Qin Mian opened his eyes and found himself lying in a leaky thatched room. The problem was that he was still in his family’s villa beforehand! What’s more, another man was lying next to his leg in the quilt!

The man sat up quietly, his upper body exposed as looked at Qin Mian for a moment before he carried a worn-out bowl with a cracked corner from the low table at the head of the bed. The man said in a muffled voice, “Wife, drink water.”

Title explanation: 勉为其男 [miǎn wéi qí nán] have the same sound as 勉为其难 [miǎn wéi qí nán] which means to do something reluctantly. 勉 [miǎn] is also part of MC’s name: Qin Mian. Also, 其[qí ] sounds the same as 妻 [qi] means wife. So, there are words plays. Basically, Qin Mian reluctantly becomes someone’s man [wife] after he transmigrated.

A man died and transmigrated into ancient era, got married, his husband was hte face parlysis type and a general too, then giving birth (kinda) to twin. Of course MC had his golden finger as the ultimate cheat, the miracle storage space. Oh dont forget, two parents, brother and sister in law with abusive attitude, money oriented mind, and s*upid mindset. Also couple of smart beasts as pet. Live in village. Then, went to the capital, war with neirborhood kingdom, politics, royals.

That plot has been writen so many times, yet... more>> I dont feel bored to read it in this story.

Overall, this is more simple than the other novel with the same plot above LOL at least, this one ended in 222chapters, with few characters, small problems, even the face slapping are done simple. If there's one thing I'm not satisfied is the cultivation part. Like, wth author? No need to make your characters all OP. <<less

Well paced and cute couple that got along very well. The kids were very adorable but also seemed super perfect and too likable but it wasn't a bad thing.

The start of the first couple's relationship was a bit ick since one was forced into marrying due to a fortune teller and his evil stepmom and dad. The other was forced due to his brother almost killing him and escaping s*avery. It was concerning since ML sort of kept MC captive for a bit because he didn't want to be alone anymore. Understandable but still wrong to do.

Some comments on the MC's new appearance did leave much to be desired. The original Mian was seen as cowardly and ugly due to being scared of ML and being sunburnt (making him dark). But when MC comes he gets lighter and isn't a "coward" so ML is interested now. Sure, MC is courageous but the OG Mian escaped s*avery and kept fighting until the very end. And how wouldn't he be afraid if he suddenly wakes up after escaping his s*aver, and before that having escaped kidnappers and assassins, that he was now married to a man that looks dangerous. ML has a scar and has a fighter's energy so it's easy for a child who has been abused to fear him. I felt that OG Mian was undermined a lot. Other than this, I generally liked and enjoy the slow paced story.

The imperial family was a mess and low key unnecessary. The second couple was interesting because of the set up. The gong has a kid prior to meeting the shou and the shou needed to have a child to continue the bloodline but the gong wouldn't allow him to marry. I don't remember well if the gong's wife died or what happened but I think I was mad at this for a while but then it was resolved well so I wished them the best. But it could make some readers angry.

I liked it and read everything in three days 🤣🤣🤣 however, just because it's entertaining doesn't mean it's perfect. There are many holes in the plot, you can tell that everything was done on the fly and there was no planning/direction of what the author wanted to get to 🤔It's a bit frustrating to see how she changes gender in the different arcs, there are a lot of loose ends and unresolved things. There are things that are interesting and that were only superficially addressed, left aside or explained much... more>> later (let's start with space, ML's past and MC's family, all these events could have been more interesting and developed better, but they remained only as meh)... There are also some questionable things like Mu Chen's secondary partner "try", good try, bad execution... The secondary characters are weak and for my taste, the exploration of the world was meh... in general it's ok, the buns are adorable and they had good communication as a couple, at least that's enough.... Although they really had to leave the issue of cultivation so out in the open? MC was supposed to be the one with the golden finger BUT as it progresses they only confirm that it was ML who had the golden finger 🤦 There are many other things and I think it could have ended sooner if they were going to give superficial explanations anyway, The only thing that bothers me is that ML's family was always involved for better or worse, and MC's family is gloriously left out, Even if he wasn't the real QM and had no memories, he could have empathize with the original family but no, he decided they were "troublemakers" and didn't even approach them, heck at least pay your respects once for the original QM! And again, was it necessary to say goodbye to your original father like that? Even if you hate it there are things that shouldn't be said, WTF with cultivation... Finally, it was nonsense that "I should not interfere for heavenly retribution" 🙃Honey, you interrupted everything since you self-helped with the space and the spring water 🙄 Anyway, it's still entertaining despite all the twists and turns, the rest of the plot holes are left to the reader's imagination.

Pd: QM made good on keeping his man, at least in the last arc, LT was a salty heavy 🤣🤣🤣 <<less

This story is for readers who enjoy these tags: historical, transmigration, love after marriage, married and have children trope, doting male lead, martial arts, some political arcs, kingdom building-esqe, older love interests (like in the novel "joyful reunion". Recommend if you like, "the general loves to collect little red flowers' ', and "tyrant pampering wife diary". This novel does not include too much dogblood. Recommend if you enjoy the historical/ancient settings arcs in Quick Transmigration novels, the historical accuracy is not too accurate, but it is fun to read.

