This novel is poorly written.

The main idea should've been interesting (a taoist master transmigrated into dog blood drama novel), but it's poorly executed. The writing is just all over the place, very unstructured and can suddenly jump from one scene to another without any proper transition. The plot is very messy--a subplot and conflict would suddenly show up out of nowhere, similar to the author's other novel, "Rebirth of the Evil Mother-in-Law".

It's extremely hard to read: bad writing technique equipped with poor character development, nonexistent worldbuilding, and basically copied dog... more>> blood drama plotlines from the author's other novel.

MC was said to be a transmigrated taoist master stuck in a dog blood drama novel, yet it's quite funny how she suddenly lost any interest in the field afterwards and only used her skills for plotting against her family. Her background was left unexplored and only served as convenience. It's ironic how the author tried to use a supernatural/xianxia setting yet didn't even make any effort on worldbuilding, like she literally never explained anything about those so called taoists and their powers, just saying MC can make charms.

MC's character setting is so weak it's baffling. MC never even took any initiative to see her mother, even when she knew she was her actual daughter and not a wandering soul while knowing that her mother was the only family member who cared about her and had been imprisoned for years by her father. And of course she never took a revenge on her mother's case, no police whatsoever. That is one heck of an unfeeling MC.

Honestly the author just used the typical dog blood family drama based on a mistress raised outside for its main plot, which basically involved a mary sue character with lots of powerful men as admirers who accept to be treated as spare tires. This is basically just copying and pasting the author's other novel. She just mixed up the characters and used a different setting. Men are tr*sh, raising mistresses, divorced wife, don't care about kids yada yada. I honestly don't know whether the author is inexperienced or simply just lazy and ignorant to recycle her novel like this.

The first few chapters are particularly bad, like really bad. No context, typical villainous plot, shallow character setting, the writing was hard to follow since the scene kept changing without transition, and the plot is just all over the place. It could've ended in 75 chapters, but afterwards the author just decided to drag along the plot without proper subconflict. Very mundane and boring.

There's literally nothing striking in this novel that'd make it interesting enough to read. You better off reading other novels with more interesting plotlines and written with more skills. <<less

This is a cute novel. The storyline is fluffy and I find the MC adorable. She properly gives punishment and not too harsh to her opponents. I want to read this again because I only read the mtl. Thank you translator sama for the quality translation for this novel. The male lead is also cute by the way. Not the usual possessive overbearing male lead.

ML is really happy and proud when he hear people saying that he is being kept by MC

Not something I'd read for a pass time, much less for entertainment. It's bland. The main character is not introduced well. All we can induce is that she's some type of OP wizard that can fight.

Don't be fooled by the amount of chapters so far - 2. The chapters are pretty long. A lot gets shoved into one chapter whereas another author would've cut these 2 chapters into 5-6. Very fast paced even though it seems slow. You get a feel of the entirety of the plot in just these... more>> 2 chapters. <<less

The story had the potential and this made me really sad because I binge-read this novel up to chapter 37.1 here in novel updates, then moved to the mtl version because I was hooked and can't get enough.

Unfortunately, this was not maintained until the end. As I went further, the novel started becoming bland and boring. I actually end up sleeping after reading some chapters. I finally made it until chapter 141 and finally decided that this ain't it. I think I started getting bored around chapter 80. I wished... more>> the author decided to just make this novel up to that length and reconstructed the plot to maximize the story's potential.

If you're reading this, I suggest once you start getting bored, then stop there. It will not get better. I was able to convince myself to hold on, but alas I just wasted my time. <<less

The novel was quite enjoyable until chapter 30 or so. Then it went downhill from there. MC is OP considering she has talents in face reading, she can make amulets, has subordinates such as ghosts who can spy on people, etc. That's fine, but halfway in the story there are a lot of supernatural beings such as a koi, vampire, dragon, trees that talk, snakes, ghosts, etc. I feel like these added characters are too overwhelming and branching out from the original storyline. I feel like there are a lot... more>> of sub arcs that are getting woven together at random parts. This one was a bit disappointing considering it had a decent start. MC doesn't bother continuing her work as an actress, and instead earns money by blackmailing individuals who try to harm her and the likes. Halfway through the story, it's just not worth reading anymore. There are so many low IQ people and way too many supernatural beings added in suddenly. <<less

I’ve read my fair share of “weird” stories, but this by far is one of the weirdest romance novels. I admit I should have looked at the tags to see that this wasn’t your average romance novel, but the ghost-hunting, martial arts, and spiritual power in modern day China isn’t doing it for me. It seems so out of place, especially with how unstructured and a mess of this story is. The face-slapping is unsatisfying and ridiculous. The MC is too OP.

Not really a romance, but a fun read all the same. I read it as a MTL version, yet it was still quite coherent—definitely one of the easier MTL reads. As for the plot, I found it to be a fun comedy-ish story with ghosts and cultivation. There was a nice twist regarding the main character's identity and overall the characters were interesting. A fun read to pass the time especially if you like face-slapping.

