Transmigrating Into The Heartthrob’s Cannon Fodder Childhood Friend

Description

The protagonist shou, Xie Sui, was a proud son of heaven. He had an illustrious family background, was cold and removed from desire, and attracted many (psychopathic) admirers. From the gentle senior to the paranoid president, to the haughty and proud arch-enemy, these big guys were all top leaders of their respective fields, yet they were all crazy about him.

After pushing him down a series of mentally and physically abusive paths, the three of them decided to join hands to destroy the Xie Family, imprison Xie Sui, crush his pride, and turn him into a pet that could only rely on them.

While the crowd of readers howled “Wuwuwu the feels~”.

Song Yu was already so angry he was going crazy. Not wanting to read any more of this eye-searingly bad novel, he cursed, “Idiots.” and hurried offline.

As a result, when he woke up, he’d transmigrated.

He’d transmigrated to become the Third Young Master of the Song Family in the novel, who had only been briefly mentioned in passing, would die of a terminal illness, and was Xie Sui’s childhood friend.

Song Yu was terribly upset. At the same time, he’d already come to a decision in his heart––those three idiots, had better not think about wanting to get close to his little childhood friend!

Xie Sui was born cold-hearted. In two lifetimes, he’d never tasted the sweetness of love, nor had he ever experienced the feeling of being protected.

After destroying three big families and personally killing his enemies, he was reborn back to when he was 15 years old. He had to hide the violence and coldness in his heart and pretend to be the youth with a gentle and clean appearance that he’d been in the past.

Everything was the same as before, except that the little childhood friend who was nothing but a vague memory in his previous life was exceptionally different this time.

Like the spring breeze that thawed the frozen soil, someone reached into the abyss and grabbed his blood-stained hand.

Song Yu tore apart a love confession letter like he was venting and fumed, “Don’t pay attention to those people, don’t believe in their sweet words. They’re all scum, and their love is worthless. Don’t like them, okay?”

Xie Sui gazed at him for a long time, then laughed, “Alright, I don’t like them.”

I only like you.

10/10 for everything.

This is literally one of the best school type novels I've ever read and the comedy is absolutely gold.

I was so sad when I finished because it was so good I MTL'ed it since I couldn't wait.

MC is literally one of my all time favourites ever and I'll never find one as heartwarming as this novel.

Since the tag is already said it's a high school love story, so don't expect some classic adult conspiracy and trickery, or mature romance here.

Looking from the plot:

It's refreshing.

... more>> t's been so long I have read a web novel, especially one with the modern high school romance premise. I have forgotten the feeling of being a high-schooler, only worrying about grades, the jokes between friends, the relationship between one student and another, etc.

Some high school romance I encountered before surprisingly had malicious, and disgusting plot of adult life. It's dull, and unable to pull me to appreciate the youth energy and the teenager life.

This novel, and one other novel that is Fake Slacker, really can present the readers especially old readers to reminisce about their high-school time once again.

The characters:

Are interesting.

The characteristic of the ML and MC are not the typical Gong and Shou in BL novel. When typical Gong would be the strong, described with extreme good looks, and super masculine body, and the Shou would be feminine or cute.

The MC (shou) 's personality is interesting. To be honest, his personality really is like a typical and traditional straight and normal guy in real life. The kind of guy who would be "brothers first before girlfriend". The kind of guy who would rather go to the internet cafe, play games, going out with the group of friends, rather than indulging in romances or conspiracies.

The ML and MC here are just described as merely high-schooler. Their looks didn't really get exaggerated by describing one by one and repeatedly like some other novel, that it makes the readers fed up. I appreciate the BL novel where the Shou didn't really got to be beautified, or desribed to be so girly.

They were just a good looking Asian Male, with the average proportion of Asian teenager.

Conflicts and Ending:

The conflicts are not that complicated, but it's also interesting. To be honest, their conflict are things we can imagine truly did happen in real life.

While the ending..., well, because this fics is also kind of slice of life, then there's not much of a peak conflict, therefore the Ending is also not that mindblowing.

All in all, it's worth reading in Weekend, to spend the time. <<less

It's a well written romantic comedy that wraps up nicely. MC (Song Yu) and ML (Xie Sui) are relationship goals - not only do they have a similar sense of humour, they communicate and overcome adversary together. Also the dialogue and cast are amazing. The comedic timing and execution is done so well, the inside jokes will make you laugh, and most of the characters come to life. Highly recommend!

