Plot line was supposed to be good based on summary but I think the way the author wrote how the characters think, act and talk are way too shallow. I can't find the intelligence of the characters especially the FL and there's no rationality why the guys like her. Romance is forced and the supposed to be intelligence and talent of FL is like just being forced for it to happen.

Where is this story even going?

She's supposed to play a song on some zithers so she can go home, but now she's solving a mu*der? And she's actually good at it? Really, using a dog to sniff blood actually worked? There's just so much off about this. Even the solving of the case seems weird and full of questions (okay some of which may be revealed but still).

Cultivating friendships is great, props to the author for that, but in 1 chpt the fragility of those friendships was shown, it was... more>> so easy for the FL to be alone again. I'm just really confused.

Just, can we get back to some plot, or is this how the story will be going forward? I can feel myself losing interest. <<less

I didn't expect it to go the way it did that's why I rated it a 3. The protagonist seems level-headed and it started off well but then it turned into her investigating a crime. True, she wanted to clear her name but I found the circumstance strange for some reason especially since the ten guqin are supposed to be her main focus.

I'm also wondering what the author has planned because she's spending more time with a man who's obviously not the leading guy judging by the summary. Then again,... more>> it's still early on and things might twist in a certain way that would explain things so far. Will edit as I get further into the story. <<less

This novel started well. I like how the FL acted/reacted in a realistic manner, like how a (level-headed) person from the future would think and feel being thrown back into the ancient times (of a parallel world). Though many things are yet to happen and unfold, but for me it began nicely. Kudos to volarenovels and translator for bringing this up.

It’s not the best story but it’s not unbearably bad.

Mary Sue Protag; She can play the zither, solve mu*der mysteries, make strong wines, and solve mysterious illnesses by instantly realizing it was caused by water contamination.

Doesn’t make much sense overall, just a smooth paved road for a female protag.

Hm...I dunno what to say. This is the first time I read transmigration Novel with a strange and funny plots... Finding 10 Guqin so she could get back to her own world and body???? Not only that... She has to play a modern songs??? I become speechless. Doesn't make sense overall.

I felt like everything that happened, it's because the author said so.

Read the first chapter and I dunno if I should continue reading it... But probably I should give it a try, coz I love volarenovels (read many of their... more>> translations and so far love them)... Thank you volarenovels for your hard work.. GBU <<less

I followed the story because I liked the guqin and mission part, and how she's so insistent on going home rather than just accepting the new life like most other transmigration MCs. However, the farther you read into the story, the more glaring plot holes there are. Characters behave nonsensical, key events get skipped, and most importantly the MC is so dumb it's unbelievable.

Spoiler

people in the story described her as level-headed, calm, intelligent, etc. When the majority of the time she behaved s*upidly, getting caught in bad characters' traps, going to places without guards or maids despite getting into troubles all the time because of it, randomly shooting her mouth off at people in supposedly "clever" comebacks that just seemed like common insults, defying authorities, getting angry when the ML helped her, etc. She justified her s*upid actions as her being from a modern world, but if she was as intelligent and poised as the author made her to be, she should be acting within her role in society to not create troubles that the ML had to solve. What doesn't make sense is despite the ancient China setting, how much freedom she has or power the ML has. For example, the time when she outright defy the emperor using "family rules" as an excuse makes so little sense in the context, and how she hadn't implicated her entire family when given the time period they could all be executed. And of course both her love interests are there to always protect her and fish her out of trouble, only to have her be angry that they meddle in her affairs. It really doesn't make any sense how they like her if all she had done was being a spoiled brat and lamenting her fate. It seemed that the MC has a Mary Sue halo around her despite not being overpowered or intelligent.

