's freaking it. That makes no sense and I can't turn off my brain for long enough to disregard it. It was even more rage-inducing when in one chapter the author describes Chulian making "water drop cake" (mizu shingen mochi in Japanese) WITH GLUTINOUS RICE FLOUR. Any idiot with Google on hand shoukd know that the water cake is made of agar, that's why it's transparent. It's impossible to achieve otherwise. I just want to slap the author at that point. All that waxing description of Chulian's cooking, and they make a dumbass mistake like this. The reason is clearly that the writer confused the "mizu shingen mochi" 水信玄餅 with the "shingen mochi" 信玄餅, there's only one character difference. The regular shingen mochi is a regular mochi made with glutinous rice flour. But man, shut up about your character being a foodie if you can't even do the basic decency of Googling the correct recipe. You screw up, your character and story looks s*upid. I was still able to tolerate it so far, but then the drama just got more and more extra. Individually, jealousy and greed are pretty realistic, but when it was all piled up together with the elaborate plots it becomes silly and irritating. If you want over the top stuff, then don't bother with the petty nonsense. It's cheapening the "serious drama". I also don't enjoy plots where characters who originally treats the FL well suddenly turns around and backstabs her just because the writer needs to invent more problems. The romance wasn't very good. Even when Chulian is supoosedly falling in love with the husband, I never got the sense of it. The s*x scenes were more like she just puts up with the husband. I enjoyed her interactions with the princess more.

When Chu Lian turned out to be the long lost daughter of the emperor, I had enough and dropped the series.

All in all pretty good, but during the last 100 chapters I was just so annoyed at BOTH main characters. They didn't talk properly, didn't explain things to each other and I just HATED how the FL was so submissive to ML all the time, letting him do whatever he wanted to her and forgiving him everything just like that ... more>>

(I was beginning to hold a grudge against him on her behalf and anticipated her smacking him thoroughly before forgiving him but NOOO... she forgave him just like that after getting an explanation of his action from a third party after he let her suffer for days because of a misunderstanding... WHYYY??!!)

. She is supposed to be a modern woman and she is supposed to have a strong character but there is no sight of that when it comes to the ML. Maybe it's because I was never seriously in love before that I don't understand but when reading this I wanted to yell at her to speak up for herself (I actually did that...). I just couldn't take it but the plot was interesting so I wanted to read until the end. Seriously, it's rare for a novel to infuriate me this much (to the point where I need to vent my frustration). <<less

A pretty good read, I would give it a 3.5/5.

The development of the relationship between MC and ML was definitely what kept the novel going. ML was an as*hole in the beginning based on how he treated her, but he had his reasons. It was quite funny to see how bewildered MC was about his attitude. All she wanted to was to live a simple, comfortable life with him. While she didn't understand why he treated her the way he did, she also didn't let it affect her and just... more>> continued on living. It was nice to see how her actions slowly changed his mind about her over time and he began to differentiate between the now MC and the MC he thought she was. The romance later on was cute to read, but it wasn't very exciting either. ML is the typical obsessive ML and wants to possess her.

For me, the plot definitely dragged when ML left to go North. I wasn't very interested in MC's restaurant business nor her interactions with his family and skipped some chapters. The political schemes of this novel was quite boring as I wasn't invested in those characters. I did like how she developed friendships with strong female characters though.

The idea of the original soul trying to take revenge was good, but I felt like the author didn't do the storyline justice. She was easily dealt with.

The ending of the book felt very rushed. The last few chapters became a summary of everything that happened.

Her real identity as the Emperor's illegitimate daughter had no affect on the storyline.

The relationships between the side characters also fell flat. <<less

Not the best, but not the worst either.

The premise in interesting. The earlier arcs are fun to read, they are light and entertaining. The people becoming foodies one by one, and they treat MC well as the result. The description of the foods are drool-worthy as well.

However, slowly, the plot is dragged too long it becomes boring, especially for a binge reader. Many unnecessary conflicts happened simply because the author said so. There is no progress, many mature characters surprisingly become idiots as time passes. The resolution is just meh,... more>> nothing too grand nor satisfying. <<less

Slow romance, a right-minded author, a very natural OP, various plots and adventures waiting around every corner. I've enjoyed the read and I have to say that there are not many novels I've read till chapter 600 (Especially a female-oriented reading; since I'm a male). They say a flawless novel is a perfect novel and I would've given 5 stars was it not for the following faulty.