I had read it a long time ago but I still till date remember it's details shows that it was an impressive story at least for me.

I quite liked it very much, but it had a lot of drama, and familial conflicts.

I loved the MC and ML they were really good together, especially ML he was way too caring.

... more>> I loved their children so much they were way too damn cute.

It's a fantasy genre theme including cultivation and space, do if it's ur type u should go through it.

And if ur hesitating due the amount of chapters, I suggest you read it first, after starting you won't feel that the chapters are too much.

It's a very good slice of life novel. Pretty common trope, but very enjoyable to read. A transmigrator from modern world with a magic space doing farming, being an "inventor", slowly become a successful merchant in ancient times. The family drama is interesting enough. Annoying relatives, mother-in-law, villagers, etc. Even though sometimes the story lacks common sense but everyone in the village feels alive, really reminds me of the time I visited my grandparents in rural village.

Farming life, cooking, managing restaurants and shops, there's even politics and imperial court drama.... more>> It's all really written well. It's not perfect tho, there are plot holes and forgotten minor characters, but all in all it's a good and complete story. Though I noticed the ending was kinda abrupt and lowkey lazy, the author really wanted to end things quickly lmao. There's no extra which is kinda sad. Finishing the story surprisingly left a little hole in my heart, I'm gonna miss reading this for the first time again.

I absolutely love the children they're sensible, smart, and adorable. It's not really an mpreg, it's... well, whatever. Just don't think too much of the pregnancy process lmao <<less

4.8 stars. I would probably read it again in the future. I didn't want it to end.

-0.2 stars - I didn't like the way the author just censured a few facts while telling the story. I just thought it could've been done with a little more finesse, instead of plainly saying [story omitted].

i really like this novel. I binged almost 100 chapters in one night.

although I was pretty uncomfortable with the fact that MC was 14 when he got married, but no romance happened, so I was okay with it for a while. but it did begin at 15-16 and I was like "ehhh"... but MC mentally is older than ML and he doesn't behave childishly at all, so it was sort of easy to overlook.

it's really a pretty casual read. it's slice of life and you get to see the MC... more>> and ML work from rags to riches and develop their relationship together. let me just say that the ML doesn't talk much but he is actually SO sweet. ML doesn't force anything and he's very reserved, but he's not emotionless. I love the relationship between the ML and MC, they're so respectful of each other. their banter is so cute and they really do act like a married couple after their relationship is established. the romance is DEFINITELY there, and the tiny details are so sweet. MC brings ML meals when he works, ML will massage MC when he's sore, etc. ML will go anywhere as long as MC is with him, which is how important they are to each other, but it's not the point where he's obsessively controlling or possessive, and MC never belittles him either, just playful teasing. their life is really fun to read because everything they do is in details- the recipes of the food they make, their plans for business, the interior design of the house, etc. the descriptions of the food make me so hungry :')

there's family drama and business negotiations that make up about 70% of the plot. so although I kept reading because I was interested in how things would turn out, the main question that I was itching to see answered was who is ml, and what was his past like? it takes like 80 or so chapters to get to this question though, so it's a bit slowburn-ish. still, 100 chapters in, his past isn't revealed- MC knows but the READERS don't ;_; so I'm excited to see what's up. about the family drama- the characters aren't one-dimensional, some of them do mature and get character development, which is nice. the antagonists behave a lot like my irl extended family, so there's that lol.

some aspects I felt could be improved upon is the space. I felt like it was so incredibly random and threw me off a bit. not only that, but it's really overpowered, MC can basically survive anywhere he goes as long as he has his space. I also had difficulty visualizing what it looked like when he went inside the space. and like many other novels with the same theme, I also felt like the MC accepted his fate after transmigrating a little too easily... but I guess you could just say he fit right in????? <<less

I love this novel so so much! The MC and ML are really awesome and the two kids are the most adorable existances in the world!

But the best thing about this story is that the characters have a life of their own. More often than not, we find 2d extras as characters in novels, but I loved how here, they felt like real people and I can't appreciate that enough.

Finally, props to the translator. It's really a job well done!

If there's anything to be wary of it would be the "wife" call, which is how the ML refers to the MC most of the time, but this is an older novel and the MC sort of ended up getting used to it, treating it as a nickname. Of course, if it's something that is super icky for you then unfortunately this is just not for you. This is not mpreg (?) But there are buns involved. MC is also not super feminine, and is actually quite quick on his feet and strong.

Tldr: novel about a modern man applying his knowledge to build businesses in ancient times, with his devoted husband by his side.

Ps: of course, everything I write is my opinion, and doesn't apply to everyone. <<less

Not too bad. This novel is made to pass time.

It's mostly a slice of life story which focuses of the MC & ML getting rich in ancient time while trying not to be taken advantaged of by unreasonable relatives.

To be honest, I'm very tired of this trope. Quarrels with relatives doesn't really serve this story. It's the only conflict and it's frustrating to read.

I enjoyed reading this story so much 😩❤️ The whole journey with their family just makes my heart feel full and warm. There might be some inconsistencies in the story itself but I just love reading the characters' daily life. I will definitely read this again!

