Transmigrated to the Beastman World as a Veterinarian

Jian Mo, after graduating, returns to his small hometown and opens an animal clinic.

One night, while he’s asleep, he hears a persistent thumping noise on the roof. Assuming it’s just a rat, he steps outside with a can of food to lure in a friendly, easily tricked, beautiful kitten.

The kitten is indeed stunning, but while Jian Mo is happily hugging and cuddling it, the kitten looks utterly confused. Suddenly, a booming voice interrupts him. Turning around, Jian Mo is startled to find an enormous cat, much larger than himself, standing right behind him.

The giant cat glares at Jian Mo with a raspy voice: “Let go of my brother!”

Now it’s Jian Mo’s turn to be confused.

As he looks up, he realizes the park, city streets, and cars around him have transformed into forests, snowy mountains, grasslands, and tribal settlements.

—He has crossed into a world of beastmen!

The only silver lining? He’s a veterinarian, so at least his skills are somewhat relevant. Treating animals to treating beastmen… well, with some effort, it’s not entirely impossible.

Extra Snippet:

One day, Jian Mo and his partner Wu Jiong head out to gather supplies. As they enter the forest, they hear a series of faint, rustling noises. Peeking through the gaps between the leaves, they see a group of fluffy little creatures huddled in a circle, seemingly “complaining” about him.

A chubby chick sulks: “Doctor Jian Mo said I overate and have indigestion, so I have to starve for a whole day. Chirp chirp.”

A little snow leopard with tearful eyes: “Doctor Jian Mo said I have cavities, so I can’t eat honey anymore. Waaa.”

A small beaver sniffles: “Doctor Jian Mo confiscated all my hidden snacks, saying they’d make me sick. I never want to visit his clinic again. Boohoo.”

A little Pallas’s cat glances at its companions and softly squeaks, “But… when I get treated, Doctor Jian Mo always hugs me.”

The fluffy critters fall silent, lost in thought about Jian Mo.

Behind the trees, riding on the back of his partner who has transformed into a giant wolf, Jian Mo listens to the whole conversation: “…”

The giant wolf turns to gently lick Jian Mo’s newly grown beast ears. “The little ones all came to ask me to put in a good word for them.”

Blushing from the lick, Jian Mo pushes away the fluffy wolf head, “Pleading won’t help; at most, I’ll give them some extra treats to comfort them. And you—stop licking my ears!”

Ok so this is actually pretty good I give this 7.6/10. This is fantasy, with a whole new setting and world building, there's many non logical and whimsical things

And here is my honest review

1. Most of the story revolving on food. Yes there's veterinarian in action but not much, there's case of gastric stone, there's bald cat-tiger beastman, birth of twins, mostly just cover the big cases and again mostly food.. Food discovery, recreate earth food and some innovation, like cotton, balm and etc.

2. The MC is Veterinarian, not a human doctor practitioner for the rest he just like average people who know how to make things but don't expert on them so most of their innovation come from experiment some even accidental.

3. This is the biggest downside of the story, the story tend to left out many things even including the world building :") the author mostly focused on food 😭 half of the story focused on food..
Spoiler

I kinda confused how the MC suddenly turn to sub-beastman and it progressed slowly I'm sure it can be explored but nope, they left out the clinic building progress that I really want to read and etc.

[collapse]

4. And what made me really confused read this is the inconsistency of the name. The first is named A then next chapter become B, and suddenly there's new plant that I don't remember planted (maybe I unintentionally skipped that part) and there's few minor story that skipped and forgotten..

Overall it's so good, the cubs so cute, the teenage beastmen are so funny and fun to read.

It's more of a 4 star for me, but it deserves that rating, so I'm boosting :)

It's a pretty simple sweet slice of life, not very original but well written. The romance is sweet, both the MC and ML are likeable (even with ML's "strong and silent" character setting).

BUT. Hear me out. This is THE best "modern person helps to make the quality of life better" novel I've ever read. MC is very knowledgeable, but not unreasonably so. He often knows about things existing, but not being sure about... more>> the production method. And the members of the tribe (s) are not pitiful, primitive savages, but a society of intelligent individuals with less generational knowledge. I love that.

All in all, it's a nice and easy read without big ups or downs and quality translation. <<less

Sometimes creativity is a curse, because when the author wrote about birds who build their nests out of honey and sugar on the cliffs of frozen peaks as if it made evolutionary sense, I had to put this story down. It's truly a shame that for one of the few beastmen novels doing some creative world building, the author obviously didn't pass biology in junior high. Seriously, what should we expect in future chapters, cows making their own barns out of milk in lava fields?

That aside, the story is nothing... more>> special. Despite being mindless fluff there isn't actually a lot of fluffy moments. It's mostly a mundane cycle of our main character progressing through the same steps as many primitive transmigration/infrastructure building novels, but the pace is very relaxed. Fortunately, the author avoids the most obvious mistake of making the MC a perfect encyclopedia for the beastmen industrial revolution, though his attempts at innovation often succeed on the first try. Overall, the greatest strength of this story is that it avoids all of the usual sexism which you'll find in most beastmen novels. Sub-beastmen aren't repeatedly referred to as "females" and don't act like caricatures of modern women, and beastmen don't act like unga bunga cavemen who only want to breed. For BL, this is practically a Christmas miracle, and also proof that despite lacking common sense the author has actually achieved a higher level of consciousness than 99% of BL authors. <<less

Beautiful, it may not be the most intricate and original novel in the world, but it gives you what it offers, it is a healing novel (perfect to read after a little bit of dog blood) Cute, fluffy and with a slow-burn romance, I could even say I learned a little about pottery, I don't know how it will continue from now on but I liked it. Somehow I was able to read quite a lot and I look forward to more! (Is hard for me to read a novel... more>> in one go without dividing the reading into 40 times) <<less

This is more a 3.5 rating.

This is a fun slice of life in the Beastman world. It has similar tropes to a protagonist transmigrating into Ancient China because the MC is introducing food, recipes and medical practises into his new tribe from his modern life.

The ML is quite clear from the beginning and I’m glad their relationship status is confirmed quite early on too. Though this story is not heavy on the romance they are a great partnership.

My favourite character is actually a creature that can’t even speak haha. But... more>> the author has been able to create a fun and silly animal character despite only being able to chirp.

Like any slice of life story it can get monotonous. The MC travels to different tribes and helps heal their members and will likely come across an ingredient or process he recognised from his previous world and then the next few chapters will be him introducing that to his own tribe. This is the pattern through out the story.

Regardless I will still keep up with future updates because it’s still worth reading though it’s not ranked in any of my top novels. <<less