[collapse]

And that is why I'm going to stop reading this badly written novel. <<less

At first, this novel started out pretty ok, but as you read, more and more things don’t add up:

1. The mission for her to return to her world itself doesn’t really make sense, since it seems kind of pointless but it’s acceptable in the case that there may be more to it than what meets the eye

2. For a period of time, she becomes Sherlock Holmes or some Nancy drew when she graduated with a degree on business- and it works for some reason or another, but even this type... more>> of detail can be looked over on- but the third point makes me The most mad

3. I’m all for the shortening of unimportant events and skipping over some things that are important, but this novel skips out on a bunch of events that could have been possible to expand upon

1. She has a lunch with the ML, and implies that some stuff happened, but it just gets skipped over

2. The whole arc was dedicated to finding the zither (part of her mission) and playing it, but it doesn’t even show the event- all she said was that she played it and gave it back- nothing else. The author has such choppy writing that everything is all over the place

4. The relationships she has doesn’t really make sense and a lot of the actions made by her friends are s*upid

One of the only things I like about this novel is that it’s pretty realistic in how she is supposed to feel in terms of being in a new environment and missing her family and life, but I had to drop it since I kept getting frustrated in how it was written. Since I only read until chapter 33ish, maybe some things changed and they were addressed, but I’m never gonna know. <<less

This is worse transmigration novel that I read. First time in feel to kick that idiot MC back to 21 st century. She such a disgrace to women in 21 st century. Super selfish, Super like to give people trouble without feeling guilty. Like whole world owned to her.

Worse of all she kiss ML later act like nothing happened. Sleep with him but don’t to marriage him. After realising cannot go back to 21st century ready. Finally she shameless clung to ML.

If you like to read book that brainless, selfish,... more>> trouble attracting MC this is the one and only. <<less

I usually check out all Volare's works as they usually take on good stories and their translations are top notch. This story unfortunately, lacks depth and isn't very well thought out.

The reason I continued reading is because it is a transmigration story sans the typical revenge/scheming plot and the annoying cannon fodders. I also came to like FL's group of friends. You can enjoy it if you don't take it too seriously. Just follow the FL as she navigates her new life, makes friends and tries to complete her 'Mission'... more>> in order to go back to the 21st century.

The romance isn't well fleshed out and the chemistry between the leads is quite lukewarm. I find it funny that the author takes time to set up various romantic scenes only to time-skip and leave readers hanging. Why?? I'm so puzzled by the author's writings. Very little elaborations and details are given, we are left to imagine and fill in the blanks ourselves. Lol. It's like baking a cake but not being able to eat it. So frustrating. So if you're looking to read passionate/ fluffy interactions, you will be disappointed like me. <<less

I actually registered for an account just to write a review because.. this story is just too full of plot holes!

The characters rationale are never fully explained, I can’t understand the reactions & purpose of side characters or their intentions or motives.

At the chrysanthemum gathering, MC plays the zither endlessly to drag for time, So that others can develop their plan. And in the end the side characters plan was.. just to make a statement. Then why did MC have to drag for time? They’re not waiting for anything or... more>> anyone to show up, the situation was super easily resolved just by side character saying “oh she has someone else in mind”. Huh???

Then, MC goes on a trip to the North with one of the ML. Alone. Staying in a camp with all men. Only woman. And her parents actually approved the trip. Oh, and there’s no purpose for the trip, just that she wants to travel & see the dessert. Really? They can do that in that supposedly conservative society? And with the guy her father specifically barred her from getting close to?

soooooo many things don’t make sense, MC seems depressed all the time, situations are hinted to be complicated & deep but then easily resolved... honestly I’ve never read something with so many holes! <<less

Kudos to the translators who did a wonderful job, unfortunately I don't think the novel was worth the time. The novel isn't bad not great, an average mediocre one.

The starting concept is, in theory, catchy: a transmigrator who can actually go back to her world if she completes a series of tasks. Unfortunately, the execution is very poorly done: from the very first chapter when it is explained how she could go back, it is CLEAR that it is not true, I am not talking about little foreshadowing, it's like... more>> the author wanted to state clearly that obviously that's not gonna happen. So, what's the point of creating this plot if the reader doesn't doubt for a second that she has no chance to go back, it doesn't make sense and lower considerably the quality of this book. Maybe the author wanted to show a tragedy: a naive character who tries her best to complete this quest while the reader knows that all her efforts are for nothing, but I honestly don't think so. Maybe a bit harsh but I was expecting more, the translator introduced the novel as an original, captivating one but there is not a single point that is original, if we remove this “fantasy” quest, we have the usual reincarnation plot with a naive, but-every-one-loves-her MC, a ML who is cold and blind towards all women expect but loving and loyal towards our MC because she is special and different (why?), some political schemes and a couple of decently personalized side characters.