1. Almost every single man in this novel is a meanie. A man, I refer to, is a male aside from the servants of the MC. In other words, any male described 'handsome' and 'sexy' (according to the author) enjoys pushing the MC around to the extent that I got to think that males in that universe are all mental. Examples are the third prince who throws unjust insults to the MC whenever he has the chance. MC's husband who strangled MC's neck from the first day of marriage yet demanding more attention from the MC. MC's bodyguard who abandoned the MC in such a convenient manner that as a result made the MC almost killed, and of course the antagonist who bulges out of the blue storking the MC. The MC i.s really an angel. She doesn't care to tell anyone that she is harassed! Even when the servants see the interaction (bullying), they 'put a smile on their corner of their lips' and think "Oh, madam and master is so lovey-dovey!" What are they, blind?!
2. The second factor is Deux-ex-machinas. The stories are quite forced and I can actually feel the author trying to bend the story to her convenience. For example, the servants in the story are all useless! There's a servant named Weylan (or something like that) sent to keep an eye on the MC in case the MC does something s*upid. Aside from that, the servant was sent as a bodyguard and she herself boasted that she can take up to five men and trained in martial arts. But every time the insane male antagonists do something idiotic or try to harm the MC she fails to protect the MC. But not only her, but every servant are also useless in this story! They're mere background to make all the MLs under the sun to save the day again. The world evolves around the MC to make her even more OP or more like, the author keeps the MC busy.
3. Aside from the background characters, chemistry in romance is also quite forced. The romance scenes mostly consist of the insane male leads harassing the MC. (Funny, haha.) In order to justify the unjust ML (after all what they've done) harassing the MC, the MLS comes to save the MC in every-convenient-moment he could catch. The world of fiction bends itself to give way to the MLs under the sun to save the day. Aside from that, oh yeah, the ML is very 'handsome'! On the other hand, the male leads are attracted to the MC by how well she could cook! Now of course, every normal human Isekai-ed protagonist knows thousands of secret recipes. I'm joking ㅠㅠ. Just keep in mind that this world has a mysterious force; if a male lead is within one-mile radius around the smart MC, the MC suddenly becomes a monkey doing s*upid stuff and the male lead comes to save the day.

And also, the romance scenes are boring as hell. Many readers would agree with me that there is no actual reason for our MC to like the ML, but she likes the ML because of the Deux ex makinas. She acts all wimpy and allows the ML to touch her body. Kiss her. FEEL her, erk. I couldn't care less if the scenes just turn out in every 20 chapters or so, but the ML just could't, nono, the author couldn't wait to start harrassing the FL.

All in all, I believe the author did her best to make the story interesting enough for readers to read through despite the 700 chapters but like all novels, they just couldn't follow the logic of real-life inch by inch. For example I tend to skip the moments when MLs starts to touch and FEEL the MCs body as if they are taken for granted and the MC practically drooling when she sees handsome MLs. I'm sure males would have more respect for females. Those guys practically FEEL the female protagonist for three chapters. Antagonist kisses the female protagonist during her sleep ㅇㅅㅇ

MC, , , blushes? hmm...

The story and the world construction is great but the romance scene since chapter 500 sucked it up. The story would've been better if the author put some consideration in making the MC a bit 'less saint'. Or more like, put the ML's mind into a right state.

'Don't know if it's a difference between the view of men and women but there were times when I just couldn't understand the author. I think the romance is getting unbearable, so I'll quit now. I recommend this read for non-fantasy oriented readers who want satisfying OP experience. If you want to read, read till chapter 500. <<less

Obviously, it was not a perfect story. But Chu Lian is a fun character to follow because she's not too calculative, and she's lazy so she knows when to cut her loses, or where to spend her energy, and I really like that. I can't help but laugh when she laments how people can't leave her alone because she just wants to laze around.

Plus, as a foodie myself, this series is a real treat for me, I got to discover food that I might try in the future.

I am... more>> neutral about romance and is especially lukewarm to He Changdi (ML), I just really followed the series because of Chu Lian, and her interactions with her friends.

I like that some of the villains are not too dumb, and that there are fixed events that she can't change.

Hmmm, what else. You can't help but root for Chu Lian, I guess. Since she's clearly an underdog.

If you're in for romance, this might not be your cup of tea, but if you want to read about underdog stories + foooood, this is for you. <<less