One of my favourites.. it's very well written..I have read it again and again yet I still love it... and the plots, twists and storyline is also very good.. the children are so cute and intelligent.. It was sudden when they went to modern times.. but I more liked it in ancient times..I don't how to describe this novel but I really liked it very much.. It was an excellent experience..

Honestly this was a very nice read 9 out of 10 for me. Very wholesome and funny, kinda sad it finished. A great story to read during your free time. The elders where very annoying throughout the story tho so I’ll remove a point. Glad they got what they deserved in the end :)

If I have a complaint, is that it didn't last longer.

Absolutely recommended, enjoyable, addictive, very good translation, with wonderful interactions between the protagonist and well thought plot on each volume. Bringing a smile on my face from time to time, maybe a lot often than I realized

Just go on and read it.

It's good, almost every genre commonly correlated with transmigration is in here. The flow was a bit common wherein the couple were poor, then they got rich, then they went to the capital though of course, there were unique parts. I think that this is very interesting and cute though I found all those long food descriptions excessive and boring. I also like the process on how the MC and ML's relationship developed. My favorite were the interactions among the couple, the twins, and White Spot and the gang.

I WANT MOREEEEE!!! This was soooo good it was like every genre stuffed into one novel. From their humble beginnings to their glorious ending it was all so entertaining to read. Kinda gutted about some plot holes and the rushed ending. The relationship between MC and ML was very cute and harmonious (not quite sure of my stance on the weird age thing). I personally love stories that let you see and follow the character growth and development. The twins were extremely adorable.😭😭💖💖💖

I jumped off the train just as the couple got on the carriage towards the imperial city. From all the comments, I'm glad I did because if this is a 5 or 7 volume novel, I won't be buying that last one.

The last arc is just not worth it. The ML suddenly developed a Grand Past. The MC, who has already changed his character genre twice was getting another unnecessary upgrade.

So, nope.

Just don't bother hopping onto that carriage. I just can't keep suspending my disbelief anymore.

This was pretty weird, it jumps around and just does anything to make life easy for the protagonists, everything goes their way and everyone who offends them kinda destroy themselves.

I just read through everything to find out if they'll look back to what Second uncle's family ends up like after many years.

Second uncle went to jail, his wife died, and his children were shipped off to the maternal relatives. I wanted to know what happens when he gets out of jail or what his rotten children will grow up to be like.

Sidenote, I don't like that the vicious women all died and the bast@rd men kinda don't. Female presence is weak. We never see Chuntao again after she got married though they were quite close back in the village. Wei shi was also not very successful despite her wits, because of her wisdom, I expected her to do better! I thought she'd learn to do business and be able to get close to MC-ML.

The deaths are not proportional to their wrongs to MCs and they brought their downfalls to themselves, so it's not very satisfying.

  • Du Shi died instantly, but she was the one who tormented ML and does many tricks to MC.
  • Zhao Shi was just annoying and shameless, she didn't rly deserve to die (she angered herself to death),
  • Princess Yanqing died horribly after political marriage, initiating a war, she was just a spoilt princess forcing ML to marry her and she can't do that anymore unless she didn't want her reputation.

yeah the princess made things difficult for MC during two countries' competition, but MC's a wife in status so he wouldn't normally bear the weight of the country. That'd fall to the 'lords' in the room, if he wants to he can deflect the question.

Also, it's not right to assume ancient people are not good mathematicians. In fact they are better problem solvers because they were the origins of our theorems and formulas. They don't have entertainment so what else would they do except challenge each other in brain twisters? So the last hard question MC posed is not actually that hard, he should have made them count the volume of a sphere.

When there's a new arc or plot point, the story dived wholeheartedly in with no intention of looking back. The twists are sudden and weak, not to make the story more interesting, just to pile more things to make MC-ML's life better (they have hidden past storyline, okay, did it have to be so OP and be so removed from the first arc?)

The chapters are long paragraphs about nothing. No offence to the author or translator.

The ending of the story suddenly takes them to the modern world where Mian came from, it's pretty sudden, they spent quite a bit of time there, and even revenged the person who harmed Mian in the beginning. Then they go back again to the ancient world. I just think it's weird that it's suddenly modern world and for some.. Random reason.

When they're in capital, the stores that were so big in their lives became so minimal. There's no trouble or anything back home. The officials also never managed to make things difficult for MC-ML, they always come on top.

I even thought it'd settle down to modern world because they adapted to the world and even makes long term commitments, but they still came back, phew. If the story had ended in modern world it'll ruin it for me. DUDE! The village! The stores! Their houses! Their friends and family back home! Update us on those things! He already transmigrated, no need to transport the whole family out, just share your memory!

I was reading it, like, for a whole month :) It was very meditative. Something sweet and comforting if you need to have a respite from angst. I started lots of novels with the same premise (the MC transmigrating into the ancient times and sorting out everyone) but I usually lost interest after a while because they got too repetitive. I won't say this one wasn't repetitive but - it was fun. Probably because both Qin Mian and Lei Tie are such bright and strong personalities. Especially Qin Mian -... more>> both cool and hilarious. And