The novel feels also shallow as the MC and ML lack chemistry and there is a general sense of rush, many scenes are skipped over, even the scenes of completion of the quest are anti climatic and often summarized in a sentence which, again, points out how the all quest-device is nonsensical and badly constructed.

The saving points of the novel is the friendship between the MC and a female character which is unusual in this type of novel and the short length of 200 chapters. <<less

If you want to read this novel, the first thing you need to do is read the title. I mean really read it. Let it sink into your brain. Because that's what the story is about.

If you go in reading expecting this to be like "the typical OP female MC reincarnation" story then you will be disappointed. Because the story is less about face slapping and hugging golden thighs and more about... well... "mysteries and songs".

I gave it a 3 because I went in expecting the more typical fare (with... more>> the super OP MC going around face slapping and whatnot) but came out disappointed - it's not really fair since the title warned me and all but it's how I felt about it. So now I'm writing this review to warn you, other potential readers, read the title! That's what the story is about! Even if it has to bend the rules and subvert what a reader might expect from an ancient society to make things work... it's ok! Because the title told us that was what the story was gonna be! <<less

At first I thought this novel was okay, but slowly I started to find the MC quite annoying, extremely selfish and fickle and not much brain power to speak of.

She's supposed to mentally be 24, which is an age where one would expect her to know how a society works, but even reincarnating as a 17 years old girl, she behaves like a wilful child.

Her goal is to return to her world and the 21st century and to do that she has to complete a certain quest (though it's heavily... more>> implied from the very first chapter that there's something wrong with the quest). In the beginning it was a fresh idea created by the author, a little weird and illogical, but nevertheless an acceptable method to fuel the storyline. However, I feel that it slowly became a shackle of some sort to the MC's growth as a person and often found myself wanting to scream at her: "Pull your self together, woman!"

I can somehow understand why the novel only lasted for 203 chapters, but I don't know if I even have the patience to last until the last chapter. <<less

The reviews are two extremes, either you love it, or hate it I guess.

It's not your typical transmigration novel where she lives either had to adhere to a story plot to stay safe or away.

It doesn't involve typical hug the golden male thigh but the situation still favors her in certain situations. Well, she is the MC.

Spoiler

But she has a mission to undertake so she can go back to her own world. This is where the tricky part of the author wrote as the phantom still doesn't explain to her about everything. The frustrating part is she didn't reciprocate Situ at all! Arghhhh

The more I read this story the more I like it. It seems a bit of a reach sometimes with the plot. But I love her time with Situ. He is a great lead that lets his love interest shine whenever he can and protects her in plain sight and secretly. He is okay with her strange ideas and thoughts and appreciates the freshness she brings to his life. I hate how the emperor is all about arranging peoples lives and he is the main culprit to Situ being unable... more>> to achieve is goals right now. At least that is my thoughts so far. I think it has so slow spots but it has some great lines and is not the same same as many other stories.

Big Thanks to Volare for bringing us so much good meat. <<less

Not your usual transmigration story. The FL is very realistic and independent, she knows her ultimate goal is to return to the 21st century, yet she feels conflicted after meeting the ML and making friends.

There were times when I was very frustrated with her and just wanted her to stay, but I could understand. I feel like if I was in her position and I knew I had a way to go home, I would make the same decisions as her.
Spoiler

The fact that she really couldn't go back in the end was a bit of a disappointment, I felt the story would have been stronger if she made the choice to stay instead.

[collapse]

I quite enjoyed the political drama. I felt like the motivations and plotting of the characters made sense and the actions/reactions of each imperial prince and the Emperor himself was fitting. There are a lot of twists and turns.

The translation is superb! Props to the translators. I would say 3.5/5. It's not quite at 4, but the story is interesting enough to make you want to keep on reading.

I agree that the FL is selfish, but she is also decisive most of the time which is the most admirable trait of her that I like. Because despite her selfishness, she was ready to accept the consequences of her actions and was focused on her goal even at the cost of heartache and her sanity.

The story is amazing. Be it the romance or the political intrigue.

The start was interesting but the author had some mystery investigation and we don't escapet the basic groupe of hateful girl trying to kill the MC because of jealousy. It's just disgusting while you already readit time and times again (aka in all novel with femal MC).

I grew tired of reading it. Good luck !