This story is really good! I don't particularly read supernatural/fantasy stuff (except for transmigrating/reborn) but this one is one of the best! Though I'm still half way there.

This story involves supernatural element, taoism, fengshui & things regarding ghosts & demons. BUT, this isn't a particularly serious types of novel, it revolves more around comedy & face slapping. Romance aren't there yet even if i've read till chapter 99, but the seed of love is already planted earlier & slowly budding (IF there is romance in the story, but I don't... more>> mind if they're not together since the story itself is interesting enough)

FL is OP and it's fun. The ghost that FL asked to be a spy also done her job perfectly xD I think the story itself is progressing in a good pace & consistent enough. It also told in many people point of view, not just the FL.

Sad that many characters treated some people's lives as a joke. I guess if the FL died, every each of her enemies are going to party 7days & 7nights without stopping huh they didn't even think that the things that they did is even wrong in the first place. Guess the word 'retribution' didn't exist in their life's dictionary. <<less

First time I read a story without wishing for the romance to come faster. The ML name was first known in around chapter 30-40. But I'm gonna stop reading cause it gets boring for me.

Either way, I love the face-slapping! A double-standard white lotuses pair of mother and daughter.

MLT-ed it. It's a cute story! There's transmigration, white lotuses, and faceslapping. The ghosts and other supernatural aspects make it somewhat unique. I think it's worth the read, if you want a unique twist to the standard theme.

TLDR 5 stars an absolutely great read and palate cleanser if you read a novel that left you pissed

It's an absolutely great face slapping novel. They are all great, funny and completely justified. The characters are mostly great. I especially liked the author inserting herself as the sparrow sidekick. She's absolutely hilarious and a pure joy. The romance is OK if not great. It doesn't detract from the story and has it's own moments.

The early translation was little difficult to read, but the MTL funny enough was pretty easy to... more>> follow with the exception of the usual name and pronoun mangling.

Bottom line well worth the read <<less

First off, until this chapter there's really not a clear plot about MC's romance (I'm still not quite sure who's ML - Quan something or Cangmingming?).

But anyway, I just can't wait to write a review right away after reading this up to this part.

IT IS insanely hilarious! MC's too OP! Common sense doesn't work here -- seeing as the villains and co (should have been protag in the novel MC transmigrated into) were just only starting to plot something bad to MC, and MC's already prepared a counter attack. It... more>> was because she had "eyes" roaming and following every moves of her enemies (it's ghost! What else?).

One more thing, MC's Sparrow pet (though the Sparrow doesn't want to admit it was a pet,

and she transforms to a human girl by now

also keeps me reading further! The Sparrow's an aspiring dog blood plot writer in here, and it/she's spying how MC confronts her family as a material for her own novel haha.

Read this if you want to brush off the angst'y novel who has MC's facing all kinds of struggles and beaten badly - there's nothing of it in here!

Read this to have a good laugh. I still can't see any sign of the brooding romance though, too bad. <<less

I like it. Of course, I liked Rebirth of the Evil Mother-In-Law, too. You could argue that it's a bit bland, or that it's too similar to other stories in this aspect or that aspect, but lets face it. If you're reading this type of face-slapping novel, you don't actually care about originality.

The face-slapping is satisfying, the MC is smart and crafty without being too harsh, her supernatural abilities as a taoist master are relevant to the story, and she's generally likeable. The side characters may be a bit lacking,... more>> and the cannon fodders are a bit too s*upid. Her mother, the one most wronged by the villains, is barely in it, which annoys me. The stepmother isn't too evil, just a little crafty, but she's willfully ignoring her own sins and acting like a victim whenever she gets her multiple scenes of comeuppance, so it's satisfying to watch her slowly fall. Honestly, I'd put this at just under four stars if I think about it logically, but it satisfied my itch, so here we are. <<less

Very nice hehe, it was funny and entertaining, not very angsty. There's just a Xianxia or supernatural tag missing, I guess that could catch some people off guard, considering it's like... the main part of the story

It was a really fun read though, there are many funny situations and yeah... bear in mind this is not a serious read, it's ridiculously funny. The comedy just catches you off guard, you can be reading something that seems serious and suddenly there is something ridiculous. This just has a big comedic undertone.

There are a couple of chuunis and their scenes were really funny, also the whole Tiantian loving the sparrow's novel thingy was hilarious.

Sometimes you expect there to be a battle or something, the author starts explaining some character's preparation ahah, and it's all for naught.

The MCs are very overpowered, they don't struggle. Ah, but honestly I hadn't been wanting to read novels for some time and this was the only novel in my reading list that called me and I was able to finish it. I haven't been able to complete a novel in some time, I usually drop them near the end. This was perfectly entertaining without boring fillers. They just insert drama of other characters, it's fun. There's not much romance though. Although there's no much angst it is still very entertaining. There is a mystery to her past and well, I MTLed it and didn't fully understand what happened haha, but I still cried, just too feel something.