On the surface we get a sweet summer high school romance of mature 15 year old teenagers (they're both adults mentally... more>> so they handle stress well). There's nooooo unnecessary drama :)

MC = childhood sweetheart AKA Your Husband Brother Yu: Yuyu is my favourite protagonist!
Spoiler

He's also the original Song Yu. Due to being protected by Xie Sui's love, he can't be controlled or destroyed so 008 transmigrated his soul to another world and tampers his memory

[collapse]

The world is fleshed out by its supporting characters: I enjoy Song Yu's interactions with his friends and family - it's all natural beyond moving the plot along. I also look forward to Song Yu browsing the forums when he's bored and reading the posts alongside him. His friends and classmates also compliment his life and the story itself because they're interesting. Example: Classmate Jiang: at first you'd think she was a just a female passerby "flirting" with the ML when she asked a question about the domain.
Spoiler

But she's actually a fujoshi and the most supportive and biggest shipper of ML & MC and got all excited how ML was like "I only answer Lagrange questions" (inside joke with ML and MC). She wrote a FANFIC that in a game of truth or dare, her best friend got revenge on her by daring Xie Sui (ML) to re-enact a scene from that fanfic. Things got heated that's for sure hahahaha

[collapse]

The villains weren't annoying. They're lucky if MC deals with them, they're very unlucky if ruthless ML does. MC's revenge is TAME in comparison to what ML has in store.

ML: Xie Sui (MTL = Thank God) "Proud Son of Heaven", "Protagonist Shou in Gentle Control". (More likely to be Gong) He takes advantage of the situation to suit him
Spoiler

(1) tricks Song Yu to repeat the word "husband" a couple of times. (2) Acts innocent after beating up scum gong #1. (3) When there was a blackout and MC accidentally kisses him - he uses his tongue immediately LOL

[collapse]

To sum up, this love story will make you believe in love
Spoiler

because ML and MC never stopped loving each other despite losing their memories. You will also enjoy their journey of falling in love all over again, and piercing together the full story of their romance.

An absolutely fantastic read that was such a fun reading experience that I was shocked at how much I loved this story. If you've read Fake Slackers or Everyone thinks I like Him, this one has a similar feel. It's the same set up, the school's two most eye-catching boys and most of the story is watching the two get into shenanigans and fall in love. As for the MC, a kind-hearted boy who has such a sassy and feisty personality, he's quite charming to the point everyone in the... more>> school is a bit of a fan of him. Heck, even I'm a fan of him. ML on the other hand is quite nice, although he's quite stoic and cool, he's still quite complex and works very well with MC.

As always with every story, it was a huge pleasure to read but not perfect. It's 95% school life fluff comedy, quite literally the plot doesn't actually ramp up until the last five or 6 chapters and then ends So quick that I was a little surprised and was like "that was it?!". Personally, I think it could have done with maybe 3-4 more chapters honestly. Overall, it's a fantastic school life love comedy that I truly enjoyed and I really recommend you give it a shot if you like those kinds of stories. <<less

WHY ISNT THIS SEME PROTAG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cough, sorry I haven't read this yet because I'm waiting to binge. That's why I haven't voted. I just noticed that this summary would be a great seme protag novel yet it's not in the tag so I'm just crying a bit, lol.

Edit: Cute story!!! I love our arrogant young master. I'm kinda scared ML will turn yandere and r*pe-y, but so far it's pretty fluffy. Thanks to the translators for their work!

I have only one thing to say...

i f*cking LOVE Song Yu. He is my imaginary cat. He is my overpowered little gremlin who loves me and therefore will pester and irritate me day in and day out with his pesky little quips and I couldn't help but love him all the same.

10/10 will reread. Also the translation is great.

P.S. Ma 'I love Sadako-Chan❤️' Xiaodong is gonna be my oversized dumb little puppy who will be 'lovingly' bullied by his bro Song Yu.

thank you for coming to my Ted talk

5 stars (Strong, shameless "I will protect you" Shou x quiet, cold "I act weak so you don't leave me" Gong).
This novel was the only thing keeping me going while I was drowning in exams for uni >.<

It even gave me a peppermint addiction for a while after I first read it, lol. I'm so in love with MC and his personality—strong, brash, and totally shameless! Yes, he's got a super strong background too, but we don't often see it coming into play (which is a pity because his... more>> family is hilarious af) because just his poisonous tongue (and powerful fighting skills) itself is enough for him to defeat his opponents. The relationship between the leads is also built up, though you do see the ML lowkey falling for the MC pretty early on. I've seen some reviews that mention how ML's personality is quite static, and I somewhat agree, though I'm mainly in this for the strong MC, who more than makes up for it for me personally. I have a thing for MCs who take charge/lead the relationships rather than being in the passive position and Song Yu totally delivers with how protective he is of ML right from the beginning (and so selflessly at that)

My favourite parts are the ones
Spoiler

where the MC fights people on behalf of the ML, and ML faking being hurt just so he could lean on MC shamelessly.

[collapse]
Urgh, I also liked that there wasn't anything overtly s*xual that happened while they were still in school (it's uncomfortable when that happens). The overall story was very studying and slice-of-life focused. I also really enjoyed the backstory; it was decently done, and honestly, I could read an entire book about that. Unfortunately, the ending was quite rushed and left some questions... There are other downsides too; for example, the forum posts were pretty funny at first but got a bit redundant later on. Still a very enjoyable story overall, though, and I've reread it multiple times. Truly one of my comfort reads and the number one among all the novels I've read on this site so far. <<less

I love this mainly because of the MC and ML. It's so refreshing to have an MC who's oblivious and funny but not to the point where they're genuinely s*upid/frustrating, and I absolutely love the ML being the typical "blackened protagonist" but trying to hide it!!! Translation super well done too!!

. So ML recovered slowly with our sunshine MC. Some people complained MC for being too OP, but I feel like if I was aware that I am a very rich person, wealthier than the wealthiest in a city, I would be throwing my weight around I pushed to a corner like that!! It wasn't boasting, it was like a form of self-defense. Also the fighting scenes were something I always looked forward to in this novel <3 It's hilarious! The other characters are also well-rounded, there's good amount of interaction between MC-ML with their fujoshi fans lol

The friend of MC is an amazing addition to the novel, his antiques never failing to crack me up. The parents of MC, specially the father (he is a pure tsun tsun which is very gapmoe <3) are very open minded, and accepted their son's sexuality without creating any drama. The older sister is a gem, and a great moral support for the MC's love life. The world owes me such a nice older sister!!!

Now that I have finished reading it, I already miss Xie Sui and Song Yu. The book was lovely, heart touching. <<less

A MUST READ!!

Absolutely in love with this novel, I'm even tempted to just MTL it hahah

The author managed to capture the essence of youth so well. The kids do homeworks, hangout, pick fights, worry about exams and fool around in forums. The freshness of youth is very charming.

... more>> Also, the writing is excellent and the humour matched mine so well. The forums especially got me in stitches! XIIN did a great job translating this book (ꈍᴗꈍ)

MC is hilarious, I love him so much. I thought he was gonna be a white lotus but he's more like a fierce kitten hahah. Very bold and shameless, but at the same time he's also kind and oblivious. What a dangerous combination, sometimes I want to bite him hahaha. He's very cute and earnest.

ML is a gem as well. He's very smart, mature and BADASS. Very protective as well. He doesn't like seeing MC upset. It's really cute. Even though he's blackened, he's not an extremely domineering and controlling gong (probably because of his past). He's very sweet and patient with MC's obliviousness. Oh, and he's a very smooth flirt and likes to tease MC. I adore their relationship so much.

I thought this book was gonna be heavy due to the ML's backstory but I was pleasantly surprised by the light-hearted humour. Sure, there are some dark themes but the focus is on MC and ML's relationship. Their progress feels very organic and as sweet as molasses. If I'm in the same school as them, I'd be as rotten as some of the girls too hehe

100000/10 so far!! (ノ◕ヮ◕) ノ*.✧ edit: I just MTL-ed this mf and holy sh*t the plot twists!!!!!!! major spoiler

Spoiler

it makes me very happy that turns out "gentle control" is NOT the reality and really just a book. They're also childhood sweethearts (kinda? Ehe) omg aiya they're really smitten, I'm green hahah

I would like to say that there are some plot holes in the novel, some important characters are forgotten as the novels goes on.

The beginning was funny and I liked it but as the novel went on the humor died little by little and wasn't as funny or enjoyable to read.

The ending is rather rushed which sucks cause it left some questions unanswered.

Also I don't really like the explanation to the system and the lord god about why they did what they did, it was very random and thrown in... more>> the novel.