Ah but of course there are still some nationalist scenes.

They took back some islands from Japan, (well they didn't say Japan, they said R country, which is most likely Riben/Japan). Idk about that topic... but I always see those countries fighting over islands, idrk who really owns them. Just... if your country has beef over territories with china then it might annoy you. They have beef with like everyone tbh.

I have nothing but satisfaction reading this novel, strong and smart MC, perfect revenge, no trace of the ML until 60 chapter witch is a safe place to stop for me, what more could one ask for. Though I might continue as the ML didn't seem the ret*rded kind that ruin stories.

Be aware that 4-13 is a horrendous machine translation, but there's a decent translation in Centinni, and in case the website is down try this "read asianovel com".

It is a nice story from the author, recommended to read the other works too.

It always funny when a xiaosan (mistress) always thinks that the inheritance of the rightful daughter is too much compared to her own daughter.

Here is the word from chapter sixteen :

... more>> So the situation is our MC's mother "died" and the father (like step-dad) wants to give a good building in city center and 10% share of his company and the stepmother thinking like this :

[Coupled with the belongings Xu Manqin left to Li Xiao, Li Xiao can inherit more than her daughter in the future. Why is her daughter inferior to her?

Her eyes were a little fuzzy, and he was only thinking of Li Xiao at this time, what about Qian Fei and Qian Xing? They are also his children, and they have suffered so much since they were young. ]

The funny things is, the man only success inheriting his family because the support of Xu family and after that he destroying the bridge after crossing, in other word ruin the rightful wife family after using it.

And even his company was funds with his wife's dowry to become that big. (the type of useless man that only can eat his wife's soft rice, and tr*sh man that ruin all his wife for another woman).

See here, that means the man can't success if not for the wife, but the mistrees feel mistreated even only that little things gived to the rightful daughter. Pfft... the typical white lotus b*tch. <<less

This is pretty much a potato chip modern "villainess" transmigration novel. (Guilty pleasure high-calorie, low-nutrition) The genres are a bit Frankenstein-ed together too--the world building unclear.

For example, the MC has transmigrated from what seems to have been a cultivation/taoism world into a novel with a modern entertainment world setting. She knows it's a novel because her friend/side-kick was telling her about it when she got transmigrated. Why are their light novels in a cultivation setting? Or is she from some kind of modern cultivation setting? It's not really clear, all... more>> you really know is that she lived on a mountain. Either way, she adapts to her new setting way too fast, and seems to have knowledge that she shouldn't (and not in a "read-the-novel-foreknowledge" way, more like the author is too lazy to write the MC figuring things out).

The stepmother offers the MC four scripts that the MC can choose to audition for. Somehow just by looking at it the MC, minutes after transmigrating, knows that the director of this script is very strict and hard on actors, not allowing stand-in for action shots. Why would she know this from the script? Why does she know anything about directors in this world, especially when this director wasn't even part of the original novel she transmigrated into?

Example 2:

Why are people in the modern world so accepting of the supernatural? Like when the director and people from the set find the MC in the bathroom grabbing a ghost, they are all like, "who was plotting against our movie by sending a ghost?" and not, "Holy f*ck, a ghost!!!"

Basically, there are a lot of random and weird plot inconsistencies that just seem to serve the purpose of rushing the plot along. Despite this, I don't actually dislike this novel. Why? Because the face-smashing is particularly satisfying! Who cares about minor details like logical plot when you can watch the MC viciously curb-stomp her enemies!? As long as you don't keep your expectations too high you will find this a fun read. <<less

I read the translation upto the latest them mtl-ed the rest. Others don't like it but for me I like it and will definitely recommended it to my friends but not as a romantic book but more on adventure - face slapping - comedy and supernatural book.

the story is about a taoist girl who woke up without the original owner's memory. Then later found out that it was a story in a book that her sparrow friend blabbering about that cause her to fail a spell and got transmigrated in return. The story is full of faceslap and successful counter attacks. MC is OP with her taoism power like ordering ghost to spy someone, using talisman amd spells to her enemy. Since it is related to taoism better expect demons and other creatures. (ghost, zombie, vampire and likes)

The romance is.... There is but so miniscule. ML is so pure that he realize his love way too slow and MC is also slow in love. She was busy face slapping and doing her taoist duty. So romantic fluffiness is meh but there are also lots of comedy scenes so you can try reading this if you are into adventure - comedy - face slapping type of novel.

since I mtl-ed the rest, her origin is kinda confusing to me. From what I understand, she is the reincarnation of 'taixu' mirror (it was tranlated like that) then she tried to save her friend resulting for her body to shatter then creating different worlds wherein she thought she transmigrated but in actuality is just another world created by her former body. So yeah, had to wait for the actual translation for better understanding.