THIS WAS LIKE MY FIRST TIME READING A MODERN TYPE TRANSMIGRATION NOVEL AND

no regrets. Genuinely. This one was so cute and funny, interesting as hell too. It's not like those bl novels which commonly have non con and then proceed to romanticize it. I don't really know what else to say about this but honestly one of my favorite novels, it's so good and I wish there were more stories on this level.😭❤️

Right from the beginning, I couldn't really get into this, I don't know if it was the writing or because I'd read something with a similar premise at first glance (where MC transmigrated and ML was rebirthed, only in that one MC was a former bully, not a childhood friend.) But I couldn't read it, so I started to skim. and it was great at first until it wasn't.

I have nothing against the revenge plot, I'm a firm believer in an eye for an eye when it comes to fiction... more>> - but I have a problem when it becomes an eye for an eye and an arm and a leg... etc. It's just me, but the ML was a bit excessive at times.

Spoiler

Like one scene with some kid who spread rumors that led to him having a bad time in junior high. He ruins the kid's family completely, which was already overkill when the MC had already scared this kid so badly he got on his knees, cried, and begged for mercy. note that at this point they're all supposed to be 15-year-old kids, but the ML knows he's an adult, and he ruins a child's life. it's just me, but that was overkill.

[collapse]

I was at least kinda enjoying the story up to there, but I really can't anymore. So I just skimmed. The forum comments also become kinda much after that point. Honestly, this is the second time I've come across an MC/protag who went too far with the revenge thing and looked more like a villain, and not in a badass sexy way, but in a should-be-locked-up-for-life kinda way.

Also, the ML starts making moves on the MC while they're both supposed to be 15 but he used to be an adult and he doesn't know that the MC was technically the same.

(On the other hand, is demon teacher the new evil stepmother or what?)

Ok, so I read to ch76 and mtl to ch105. In the last twenty chapters, I skimmed most of the story since it lost my interest. The earlier gripe I had over the ML's actions in the spoiler get explained later, but honestly by the end I no longer really like either of them. Most of the old issues actually get explained, but my new issue is the characters. I just don't like their personalities at the end. Also, plot armor is heavy in the last two chapters where everything is conveniently tied up to end the story. I just feel it was too easy. I skimmed it tho.

Rating dropped to 2 stars but it was always a 2.5, just rounded down now. <<less

Saying I liked this novel would be an understatement. I don't just like it, I really like it, like enough to read the whole thing via machine translations. WHICH I WOULD NEVER TYPICALLY DO. (I'm lowkey a grammar nazi, and if the story ain't flowing as smooth as butter, my patience will run out, and I'll be turned off from the whole reading process. So how did I end up mtl-ing this one you may ask? It was in fact due to me holding on tightly to translator san... more>> XIIN and following most of their works, which is how I ended up reading Transmigrating Into The Heartthrob's Cannon Fodder Childhood Friend. XIIN's translations were already to my taste, I liked their style of writing, and when they mentioned on another story's translator's notes that they were working on this one, I naturally jumped ship. I followed the translation process up to chapter 74, and then last night my brain said f*ck it. Ima finish this whole thing at once, and that's exactly what I did. The story has comedic undertones. Both of our leads are smart and resourceful. And their romance is so sweet and slow burn. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll enjoy it ten times more if you follow the proper translations, but if you're short tempered like me and decide to mtl the whole thing, you'll still enjoy it even with the clash of nonsensical wording during the progression of events. <<less

Reading the synopsis and the reviews, I went in with high expectations. I’ll cut this short:

1. The ML is too OP. Where’s the drama and tension when he slays all the people left and right like they’re cabbages?

2. MC is not shameless like it was stated by a reader, to my disappointment. I love shameless characters, this one is just a little rowdy, that’s all. Nothing special about his personality that we haven’t seen already.

3. I skipped so many paragraphs because they were full of message back & forth with... more>> the MC and his sister or with the school forum. Really gets boring to read.

I’d rate this as “meh”. Not bad if you have time to waste but certainly there are better, far better novels out there <<less

Okay everyone no joke this novel is a MASTERPIECE!

It isn't fast pace, and the MC is a bit oblivious but in a charming way! The ML is the literal definition of best male lead. This novel is obviously modern as it's about highschool but I must say I'm definitely enjoying it!!

I highly recommend reading this if you like the hot, strong, and oblivious MC with the head strong, hot, smart, and literally perfect ML.

It was cute and a little different. The MC was probably the most interesting MC I've read lately. Arrogant but kind hearted and a little shameless. The ML was ok, not great but not bad.

The translation is good, I just got a little impatient and MTL from chapter 74.
